Een Duitse passagierstrein is vandaag in het noorden van Duitsland op een kudde koeien gebotst. De trein ontspoorde en een persoon kwam om het leven.
Het ongeluk had rond 17.45 uur plaats bij Bargum, zo’n 193 kilometer ten noorden van Hamburg. Naast het dodelijke slachtoffer zijn twee andere mensen lichtgewond geraakt. (AP/Redactie)

Hintergrund: Heute wurde ein aktuelles Video veröffentlicht, das Hundefänger zeigt, wie Sie in der Stadt Târovişte Straßenhunde einfangen, die dann entweder getötet oder in den angrenzenden Wäldern ausgesetzt werden.
Auf dem Video erkennt man genau, wie brutal sie vorgehen und welche Instrumente diese von der Gemeinde beauftragten Männer verwenden: Alte Drähte und Stahlrohre.
In Rosiori de Vede hat ein junges Mädchen am 11. Januar 2012 mehrer vergiftete Hunde und Katzen im Stadtpark gefunden. Die daraufhin alarmierte Polizei reagierte mit Desinteresse und nahm noch nicht einmal die Daten des Mädchens auf um den Fall zu klären.

Complete Veterinary Records for Monkey 2A4 (1992 – 2009)
The initial record confirms that 2A4 and nine other male monkeys were trapped in the jungles of Guyana in 1992, probably as babies (their mothers most likely murdered in front of them), and ripped from their homes and families. Terrified, bewildered, and disoriented, they were shipped to the US. We were unable to confirm which airline was responsible. The tragic fate of little 2A4 was then sealed when he, along with his nine comrades, were sold by Charles River to Vivisector Raymond J. Bergeron at the University of Florida.

A UF lab insider describes how these monkeys are then driven insane:
“[The monkeys are imprisoned in individual] cages as males would kill each other if housed together. Removed from their normal very social dynamic, the isolation makes them insane. I mean that literally. They are no longer normal monkeys as found in the wild. Most of these animals have been bred for this purpose (it’s cheaper), although some of the older ones were wild caught. I’m not sure which is worse. They’re given mirrors on the walls so they can see each other and dog toys to play with. This species (Cebus apella) is about the size of a skinny cat. It’s the “organ grinder” monkey, also called the capuchin monkey. The cages are about 2.5′ square. They have a false back in them that are attached to handles on the front. The researcher pulls the handles forcefully towards them, squeezing the monkey up against the front of the cage so that the anesthesia can be given. Monkeys are smart. They know how to evade all attempts to force them to do anything, especially after years of the same treatment. They learn how to fight back. That’s why this method of restraint is so stressful. They fight back so well, that you have to try again and again to get them pinned just right so you can get the needle into the thigh quickly. It’s always a two person job and never easy or unstressful.“
This records confirm that 2A4 was the subject of an iron chelation study: he was injected with an overload of iron that would compromise him for the duration of his life in order to test “chelating agents” or drugs that are intended to remove excess iron in humans. As we noted previously, a major Health Science Center’s benefactor suffered and died from Hemochromatosis, a disease where too much iron is absorbed. It is reasonable, therefore, to conclude that the human symptoms of this disease were perpetually induced in 2A4 throughout his terrifying imprisonment: abdominal pain, fatigue, joint pain, lack of energy, loss of body hair, weight loss, and weakness.

The vet records also reveal that, after 24A was wrenched from his squeeze cage, he was subjected to regular tuberculin tests that were injected into his eyelids. This is normal procedure to ensure that tuberculosis isn’t present. That disease will decimate an entire primate facility very quickly.
The legally-required documentation of the controlled substances used (Ketamine, Telazol) and other vet procedures illustrates the horryifying regimens to which 2A4 was subjected for 17 years. He was routinely “knocked down,” dragged from his cage, experimented on, thrown back in his cage, and left alone to languish until his tormentors returned. When moved within the Communicore Building, his tiny body would probably have been carried by hand from room to room to conduct invasive assaults on his fragile body because they are basically taking them down the hall to different rooms. This is generally done by holding their biceps behind their backs with both hands and holding the monkeys well away form the body in case they start to wake up. These leaked floor plans will allow one to chart how he was (and other nonhuman inmates are) transported unconscious through the underground animal prison labyrinths.
Finally, after 17 years of torment, 2A4 died at the gloved hands of one of his terrorists in 2009. There are two likely reasons for his death.

One reason may be that while he was fighting to escape his attackers, the anesthesia may have been injected into a vein, artery, or lung. Our UF insider explains:
“The anesthesia drugs are supposed to be delivered IM (intra-muscular) and an accidental IV injection would be fatal because it would go immediately to the brain and stop the heart instead of slowly being released over time from the muscle tissue. In normal injections, one pulls back on the syringe plunger a little first and if you see blood, you know you hit a vein and you would then withdraw and restick to be sure you hit muscle. Unfortunately, the monkeys are struggling against the restraint and squirming so much that you take your chances and go ahead and inject quickly if you are in the muscle area – and hope you don’t hit a vein. This also means you frequently hit bone (VERY painful) and nerves by accident too.”
The second possibility relates to the fact that 2A4 was made into a drug addict. Because these monkeys are “knocked down” so frequently, they become drug addicts and develop a resistance to the drugs used to subdue them:
“The larger and larger doses become more and more dangerous as the window between effective sedation and overdose becomes more and more narrow. This also lends itself to causing impatience in the technician who goes a bit overboard in trying to get the job done and the animal is continuing to fight to maintain consciousness.The monkeys must be drugged because they are extremely dangerous if handled any other way. Despite their small size, they can easily bite your finger off and cause sever damage to any other part of your body they get hold of (they will often go for your face).”
Again, the 17-year long incarceration of 2A4, his life of torture and murder at the hands of his tormentors, was regulated by and in full compliance with the strict guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act.

Seminar over ballastwater: de uitdagingen van het verdrag !

Het Ballastwaterverdrag is er op gericht om de verspreiding van exotische zee-organismen via het ballastwater van schepen tegen te gaan, Het Ballastwaterverdrag gaat vanaf 2014 wereldwijd gelden voor alle schepen.
Op 26 januari vindt hierover in Rozenburg (bij Rotterdam) een seminar plaats met als titel ‘Ballastwater, uitdagingen bij de implementatie van de conventie’. Het seminar is georganiseerd door het Platform Scheepsemissies.
Jaarlijks wordt tussen de 3.000 en 4.000 miljoen ton onbehandeld ballastwater geloosd in havens en kustgebieden. Hiermee worden naar schatting dagelijks meer dan 10.000 organismen in het ballastwater over de zeeën getransporteerd en geïntroduceerd in een andere omgeving. Daarmee is ballastwater wereldwijd de grootste bron van introduceren van invasieve (dier)soorten. Dit kan op lokaal en regionaal niveau zeer grote gevolgen hebben voor het mariene leefmilieu en de voedselvoorziening en bijvoorbeeld koelsystemen van elektriciteitsinstallaties.
Vanaf begin jaren ‘90 is dit onderwerp ook binnen de Internationale Maritieme Organisatie besproken wat naast vrijwillige guidelines geleid heeft tot de totstandkoming van het Ballastwaterverdrag in 2004.
Sprekers Tijdens het maritiem milieuseminar wordt ingegaan op de aankomende eisen en voor welke onderdelen nog nadere oplossingen nodig zijn maar ook hoe deze oplossingen worden gevonden. De heer Chris Karman, Manager Business Development bij IMARES, treedt gedurende het seminar op als dagvoorzitter.
De heer Brus van het ministerie van IenM start de middag met een overzicht van de (on)mogelijkheden van de (lokale) regels. Daarna spiegelt dhr. Van de Minkelis van de Koninklijke Vereniging van Nederlandse Reders (KVNR) voor hoe de laatste hordes genomen kunnen worden om alle schepen te kunnen laten voldoen aan de bepalingen. De heer Oosterhof van rederij Wagenborg gaat vervolgens in op waar een rederij haar keuze voor een bepaald systeem zal baseren. Goltens Green Technologies laat dan zien hoe zij aan de hand van foto’s van een technische ruimte een 3D model opzetten waarmee het retrofitting van het ballastwatersysteem een stuk eenvoudiger kan worden.
Na een korte pauze gaat dhr. Vink presenteren hoe Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (voormalig IVW) de monsters van ballastwater controleert. Namens het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam toont dhr. Prinssen de rol van de havens m.b.t. het Ballastwaterverdrag. Hij gaat daarnaast in op welke mogelijkheden er zijn met het aanbieden van ballastwaterinstallaties in havens. Ter afsluiting vindt aan het eind van de bijeenkomst een paneldiscussie plaats waarbij alle aanwezigen ruimschoots de gelegenheid krijgen om vragen te stellen.

EMST - De politie heeft in een weiland bij Emst op de Veluwe een aantal zwaar verwaarloosde paarden en pony’s gevonden. De dieren waren sterk vermagerd en uitgedroogd. De paarden stonden tot over hun enkels in de modder en de stal van de pony’s was zwaar vervuild.
De schrijnende situatie kwam aan het licht dankzij een melding bij het nieuwe dierenalarmnummer 144. In totaal gaat het om drie paarden en vier pony’s. De twee eigenaren zijn bekeurd. De politie zal erop toezien dat ze de leefomstandigheden van de dieren verbeteren.

De Thaise autoriteiten hebben meer dan 750 honden gered van een wisse dood. De viervoeters werden door de Thaise kustwacht gered uit handen van smokkelaars die de honden naar Vietnam wilden smokkelen waar ze als eindbestemming de kookpot zouden krijgen.
Het eten van honden is in Thailand niet verboden maar het smokkelen wel.
De honden werden in roestige kooien aangetroffen op een vrachtwagen. De vrachtwagen stond bij een veerpont te wachten om de rivier de Mekong over te steken naar Laos. Vanuit Laos zouden de honden worden vervoerd naar Vietnam, waar hondenvlees een delicatesse is.
Een Thaise man werd gearresteerd. De andere smokkelaars wisten te ontkomen. De honden zijn overgebracht naar een asiel in de provincie Nakhon Phanom.
In 2011 redden de Thaise autoriteiten ongeveer tweeduizend honden die op het punt stonden naar Vietnam te worden gesmokkeld. Daarna is er niets meer over vernomen.
Eten van honden in Thailand: In Thailand eet men ook hond. De Thaise bevolking wil en zal dit nooit toegeven en zullen meestal zeggen dat alleen mensen afkomstig uit Laos, Vietnam of Cambodja dit eten. Maar dit is absoluut niet waar. Er zijn hondenvlees markten in moderne steden in het Noorden van Thailand al sinds jaren. Een ooggetuige heeft bijvoorbeeld met eigen ogen gezien hoe een bouwvakker een pup open en bloot had gekookt op een vuur. Veel straathonden maar ook gestolen honden van particulieren worden vanuit Thailand naar China geëxporteerd. Dagenlang zitten de honden op een vrachtwagen op elkaar gepropt in veels te kleine kooien, zonder water of voedsel met als eindbestemming China.. Hier worden ze meestal levend gevild voor de vacht. Het vlees is tegenwoordig nu zelfs een bijproduct geworden. Een ooggetuige heeft deze foto van een transport gemaakt. De foto spreekt boekdelen.
Hondenhuiden handel in Thailand: Een gruwelijke handel in hondenhuiden in het noorden van Thailand kost maandelijks het leven aan zo’n 30.000 honden. De honden worden in een van de vijf slachthuizen in Sakhon Nakon gevild (soms levend) waarna hun huiden worden doorverkocht. Luxeartikelen die gemaakt zijn van Thaise hondenhuiden zijn al aangetroffen in grote winkelstraten in West-Europa met de vermelding “ Echt Leder”, “Orthopedisch Leer” of “Lamsleer”.

Het is in de E.U. niet verboden om hondenhuiden te importeren en te verkopen, maar de fabrikanten van portefeuilles, autobekleding en lederen kledij geven liever niet toe dat ze hondenhuiden gebruiken want dan zal de verkoop teruglopen. Op de label wordt meestal vermeld: lam, geit, of een exotische diersoort. Die dieren worden nu eenmaal gemakkelijker aanvaardt als “leverancier” van dierenhuiden.
Honden opkopers trekken van dorp naar dorp om er honden te kopen of de dieren worden gewoon van de straat geplukt of gestolen.
De honden worden met velen tegelijk in één kooi gepropt en gaan dan op transport naar één van de vijf geheime slachterijen in het Noordoosten van Thailand. Het transport kan soms dagen lang duren. Ze krijgen geen eten of drinken. Veel honden komen al doodziek of halfdood in de slachterij aan. Daar worden ze met een haak in de nek uit de kooi getrokken en bewusteloos geslagen. Dan wordt de keel open gesneden en worden ze gevild. Velen van hen zijn nog puppies
Dierenrechtenactivisten die de slachtingen incognito bijwoonden stelden vast dat sommige honden niet gedood werden voor het villen en dus levend gevild werden.
De hondenhuiden worden per container naar Korea, Taiwan, Japan en China verscheept. Aan de lopende band worden ze verwerkt tot luxegoederen die ook hun weg vinden naar de Europese markt. Zelfs in dierenwinkels worden restanten van Thaise hondenhuiden gevonden. Ze worden verwerkt in hondensnoepjes en kauwbeenderen. Dus wij voeren onwetend onze huisdieren met de kadavers van hun Thaise soortgenoten.

De Thaise marine heeft honderden honden gered. Ze werden over een rivier naar Vietnam gesmokkeld om daar te worden opgegeten.
De 800 honden zaten in kooien op een vrachtwagen. De smokkelaars waren de kooien net aan het overladen op een boot. Een man is opgepakt, de andere smokkelaars vluchtten snel weg.
Er werden ook honderd lege kooien gevonden, die waren teruggekomen uit Vietnam. Volgens de marine heeft de smokkelbende al zeker tweeduizend honden de grens over gebracht.
De honden worden gebruikt in maaltijden tijdens Chinees Nieuwjaar. Dat begint op 23 januari.

Over de rivier in Nakhon Phanom worden honden na drugs en hout het meest gesmokkeld.
In het grensgebied tussen Thailand en Vietnam worden geregeld honden verhandeld. In augustus onderschepte de politie in Thailand 1800 honden, die ook richting eettafels in Vietnam werden vervoerd.
Met het Chinees nieuwjaar in zicht, moeten de honden in zuid-oost-Azië oppassen. In Thailand is een hondensmokkelaar gearresteerd...(meer)met 800 honden bij zich.

The girl is seen kicking the pup 14 times, kneeing it 26 times and hitting it with its lead eight times. She slaps it 17 times and stamps on it ten times.
Last night Jasper's owner Ray Green, in his 60s, choked back tears after seeing the horrific film. Mr Green, who uses a mobility scooter, had let the girl — the daughter of a close pal — take the 18-month-old dog for walks.

But after seeing the video he said she would never walk Jasper again.
Mr Green, of Keighley, West Yorks, said: "I've seen enough.
"I can't believe it. Jasper is a playful thing and is well-treated.
"She was supposed to be teaching him to walk on a lead. What she did is not right. I am really shocked."
The girl's family were stunned when they saw the video — and revealed they had thought that she was an "animal lover". The family has a cat — and had planned to buy the girl a puppy.
Her stunned dad shook his head in disbelief after seeing the film with Mr Green and said: "I don't understand where this has come from.

"She loves animals. She walks a few people's dogs. A man down the road said she'd end up a vet.
"She'll not be getting a dog now. I can't believe what I have just seen."
He said he would be talking at length to his daughter — who he said would be "grounded". The attack was filmed by a neighbour in a field near his home. The neighbour, who asked not to be named, said he filmed it as evidence after seeing previous abuse.
He said: "I'd seen her jerk his lead before but nothing like this. I couldn't believe it. It looked like torture.
"The dog was cowering. It tried to defend itself but she just punched it hard. She should be banned from having a pet for at least ten years.
"In a few years she might be a babysitter and who knows what she might do. I couldn't believe it was able to walk after all she had put it through.
"It must have been bruised all over. I hope the authorities take some action."

Tihomir has been absolutely amazing. A kind, gentle soul – he is like a little puppy learning to live and love. He is a big, clumsy boy, 1.5 years old and totally baby-like. He is so playful, so curious, so friendly – everything is new and interesting to him.
Having lived on a chain for a year, then in the shelter clinic for another 6 months, Tiho is absolutely mad about people, hugs and walks. He will play non-stop with you. When the weekends come, the volunteers give him time to romp around and he embraces the opportunity to have fun.
Sofia Rescue says Tiho is a miraculous angel, and that the family who chooses him will be adopting a big, friendly teddy-bear. Of course, given his location (Bulgaria) the majority of our readers will not be eligible to apply for the opportunity to adopt this four-legged wonder, but there is still a way to help: donate.

Bucharest. Romania's constitutional court on Wednesday ruled against a bill allowing local authorities to put down stray dogs, two months after it was passed by lawmakers, AFP reported. The court ruled that several articles of the bill violated the constitution. The bill stipulated that adult dogs living in refuges which are not claimed or adopted within 30 days can be put to sleep. More than a hundred opposition MPs and several animal rights groups challenged the law, stressing that sterilising dogs would be a more humane and cheaper solution !

children playing in their gardens when they tried to scape from being
slaughtered. They tried to run for their lives because they didn't want to die,
just like you or me would do, but they were shown no compassion or mercy. Humans
decided that they deserve to die so they were shot.
When people consume dairy, you are actually
paying for this to happen, if you stop consume dairy, this will also
stop.
People
try to stop animals from being tortured and abused whilst still accepting the
idea of animals being used as commodities for food or other purposes (treat them
nicely, but still kill them so I can eat them). I think they will find tha...t this is an
impossible task. If people want to put an end to the abuse and torture of these
animals, they first thing one must do is realise that abuse and torture are
natural ramifications of this mentality that they must die in order for us to
eat their bodies. If we want to end abuse and torture, we must first learn to
respect their lives (the most precious thing to them), if we cannot respect
their lives we cannot expect others to respect them at all. We continue to
kill unnecessarily and even go as far as compare ourselves to foxes and lions
(animal that have no choice in the matter, they don’t kill they die) in order to
continue killing without any remorse. If humans don’t kill, there’s a great
chance that they will live longer. We refuse to educate ourselves even though
billion of lives depend on our education. We choose to remain blind to the
suffering of other and then we so very casually call it “the circle of
life” Where's the compassion? We know they suffer, we know
that we can offer them a life where we don’t exploit them and yet we do it
anyway. We knowingly kill and eat them when we don’t need to. We try to shed any
feeling of guilt that may arise with misconceptions and keep telling ourselves
that “we do care about animals” and some may well care about animals, but just
as long as they don’t have to stop killing them because they enjoy the taste of
their flesh.
Where’s the humanity? We don’t even make an effort to grow
as people, to better ourselves. We’re happy to be part of a world full of
suffering, not exclusive to animals, and we are full of excuses and ridiculous
explanations instead of just accepting the truth and doing something about it.
Doing something to regain the very thing that makes us humans, our
humanity.
Cows are
kicked, prodded, beaten. In some slaughterhouses, they are also hung by their
one foot from the ceiling while they wait to be 'stunned' before they are
slaughtered.... They die horrific deaths. Factory farming, slaughter,
none of it is humane. The truth of the matter is, as much as people want to
believe that the cows or pigs or chickens have a wonderful life before they are
slaughtered, they don't. They live short lives and die sickening deaths, their
fear and fear induced adrenaline runs in their blood and when you eat meat, you
eat their fear, you are also exposed to cancer and other diseases, but most of
all, it is the arrogance of humans that they believe they are the more
intelligent species and that they can take the life of an tortured animal and
eat it's meat. Would you eat the corps of a human? It's the same thing. Did you
know that eating a vegetarian diet would end world hunger? Did you know that
most farming involves animal torture and abuse? It's all about awareness, it's
all about morals and values and the value of life, of all
sentients. Earth would
not be overpopulated or chaotic if we didn't eat animals. Everyone has their own
opinion, the fact of the matter is, do you mind that an animal was tortured so
that you could eat it? Would you mind if someone tortured your dog or cat and
ate it? It's the same thing. A cat is a dog is a cow is a pig...

If Wikipedia Jimmy Wales' threat to turn off the crowd-sourced encyclopedia to protest the Stop Internet Piracy Act (SOPA) sent you into a cold sweat, you won't welcome this news.
Google, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Zynga — and oh sweet baby Jesus no! — Etsy, along with other Internet-based companies take a "nuclear option" and "go simultaneously dark" in protest of the bill, and to "highlight the fundamental danger the legislation poses to the function of the Internet," ExtremeTech reports:
There’s been no formal decision on the matter, and the companies in question obviously risk consumer anger and backlash over any suspension of services. There is, however, safety in numbers — and a few simple sentences identifying why the blackout is in place will ensure that the majority of the rage flows in the proper direction.
SOPA, which the U.S. House Judiciary Committee is set to review later this month, makes the streaming of unauthorized content a felony. Further, the "vague language would create devastating new tools for silencing legitimate speech all around the Web," warns the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It's a concern shared by free speech and digital rights activists, as well as many major Internet-based companies.
Protests against SOPA went mainstream in December when members of the Reddit community organized a protest against Web-hosting giant Go Daddy for its initial SOPA support. More than 37,000 domains were transferred as part of the "Dump Go Daddy" protest, leading the company to make a solid statement opposing SOPA.
In anticipation of the hearing, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales conducted a straw poll recently to gauge Wikipedian interest in a community strike — a blackout of either the U.S. Wikipedia pages, or even the entire site. At that time, 87 percent of respondents were in favor of a strike.
Now, as part of the NetCoalition trade association, these companies are joining Wikipedia's Wikimedia Foundation in a possible Internet blackout:

I was
born a Muslim and lived all my life as a follower of Islam.
After the barbaric
terrorist attacks done by the hands of my fellow Muslims everywhere on this
globe, and after the too many violent acts by Islamists in many parts of the
world, I feel responsible as a Muslim and as a human being to speak out and tell
the truth to protect the world and Muslims as well from a coming catastrophe and
war of civilizations.
I have to admit that
our current Islamic teaching creates violence and hatred toward non-Muslims.
We Muslims
are the ones who need to change. Until now we have
accepted polygamy, the beating of women by men, and killing those who convert
from Islam to other religions.
We have never had a
clear and strong stand against the concept of slavery or wars, to spread our
religion and to subjugate others to Islam and force them to pay a humiliating
tax called jizia. We ask others to respect our religion while all the time we
curse non-Muslims loudly (in Arabic) in our Friday prayers in the
mosques.
What message do we
convey to our children when we call the Jews "descendants of the pigs and
monkeys"? [Yet, both Arabs and Jews are descendants of Ibrahim (Abraham)!]
Is this a message of love and peace, or a message of hate?
I have been into
[Christian] churches and [Jewish] synagogues where they were praying for
Muslims. While all the time, we curse them, and teach our generations to call
them "infidels", and to hate them.
We immediately jump in
a 'knee jerk reflex' to defend Prophet Mohammad when someone accuses him of
being a pedophile while, at the same time, we are proud with the story in our
Islamic books that he married a young girl seven years old [Aisha]when he was
above 50 years old.
I am sad to say that
many, if not most of us, rejoiced in happiness after September 11th and after
many other terror attacks.
Muslims denounce these
attacks to look good in front of the media, but we condone the Islamic
terrorists and sympathise with their cause. Until now our 'reputable' top
religious authorities have never issued a fatwa or religious statement to
proclaim Bin Laden as an apostate, while an author, like Rushdie, was declared
an apostate who should be killed according to Islamic Shari'a law just for
writing a book criticizing Islam.
Muslims demonstrated to
get more religious rights as we did in France to stop the ban on the hijab (head
scarf), while we did not demonstrate with such passion and in such numbers
against the terrorist murders. It is our abs olute silence against the
terrorists that gives the energy to these terrorists to continue doing their
evil acts.
We Muslims need to stop
blaming our problems on others or on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. As a
matter of honesty, Israel is the only light of democracy, civilization, and
human rights in the whole Middle East.
We kicked out the Jews
with no compensation or mercy from most of the Arab countries to make them
"Jews-free countries" while Israel accepted more than a million Arabs to live
there, have their own nationality, and enjoy their rights as human beings. In
Israel, women cannot be beaten legally by men, and any person can change his/her
belief system with no fear of being killed by the Islamic law of 'apostasy,'
while in our Islamic world people do not enjoy any of these
rights.
I agree that the
'Palestinians' suffer, but they suffer because of their corrupt leaders and
not because of Israel.
It is not common to see
Arabs who live in Israel leaving to live in the Arab world. On the other hand,
we used to see thousands of Palestinians going to work with happiness in Israel,
its 'enemy.' If Israel treats Arabs badly as some people claim, surely we
would have seen the opposite happening.
We Muslims need to
admit our problems and face them. Only then we can treat them and start a new
era to live in harmony with human mankind. Our religious leaders have to show a
clear and very strong stand against polygamy, pedophilia, slavery, killing those
who convert from Islam to other religions, beating of women by men, and
declaring wars on non-Muslims to spread Islam.
Then, and only then, do
we have the right to ask others to respect our religion. The time has come to
stop our hypocrisy and say it openly: 'We Muslims have to
change.'

WE URGE YOU TO STOP ANY PROCESS FOR ADOPTING THE STRAY
DOG KILLING WE URGE YOU to STOP ANY PROCESS of PL 912 for modification and
completion of OUG 155/2001 for stray dog management because:
1) it is
an aggregate of UNCONSTITUTIONAL, ABSURD, ABUSIVE, ILLEGAL PROVISIONS
contradicting all ethical norms and all European directives, provisions,
indications
First, these regulations, violate the right to private
property, as stipulated in the Art 44 and 136 from the Romanian
Constitution, such as, a lost dog or apparently left free still IS some
one's property. Hence, is the animal is picked-up, taken to a shelter and
killed after three days, without announcing publicly the place from where
the dog has been taken, the date, and the physical description of the dog,
the owner can not find his dog and can not even find out what happened to
his dog. Legally, in such cases the person who lost his dog (whose dog
was taken), is entitled to claim a theft from his private
property.
Second – to confiscate a private good (property) which has not
been destined, used or is the result of an infraction is BANNED by the
Romanian Constitution (Art.21)
2) Romania fails to take into
account the following:
• The absolute failure of the last decade to
control the stray dog population by mass euthanasia, quite literally
hundreds of thousands of dogs have been killed without any visible results
of the street population, • The view and opinion of the entirety of EU
citizens, • The outcomes of the World Health Organisation’s study
(undertaken between 1981 and 1988) through which the WHO Geneva concluded
that the sole solution for the dog population control is spaying/neutering,
not “the euthanasia programmes which are both inefficient and
expensive”, • The Lisbon Treaty (art. 13, TFEU) - it states that the “animals
are sentient beings” • the European Convention for the protection of
animals, ratified by Romania through Law 60/2004, • Law 205/2004 on the
protection of animals (=FRAMEWORK law), as amended and supplemented through
Law 9/2008, by which the euthanasia of healthy animals is forbidden, •
the Written declaration no 26, adopted on October 13th, 2011 by the
European Parliament, that provides for sterilisation, identification,
registration as methods of management of the dog population, • Taking
into account that: • the mass killing does not solve the stray dogs’
situation, but, on the contrary, it maintains a constant dog
population; • the disastrous situation in the shelters managed by the city
halls in which the dogs die from hunger, illnesses or they are killed
through cruel, illegal methods, however huge amounts of tens of
millions of euros are „spent” (fictively) for „managing” the stray
dogs, • it is as obvious as possible for the entire public opinion and mass
media in Romania, but even in the EU, that behind the so-called concern
for the safety and care for citizens, there is an extremely important
reason, namely the mega business for making money by means of the dog mass
killing.
WE URGE YOU TO IMPLEMENT THE ONLY PRACTICAL AND PERMANENT
SOLUTION: ‘NEUTER & RETURN’ PROGRAM
Because:
• ‘Neutering
& Return’ program, where it has been applied has proved to be the ONLY
SOLUTION to reduce the stray dog population - up to disappearance •
‘Neutering & Return’ program is economical - sterilization is 5 times
cheaper than euthanasia; • ‘Neutering & Return’ program is moral,
civilized - the solutions that protect animals’ life and animal welfare are
in compliance with the principles of modern ethics and the principles of
the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights, fosters respect for life,
prevents the psychological and moral extremely negative impact of cruel
methods, prevents increase of aggression and of the individual aggression
within society (killing animals leads to sensations that criminal cases
are normal)

Ms. Striffer,
I am writing
with horror concerning the ‘euthanasia’ policies adopted by the Romanian
Parliament over the last 48h concerning the stray dogs and cats of the
country.
Perhaps the Romanian government is unaware of how conspicuous
this decision has become on an international scale and the revulsion it
has caused.
Romanian local government officials are operating under
false pretenses in terms of promises made to their citizens and the
misappropriation of tax funds.
For the last decade or so, there has
been an abominable policy to euthanize stray dogs and cats living on the
streets of most Romanian cities, and in particular, its capital,
Bucharest.
There have been budgets allocated to destroy animals that
allegedly pose a threat to public health and safety, utilizing "humane
means". These so-called “humane means” have been repeatedly documented as
rapidly "achieving high death count numbers" on appearance, by
abandoning all humane practices and simply employing barbaric serial
slaughtering techniques.
These practices have been investigated
under-cover and are now well-publicized worldwide. The presumed funds saved
by these alternative savage methods are not, however, so easily accounted
for.
The killings and subsequent covering up of the theft of public
funds in Romania are now becoming not just accepted, but actual mandated
conventions. This underscores a devolution process of humanity and is
readily seen by people abroad particularly throughout the rest of
Europe and America.
This is not simply a disgrace to Romania and its
people, but also an ugly ignominy and dishonor to the European Community as
a whole, particularly with Romania being a member of the E.U. where there
is a certain standard of civility that should prevail.
Furthermore,
what has been carried out and widely witnessed has become what can only be
termed as a hidden MURDER BUSINESS for sheer PROFIT. More and more common
in Romania and now a legal political / economic policy, it is glossed over
with slick media propaganda campaigns to disguise obscene
reality.
It is vital that you are aware that stray animals already
sterilized are also being targeted for slaughter by corrupt, self-serving
contractors operating with impunity through public policies for
profit.
The vast majority of animals left on the street are left
unsterilized in what can only be characterized as a brilliant strategy
insuring an endless supply of hapless stray victims for slaughter - fodder
for this ever-growing and repugnant "Death Industry".
To many of us
here in America this is a horror film. However, Ms Striffler, the
statistics cannot lie. The reality is that these policies have only served
to steadily increase the street populations of stray animals and thus the
propaganda machine is easily fed for the budgetary demands of a despicable
means to an end.
On this current course, the situation can only
worsen.
Instead of allocating funds for these infernal executions,
perhaps it would be more advisable to institute a full reorganization.
Unfortunately, the current policies go unregulated as the mandates
invite an even more persistent attraction for abuse and
corruption.
Please consider a new plan to build a realistic and working
infrastructure that aggressively supports wide-spread sterilization /
release programs, which, incidentally, would only be a fraction of the
existing operating costs, in contrast to the current "killing industry"
which is rife with layer upon layer of "hand in pocket" corruption - yet a
further malfeasance for any just regulatory body to ignore.
Along
with the fiscal savings resulting from surplus funds accumulated, perhaps a
second stage of public education would be beneficial, restoring a thought
process of humanity rather than de-evolving to ruthless, unethical
practices.
Special programs to encourage children and young people’s
understanding of natural and environmental concerns linked to animal
welfare could lead to wide-spread adoption programs, bypassing and
almost eliminating the need for expensive vet costs and animal
sanctuary/control facilities, both prone to ethical violations and
corruption.
There is another important consideration to be made: When
other corrupt contractors within the EU witness the ease with which such a
blood-thirsty profit can be made, the viral fire could spread to other
parts of Europe thus portraying a brutal, savage and shameful image to
the rest of the world
During these difficult times of economic
recession, the current misappropriation of Romanian tax-payers’ funds and
known barbaric criminal conduct carried out by ‘euthanasia’ contractors
and government officials operating with personal interests (rather than
public) cries out to be made an example of on an international
scale.
Civil society across not only Europe but the entire world has a
right to see that this deteriorating sense of de-evolution is not
permissable in 2011 and that the EU’s role of responsibility will be
exercised in no uncertain terms – both for the good of man and for the
good of the animals concerned in the name of legality, morality and
humanity.

Ukraine – Am Tag des orthodoxen Weihnachtsfestes am 6. Jänner, ein Tag des Friedens und der Ruhe, wurde von Tierschützern in Gorlovka bei Donetsk ein Massengrab von grausam getöteten Hunden entdeckt.
Übersetzung bzw. Erklärung des Videos: Die Tierschutzaktivisten – in der Ukraine auch Volontäre genannt (wir haben darüber bereits berichtet) – scheuen sich zu der Grube raufzugehen, weil sie Angst haben vor dem, was sie da sehen könnten. Man hört die Stimme von Arnold dem Volontär, der auch gefilmt hat.
Dieser sagt, dass die Volontäre meinen, dass da sei sicher kein Hund mehr am Leben sei. Die Hundefänger hätten sicher die Hunde betäubt, lebendig in die Grube geworfen und dann mit Beton übergossen. Man sieht auch, dass ein Hund Verletzungen an der Brust hat. Bei einem weiteren steckt noch eine Spritze im Körper, wie man vom Rand der Grube deutlich erkennen kann.
Wer den ukrainischen Straßentieren helfen will, kann dies mit unserer Ukraine Hilfsaktion tun.
Ein Tierschützer und ein privater Kameramann wollten wissen, was an den Gerüchten von grausamen Zuständen in unseren Schlachthäusern dran sei. Sie sind Beobachtungen, daß Tieren immer wieder unbetäubt "die Beine abgeschnitten bekämen oder ins Brühwasser getaucht" würden, nachgegangen.
Sogar ein Landwirt berichtete, daß ein Stier, nachdem er mit dem Bolzenschußapparat geschossen und an einem Hinterbein hochgezogen war, noch herzzerreißend gebrüllt hätte, während er bereits aufgeschnitten wurde. Auch bei der Schlachtung von Schweinen, vor allem bei Akkordarbeit, käme es zu fürchterlichen individuellen Todeskämpfen, weil die Tiere nicht ausreichend betäubt würden.
Die vorliegende Video-Dokumentation zeigt, wie den Tieren bereits beim Auf- und Entladen auf bzw. vom Tiertransporter mit Stöcken direkt ins Gesicht geschlagen wird. Sie werden mit Mistgabeln traktiert, mit elektrischen Viehtreibern geschockt oder durch Umdrehen des Schwanzes zum Gehen gezwungen. Der Gestank, zuerst nach Kadaver, weiter drinnen nach Blut, läßt die Tiere ihr Schicksal erahnen und versetzt sie offensichtlich in Todesangst. Jenes Tier, das jeweils im engen Gang unmittelbar vor der Tötungsbox steht, kann das blutige Gemetzel schon sehen, das ihm bevorsteht. Einmal in dieser Tötungsbox gibt es kein Entrinnen mehr. Der Bolzenschußapparat wird an der Stirn angesetzt, ein Knall und das Tier sackt augenblicklich weg. Aber der Stier ist noch nicht tot, er sollte jedoch betäubt sein...
Die Tiere werden nun mit einer Eisenkette am Hinterbein hochgezogen und hängen kopfüber am Fließband. Durch einen Stich in die Halsschlagader sollen sie zum Verbluten gebracht werden. Wann genau der Tod eintritt, weiß niemand. Der Stier, der für das AMA-"Gütesiegel" vorgesehen ist, hängt nun an einem Bein am Fließband, der Schlächter schneidet ihm den Hals auf, Blut bricht hervor, der angeblich betäubte Körper zuckt zusammen. Da geschieht etwas, das jeden Betrachter erschaudern läßt: Während der Schlächter, den Hals aufschlitzt, öffnen sich die Augen des Tieres langsam, einmal und noch einmal. Dann beginnt der Stier, während er kopfüber hängend aufgeschnitten wird, um zu Fleisch verarbeitet zu werden, zu brüllen! Es ist auf der Videodokumentation klar und deutlich zu sehen und zu hören. Das halb aufgeschnittene Tier am Fließband lebt noch und schreit! Ein schauderhaftes, heiserr-gurgelndes Muhen übertönt den Lärm des Schlachtvorganges. Der Schlächter, der die Vorderhufe abschneidet, muß in Deckung gehen. Denn nun bäumt sich der mächtige Stier blutüberströmt am Haken noch einige Male auf. Das sterbende Tier windet sich mit ganzer Kraft. Der Todeskampf dauert lange Minuten...
Een dieptrieste dag voor de straathonden in Roemenië. Ondanks de maandenlange lobby van dierenorganisaties heeft het Roemeense parlement dinsdag toch besloten om een controversiële wet aan te nemen die het mogelijk maakt duizenden zwerfhonden te doden.
Dierenbeschermers verzamelden zich dinsdag in het parlementsgebouw om politici ervan te overtuigen niet voor de wet te stemmen, ze riepen op om geld te investeren in sterilisatieprogramma’s.
Volgens lokale media leven er naar schatting alleen al in de straten van Boekarest 50.000 honden. Veel honden raakten dakloos toen eind jaren ’80 de communistische dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu oude huizen liet afbreken en deze liet vervangen door flatgebouwen. Veel hondeneigenaren werden gedwongen afscheid te nemen van hun viervoeters, die vervolgens letterlijk op straat kwamen te leven.
Tegenwoordig maken de honden onderdeel uit van het straatbeeld en worden zij door de meeste bewoners geaccepteerd.
Niet alleen dierenbeschermers zijn fel tegen de wet. Ook corruptiebestrijders claimen dat de maatregel een cynische truc is om lokale overheden te verrijken, omdat zij veel geld krijgen om de honden te doden.
Alleen president Trajan Basescu moet nog tekenen voordat de wet in werking treedt en hij is dus ook degene die dit een halt toe kan roepen.
Daarom houdt PiepVandaag.nl een email- en petitieactie om de president te laten inzien dat dit niet kan en mag gebeuren! Elke ondertekening wordt inclusief de petitietekst doorgestuurd naar het emailadres van president Traian Basescu. Tevens worden alle verzamelde handtekeningen aangeboden bij de Roemeense ambassade.
Teken en email mee en geef een duidelijk signaal dat dit geen oplossing is!

On 22nd November 2011, the Romanian Parliament voted in favour of legalisation that would permit the mass culling of street dogs. This would allow stray dogs to be rounded up, taken off the streets and kept for 30 days in shelters before being euthanised.
It is argued that these stray animals create a public health hazard. A couple of rare incidents of people being attacked and killed by such dogs have been well-publicised and are being used as justification for the introduction of such draconian measures.
Animal protection organisations working both in and outside Romania have consistently promoted sterilisation programmes as a means of humanely controlling and reducing the street dog population. The Romanian Parliament has ignored their advice instead voting for more brutal methods. It has been claimed that local authorities will profit from the stray dog control measures since they would be granted funding to carry out the capture and killing of dogs.
The Romanian President must still sign off on this legislation. He is the only person who can now stop the government sponsored culling of homeless dogs. Take action now and write to him to urge him to reject this cruel and pointless legislation!

UPDATE'Hoe ernstig dierenmishandeling -en verwaarlozing ook is, mijn constatering blijft dat iedere agent die wordt ingezet voor de aanpak van dierenleed, niet kan worden ingezet voor de bestrijding van overvallen, kinderporno en woninginbraken.' Dat zei korpschef Henk van Essen van de politie Haaglanden vandaag in zijn nieuwjaarstoespraak.
Van Essen voegde eraan toe dat zijn korps 'zich desalniettemin conformeert aan de landelijke prioriteiten'.
Vanaf vandaag telt Haaglanden negen zogenoemde animal cops.
De politiechef ging ook in op de vorming van de Nationale Politie. Bij Van Essen bestaat de vrees dat lokale en regionale prioriteiten het misschien moeten afleggen tegen landelijke speerpunten. 'We moeten ons blijven richten op misdrijven met een hoge impact: woninginbraken, overvallen, straatroven en geweldsdelicten. De landelijke speerpunten moeten gebaseerd zijn op de regionale problemen en niet andersom. Op die manier blijven we als politie zo dicht mogelijk bij de burger', aldus Van Essen.
De korpschef eindigde enigszins in mineur. Volgens hem lopen sommige groepen jongeren risico op het slechte pad terecht te komen. 'De economische situatie is slecht en dat gaat gevolgen hebben voor de ontwikkeling van de criminaliteit. Zelfs de vorming van een Nationale Politie kan dat niet voorkomen.' (ANP/ Redactie)
Twee broers (58 en 60 jaar) zijn vanavond op een boerenbedrijf aan de Beunksteeg in het Gelderse Hengelo om het leven gekomen nadat ze in een stal waren aangevallen door een stier. Dat meldde een woordvoerster van de politie.
De slachtoffers, de eigenaren van het bedrijf, waren in de stal om een pasgeboren kalf bij de koeien weg te halen. De stier brak door een hek heen en viel de mannen aan. Zij overleden ter plaatse aan hun verwondingen.
Hulpverleners hebben nog geprobeerd de slachtoffers te reanimeren. Zij waren gewaarschuwd door de echtgenote van een van de mannen. De stier zal worden afgemaakt, aldus de woordvoerster. (ANP/ Redactie)

Gemiddeld bellen circa 500 mensen dagelijks met het landelijk alarmnummer 144 voor meldingen van dierenmishandeling. Het nummer werd vorig jaar opengesteld.
De politie zei vandaag dat van deze telefoontjes er 60 worden doorverbonden naar de dierenambulance, de dierenpolitie of de Dierenbescherming.
De meldlijn kreeg in december vooral veel meldingen van paarden in modderige weilanden of honden die een groot deel van de dag in de tuin worden gehouden.
Minister Ivo Opstelten (Veiligheid en Justitie) sprak begin december nog van 1000 telefoontjes per dag. (ANP/ Redactie )
Veel jonge zeehonden zijn door het stormachtige weer van de afgelopen dagen in de problemen gekomen. Dat meldt de zeehondencrèche van Lenie 't Hart op de website. De crèche in Pieterburen zit met 320 zeehonden bomvol.
De zeehondjes worden uit alle delen van ons land naar Pieterburen gebracht. Gisteren werden er 26 jonge dieren naar de crèche gebracht. Die kwamen van de stranden van Zeeland, de Friese kust de Noordzeekust en de Waddeneilanden. En vanochtend werden er alweer vijf zeehonden afgeleverd. Het is vooral de harde wind die de dieren parten speelt.
Veel beestjes zijn erg mager en hebben longproblemen. Veel zeehonden hebben moeite om visjes te vangen en zijn daardoor verzwakt.
Op het terrein is een grote tent neergezet waar de dieren liggen. Maar ook in badkuipen en andere baden liggen de zeehonden. Tientallen vrijwilligers en de betaalde krachten hebben er hun handen vol aan, zegt de medewerkster. (ANP/ Redactie)
Voor de tweede keer in een maand is een zeldzame Kemps zeeschildpad aangespoeld aan de Noordzeekust. In december werd een levend exemplaar gevonden in het Nederlandse Monster, dit keer spoelde volgens de NOS een dode schildpad aan in het Belgische Koksijde.
Het dier was ongeveer twee jaar oud en 25 centimeter groot.
De Kemps schildpad komt normaal gesproken alleen voor in de Golf van Mexico. Het is de kleinste in zijn soort en ook de meest bedreigde zeeschildpad.
De schildpad die in Monster aanspoelde is opgevangen door Sealife in Scheveningen en gaat tegenwoordig door het leven als Flip. Als hij weer is aangesterkt, wordt hij uitgezet in Mexico.

De Australische Erin Fell dacht 2012 op een originele manier te beginnen: met een bungeejump van 110 meter boven de beroemde Zambezi-rivier op de grens tussen Zimbabwe en Zambia. Puntje van aandacht: de rivier zit vol met krokodillen.
En dan gaat er werkelijk alles mis wat er maar mis kan gaan. Op zo'n 25 meter van het water breekt plots het bungeekoord. Met de benen bij elkaar gebonden stort de Australische in het water, terwijl nieuwsgierige krokodillen dichterbij komen.
Half verdoofd door de klap moet ze dan proberen -met vastgebonden benen- de oever van de rivier in Zimbabwe zien te bereiken, dwars door de ijskoude stroming heen, en ondertussen moet ze proberen de krokodillen voor te blijven.
Uiteindelijk lukt het haar om de kant te bereiken. Artsen in het ziekenhuis spreken van een wonder dat ze er zonder al te ernstige verwondingen vanaf is gekomen. De Australische kan in het bovenstaande filmpje van Sky News inmiddels voorzichtig een beetje lachen om dit hachelijke avontuur. De verantwoordelijke organisatie meldt op haar website dat de defecte koorden inmiddels vervangen zijn.
Drie Australische activisten zijn vandaag aan boord van een Japanse walvisjager geklommen. Ze worden nu vastgehouden aan boord van het schip, de Shonan Maru 2. Natuurorganisatie Sea Shepherd heeft dat gemeld. De groepering hielp het drietal bij de actie voor de kust van de stad Perth in het westen van Australië.
De drie activisten zijn betrokken bij de Australische beweging Forest Rescue. Ze zeggen Sea Shepherd te willen helpen in de strijd tegen de Japanse jacht op walvissen in het Zuidpoolgebied.
De Shonan Maru 2 had de afgelopen dagen de rollen in het conflict omgedraaid. De walvisvaarder achtervolgde het vlaggenschip van Sea Shepherd, de Steve Irwin. Dat schip, dat onder Nederlandse vlag vaart, was op weg van Australië naar de wateren rond de Zuidpool. Door de Shonan Maru 2 te enteren, willen de drie activisten voorkomen dat de Japanners ,,de Steve Irwin achtervolgen naar het walvisreservaat in de zuidelijke oceaan'', zeggen ze in een verklaring. Een rechter in het Italiaanse Lecce heeft geoordeeld dat schapen in het stadje Fasano, in het zuiden van het land, een luier om moeten als ze op de openbare weg lopen.
Als de schapenhoeder, waarmee de burgemeester van de stad in een juridische strijd is verwikkeld, de uitwerpselen opruimt, is een pamper niet nodig. Dat meldden Italiaanse media.
Burgemeester Lello di Bari legde een regel op die de herder verplichtte om de uitwerpselen van zijn schapen te verwijderen van de openbare weg. De hoeder kon zich daarin niet vinden en stapte de rechter - die hem vervolgens ongelijk gaf.
De uitwerpselen zouden onder meer de volksgezondheid en verkeersveiligheid schaden en moeten geweerd worden, oordeelde het gerecht.
De rechter wees er ten slotte nog op dat de velden waar de schapenhoeder zijn dieren laat grazen, ook bereikbaar zijn zonder de openbare weg te betreden. (Redactie)
Een Amerikaanse lijkschouwer is aangehouden omdat ze een deel van een ruggengraat van een lijk achterhield. De arts, die het lijk afgelopen dinsdag onderzocht, had naar eigen zeggen de botten nodig om een van haar honden te trainen voor het opsporen van lijken.
Traci England (44) uit Wisconsin is gisteren vrijgelaten na betaling van een borgsom van $5000 Amerikaanse dollar. Ze zal worden aangeklaagd wegens misdraging in functie en wegens diefstal.
De lijkschouwer is ook tijdelijk geschorst en mag niet langer menselijke resten in haar bezit hebben. (Reuters/redactie)
Een wandelaar in het Duitse Wuppertal vond gisteren een poesje in een vuilnisbak, een beetje verstopt in een plastic zak.
Volgens de wandelaar jankte de kat een beetje, maar had ze geen uiterlijke verwondingen.
De Duitse krant Bild meldt vandaag dat twee agenten inmiddels waren gewaarschuwd die de kat mee wilden nemen naar het bureau, maar bij nader inzien bedachten zij zich. Het leek hen namelijk beter het poesje dood te schieten. De agenten verklaarden later dat ze het beestje nog meer pijn wilden besparen.
'We zullen controleren of de agenten voor deze actie aan de wettelijke voorwaarden hebben voldaan'', verklaart een politiewoordvoerder. 'Zij worden mogelijk disciplinair gestraft.' (Redactie)
In een stal in Stramproy (Limburg) zijn vandaag achttien varkens om het leven gekomen, nadat ze door een rooster waren gezakt en in de gierkelder terecht waren gekomen. Dat maakte de brandweer bekend.
De boer trof de dieren vanochtend aan in de kelder bij het controleren van de stal. De brandweer pompt de gierkelder van de boerderij aan de Lochtstraat leeg om de dode beesten eruit te kunnen halen. (ANP/Redactie)
Een Australisch gezin uit Darwin kreeg gisteren te maken met een wel heel ongenode gast. Toen ze 's ochtends beneden kwamen omdat de hond hard aan het blaffen was, ontdekten ze in hun woonkamer een krokodil van 1,7 meter.
Het was een 'surreëel moment' aldus bewoonster Jo Dodd. Volgens de autoriteiten is de jonge krokodil mogelijk door een grotere soortgenoot uit de nabijgelegen rivier verjaagd. (AP/Redactie)

Auch Tiere können weinen - das weiß der Ex-Schlachter Hubert Liebertz aus Rösrath aus seinem Job.
Das Leid der Tiere hat er nicht ausgehalten.
Die Tiere wissen, was ihnen bevorsteht, erklärt Hubert. Sie leiden, haben Schmerzen und Angst. Als ein Kalb vor ihm stand und eine Träne aus dem Auge lief, hat der Rösrather spontan die Brocken hingeworfen - in derselben Minute noch. Dem Chef die Kündigung zugerufen und ist nach Hause gegangen.
Uit Australië komt het onwaarschijnlijke verhaal van kat Jessie die zo'n 3.000 kilometer dwars door het land zou hebben gewandeld.
Eigenaresse Sheree Gale was met de kat vanuit het zuidelijke Adelaide verhuisd naar een boerderij in de buurt van Darwin in het noorden van Australië. Op een dag verdween Jessie om 15 maanden later - in mei van dit jaar - op te duiken in haar oude buurt, melden Australische media.
Foto's Een ander gezin was naar de vroegere woning verhuisd en stuurde foto's van de gevonden kat naar Gale. 'Het was absoluut Jessie', zegt Gale tegenover televisiezender ABC. 'Moeder natuur hielp haar een handje: het was regentijd. Daarna heerste er een muizen- en sprinkhanenplaag. Dus had ze de hele weg voldoende eten en drinken', luidt de verklaring.
Broer Kat Jessie is nu herenigd met haar broer. Die had een jaar geleden het vliegtuig naar het nieuwe adres gemist omdat hij op de dag van de verhuizing was weggelopen. (Redactie)
