Yiska has been found in Bulgaria, hidden under a building by an old lady.
The woman took Yiska to the vet in his village but he refused to treat the cat.
Yiska reminds us very much to our miracle baby, Gulumser:

UPDATE 17 February: Yiska is now safe and sound at our Clinic in Sofia. His condition is quite complicated... Not only his snout is completely gone, he has a broken leg and his entire body is sprinkled with tar.

It will take a while to get Yiska up to speed but we are sure he'll be amazing very soon... as you can see in his new pictures he is sooo happy to have been rescued.. from now on things are looking up for him.

We are going to cover all of his veterinary and rehoming expenses. If you are in a position to give us a hand please do so by contributing to the Simba Fund:

Tomorrow morning Yiska will be at our clinic in Sofia to be treated from his injuries.

After he is in a condition to go home he will be rehomed by our network.

Conditions for adoption:

1. Yiska MUST have an existing animal.
2. Yiska MUST live inside the home, not on the garden.
3. Yiska MUST be fed a RAW diet (www.rawfedcats.org)

and finally...

4. The family will be a non-smoking family. Second hand smoke kills and makes miserable the lifes of both humans and animals. Yiska will enjoy a clean crisp air in his new home.

Het Astma Fonds heeft sinds eind februari een nieuwe site. Wij moeten het zeggen: hij ziet er prachtig uit: eigentijds, overzichtelijk. Dus Proefdiervrij had goede hoop op een modern maatschappelijk verantwoord standpunt over proefdiergebruik. Zoeken op ‘proefdier(en)’, ‘dierproef’ of ‘dierproeven’ levert echter geen treffer op.
Het standpunt van de gezamenlijke gezondheidsfondsen blijkt, diep weggestopt wel op hun website te staan. Klik hier.
Dat zegt dus echt niets. Het ontkent de verantwoordelijkheid die het Astmafonds als opdrachtgever heeft om een bijdrage te leveren aan het terugdringen van het proefdiergebruik.

Daarom het verzoek om een email te sturen naar het Astma Fonds. Want brieven sturen helpt! Als gevolg van onze e-mailactie is de Hartstichting nu serieus aan het nadenken hoe zij hun verantwoordelijkheid ten opzichte van proefdieren vorm willen geven. Help de proefdieren om ook het Astma Fonds over de streep te helpen. Je kunt de voorbeeld e-mail brief gebruiken. Maar je kunt natuurlijk ook een eigen mail sturen!

Geachte heer Rutgers,

Onlangs bezocht ik uw vernieuwde website. Hij ziet er fris en informatief uit. Na veel zoeken vond ik het standpunt van het Astma Fonds over proefdieren. En dat vond ik eerlijk gezegd wel teleurstellend. Bij zo’n moderne, overzichtelijke site past een modern, verantwoord standpunt over proefdieren. Uw standpunt is nogal behoudend en ontkent de verantwoordelijkheid die u als opdrachtgever heeft om een bijdrage te leveren aan terugdringen van het proefdiergebruik.
In het toxicologisch onderzoek en bij nanotechnologie wordt de weg van innovatieve wetenschap die niet is gebaseerd op diermodellen al ingeslagen. Het zou mooi zijn als het Astma Fonds wetenschappers nadrukkelijk zou verzoeken in het onderzoek naar longziektes naar nieuwe wegen te zoeken die beter zijn voor mens en dier.
Graag verneem ik van u of u mijn suggestie wilt overnemen.
