Visser vangt zichzelf

 
Het 'medisch wonder' Peter Inskip.
De 42-jarige Peter Inskip uit het Uxbridge (West-Londen) heeft een pijnlijke viservaring achter de rug. Toen Inskip zijn met een vijf centimeter lang ankerlood verzwaarde hengel uit wou werpen, bleeft het in de bosjes achter hem steken. In plaats van de hengel rustig uit het struikgewas los te maken, rukte Inskip het achteloos los. Resultaat: het zware lood kwam als een raket los en boorde zich met grote vaart in zijn bovenlichaam.

Ondanks deze verwonding kon Inskip, die in een nabijgelegen meer op karper aan het vissen was, nog naar een huis strompelen om hulp te vragen. Inskip voelde weliswaar nauwelijks enige pijn en op de plek waar het ankerlood zijn lichaam binnendrong, was nauwelijks bloed te zien. In het ziekenhuis spreken ze van een wonder dat de man het overleefd heeft: om het lood uit zijn lichaam te halen hebben ze niet alleen zijn borst moeten opensnijden, maar was het ook nodig het borstbeen te breken.
