It is always easier to see the reasons why we cannot succeed, Always easier to shrug our shoulders and believe the best we can do is try, almost as a token gesture. With no belief in success then success becomes so hard to achieve, almost an impossibility. A bit like Animal Liberation really, an impossible concept. We know it's not though, or else what are we fighting for? We should never be afraid to succeed or believe we can succeed. And we should never be afraid to reach for the stars? if that's what it takes. With this hunger strike we are saying to the government of this country that we want it all and we will accept nothing less than success. How can we possibly ask for less? To do so is to condemn so many animals to a life of suffering and death. Believe me, the time has come to reach for those stars and believe it is possible.
Many people say that this protest cannot succeed because the government don't care, they won't give in, and they have no feelings for the animals. Others say that the objective we ask for is too much, we should ask for less, aim for a more easily obtainable target. They say, you cannot expect it all; lets take it a step at a time. My answer to this last one is that we have done exactly that for years now. We have taken it a step at a time down the long road we have trodden for justice in the labs. And now we have reached the point where we are in sight of our goal. There are no more steps to take except this, the final step for the total abolition of vivisection. Make no mistake; the objective of this hunger strike is not to demand some thing that cannot be given. For we are reasonable people, and as such we do not demand an instant solution. Instead we say 'within an agreed period of time'. That means exactly what it says, No double-dealing, no empty promises, no secret deals. Give us a time limit that is agreeable and give us your word on it.
To the Labour Government I would say this; you have treated the Animal Rights movement, the thousands and thousands of animal lovers in this country most shabbily. In the months leading up to the election you said so many fine things, gave us promises and pledges, assured us time and time again of your honourable intentions towards the animals. And we believed you. Because of that thousands and thousands of people voted for you gladly believing here at last was a government that would keep its word and help the animals. You have let us down and you have betrayed the animals that you pledged to help. We will not forget this; it's not enough to say that you have not had time yet to do what you have promised. Your words since the election proved this, they speak to us only of a lack of feeling for the animals. You tell us they are not a priority. To the thousands who gave their votes to you, they are indeed a priority and you would be wise to remember this. So show us now that you are men and women of honour, that you have compassion, that you are committed to ending the suffering of the animals in the vivisection labs. On this issue talk to us and we will listen but do not betray the animals or us again, or we will not forget.

In a ruling that affects all of us, in August the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that placing tracking devices on cars does not violate the Fourth Amendment. Law enforcement only has to believe you are a criminal, and can place a GPS tracking device on your car without a warrant - even if your car is parked in your own driveway.
GPS tracking device have been used in numerous animal rights legal cases, including the cases of Andreas San Diego and Kevin Olliff. This recent ruling is affects law enforcement rules in nine western states, and allows the FBI and other law enforcement in Washington, Idaho, Montana, California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii to place tracking devices on vehicles without a warrant. Another circuit court has disagreed, and the issue will likely end up in the Supreme Court.
Until then, in the above-mentioned nine states, the FBI now has free reign to track us warrantlessly. The best defense now is to know what FBI GPS tracking devices look like. If you find devices like these on the underside of your vehicle (often held with magnets), you are being tracked by police or the FBI:

Kunnen motorcrossers gewoon hun gang gaan in de natuur of risceren ook zij gestraft te worden als ze tijdens het beoefenen van hun hobby natuurwaarden verstoren of vernielen? Wat geeft de vereniging jaarlijks uit aan gerechtskosten? Hoe verloopt de samenwerking tussen Vogelbescherming Vlaanderen en de verbaliserende instanties? Zin in meer activiteiten van Vogelbescherming Vlaanderen? Surf dan naar haar WEBSITE
Jagers vinden vossen maar rotbeesten en dat weten we al langer dan vandaag. Het is een publiek geheim dat jagers ook buiten de toegelaten jachtperiode (1 oktober t.e.m. 14 februari) vossen bejagen en dat ze middelen en tuigen inzetten die levensgevaarlijk en illegaal zijn: gif, stroppen, klemmen, enz. Jagers blijken bovendien steeds driester te werk te gaan en nemen daarbij enorme risico’s op het vlak van de openbare veiligheid. Dat werd het voorbije weekend nog maar eens aangetoond in het Oost-Vlaamse Zottegem. Zaterdagavond meldde een inwoner dat hij tijdens een wandeling een grote klem had gevonden met daarin een volwassen vos. Omdat het dier nog leefde, begaven medewerkers van het Opvangcentrum voor Vogels en Wilde Dieren uit Geraardsbergen, bijgestaan door de politie van Zottegem, zich onmiddellijk ter plaatse. Op slechts 50 meter van een wandelpad troffen ze een moervos aan die vocht voor haar leven. Het onfortuinlijke dier zat met de kop gekneld tussen twee grote, getande beugels. Met een enorme kracht had de klem de schedel van de vos verbrijzeld. Omdat de beugels niet geopend konden worden en het dier sowieso ten dode opgeschreven was, besloot men het – inclusief klem – naar een dierenarts over te brengen voor euthanasie. Zowel het Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos als de politie van Zottegem zijn met een onderzoek gestart. De politie stelde proces-verbaal op en Vogelbescherming Vlaanderen legt klacht neer tegen onbekenden en stelt zich burgerlijke partij.
De nog levende vos kreunt van de pijn en geraakt niet los uit de krachtige beugelklem
Jagers zien vossen als concurrenten voor hun oogst. Vossen en andere roofdieren leven immers van de aanwas van hun prooidieren omdat hun aantallen daarop afgestemd zijn. Dat moet ook, want als ze de voorjaarsstand van hun prooidierpopulaties verkleinen, betekent dit ook het indammen van de eigen bestaansmogelijkheden. Dat gebeurt dus niet. Het aantal prooidieren is daarom beperkend voor het aantal roofdieren. Roofdieren romen een deel van de najaarsstand af maar de voorjaarspopulatie blijft onaangetast. Jagers romen de najaarsstand graag zelf af. Reden dus om roofdieren te vervolgen. Er is echter een groot verschil tussen het afromen door jagers en het afromen door roofdieren. De wijze waarop de selectie wordt uitgeoefend, is totaal anders.
Als een kind tijdens een bosspel in een dergelijke klem vast zou komen te zitten, zijn de gevolgen niet te overzien
Roofdieren hebben vooral een kwalitatieve en nagenoeg geen kwantitatieve invloed op hun prooidierpopulaties. Ze zullen proberen zo gemakkelijk mogelijk aan hun prooi te komen. Jonge, zwakke, oude en zieke individuen zullen het eerst worden gepakt. Predatie richt zich dus op de top en de basis van een bevolkingspiramide. De middenklasse is hen te snel af. Hierdoor waken roofdieren als het ware over de gezondheid van prooidieren en vormen ze een van de pijlers onder de natuurlijke selectie. Jagers daarentegen schieten het liefst de gezonde, sterke dieren, die de mooiste trofeeën leveren. Deze jacht in de middenklasse verzwakt de populatie. Sterke en vitale dieren maken plaats voor zwakkere individuen die anders kansloos bleven en nu wel tot voortplanting kunnen komen.
Als gevolg van de grote druk van de beugels op de kop van de vos is het oog met bloed doorlopen
Vanavond Vroege Vogels TV, ned. 2, 19:20 uur. Vergeten dieren zijn de dieren waar je niet direct aan denkt tijdens dierendag. De bio-industrie, de bontsector en de mishandeling van huisdieren, deze voorbeelden van dierenleed kennen we allemaal. Maar dat circusdieren dagelijks veel leed ondervinden, daar denken de meeste mensen niet snel aan. De dompteurs doen ons graag geloven dat een olifant na een aai over haar bol een handstand doet, maar niets is minder waar. Undercoverbeelden laten ons iets heel anders zien: wilde dieren in circussen hebben een verschrikkelijk leven. Wekelijks moeten ze op lange transporten, doen ze kunstjes onder dwang en worden ze gehuisvest in veel te kleine hokken. Alles wat ook maar een beetje op hun natuurlijke omgeving lijkt, wordt ze ontnomen. Deze dieren raken hierdoor vreselijk gefrustreerd, dag in, dag uit. Met dit in mijn hoofd breekt mijn hart wanneer ik het publiek enthousiast zie klappen als een olifant rare kunstjes moet doen. Circusdieren worden vergeten, maar niet door ons en gelukkig ook niet door u.

Op vergeten dierendag besteedt Vroege Vogels TV dit jaar extra aandacht aan circusdieren. Het TV-programma is tegen het gebruik van wilde dieren in het circus. Zo vinden ze dat we dieren voor genoeg zaken al laten opdraaien: ze hoeven niet ook nog eens ons amusement te verzorgen.

"In 2009 heb ik De Oudejaarsconference in een soort 'kerstcircus-vorm' geproduceerd: 12 voorstellingen in 6 dagen met meer dan 16.000 bezoekers. Ik kreeg de volledige vrije hand in de organisatie, dus riep ik direct: Geen oubollig orkest, geen zaagsel en geen dieren! Circus met dieren is achterhaald en tegen mijn principes. Die zebra door de hoepel kennen we nu wel en een olifant hoort niet de 'kabouter plop-dans' te kunnen doen. Het is creatieve armoede om steeds weer terug te moeten vallen op die dieren. Deze dieren horen gewoon in het wild thuis! Nieuwe vorm van circus en spektakel kan prima met een dj, visuele acts en mensen die iets fantastisch kunnen.
Daar zijn geen dieren bij nodig!

Loesje schrijft tegen circusdieren
Tijdens een gesponsorde workshop boog Loesje zich samen met Wilde Dieren de Tent Uit over leuke, mooie, spannende en ontroerende teksten over circusdieren. Zes fraaie posters zijn het resultaat. Via onze website kunt u ze uitprinten en voor het raam hangen, bijvoorbeeld wanneer er een circus naar uw stad komt. Want dierenbevrijding is natuurlijk gewoon naar een circus zónder wilde dieren gaan.
Vlak voor de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen vond er iets bijzonders plaats op het strand van Scheveningen. Tien levensgrote struisvogels domineerden die dag het strand. Deze vogels symboliseerden het gedrag van verschillende politieke partijen. Wilde Dieren de Tent Uit verwijt het CDA, SP, VVD, PVV, ChristenUnie en D66 de kop in het zand te steken waar het gaat om de bescherming van het welzijn van circusdieren. Dit ondanks het feit dat partijen als Partij voor de Dieren, GroenLinks, PvdA en de SGP vorig jaar al aandrongen op een verbod.

Germany's own Armed Forces has written to PETA, stating: "[T]he armed forces do no animal tests for training purposes. For training exercises the soldiers learn with really good models and the doctors don't need animal experiments." The U.S. Army's own Alfred V. Rascon School of Combat Medicine at Fort Campbell does not use animals in its trauma program, stating that "[t]raining on [simulators] is more realistic to providing care for a person than training on animals."

Via onze Frans/Duitse zusterorganisatie Stop Corrida vernam CAS International dat er een initiatief gaande is om stierengevechten in de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) te gaan organiseren, om precies te zijn in Abu Dhabi. Dit hebben diverse Franse en Spaanse media gemeld.
Er zouden in juni gesprekken zijn geweest tussen stierenvechtpromotor Simon Casas en Prins Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan van Abu Dhabi. De eerste stierengevechten staan volgens stierenvechtliefhebbers gepland voor 20-24 november 2010 en er wordt zelfs gesproken over de bouw van een arena. Wij hebben uw hulp nodig om dit te voorkomen!
Vraag Online Ticketshop te stoppen met verkoop kaartjes stierengevechten
CAS International werd er onlangs op attent gemaakt dat de Nederlandse website Online Ticketshop kaartjes verkoopt voor stierengevechten in het Spaanse Sevilla. We stuurden een e-mail naar Online Ticketshop met het verzoek te stoppen met deze verkoop, omdat wij willen voorkomen dat Nederlandse en Belgische toeristen het stierenvechten mede in stand houden.
Zij gaven aan het stierenvechten niet actief te promoten, maar mensen wel de mogelijkheid te willen bieden kaartjes te kopen. Wij hopen hen ervan te overtuigen toch te stoppen met de verkoop van tickets. Helpt u mee?
CAS International en de Spaanse politieke dierenpartij PACMA hebben een video gemaakt van de gruwelijke fiesta Toro de la Vega in Tordesillas, Spanje. De video bevat beelden van onze gezamenlijke demonstratie op 12 september 2010 in Tordesillas, maar ook van het martelen en doden van stier Platanito, die dit jaar door meer dan 100 mannen te paard en te voet werd doodgestoken met lange lansen.

This puppy dared to wander into someone's garden. It's punishment? To be beaten over the head and killed by a 90 year old woman. The local animal welfare organisation is trying to press charges but it is unlikely that the authorities will prosecute. They generally ignore crimes against animals and are even less likely to prosecute a 90 year old woman.

Wij hebben voor deze dag EEN GROTE WENS! Laten we massaal vegan gaan ! Je gezondheid zal duidelijk verbeteren! Maag- en gewrichtsklachten verdwijnen! Overgewicht wordt genormaliseerd. Vlees blijft weken lang in je systeem en blijft daar gifstoffen afgeven. Dieren worden volgestopt met antibiotica en andere stoffen die slecht zijn voor je gezondheid. Heb je eens dringend antibiotica nodig heb je grote kans dat deze daarom niet meer aanslaat. Vleesconsumptie is slecht voor het milieu, uitstoot van gassen, gebruik van land om voedsel te kweken voor de dieren etc. En last but not least het is vreselijk voor de dieren..... Er zijn geweldige vleesvervangers die heerlijk smaken en veel gezonder zijn dan vlees! Dus....LET'S GO VEGAN ! Leny.
