Yesterday evening we visited the pre Roman chapel and the 1000 year old cypris tree. The tree had been hit by lighting but is still alive. We were surprised by the numbers of old trees still standing along the roads. We saw many chestnut trees. In the mountains they did not have too much wheat so they made flower from chestnuts. There was also a magnificent monastery in this small village. unfortunately the monks moonshine production lead to a major fire in the early 50s.
We left the village for a 60 km ride which should have been without problem. Nevertheless it turned out that we had more climbing meters than yesterday with three hills of between 5 and 7 km and numerous smaller bumps in the road. We were happy to be at the finish.
We past Portomarin. This town had been completely rebuild after the old town disappeared under a man made lake formed when a dam was build and put into use in 1960.
Hopefully we will arrive in Santiago on Sunday and we have our plane tickets booked for Tuesday thanks to Marie. Louis had also thought of us with travel info home.
