Vierjarige verjaagt gewapende overvaller met plastic zwaard

Stevie Long kwam verkleed als Power Ranger de misdaad bestrijden.
Stevie Long, een vierjarig jongetje uit North-Carolina, is de held van de familie. Tijdens een gewapende overval bij hem thuis schoot hij in Power Ranger-kostuum zijn moeder en één jaar oudere zus ter hulp en verjoeg hij de dief.

Terwijl de dader zijn gezinsleden onder schot hield, glipte de jonge Stevie de kamer uit. Minuten later stond de jongen er terug, klaar om als Mighty Morphin Power Ranger de strijd aan te gaan. "Laat mijn familie gerust", schreeuwde hij met plastic zwaard in de hand. De daaropvolgende strijdkreten volstonden om de overvaller en zijn medeplichtige, die buiten stond te wachten, met geringe buit op de vlucht te doen slaan.

Daarmee heeft de dappere jongen erger voorkomen, want de boeven wilden Stevies moeder meenemen naar de dichtstbijzijnde bankautomaat. Zijn tante viel haast flauw toen ze het verhaal te horen kreeg. "Er scheelt duidelijk iets met zijn vermogen om fantasie en realiteit van elkaar te onderscheiden", luidde haar reactie.
