Koppel wil trouwen op begraafplaats

Oak Hill Cemetery.
Een koppel uit Evansville in de Amerikaanse staat Indiana wil hun huwelijksceremonie op de gemeentelijke begraafplaats houden. Als tiener ging Jamie Sue Smithhart (22) steeds naar de begraafplaats Oak Hill Cemetery wanneer ze even alleen wou zijn.


Haar verloofde William Zentmeyer (23) leerde Jamie kennen op de middelbare school, maar ze zijn pas sinds begin dit jaar een koppel. Volgens een voormalige leerkracht waren ze altijd "al een beetje anders".

De aanvraag werd vrijdag besproken in de gemeenteraad van Evansville. De gemeenteraadsleden lieten niet veel weerstand horen tegenover het idee. Toch zal het nog een week duren voor de raadsleden al dan niet het licht op groen zetten voor de huwelijksceremonie.
