Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old boy died in Jersey.

The Victoria College pupil from St Lawrence was found unconscious on Rue de Becquet Vincent in Trinity at about 09:45 BST by a woman walking her dog and died in hospital.

Two men aged 16 and another aged 15, also Victoria College pupils, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A fourth teenager, 16, has been arrested in connection with the death.

Victoria College is a government-owned, fee-paying selective school for boys.

Alun Watkins, headteacher of Victoria College, said: "Following the tragic events of this weekend, Victoria College would like to extend its sincerest sympathy to the family of the boy concerned."

He added: "The school is working very closely with the States of Jersey Police on the ongoing investigation and, in view of this, there will be no further comment from the school at the moment."

Nobody involved has been named and all at least three of the boys are believed to have known the pupil who died.

The dead boy's family have been informed.
