We are starting to see more cyclists on the road. Because we travel more distance we usually only meet walkers once but now we are seeing the same cyclists several times. Many are doing the walking path with the mountain bike but this is a little dangerous both for the cyclist and the walkers as the path is often very steep, slippery and small.
In the first village we came upon there was a stone column on which convicted criminals were bound and met their end in the 15th century. At the same village we met a young French Canadian girl who was also cycling the camino. You can see the difference between young women and grandmothers fashion trends. What you cannot see or hear is the comments from eleven 60 year old male walkers who were classmates in highschool. By the way the girl is wearing teeki clothing from California. It is made from recycled plastic bottles.
A little later we cycle past the multiple level locks of the Castilie Canal. In Fromista we came to one of the most beautiful Roman church's in Spain. A wonderful statue of Mary is inside.
On the way we also needed to get a new tube of baby cream for saddle pain. We went into the first Drug store we came accross. In one foot step we were returned to the time of our youth. Even the sent inside was the same as we remembered from 50 years ago.
We were also a little surprised from the amount of trash, especially plastic bottles along the road in Spain and when more so in France.
