Tijgers en orang-oetans worden dikke maatjes in Indonesische zoo

Tijgers hebben opvang gevonden bij orang oetans maar de pret zal van korte duur zijn.
Een bijzondere vriendschap. In een dierentuin in Indonesië zijn de twee Sumatraanse tijgerwelpen Dema en Manis van een maand oud onafscheidelijk met Nia en Irma, twee vijf maanden oude baby-orang-oetans.

Verstoten
Omdat de vier vlak na de geboorte door hun moeders werden verstoten, werden ze samen in een ruimte gezet om elkaar wat gezelschap te houden. Dat bleek zo goed te klikken, dat ze nu met elkaar stoeien, elkaar plagen, en tegen elkaar aankruipen wanneer ze samen een dutje doen. Volgens een verzorgster is er tijdens de vriendschap, die nu al een maand duurt, nog van geen enkel geweld sprake geweest. In het Indonesische regenwoud, de natuurlijke habitat van de dieren, zou deze situatie ondenkbaar zijn.

Korte duur
Helaas zijn de aandoenlijke taferelen maar van korte duur. Voor hun natuurlijke instincten goed en wel ontwikkeld zijn zullen de dieren van elkaar gescheiden worden. Tijgers beginnen met drie maanden namelijk vlees te eten. Zowel de Sumatraanse tijger als de orang-oetan is een bedreigde diersoort. (novum)
