Delano South Beach

Miami, Florida, United States

9 Telegraph expert rating

The Delano, conceived by Ian Schrager, put South Beach back on the map in the Nineties when it was a playground for the likes of Madonna, Prince, Jennifer Lopez and P. Diddy. Nightlife is a major draw here, and FDR is a glittering subterranean lounge. It’s a high-energy yet intimate club hosting an array of global DJs throughout the week. From the lobby’s Rose Bar to the pool’s Delano Beach Club, the hotel’s public spaces are always a lively social scene.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Miami Beach, Florida, United States

9 Telegraph expert rating

This place is as famous for its storied past as it is for being one of the hottest Miami hotels. A $1 billion restoration has introduced four stellar restaurants, a glitzy nightclub and one of the most luxurious spas in town. It’s not unusual to have to wait in line for check-in, wonder where your drink is after ordering it poolside, not be admitted to LIV nightclub because of the competitive door policy or wait to be seated well after your dinner reservation. But vying for status is also part of the allure here.
