Datingbureau voor papegaaien

Hoe gekker het idee, hoe succesvoller het resultaat. Dat axioma geldt nu ook voor Rita Ohnhauser, een Duitse ornithologe die van start gegaan is met een datingbureau voor papegaaien. De vrouw heeft dankzij haar origineel concept al 1300 eenzame dierenharten bij elkaar gebracht. Leuke bonus: papegaaien gaan nooit uit elkaar, dus eeuwige liefde is verzekerd.

"In het wild zoeken papegaaien een levenspartner om vervolgens elke minuut met hem/haar door te brengen. Als huisdier vergaan ze echter van eenzaamheid en raken ze heel depressief", vertelt Ohnhauser.

'Liefde op het eerste zicht'
Eigenaars van papegaaien brengen hun gevederd exemplaar nu vanuit heel Duitsland naar het (tijdelijke) opvangcentrum van Ohnhauser. Momenteel wagen 150 dieren hun kans bij het andere geslacht.

"Vogels kennen net zo goed het begrip 'liefde op het eerste zicht' als mensen", aldus Ohnhauser. "Maar er zijn er ook die een heel weloverwogen keuze maken die soms drie maand kan duren."
