We took the route around and not through Leon. Again we came upon villages who exist or existed because of the wine production. Some wine cellers = caves are still being used but others have been converted to restaurants. Several highways build in the name of progress have divided the area and its people.
In Puente y Hospital de Orbigo there is a impressive bridge build originally by the romans but it has been systematically restored.
We are also staying in a real Albergue with rooms for 2, 4 and up to 16 people in bunk beds. There is a kitchen and washing machines. Everybody is using this at the same time. It was full at 3pm and you cannot reserve beforehand. People of all ages stay there and it is a real pelgrims atmosphere.
Some people ask what we eat. Along the Camino most restaurants have a pilgrims menu. It is three courses with wine and or water included. The average price is 10 euro and in the worst case 10.5 euro. There are usually 4 choices per course. Course 1: soup, salad with tuna, mellon or asparages with meo course 2: Pork chops, steak, fish with frit or spagetti. Course 3: ice cream, pudding, yogurt or fruit. It is close to home cooking.
