De leukste Britse contactadvertenties verzameld

De redactie van het Britse tijdschrift Londen Review of Books heeft de leukste contactadvertenties van haar lezers in een boek verzameld. Het boek kreeg de titel 'They Call Me Naughty Lola' (Ze noemen me Ondeugende Lola') mee. Advertenties als "Vrouw (32) wil genieten van de betere dingen in het leven en zoekt stinkende rijkerd (80-100)" haalden de selectie.

Of de deze van een eerlijke Britse vijftiger: "Kleine kale lelijke man van 53 zoekt bijziende vrouw met geweldig libido". Deze kerstadvertentie mocht ook niet ontbreken: "Onaangename dronken oom (62) voor kerstdagen te huur. Kan het Britse volkslied in drie octaven boeren. Jeukt zich overal. Is nooit tevreden, ook al doe je je uiterste best. Vraagt voortdurend: 'Is het eten al klaar?' en 'Waarom nog niet?'. December wordt weer schitterend als u schrijft naar postbus 5610."

London Review of Books publiceert sinds 1998 contactadvertenties. Volgens redacteur David Rose zijn veel contactadvertenties eerder grappig bedoeld. Toch kreeg de redactie al klachtenbrieven van teleurgestelde lezers binnen. Die eisten hun 80 pence (ongeveer 1 euro 20 cent) terug, omdat niemand op hun advertenties had gereageerd.
