Flat searched in missing Paige Chivers murder inquiry

A flat near to where a 15-year-old girl disappeared has been searched by police after a £30,000 reward was offered to help solve her murder.

Paige Chivers, from Blackpool, Lancashire was last seen at a bus stop on Ashfield Road on 23 August 2007. She would now be 22.

Lancashire Police carried out a forensic examination of the property in All Hallows Road, Bispham on Tuesday.

They believe Paige was killed and her body disposed of. No-one was arrested.

Detectives are carrying out forensic tests on almost 2,000 items seized during the inquiry.

Det Supt Andy Webster said: "It has been nearly seven years since Paige disappeared and in that time forensic techniques have become more and more advanced.

"In particular, DNA testing and analysis has become more sensitive."

Despite numerous appeals, rewards, and a long-running police investigation, Paige has not been seen or made contact with any family or friends, police said.

Her father Frank, 49, died last year after being found with a head injury at his home in Layton.

Sean Conlon, 44, of no fixed address, was convicted of his murder and jailed for a minimum of 15 years at Preston Crown Court in January.
