Carlisle pensioner, 84, battles council demolition plan

A pensioner who has lived in her home in Cumbria for more than 30 years has vowed to battle proposals which could see it demolished.

Jean Hall, 84, from Carlisle, could be forced to move if a new plan to bulldoze city centre buildings, including homes and the civic centre, goes ahead.

Carlisle City Council last week announced a consultation on the scheme, which would see shops built in place of the buildings.
