Dit is ons nieuw hondje Kira, een kruising van een waterhond en een Podenko. Ze is sinds 7 februari 2024 bij ons en druk bezig ons hart te veroveren. Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.
This is our new dog Kira, a cross between a water dog and a Podenko. She has been with us since February 7, 2024 and is busy winning our hearts. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who quickly adapted to us within a week. She is very quick and curious, a very different dog than Noleke.

De Amerikaanse schrijver Ben Mezrich gaf onlangs een TED-lezing over UFO’s en andere onverklaarbare fenomenen, meldt de Boston Globe.
Hij had het onder meer over de vliegende schotel die in 1947 op een ranch bij Roswell in New Mexico neerkwam. Het leger zei later dat het een weerballon was, maar Mezrich is sceptisch.
“Ik ben van mening dat wat er is neergestort bij Roswell hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet van hier was,” zei hij.
Heel vreemd
Mezrich sprak over een hulpsheriff uit Colorado die onderzoek heeft gedaan naar UFO-waarnemingen en bizarre gevallen van veeverminking.
“Bij die koeien waren alle organen weggehaald,” zei Mezrich. “Het is heel vreemd allemaal.”
Hij merkte ook op dat Hillary Clinton had beloofd om zoveel mogelijk UFO-stukken vrij te geven als ze president zou worden. “Dat gaat nu helaas niet gebeuren,” aldus Mezrich.
Ondergrondse legerbases
“Deze stukken bestaan echt,” zei hij. “Maar om de één of andere reden wil de overheid ons niet vertellen wat er bij Roswell is gebeurd.”
Zijn reis bracht hem van Roswell en Area 51 naar het Pentagon, geheime ondergrondse legerbases en corporaties die onderzoeken dwarsbomen en proberen over te nemen.

Het licht van een nabijgelegen ster wordt op een onverklaarbare manier verduisterd, schrijft de Britse krant Independent.
Pas geleden werd ook al zo’n vreemde ster ontdekt. Men speculeerde toen dat de periodieke helderheidsdipjes werden veroorzaakt door een ‘buitenaardse megastructuur’.
Astronoom Jason Wright zei dat KIC 8462852, ook wel Tabby’s ster geheten, verduisterd zou kunnen worden door een ‘zwerm megastructuren’.
Onbegrijpelijk
“Ik kom hier maar niet uit,” zei hij. “Hoewel het zo interessant en zo gaaf is, is het tegelijkertijd volstrekt onbegrijpelijk.”
Als een ster zwakker wordt, betekent dat doorgaans dat er een planeet of ander hemellichaam omheen draait.
Rond de pas ontdekte ster, RIK-210 geheten, draaien echter geen grote ruimteobjecten.
Deeltjeswolk
In het geval van RIK-210 wordt niet gesproken over ‘buitenaardse megastructuren’.
Onderzoekers denken dat het vreemde gedrag van de ster wordt veroorzaakt door een deeltjeswolk die gevangen zit in het magnetisch veld van de ster.
De ster bevindt zich op een slordige 472 lichtjaar van de aarde.
Lastig
Aangezien het lastig is op zo’n grote afstand waarnemingen te doen, kan het onderzoeksteam nog niet met zekerheid zeggen of de helderheidsdipjes daadwerkelijk worden veroorzaakt door een wolk in de magnetosfeer.
Wel hebben de onderzoekers uitgesloten dat de ster onderdeel uitmaakt van een dubbelstersysteem. Rond de ster draaien ook geen planeten.
Het is nog steeds onduidelijk wat de oorzaak is van het vreemde gedrag van Tabby’s ster, die wordt onderzocht door SETI.
Onbekend object
Net als in het geval van RIK-210 wordt licht tegengehouden door een nog onbekend object rond de ster.
Het zou kunnen gaan om een Dysonbol, een megastructuur die rond een ster is geplaatst door buitenaardse wezens.
Het onderzoek over RIK-210 is gepubliceerd op preprintserver arXiv.

EmDrive: China claimt doorbraak in onderzoek naar ‘onmogelijke’ motor
Dit stukje technologie lijkt bijna te mooi om waar te zijn. De EmDrive is een motor die wordt aangedreven door elektromagnetische straling in een vacuüm.
Sinds 2010 doen zowel de Verenigde Staten als China uitgebreid onderzoek naar deze ogenschijnlijk onmogelijke motoren. China claimt nu een doorbraak te hebben bereikt.
Dr. Chen Yue van de Chinese academie voor ruimtetechnologie (CAST) liet weten dat China niet alleen een EmDrive succesvol heeft getest, maar dat er ook al wordt geëxperimenteerd met een prototype in de ruimte, aan boord van ruimtestation Tiangong-2.
Duizelingwekkende snelheden
Door de afwezigheid van zwaartekracht en wrijving in de ruimte, kan de EmDrive duizelingwekkende snelheden bereiken.
Een EmDrive kan kwetsbaar zijn voor bijvoorbeeld straling uit de ruimte en om die reden is het belangrijk dat de motor aan boord van een ruimteschip zoals de Tiangong-2 wordt getest.
EmDrives zijn uitermate geschikt voor ruimtereizen omdat er niet hoeft worden bijgetankt. Er is ook geen opslagtank nodig voor brandstof, wat veel gewicht en ruimte scheelt.
Buiten het zonnestelsel
In theorie kan de motor worden gebruikt voor bijvoorbeeld een bemande Marsmissie of ruimtesondes die naar een plek buiten het zonnestelsel gaan.
Als China in staat is om EmDrives te installeren in haar satellieten, zouden ze een stuk goedkoper worden en veel langer meegaan.
Voorbij de planetoïdegordel
De huidige EmDrive produceert een stuwkracht van 1,2 millinewton per kilowatt, terwijl de gemiddelde satelliet 0,1 tot 1 newton nodig heeft.
Met een werkende EmDrive kan China sondes met gemak tot ver voorbij de planetoïdegordel sturen.

Just a few days ago, this glowing UFO was seen over a mountain top in Slovakia. UFOs tend to be seen over volcanos, like those in Mexico, and mountains, like those in Colorado. I myself recorded a similar UFO here in Taiwan, just a week after it was also seen in China. It glows as bright as the moon. Its huge, and just suddenly appears, then after 15 minutes its just gone! Absolutely mind blowing to know...they are watching you as you are watching them. Date of sighting: 7-20-2013, but reported this week. Location of sighting: Huntington Beach, California, USA Source: MUFON #81084 Here is an interesting report that was just sent into MUFON today. A dark UFO disk was moving around above the eyewitnesses neighbourhood and the UFO was making a green trail behind it. Now this concerns me because it appears to be a UFO that is spraying something over the neighbourhood. This may be another alien experiment...something that will effect their health, probably mental health and either improve or worsen their lives. If this UFO was damaged which caused the smoke, it would have landed somewhere. Scott C. Waring Eyewitness states:
It was my birthday at my house. I was taking out the kitchen trash. It was approximately 11am, July 20th 2013. I walked out of the exterior garage mandoor on the W side of my house. I immediately heard a low rumble mixed with a hissing like noise above me to the west. I looked up to see what I first thought was a passenger plane on fire. there are many airports nearby and it was not unusual to see planes in the airspace this object was in. within a second or two, I was startled because i had realized this was no plane. it was a dull silver domed object with orange lights around its middle. I thought I could see a small spire like portrusion out of the top of the object. it was a typical domed ufo looking craft.
In fact, that was one of my first conscious thoughts... Wow. My first real UFO sighting and it couldn't be a more typical looking UFO! It was obvious to me that this craft was in trouble. I saw no flame or intense burning/glowing but could see some sort of fluctuating vapor trail being left. The vapor trail didn't seem to be coming from any particular vent or place on the craft. The vapor seemed to almost enshroud the craft and then slip off and fall behind. The rate of the vapor coming off seemed to vary slightly. It would leave a trail and dissipate withing a few seconds. The color was both disconcerning and facinatingly beautiful.
My first thoughts were that it was highly poisonous or radioactive. the rumbling hiss seemed to increase in intensity coinciding with the billowing emerald green shimmery misty vapor or smoke this craft was leaving in its wake. I felt the object was approximately a mile from me when I first observed it. It was directly above me and to the West when I first caught sight of the object, travelling in a South or SW trajectory. It's speed was that of a landing passenger plane. And it's size seeemed to be about as wide as a school bus is long. Maybe 35-40 feet wide at it's center. It was a particularly clear and sunny, beautiful morning day. I could see the object in very clear detail. I saw no markings, windows or anything on the domed surfaces both on top and below. I saw no markings on the central saturn-ring of the object. I saw what looked like a dull orange light in the short (maybe 2-3foot) spire atop the craft. It could have been the extream rush of adrenahlin but I became so overwhelmed with emotion upon seeing this object that I rememeber feeling very faint, and close to throwing up my breakfast. Fighting off the swirling thoughts (fear, excitment, shock, awe, worry, dread, mania, etc...) I remembered my cell phone camera. I remember almost ripping the pocket of my jeans trying to get my phone out. I brought the phone / camera up to my face level and shot three photos. the first was my finger in the way of the lens. the second and thrid shot are attached with this report. I believe my phone at the time was a Samsung S2... I may have had my S5 by then but I'd have to look that up. I can if it matters. the elapsed time between when i first noticed the object and when I managed to start taking photos was probably 10-15 seconds.
The object travelled in a straight line heading S - SW. This would have been from my right to left. It seemed to me to be flying directly above Beach Blvd/Hwy 39, which was the major street near me. It was flying towards the ocean which was approx 3 miles away to the South.

"One of the few individuals whose prominence is beyond question has, however, over the past few months, dared to open his mouth and challenge the status quo.
Gordon Cooper was one of America's original astronauts. He helped pioneer this country's space exploration efforts when, aboard a tiny space capsule known as Mercury [Faith] 7, Cooper orbited the Earth for 34 hours, proving that man could live outside our atmosphere for prolonged periods. His patriotism, bravery and respectability go without saying...
Cooper has recently made several public pronouncements concerning his strong belief in UFOs. While a guest on the Merv Griffin Show, Cooper shocked the viewing audiences by speaking for over five minutes on a topic that was only within the past few years often considered too bizarre for polite conversation.
But there were some things that Cooper wouldn't even discuss on the air in front of the curious multitudes. Luckily Lee Spiegel is a personal friend of Gordon Cooper. They have conferred on several occasions, and while in the company of the man who is bound and determined to crack the 'Cosmic Watergate' which he is convinced exists within the higher echelon of government, the former space traveler is more than happy to talk about his UFO experiences - and they are many.
In the early 1950s, Cooper was assigned to a jet fighter group in Germany. While stationed there, he remembers very vividly the week an entire formation of circular objects passed over the Air Base on almost a daily routine.
'We never could get close enough to pin them down, but they were round in shape and very metallic looking,' Cooper points out. UFOs were to continue to haunt him when the Air Force Colonel was transferred several years later to Edwards Air Force Base Flight Test Center in the California desert.
What happened one afternoon while he was on duty at this military base is evidence enough that the government definitely does keep a lot of secrets when it comes to UFOs!
The incident took place in the late 1950s, either 1957 or 1958 - as Cooper can best recall; and to this day, the photographic evidence of an actual UFO touching down upon the Earth is being kept under wraps.
During this period, Cooper was a Project Manager at Edwards Air Force Base, just three or four years before entering America's space program. After lunch this particular day, Cooper had assigned a team of photographers to an area of the vast dry lake beds near Edwards.
In a taped interview with UFOlogist Lee Spiegel, the former Astronaut disclosed that while the crew was out there, they spotted a strange-looking craft above the lake bed, and they began taking films of it.
Cooper says the object was very definitely 'hovering above the ground. And then it slowly came down and sat on the lake bed for a few minutes.' All during this time the motion picture cameras were filming away.
'There were varied estimates by the cameramen on what the actual size of the object was,' Cooper confesses, 'but they all agreed that it was at least the size of a vehicle that would carry normal-sized people in it.'
Col. Cooper was not fortunate enough to be outside at the time of this incredible encounter, but he did see the films as soon as they were rushed through the development process.
'It was a typical circular-shaped UFO,' he recollects. 'Not too many people saw it, because it took off at quite a sharp angle and just climbed straight on out of sight!'
Cooper admits he didn't take any kind of poll to determine who had seen the craft, 'because there were always strange things flying around in the air over Edwards.' This is a statement Lee Spiegel was able to verify through his own research efforts, having obtained closely guarded tapes of conversations between military pilots circling the base and their commanding officers in the flight tower, tracking the presence of unknown objects.
'People just didn't ask a lot of questions about things they saw and couldn't understand,' notes Cooper, who adds that it was a lot simpler to look the other way, shrug one's shoulders, and chalk up what had been seen to 'just another experimental aircraft that must have been developed at another area of the air base.'
But what about the photographic proof - the motion picture footage - that was taken? 'I think it was definitely a UFO,' Cooper states, as he makes no bones about it. 'However, where it (the object) came from and who was in it is hard to determine, because it didn't stay around long enough to discuss the matter - there wasn't even time to send out a welcoming committee!'
After he reviewed the film at least a dozen times, the footage was quickly forwarded to Washington. Cooper no doubt expected to get a reply in a few weeks' time as to what his men had seen and photographed, but there was no word, and the movie *vanished* - never to surface again....
On coast-to-coast television, Cooper recently made a blockbuster statement that had the telephone lines tied up the next day, as viewers telephoned the stations which carried the syndicated Merv Griffin Show, anxious to find out if their ears had been playing tricks on them the night before.
Toward the end of the talk-show host's interview with the former Astronaut, Merv broke into a secretive tone of voice right on the air, and aimed a hundred-thousand-dollar question at his guest: 'There is a story going around, Gordon, that a spaceship did land in middle America and there were occupants, and members of our government were able to keep one of the occupants alive for a period of time. They've seen the metal of the aircraft and they know what the people look like - is that a credible story?'
For all intents and purposes Cooper should have laughed for assuredly such a speculative story belongs in the category of science fiction or space fantasy. But Gordon Cooper kept a straight face when he replied: 'I think it's fairly credible. I would like to see the time when all qualified people could really work together to properly investigate these stories and either refute or prove them.'
The bombshell had been dropped. Cooper went on to say that from the various reports of UFO contacts and abductions he had been privy to, he was convinced that the occupants of this crashed UFO were 'probably not that different from what we are,' - that they are almost totally humanoid (i.e., have two arms, two legs, a torso and readily identifiable facial features) in appearance.
Taken aback by what Cooper had said over the national airwaves, Lee Spiegel telephoned Cooper's office the following morning and managed to get past his private secretary, though others in the media were getting the cold shoulder.
'Cooper admitted to me that he could have revealed more on the air, but he decided not to play his entire hand because he felt certain that some 'official eyebrows were going to get raised'.'"

A California witness at Hollywood reported watching a “large UFO” moving over the Hollywood Bowl-101 Freeway area, according to testimony in Case 80813 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The sighting took place about 2:17 a.m. on December 4, 2016.
“I was in downtown old Hollywood area near 101 Freeway and Franklin junction,” the witness stated.“I pulled my car into the 101 Cafe on Franklin Blvd.into the back parking lot which has a 30-degree and up view of a clear night sky with a west, north, and east. As I parked my car I quickly sighted a large blue-white object in the northwest sky about 35 degrees up from horizon through my wind shield.”
The witness first saw a large, blue-white object in the skynear 101 Freeway and Franklin junction.

The witness quickly moved into position to investigate.
“My iPhone read 2:17 a.m. Instantly I jumped out to investigate and questioned to my partner what was in the sky. At the same time, as I spoke this question, a female witness at her car behind us joined in with us to question the same object as she just had spotted it as well. Northwest-west toward the Hollywood Bowl in the Hollywood Hills – Mullholand Drive region an object was gracefully flying over those hills which was a clear mile distance from us.”
The witness described the object.
“The object was flat. Its underbelly was a soft, radiant, blue-white light in a honey-combed patterned shape. Very faint aura around the object. The object’s speed resembled the grace of a blimp, very directional and straight, yet very gradual and slow in shift of direction overall through the experience. The object was heading east towards us and its speed was cruising, causal, slow, yet the light detail resembled a superstructure in a blue-white, honey-combed pattern that was entirely luminous. NO landing lights, no blinking lights, no conventional aircraft resemblance. This was a solid, luminous shape that did not pulsate or change intensity in lumination or brightness. It moved gracefully without abrupt turns. Just smooth, clearly indicating behavior of a large craft, like an aircraft carrier or blimp would, and like these examples, one realized it gained distance in a short amount of time.”
The group tried to decide exactly what the object was.
“We were now three witnesses trying to identify the craft. We quickly agreed the craft was not anything we were ever familiar with, as we all have much flying experience. I am a drone owner as well, and this was not the behavior of a drone with zigzag action or its type of lights. About a minute of observation, we agreed the craft with this behavior easily was in the measurement of 100 feet across at least as it dwarfed the structures below on the hills at an 1500-2000 feet elevation above the hills.”
There was a faint aura around the object and its speed resembled the grace of a blimp.

The craft slowly turned.
“Slowly and gradually the craft turned easily northeast and gradually gaining altitude as it flew over the 101 FYW Cahuenga Pass. About after another minute it was clear the craft was gracefully gaining extreme altitude, and due to elevation, its craft detail was getting smaller as it finally settled over the Hollywood sign mountain. The craft peaked about 5,000feet above the mountain and paused its northeastdirection. It hovered still perfectly without a bump for about another minute. Through this time again the craft was gaining more altitude.”
The witnesses watched the object climb.
“About another 30 seconds of this slow climb, the craft slowly flew southward to our direction. The honey-combed lit pattern was so tiny from its height, yet still identifiable. Its movement and behavior resembled that of high space satellite. The craft eventually was now spotted by two more witnesses as they were entering the cafe, as we were all in agreement of tracking the craft. The slow path and ascension ended directly above us about 7000-8000feet as it hovered in place for another five minutes. As the craft paused, to our view it parked itself near two stars creating an even triangle constellation of sorts. These two stars’ location are the first pair northeast of the Orion left shoulder.”
The craft then gained altitude again.
“After this pause the craft gained an altitude to where it now resembled that of a tiny satellite, or the size of the neighboring stars, and like a slow satellite, it traveled directly west over West Hollywood as its slow path was just north of the Orion constellation. The object was exactly star size as it faded westward gaining altitude, yet still identifiable well past west of Hollywood Blvd and Fairfax.”
The witness tried to report the incident.
“The entire event was about 27 minutes as it was slow and gradual as stated before. I then cell phoned the West Hollywood Sheriff to report the sighting and the officer stated there were no reports of the event. I then contacted the next major airport at Burbank which was about 12 miles away. By this hour, the airport has stopped its regular commercial airline service at 10 p.m. I got through to Burbank tower security who accepted my story and he then transferred me to the actual tower. A stand-by night watch tech took my call. I asked if anyone was watching radar in the south direction of 2:17a.m. He stated he wasn’t watching radar at that time. I described my sighting to him; he sounded interested, but after he claimed he still never had evidence on radar, nor looked, therefore he stated he had to go and hung up on me.”
The witness pulled into a local diner parking lot for a closer look.

The witness compared the object to known objects.
“This craft had no similarity to the usual police helicopters or commercial aircraft that we see by the dozens daily in the area with our three major commercial airports. We do have Edwards AFB but it’s a two-hour drive north. But this was no Stealth plane outline nor was it the dark large Air Force X-Balloon triangle ship. We haven’t had lighted blimps in years since Goodyear stopped that action, nor could a blimp fly that height out of sight or hover in place. It was not a large manned drone, as it would have been way too small in dimension; also the guide lights on a drone were not the same. Nor could a drone have scaled that altitude for that duration and without one single abrupt zigzag kind of movement. Our sighting was a big luminous craft, with smooth acceleration, ending in high altitude without a flinch. Lots of citizens in LA; please respond if there are any other eyewitnesses.”

The Earth, our home planet, is due for an “extinction-level” event like a comet or asteroid strike, but apparently humans are vastly unprepared at this point of time to deal with the situation.
As per reports, an award-winning NASA scientist has warned that human race at this moment remains ill-prepared for any such threat from outer space – especially the kind that has the potentical to wipe out humanity just as how it did to dinosaurs more than 65 million years ago.
Dr Joseph Nuth, of the NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, told attendees during Monday’s annual American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco that there’s not a hell of a lot we can do about it at the moment,” The Guardian reported.
“But on the other hand, they are the extinction-level events, things like dinosaur killers, they’re 50 to 60 million years apart, essentially. You could say, of course, we’re due, but it’s a random course at that point,” Nuth added.
Nuth noted that, while these kinds of cataclysmic collisions are rare in Earth’s history, they aren’t unrivalled.
There had been two near misses of an asteroid hitting a planet in the solar system – when a comet whirred into Jupiter in 1996 and the other in 2014 which passed perilously close to Mars. During this time, mankind did not have enough time and the appropriate technology to potentially avert it.
Urging policymakers to start preparing for such a possible cataclysmic strike, Nuth suggested that NASA needs to build at least two spacecraft – an interceptor rocket and an observer spacecraft – to mitigate such a threat.

According to information from Russia knows about extraterrestrial civilizations over several decades, so for many it is not surprising that such rumors are circulating for many years. On the outside of the ship were noticeable damage. Rehabilitation team, having dressed in protective suits, arrived at the site. Was measured smaller amounts of radiation and some members of the team were contaminated. At the scene came the helicopter and UFO were transported to the air base of Mozdok (North Ossetia-Alania). All three creatures were about 90 to 120 centimeters tall, with gray-tight suit. Beneath it were the skin blue-green color with a reptilian texture. They had hair, big black eyes were covered with a protective cap and finger-like flotation blánám were finished long, slender arms. Alien bodies were stored in glass containers and the UFO was transported to the spaceport Kapustin Yar (Volgograd). This information was first announced three Russian investigators – it howled: Anton Anfalov, Lenur Azizov and Alexander Mosolov, but who did not have to support these claims, no documents.
Remember when NASA told us there’sliquid water on the surface of Mars? Well, that little factoid might be murkier than we thought. Turns out, a set of new lab experiments seeking to recreate the supporting evidence ended up with an unexpected outcome.
Here’s the deal: the original data that suggested there was water on Mars was based off something called recurring slope lineae — dark streaks that appear and vanish seasonally on the walls of various coasters and canyons on the surface of the planet. Follow-up data collected by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter indicated that the RSL sites possessed hydrated salts, which could essentially be explained only by some sort of liquid flow of water originating from some place.
And of course, the presence of water on another planet is phenomenal because it suggests another world might be capable of supporting life, and that future astronauts may be able to use that water as a resource for a extraterrestrial colony.
Now, the origin of that liquid water was unknown — and it’s still unknown today. Why are scientists so sure the source has to be ground based? Michael Meyer, the lead scientist for NASA’s Mars Exploration Program, explained to Inverse during an interview for a previous story this year that the atmosphere of Mars is extremely dry. “If you completely froze out the atmosphere of mars, you would have a 10 micron layer of ice around the planet,” he explains. “That’s less than the width of a sheet of paper! The likelihood these RSL sites were getting their thirst quenched by atmospheric water was low.
But a team of researchers decided to verify whether the salts in the RSL sites really had to be hydrated through surface flow, or whether atmospheric water could have been enough. A pair of University of Colorado, Boulder scientists exposed salts to atmospheric conditions similar to Mars, and found that some of them actually became hydrated solely through atmospheric means.
Those results, presented last week at the American Geophysical Unions annual fall meeting in San Francisco, don’t outright nix the idea that there’s a source of liquid water somewhere on Mars. But they do raise some concerns that will need to be addressed and explored through future experiments.
What would help the most, actually, is to acquire an actual sample of the hydrated salts on Mars and analyze them directly. The problem is that the RSL sites are located in pretty harsh terrain — sending humans in would be a dangerous endeavor, and we don’t yet have the kind of robotic technology that could feasibly go in on its own.
Regardless, the results underscore the fact that while water on Mars is an exciting prospect, we should not get carried away until we have tangible proof of what we’re seeing.
A professor ofartificial intelligence has called on the United Nations to impose a global ban on lethal autonomous weapons, fearing the “terrible and terrifying prospect” of robots killing civilians. Toby Walsh, from the University of New South Wales in Australia, wants attendees at Friday’s UN disarmament conference in Geneva to commit to formal discussions over a ban.
“The reason I have been motivated to do this is simple,” Walsh said in a story published Thursday. “If we don’t get a ban in place, there will be an arms race. And the end point of this race will look much like the dystopian future painted by Hollywood movies like The Terminator.”
Walsh points to existing bans on chemical and biological weapons as a model. Their effectiveness is questionable, but they have greatly reduced the likelihood of coming across them in combat. He’s a strong believer in a ban: Walsh was one of the signatories to an open letter in 2015 calling for a ban, and on Thursday he spoke at the UN for a third time to persuade countries to consider the idea.
“All technology can be used for good or bad,” Walsh said in his article. “We need to make a conscious and effective decision soon to take the world down a good path.”

It’s not just on the battlefield that people are concerned about killer machines. Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, warned in September that private companies using autonomous security robots could lead to a mass increase in global inequality. As wealth accumulates with those in charge of autonomous robots, these machines will be used to crush any revolutionary uprisings occurring in the masses.
Beyond a global ban, A.I. ethicists are turning to guidelines to help encourage “best practices.” A draft IEEE report published this week recommends that weapons without any meaningful human control should be considered unethical. But any rules around A.I. will have to come down to the designers, as hard coding rules into machines is considered a less practical approach. A UN ban, if implemented, would likely mean arms corporations avoiding autonomous weapon designs altogether.

In the tangled and dense jungles of the Amazon, there are numerous mysteries that could probably help us understand how ancient civilizations live in the distant past. We know so little about our planet, and researchers are unaware of the possible archaeological discoveries that remain hidden in the Amazon. As technology moves forward and tools as Google Earth become more popular, many people try their luck hoping to make a discovery that no one else has made in the past. Google Earth has become the one of the boldest tools numerous archaeologists are using, consistently delivering huge results that help researchers in many ways.
We are talking about the pyramids of paratoari, usually referred to as “the dots”, seen in one of the satellite images from NASA.
Even thought that several researchers believe that the Pyramids of Paratoari are truncated ridge spurs, which can take the form of natural pyramids, there are many other scientists who firmly believe that these structures were built in the distant past by a civilization that has never before been seen.
Excursions to the region found plenty of evidence of Incan inhabitance in the area, such as petroglyphs, paved roads, and platforms.
The mysterious pyramidal structures were first identified via NASA satellite photograph number C-S11-32W071-03, released in 1976. The images caused numerous researchers to venture to the Manu area of dense tropical rainforest in southeast Peru in hopes to find out whether these structures were actually built by an ancient civilization, lost in time.
While renewed archaeologists have refused to take into consideration the pyramids and their artificial origin, other researchers suggest that the symmetrical space between them and uniform shape of the structures points to the fact that these are not natural sandstone formations as some have suggested.
The same debate can be seen in the “recently” discovered Pyramids in Bosnia. While numerous researchers suggest that the structures in Visoko are mere natural formations, other researchers point to the fact that the structures in Bosnia are of artificial origin, just like the pyramids of Paratoari.
We have to remember that even today, in the twenty-first century, there are places on Earth, yet unexplored, and the Amazon Jungle is one of the most unexplored regions of them all.
The Pyramids of Paratoari are symmetrically arranged structures that could not be natural formations, but the product of human hands.
Looking at things from a historical point of view, we know that the area of Madre de Dios has been defined by many researchers in the past as the place where the Incas hid after the advance of the Spanish conquistadores towards Cusco in 1533. Wouldn’t it be logical that the Inca created monuments and structures in that region? It certainly is possible if you keep an open mind and understand that there are many hidden secrets buried beneath sands, jungles and oceans around the world.
The mystery of the Pyramids of Paratoari certainly continues and maybe one day, we will know for sure what these mysterious structures truly are.
Yesterday, Express.co.uk reported on the increasing number of reports of triangle-shaped UFOs being made to investigators.
Now details have emerged of a strange sighting said to involve four triangle UFOs, followed by several "star-like objects".
The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) is investigating the case.
The unnamed witness from Fairless Hills, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in the US said the triangle-shaped UFOs moved silently and were just 20 feet over neighbouring homes.
Oddly, they said they were followed by "20 to 30 star-like objects".
In a report to US-based MUFON, which holds a global database of UFO sightings, the witness said: “At approximately 8.20pm we turned and began walking up a street with a slight incline, and my youngest child stopped to catch a Pokémon and had lagged behind.
"I noticed he was no longer with us and I turned around to call to him to catch up, and right behind him were two huge, black, triangular craft, larger than the houses they were above, flying slowly and approximately 20 feet above the one story houses across the street, and approximately 20 feet away.
“The second craft was flying at the same height as the first craft, immediately behind it.

"The two craft were black with three unwavering bright white lights at the three corners of the triangles, with a solid bright primary, red light in the centre of the craft.
"The craft were completely silent; they were almost on top of us and we never would have known they were there if I did not happen to look behind us.
"The two craft came from a western direction and were heading east.”
The eyewitness said they changed direction.
They said: "We observed the craft silently shift direction southeast before disappearing behind trees.
"When I looked behind again to where we had sighted the craft, two more triangular craft were flying in the exact same direction in the exact location where the first two craft were sighted, and they turned and headed southeast in exactly the same spot that the other two craft had turned.
There were two huge, black, triangular craft, larger than the houses they were above, flying slowly and approximately 20 feet above the one story houses.

“We turned east and onto my road, when we looked up into the sky and witnessed a patch of sky with between 20 and 30 balls of light, exact number unable to be determined, that looked like stars, except that they were moving.
"Some of the lights were moving very slowly, almost imperceptibly, but other craft were moving so quick that they would leave a light trail behind them, as they shifted position.
"The lights were different colours, from red to bluish-white to orange to bright white.
As every citizen of Roswell knows, the city is at the center of one of the greatest mysteries of all time. In 1947, something crashed in the New Mexico desert and was taken to Roswell Army [auth] Air Field — now the Roswell International Air Center.
Believers say it was a crashed alien spacecraft, while skeptics argue that it was simply the wreckage of a weather balloon. As we approach the 70th anniversary of this much-debated incident, the Roswell Daily Record is launching a campaign to resolve the mystery for once and for all. To do so, we need your help. While people argue to this day about what happened at Roswell in the summer of 1947, nobody disputes that something crashed. That’s because far from denying this, the military authorities actually helped get the story out — at least at first.

They signed off on text that read, in part, “The many rumors surrounding the flying disk became a reality yesterday when the intelligence office of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disk.” The Roswell Daily Record wrote this up as the lead story, under the headline “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region.” That July 8, 1947 front-page headline is now as much a part of pop culture as the Roswell incident itself.
However, just a day later, the military changed its story and said that the “flying disk” had been identified as debris from a crashed weather balloon and the equipment it had been carrying. Whatever the truth, something crashed.
Seventy years on, is there any hope of solving the mystery? I think there is. I used to investigate UFOs for the British government, which was just one of a number of fascinating postings I had in a 21-year career at the UK’s Ministry of Defense. In my experience, the key to solving a mystery like this lies in the community in which these events unfolded.

That’s why I’ve teamed up with the Roswell Daily Record to launch an appeal. Because nobody denies there was a crash, we know that there was wreckage. And because no clean-up operation can ever be perfect, and because people like souvenirs, we believe there could still be pieces of this wreckage somewhere out there in the local community.
Some of the military personnel involved in the Roswell incident lived off-base in the local community. Some put down roots in Roswell. These people — or perhaps their children or grandchildren — might have boxes up in their attics, filled with memorabilia.
Alternatively, is there a trinket box on the mantelpiece, a jewelry box hidden away somewhere, or a desk drawer that hasn’t been cleared out in years? Our request is that readers root around and see what they can turn up. Look in particular for strange pieces of metal, but keep an eye out for anything else that might be connected with the events of 1947, such as documents, photographs or diaries. While our main focus of interest is the Roswell crash, we’d be fascinated in anything else that relates to the military base or the city itself, as it was in 1947.
Why are we launching this appeal now? Many of the people involved in the Roswell incident have passed away. The whole event is passing from living memory into history. The forthcoming 70th anniversary is likely to attract considerable media attention and public interest. Thus, it may represent our final chance to smoke out memories and memorabilia from those who were there — a last opportunity to solve the mystery.

While scientists puzzle over important Mars questions -- Is there evidence of past life there? Liquid water? -- some of us are left to ask more mundane questions, like: Was there once soup on Mars? YouTube user UFO Hunter spotted what looks like a spoon half-buried in dust on the surface of the Red Planet.
As thrilling as that sounds, the more likely explanation is that it's an odd spoon-shaped bit of regular old Mars landscape.
Humans have a propensity for assigning familiar characteristics to random objects, a phenomenon called "pareidolia." This is what lets us imaginatively see sheep in clouds and everything from a fish to Donald Trump's face on Mars.
This isn't the first time a spoon-like formation has been spotted in a rover image. A gravity-defying, shadow-casting "spoon" popped up in late 2015. Maybe someday we'll find an entire set of silverware so we can throw a formal dinner party on Mars. Let's just be sure to invite the planet's ancient gods.

When it comes to the hunt for extraterrestrial life, perhaps the biggest dream we have isn't to encounter a civilization like our own, but one far more advanced. Rather than seeking radio signals, electromagnetic beacons or chemical signatures, perhaps we could look for something far more advanced than anything we've done here. Perhaps looking for large-scale planet or solar system modifications -- evidence that aliens had altered an entire world or the space around a star -- would be the miracle signal we've been longing for. If you ever encountered a case where all the natural explanations you could come up with for your observations failed, the idea of Alien Megastructures might be the ultimate dream come true.

The Kepler spacecraft was remarkable for its ability to observe and monitor the brightness of more than 100,000 stars at once over timescales of multiple years. If a star brightened or dimmed, temporarily or permanently, once or periodically, we could determine all sorts of natural causes. Transiting planets that dipped behind or passed in front of their parent star were revealed; hundreds of eclipsing binary stars were uncovered; intrinsically varying stars were found. Practically all of the variations seen were regular, periodic and predictable. But there's one star that stands out from all the others: KIC 8462852, known as Tabby's star for the leader of the team studying it, Tabetha S. Boyajian. Its flux drops off by incredibly large amounts, larger than any conceivable planetary transit could cause, and it does so with no discernible period, with varying drops by varying amounts.

There are a few stars that have been discovered that do something similar, but all of them are part of a class of objects known as YSOs: Young Stellar Objects. The other stars are very young, having not finished forming yet. They all exhibit protoplanetary disks and give off large amounts of infrared radiation. In particular, their light curves -- including the shapes of their dips -- also differ from that of Tabby's star. Out of over 100,000 stars imaged by Kepler, Tabby's star is unique. For one, it has the hallmarks of an older star, one only slightly more massive than our Sun but that's hundreds of millions years old, rather than just a few million like YSOs. No infrared radiation means no protoplanetary disk around it. Large, ringed planets give the wrong signal shape to block that much light. Colliding, massive planets have been disfavored by follow-up studies looking for warm dust as a result. Even dusty, swarming comets would have infrared radiation, but none beyond what's localized in the central star system is seen.

And unlike all the other stars, Tabby's star has controversially been slowly but consistently changing in brightness, with a net dimming, over the past 120 years. When all the seemingly natural, expected explanations fail, whatever is left, no matter how unlikely, must be the truth. Would that mean alien megastructures? Not so fast!

The method involves looking, in gory detail, at all the small dips in brightness coming from the star itself as well as the large, aperiodic ones. The smaller dips are also non-periodic, but are thought to represent the underlying activity -- likely caused by outbursts that then block the light -- from the star. These are frequent, and they occur on all scales: at the 1% level, the 0.1% level, the 0.01% level, etc. By modeling the frequency and intensity of these outbursts, they can construct a mathematical model for the large outbursts, which they dub statistical avalanches. As Mohammed Sheikh, leader of the study, says,
"Once the light curve drops below the threshold, we consider such an event the start of an avalanche. While the light curve remains below the threshold the avalanche continues, and it stops when it increases again to a value above the threshold."
Their analysis shows that the avalanche model is extremely consistent with what's observed. In other words, this could just be a star that's intensely active in some poorly understood way, giving off periodic massive outbursts that cause a dimming of the light. And the fact that stars like this are rare is what's been fooling us all along.
Originally, a scenario of a shattered comet was considered to explain Tabby's star. Instead, a series of long-period comet-like objects with massive dust halos could cause these temporary, transient flux dips.

The second paper hypothesizes a new class of object: a massive object surrounded by a dust cloud. This would sound insane except we already have objects that do this in our Solar System: comets. If they start a long distance from the star, start emitting a tail and a coma, and then transit in front of the star, they could cause these large flux dips. The signal would also be aperiodic. By simply setting up this hypothesis and fiddling with a few free parameters, they can easily fit all four of the largest flux dips fairly well, showing that there is another potential path to solving this problem other than aliens.
The red lines (models) and the green lines (data) can be matched very well from a massive object-with-a-dust cloud model with very few free parameters, but it will take detailed follow-up observations to confirm this picture.

It's only human nature to want the most fantastic of our dreams to come true. To discover an alien species much more advanced than our own would certainly meet that criteria, and would revolutionize how we view our place in the Universe. But before embracing anything along those lines, all the natural explanations need to be ruled out. This includes large-perihelion comets, which could block a large amount of the star's light in a temporary, transient way, and the statistical avalanche theory, which might hold a clue. As physicist Steinn Sigur∂sson states:
The large brightness variations cannot be explained with simple astrophysical models. Normal middle-aged main sequence stars do not exhibit large spontaneous brightness variations. While other stars have been seen to dim by comparable amounts and durations, they were all much younger—in or near the star-forming phase. [Tabby's] star would be a one-in-a-million anomaly.
It's already a one-in-100,000+ anomaly, and everyone agrees that further follow-up observations are mandatory for uncovering the root cause. No matter what the solution, we're bound to learn something new about the Universe. The revolution is at hand. The only question is whether it will be a revolution for stellar astrophysicists, planet hunters, or the entire human race.

Multiple UFOs reported 20 feet over Pennsylvania homes
A Pennsylvania witness at Fairless Hills reported watching four triangle-shaped UFOs silently moving just 20 feet over neighboring homes followed by 20 to 30 star-like objects crossing the sky, according to testimony in Case 80797 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The sighting began about 8:20 p.m. on November 4, 2016, when the witness took his two children out for a walk in search of Pokémon hotspots.
“It was a crisp fall night, and for a night sky, the sky was bright and full of stars with no clouds or precipitation,” the witness stated. “At approximately 8:20 p.m. we turned and began walking up a street with a slight incline, and my youngest child stopped to catch a Pokémon and had lagged behind. I noticed he was no longer with us and I turned around to call to him to catch up, and right behind him were two huge, black, triangular craft, larger than the houses they were above, flying slowly and approximately 20 feet above the one story houses across the street, and approximately 20 feet away.”
The witness immediately spotted a second craft.
“The second craft was flying at the same height as the first craft, immediately behind it. The two craft were black with three unwavering bright white lights at the three corners of the triangles, with a solid bright primary, red light in the center of the craft. The craft were completely silent; they were almost on top of us and we never would have known they were there if I did not happen to look behind us. The two craft came from a western direction and were heading east.”

The objects then changed direction.
“We observed the craft silently shift direction southeast before disappearing behind trees and we lost visual contact with the craft. We continued walking up the road away from the craft headed north, heading home, for approximately 10 seconds, when I looked behind again to where we had sighted the craft. Two more triangular craft were flying in the exact same direction in the exact location where the first two craft were sighted, and they turned and headed southeast in exactly the same spot that the other two craft had turned. It was as if we witnessed deja vu; as if we viewed the event again, but this time at a slightly different angle, as we were slightly farther away from the craft the second time around.”

The witness then returned to the original location.
“We walked back down to the location where we spotted and observed the first craft, this time from a farther distance away, as the craft were heading away from us. And at this point my eldest son managed to snap two photographs of these second two craft with his phone.”
The witness then observed a large group of star-like objects.

“We turned east and onto my road, when we looked up into the sky and witnessed a patch of sky with between 20 and 30 balls of light, exact number unable to be determined, that looked like stars, except that they were moving. Some of the lights were moving very slowly, almost imperceptibly, but other craft were moving so quick that they would leave a light trail behind them, as they shifted position. The lights were different colors, from red to bluish-white to orange to bright white. We walked towards this activity in the sky, however, these lights were high up – like stars – and to the east of our location. Our vision would occasionally be obstructed as we walked on our street due to street lamps, but the activity continued unabated as we reached our house. We ran inside and I asked my wife to come out and check out what was happening in the sky. Approximately three minutes later, just after 8:30 p.m., we walked back outside and there was nothing in the sky where we had just observed the lights; not even observable stars.”
Fairless Hills is in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, population 8,466. Pennsylvania MUFON State Section Director Donna Luther is investigating. A massive, triangle UFO was spotted and recorded on videos above Springfield, Ohio. The witness was driving along a highway approaching Columbus when he first saw strange lights in the sky at 10 p.m. on the 29th of November 2016.
The witness described the colored lights as white, green, and red at the time and cylinder-like. The object got bigger as it became closer to the witness. This time, the object was not a cylinder looking anymore as it was starting to look like an airplane because it became like a triangular shape.
From the witness’ perspective, the object was gigantic.
As the UFO became so close to the witness, he realized that it was not an airplane. He saw a huge triangular shape UFO.
Using his cellphone, the witness captured snapchat videos and immediately sent them to his friends without saving them. Then the UFO started to turn a little bit like an airplane and went back to its straight position, the witness stated.
It came to his mind that it may be a plane crashing, resulting him to freak out. He was just calm down when the UFO was gone when he passed it in a flash and could not see it out of his window anymore.
The witness said that the object in question had a blackish gray base with red lights on it and three white lights on the three corners. He did not save any of the videos, and his friend sent him back screenshotted parts. The witness filed a report that included one image to Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). The recent news on UFO landing on Earth has caused debates online as some enthusiasts suggested it emerged through a bright blue wormhole. The video of the event has since become viral and picked up by many conspiracy news sites and YouTube channels.
Though the video clip has spread widely over the internet, the location is still unknown. Eyewitnesses said the event involved a UFO that seemed to emerge via a bright blue tractor beam.
Skeptics suggested, however, the video is only meant to attract money through advertisements. They said that it is only a spoof or just a lightning strike.
Leading conspiracy theorists claimed that Nevada and Arizona are hotbeds for UFO sightings since they housed some alien spaceships.
Some renowned UFOlogists claimed the sighting happened on December 1 in Arizona. They are convinced that an alien spacecraft shot off through a wormhole to leave the Earth.
Despite allegations from UFOlogists and conspiracy theorists, NASA has refused to provide an official statement about it.

Thank you for reviewing this case. I am also a MUFON member. Please do not dismiss due to the sound on this video, I will explain this odd event, I did not want to modify the video in any way to make it not credible. In September a week or 2 after coming back from Las Vegas Nevada my fiance and I experienced alot of bizarre events. During our trip to Las Vegas, being interested in the truth in EBE’s we drove out to Rachel Nevada, visiting the “black mailbox” I left behind an old student id card (not valid with an old address) after visiting the black mailbox we continued on our way to the back entrance of Area 51 and got as close to the gate as lawfully possible.
As we walked to the gate jokingly I said to my fiance, little do they know that we know the truth. We then came back to WV and just a week or 2 after our trip. My fiance was on the back porch at night (approx time at top) she saw these very low triangular orb set glide across the sky, she then yelled for me to come out. I can describe the object or objects too low to be an airplane and absolutely silent to be a helicopter. Usually helicopters have red flashing or white flashing lights. This was just 3,4 or 5 solid white lights in complete silence. They orbs did not hang around too much and the video was a last second record, so its a bit shaky. The orbs slowly disapeared behind a wooded area, twords the end you may think the lights are flashing but its just the lights shining in and out of trees. *****NOW let me explain the sound*****, after we got done recording it I decided to upload it to facebook and after uploading it to facebook, because I like to educate the public best of my knowledge, for some odd reason, facebook added this most bizarre sound i’ve ever heard. Facebook cant integrate sound into videos you upload.. My fiance and I are very serious on this topic so neither of us would be so arrogant to crack a joke. To this day I still cannot figure out how the audio got added to it or why, to make it a bit more credible, i’m a Systems Engineer, I live, eat, breathe technology.
Some unrelated bizarre happenings few days later after seeing this UFO, for 1 day and 1 day only, talking on the phone with my fiance, almost seemed like some staticy noise with odd sounds in the background, almost like two phone lines crossed over like the old cordless phones. We were using cellphones. It never happened again after that day… I feel like (not being paranoid) I was being profiled some how and some way by the ID I left back at the black mailbox..
