Een regenboog in de woestijn of een zebra in een bloemenveld: de vijftien fotografen die dit jaar strijden voor de titel ‘National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year’ trokken naar de verste uithoeken van de wereld en leverden stuk voor stuk adembenemende kiekjes in. Zo bezocht fotograaf Ryan Bell de Kazachse steppe en ging Giovanni Modesti voor de schoonheid van zijn thuisland Italië. Wie zelf nog een adembenemend kiekje wil nemen, kan zich nog aanmelden tot en met 27 mei. De winnaar ontvangt een zevendaagse safari naar het Canadese Churchill.
Voor dit kiekje trok fotograaf David Nam naar Bangladesh. Hij slaagde erin om tussen twee treinen in de vreugde van enkele jonge waaghalzen te fotograferen
