I know movie and TV plays about Cleopatra take a lot of liberties with history as recorded by historians (the snake bite was on her arm, NOT her breast!) ... but I have read that Cleo's dearest ladies-in-waiting, Charmian and Iras, were indeed one European (white) and one African (black). / buddmar
