'I was a child soldier in Joseph Kony's army'

When Polline was 12 years old, she was snatched from her home and forced to become a soldier in Joseph Kony's army.

The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is notorious for abducting children to use as child solders and sex slaves, and the Ugandan rebel leader is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Polline managed to escape and now, aged 26, she describes it as an unbelievable journey out of a life of abuse.

Polline now tells her story in schools around the world and on Friday will speak at the World Conference in London. Next week she addresses the UN.

She spoke to Alison Holt about life as a child soldier and why she believes it is important to speak out about her experiences.
