Zouden jullie zo oud willen worden ? De meeste onder ons zijn bang om te sterven en deze mevrouw is bang dat zij niet zal sterven, de mens zit toch raar in mekaar hoor....

Poolse op haar 113de verjaardag: "Bang dat ik niet zal sterven"

Benedykta Mackiello, de oudste burger van Polen, heeft maandag haar 113de verjaardag gevierd. De vrouw heeft echter één grote zorg: ze vreest dat ze niet zal sterven. "Ik ben bang dat ik niet zal sterven", zei ze aan het Poolse nieuwsagentschap PAP. "Iedereen is gestorven en ik bleef achter als een wees", aldus Benedykta.

In het rusthuis waar de vrouw verblijft, nam ze gelukwensen en cadeautjes in ontvangst. Ze genoot van een glas zelfgemaakte zoete wijn en een stuk verjaardagscake. De vrouw werd geboren in 1893 in Torow Wielki in Litouwen. Benedykta Mackiello vertelde dat ze haar leven lang hard gewerkt heeft en tachtig jaar gelukkig getrouwd was. (belga)
