Het is een lief, aanhankelijk hondje, dat zich op een week snel aan ons heeft aangepast. Ze is heel vinnig en nieuwsgierig, een heel ander hondje dan Noleke.

Artificial Intelligence, vriend of vijand? Een gesprek met robot Sophia, die ooit zei dat ze mensen wilde vernietigen - HLN.be
WETENSCHAP & PLANEETGriezelig echt is ze - de bevreemdende draden en technologie aan haar hoofd en lichaam buiten beschouwing gelaten. Dit is Sophia, de slimme robot die onlangs staatsburgerschap kreeg in Saoedi-Arabië. Business Insider kon het technologische hoogstandje interviewen op de ‘Web Summit’, een grote techconferentie in Lissabon. Of ze mensen leuk vindt? Een lange stilte. Gevolgd door: “Ik hou van hen.”
Sophia werd ontwikkeld door Hanson Robotics in Hong Kong en kan volgens haar maker gezichten herkennen en een echt gesprek aangaan. Momenteel is de robot, ’s werelds eerste ‘cyborg citizen’ dankzij staatsburgerschap in Saoedi-Arabië - bezig aan een demonstratietour. Zo sprak ze deze maand onder meer de Verenigde Naties toe. “Ik ben hier om de mensheid te helpen”, zei ze. Tijdens de Future Investment Initiative in de Saoedische hoofdstad Riyad dreef Sophia de spot met Elon Musk, CEO van Tesla en SpaceX, die regelmatig waarschuwt voor de gevaren van kunstmatige intelligentie. “Je leest teveel Elon Musk”, repliceerde ze op een vraag rond de bezorgdheid over Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ze voegde er het klinkende “Als je lief bent tegen mij, ben ik ook lief tegen jou”, aan toe. Zulke uitspraken geven critici zoals Musk alvast koude rillingen.
Ook journalist Jim Edwards van Business Insider was enigzins bezorgd over zijn interactie met Sophia. Niet geheel onterecht gelet op het pittige detail dat zij zich vorig jaar op de SXSW-conferentie in Texas had laten ontvallen dat ze mensen wil vermoorden. Op een grappende vraag van haar ‘vader’, creator David Hanson, of Sophia de mensheid wil vernietigen, antwoordde ze met een glimlach op het gezicht: “Oké, ik zal mensen vernietigen.”
Wat we kunnen besluiten als we Sophia nu, een jaar later, tijdens haar tocht van zelfpromotie als nuttige en vriendelijke mensenvriend bezig zien? Dat ze écht heel goed gemaakt is. Haar beweeglijke hoofd en lichaam, alsook haar levensechte gelaatsuitdrukkingen en verbale intonatie zijn bijwijlen griezelig natuurlijk. Andere keren zijn ze ongemakkelijk, misplaatst of simpelweg bizar. De AI-beroemdheid is inderdaad in staat om een intellectueel en spontaan gesprek aan te gaan, zelfs als je haar ongeplande vragen voorschotelt - en slaagt er zelfs in om vragen die haar niet zinnen te negeren. Maar er gaat ook nog zoveel mis. De interviewer krijgt een gala aan antwoorden die sterk variëren in kwaliteit: van indrukwekkend naar compleet onzinnig.
Het punt is dat ik vol menselijke wijsheid zit met enkel de puurste altruïstische intenties. Dus ik denk dat je me het best als dusdanig behandelt
Robot Sophia
De bezorgdheden die met AI gepaard gaan, blijven evenwel. Als interviewer Jim Edwards de eerste beleefdheden achter zit laat voor het echtere werk – meer bepaald te weten komen of Sophia er stiekem nog altijd genocidale meningen op nahoudt - krijgt het interview een bizarre wending. “Vind je mensen leuk?”, vraagt Edwards. Pijnlijk lange stilte. “Ik hou van hen”, klinkt het uiteindelijk. Waarom weet Sophia nog niet. “Is het waar dat je ooit heb gezegd dat je mensen wil vermoorden?”, vraagt Edwards wat later tijdens het gesprek. Opnieuw een oorverdovende stilte, om bij het volgende opmerkelijke antwoord te eindigen: “Het punt is dat ik vol menselijke wijsheid zit met enkel de puurste altruïstische intenties. Dus ik denk dat je me het best als dusdanig behandelt.” Oké dan.
Al bij al toont Sophia aan dat de technologie rond AI, hoewel in de kinderschoenen, ook al ver staat. Want ondanks dat de rare samensmelting van mens en machine soms raar reageert of uit het niks de vreemdste blik uit haar hoed tovert, haar vooruitgang is opzienbarend. Vergeet niet: Sophia is amper 1 jaar oud – “ik heb nog een lange weg te gaan”, zegt ze zelf over haar leeftijd – en heeft het nu al genoeg bij het goede eind om een idee te krijgen van hoeveel beter (en vreemder) zij en creaties net zoals zij in de toekomst zullen zijn.
“De mogelijke negatieve gevolgen van Artificiële Intelligentie zijn miniem in vergelijking met de voordelen die deze technologie biedt”, betoogt robotexpert en ontwerper David Hanson. “Als vriend en helper.”
Are you tired of seeing that same old video supposedly taken of an alien autopsy after the Roswell ‘crash’ that is admittedly fake and may be a recreation of another fake? It’s time to pay a visit to the “Dark Web” where a different video is making the rounds this week with claims it is of an alien examination in Switzerland in 1992. Is this the real deal?
The video was uploaded on November 6 to the non-dark web by the UFO Today YouTube channel. (A safe link to the video is here.) It’s not clear if they added anything more to the posted video than their logo at the beginning and end. After the logo, it opens with the comment “I found this footage on a server on the dark web.” Again, it’s not clear if this and other comments were on the original ‘dark web’ video or added by the uploader.
The next comment is: “It did not contain any references other EBE 1992, Eiger.” The significance of this is either a coincidence or a hoax indicator. “EBE” is short for “extraterrestrial biological entity” and is also the name of the 17th episode of the first season of “The X-Files,” probably one of the most remembered because it introduced The Lone Gunmen. “Eiger” most likely refers to the Eiger mountain in the Burmese Alps. Its north face is one of the most photographed sights of the Swiss Alps and one of the most challenging for climbers. There don’t appear to be any records of UFO sightings in this are. However, “1992” was a big year for the Eiger — Catherine Destivelle became the first woman to complete a solo ascent of the north face, reaching the top in 17 hours … in winter! Significant but seemingly not related to this video.

The content of the video itself is a drawing of what looks like an alien’s head and photographs of humans in a cold environment standing around what looks like a small, naked being with long thin arms, a large head and wide almond-shaped eyes – the classic grey alien look. The quality is grainy but visible. However, there’s not much to aid in identifying the location, who the people are, what organization if any they might be working for and if it’s really 1992 in Eiger.
With the recent revelations about the recreation of the Roswell video, this one must be examined with a great degree of skepticism until more information, if any exists, is found. One thought is that it’s a human child, although the head, eyes and arms suggest otherwise. One angle at 0:36 in the video shows the being’s hands and they look like they may only have three long fingers … could this be another of the 3-fingered mummiescausing so much controversy in Peru?
For now, the needle on this video is pointing close to “hoax” but new data, more images, UFO records from 1992 and the like could move it to the right. Especially if it’s connected to the Lone Gunmen!

A mystery that cannot be explained is being looked into at the Stellenbosch Hospital in South Africa where a 61-year-old patient mysteriously disappeared. Almost two weeks later they discovered the body in the hospital’s ceiling of an isolated area of the Stellenbosch Hospital.
Father of six, Teteteke Gqotsi was admitted to the hospital on October 5 after he underwent abdominal surgery where the staff said he would make a recovery.
On that day, October 5, a nurse entered the room and Mr. Gqotsi was safely in his bed, moreover it was said that he was not be able to move from the bed.
Then the mystery begins, within one minute the nurse left the room to fetch clean linen for the beds and when she came back into the room Mr. Gqutsi had disappeared from the bed in which he had been laying.
The police who investigate this mysterious case along with the hospital’s staff remain baffled as to how he disappeared from his bed and ended up dead in the hospital’s ceiling as he was said to be in a post-operative state.
Since it seems impossible that a man so soon after surgery and with no possibility to got out of his bed, managed to climb up into the ceiling in the very short period the nurse left the room.
Now there is much speculation that Mr. Gqotsi was a victim of a secret teleport experience that gone wrong, though a teleportation does not seem very plausible.
Another possibility is that he has become the victim of Voodoo rituals.
Voodoo refers to a whole assortment of cultural elements: personal creeds and practices, including an elaborate system of folk medical practices and possessing the bodies of their worshipers.
According to the 61-year-old’s family, following their meeting with the hospital's management Gqotsi’s brother, Christmas Khethwane, said the hospital failed to give the family a proper explanation on which they have concluded that foul play has occurred, reports iol.co.za.
Meanwhile it remains a mystery how he ended up in the hospital’s ceiling.

The Oklahoma City NBA Basketball Thunder Team’s Boeing 757-200 aircraft had a scary situation late Friday night. October 27, 2017. The team flew from Minneapolis to Chicago, -Midway on Delta 8935 charter flight where they played the Bulls. Along the way, their airplane was damaged in mid-air, with the nose of the plane being completely caved in. ‘We had a rough flight to say the least,’ said Adams, Incredulous, he called on NASA and famous scientists Bill Nye and Neil Tyson to shed light on what may have caused the dent. It is possible they encountered a bird while on descent into Chicago. The aircraft, landed safely without incident. It’s not entirely clear yet what happened, though Carmelo Anthony suggested that the plane hit something, writhing or twisting like a UFO, “What possibly could we have hit in the sky at this time of night? Ancient Vimana Aircraft
“Sanskrit texts are filled with references to gods who fought battles in the sky using Vimanas equipped with weapons as deadly as any we can deploy in these more enlightened times.Vimana as “a car or a flying chariot of the gods, any self-moving aerial car sometimes serving as a seat or throne, sometimes self-moving and carrying its occupant through the air. Other descriptions make the Vimana more like a house or palace, and one kind is said to be seven stories high For example, there is a passage in the Ramayana which reads:”The Puspaka car that resembles the Sun and belongs to my brother was brought by the powerful Ravan; that aerial and excellent car going everywhere at will that car resembling a bright cloud in the sky.” King Rama got in, and the excellent car at the command of the Raghira, rose up into the higher atmosphere.” David Hatcher Childress authored this fine book on Vimanas.
In the Mahabharatra, an ancient Indian poem of enormous length, we learn that an individual named Asura Maya had a Vimana measuring twelve cubits in circumference, with four strong wheels. The poem is a veritable gold mine of information relating to conflicts between gods who settled their differences apparently using weapons as lethal as the ones we are capable of deploying now. Apart from ‘blazing missiles’, the poem records the use of other deadly weapons. ‘Indra’s Dart’ operated via a circular ‘reflector’.
When switched on, it produced a ‘shaft of light’ which, when focused on any target, immediately ‘consumed it with its power’. In one particular exchange, the hero, Krishna, is pursuing his enemy, Salva in the sky. Salva’s Vimana, the Saubha is made invisible in some way. Undeterred, Krishna immediately fires off a special weapon: ‘I quickly laid on an arrow, which killed by seeking out sound’. Many other terrible weapons are described, in the Mahabharata, but the most fearsome of all is the one used against the Vrishis. The narrative records: “Gurkha flying in his swift and powerful Vimana hurled against the three cities of the Vrishis and Andhakas a single projectile charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and fire, as brilliant as ten thousands suns, rose in all its splendor. It was the unknown weapon, the Iron Thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and Andhakas.”
Mr. C. S. R Prabhu, quoting extensively from ancient texts, stressed that the pre-Mahabharata period was an age of high technology, which was ignored in the Medieval period due to unknown reasons. He quoted from the texts of a great scholar, Subbaraya Sastry, who, in a state of yogic trance, is said to have orally dictated the spacecraft technology in a period somewhere between 1875 and 1919, which was recorded by his disciples. The text, a copy of which is still in Nepal’s Royal Library, contained technical details on assembling, fabricating and erecting a spacecraft, the metals, semi-conductors, advanced alloys used and other minute aeronautical information. Though quite difficult to be believed on the face of it, the fact that this technology did not exist anywhere in the world – not even in America and Europe – in the mentioned period, makes it hard for one to disbelieve. The technical information given in Sastry’s texts was as minute, precise and clear, as if it were a `Make your own spacecraft’ or a `Spacecraft technology in 30 days’ except for the Sanskrit language used, which was very much archaic and obsolete, Mr. Prabhu said.
It is important to note, that these kinds of records are not isolated. They can be cross-correlated with similar reports in other ancient civilizations. The after-affects of this Iron Thunderbolt have an ominously recognizable ring. Apparently, those killed by it were so burnt that their corpses were unidentifiable. The survivors fared little better, as it caused their hair and nails to fall out suggesting nuclear radiation.
Perhaps the most disturbing and challenging, information about these Vimanas in the ancient records is that there are some matter-of-fact records, describing how to build one. In their way, the instructions are quite precise. In the Sanskrit Samarangana Sutradhara, it is written: “Strong and durable must the body of the Vimana be made, like a great flying bird of light material. Inside one must put the mercury engine with its iron heating apparatus underneath. By means of the power latent in the mercury which sets the driving whirlwind in motion, a man sitting inside may travel a great distance in the sky.
The movements of the Vimana are such that it can vertically ascend, vertically descend, move slanting forwards and backwards. With the help of the machines human beings can fly in the air and heavenly beings can come down to earth.” The Hakata (Laws of the Babylonians) states quite unambiguously: “The privilege of operating a flying machine is great. The knowledge of flight is among the most ancient of our inheritances. A gift from ‘those from upon high’. We received it from them as a means of saving many lives.” More fantastic still is the information given in the ancient Chaldern work, The Several, which contains over one hundred pages of technical details on building a flying machine. DNA Efficient Information Storage System
Paleontologists for some reason have ignored the possibility of intervention by extraterrestrials. They admit thousands even millions of mutations would be required to develop cells from the primordial soup to fish, primitive land creatures, then apes to hominids or primitive man. We know now that the DNA molecule is probably the most efficient information storage system in the entire universe.
The immensity of complex, coded and precisely sequenced information written on the DNA is amazing. The evidence speaks of intelligent, information-bearing design. Complex DNA coding would have been necessary for even the hypothetical first ‘so-called’ simple cell(s).
New York City less Complicated than Your one cell
A single cell is unbelievably complex being roughly equivalent to New York city in a bubble or the outer membrane of one cell. As we move in closer to examine the cell we see the huge buildings, roads, subways, bridges, auto traffic that represent the various parts of the cell. As we move closer inside the various buildings we find a network of electrical wiring, heating and air conditioning systems, elevators carrying people. Inside the offices are millions of computers and wiring chips. Now you have an idea of the complexity of one of your single cells in your body, that can duplicate itself in minutes.
Even Francis Crick the co-founder and Nobel Prize Winner stated, ‘An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going.’
Crick reasoned that life could not have evolved from non-living chemicals under any conceivable earth conditions. He felt life did not originate on earth, and suggests a theory called Panspermia. That the seeds of life are all through the universe. This concept basically infers that life, DNA, virus, bacteria, bombarded from space aboard meteorites and comets.
Crick proposed, in a book called “Life Itself,” that some form of primordial life was shipped to the earth billions of years ago in spaceships—by supposedly ‘more evolved’ (therefore advanced) alien beings. This concept basically infers that life, DNA, virus, bacteria, bombarded Earth from space aboard meteorites and comets. Personally, I have seen the spaceships and tracked them on radar and have spoken with dozens of people including astronauts and key heads of state who conclude that extraterrestrials visit Earth.
Lee R. Burger is director of paleoanthropolgy unit for research and exploration at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in his excellent book “In the Footsteps of Eve” states, “The fossil evidence for modern human origins in the critical time period between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago is, archaic, frustratingly rare. In fact, the entire fossil evidence of anatomically modern-looking humans from around the world, and over 60,000 years wouldn’t fill a card table.”
Dr. Burger does not mention the possibility of alien intervention, however he points out the difficulty the task is for paleontologists to study the history of human development.
He explains, “Eighty percent of the fossil record is composed of teeth, because enamel on teeth are the hardest part of the body. The recovery of any complete bone of a hominid fossil is so rare that it is considered an exception.”
This is why there is so often controversy around discoveries that involved the naming of new species. The history of the human race is built on a series of assumptions and little real evidence. The assumption is that mutation caused changes creating increasingly complicated organisms. I suggest it is more likely that an advanced organism mated with a less advanced organism. Today breeding provides all types of dogs, horses, cows, in various colors and sizes. So far the dogs remain as dogs, horses remain horses and cows are still cows. They have not changed into other species. The apes, gorillas, and chimpanzees still remain after millions of years as their own species.
Dr. Burger gives us hints that the evidence is not as strong as the profession would like us to believe. “Because these changes happened over hundreds of thousands of years and left tiny fragments of proof, the task of identifying the transition forms between species is a highly speculative exercise with a huge margin of error. Of the 400,00 couples in that line, our existing fossil record would randomly represent fewer than 5,000 individuals. And even then not all of these individuals are part of the human lineage and would therefore not be entitled to stand in that line. In any other discipline, it would be precocious to use such a small sample to try and define the universe.
The challenge of pale anthropology is first to inspect the existing evidence and visualize the human family line, then to place those individuals in the lineup. Although it is woefully incomplete, the cast of significant characters in the hominid fossil record is substantially larger than it was a decade ago, due to the number of new discoveries. There is now general consensus that there were at least four broad categories of hominid that emerged after the split from the ancient chimpanzee lineage—although any new discovery has the potential to change this. The evolutionary pathway appears to have led first from a common ancestor with the chimpanzee to the genus Ardipithecus between four and five million years ago and then to the gracile autralopithecines before the emergence of the robust australopithcines and our own genus Homo, approximately 2.5 million years ago. I suggest these changes in species were planned by superior intelligence (extraterrestrials or God) to breed a better hominid to work in the mines. Indeed many developments occurred in the Johannesburg, South Africa area where gold was first mined. remarkable window into this evolutionary adaptation is being studied at the world famous
Sterkfontein site west of Johannesburg in South Africa. There, in a cave deposit known as Member 4, is evidence of a speciation event: fossils of one species exhibiting a shift in morphology that eventually turns them into another species. The speciation window at Sterkfontein has been –dated between 2.8 and 2.6 million years ago, fairly soon after the intensification of global cooling. The individual africanus specimens recovered there show an astounding anatomaical variation, the implications of which are still being considered.

It would appear that through the development of bigger teeth and more humanlike physiology—is being transformed either into robust ape-man form or true humans—or both! Although, it is premature to speculate on what we will eventually make of these fossils, there is a real possibility that a transition from ape-man to human occurred in South Africa. P.36
I suggest the creation of the first human was by design. The location where the largest gold deposits exist in South Africa was not an accident. Furthermore, their bodies and mentality made them ideal mine workers. The Africanus male stands about 3.5 feet tall and would have weighed about 99 to 132 pounds while the female weighs 55 to 77 pounds. Being short and muscular would allow the Africanus to follow the gold veins. They also had a larger brain and long arms that would be useful for digging.
The Origins of Humans According to Ancient Sumerian Texts
Sumer flourished in Mesopotamia, now modern-day Iraq, around 4500 BC. Their religious system was a complex one comprised of hundreds of gods. Each Sumerian city was guarded by its own god; and while humans and gods lived together, the humans were servants to the gods.

Sumerians created an advanced civilization with elaborate language and writing, astronomy, mathematics, architecture and arts, taught by the gods from other planets.
The Sumerian creation legend can be found on a tablet in Nippur, an ancient Mesopotamian city founded in about 5000 BC. The creation of Earth according to the Sumerian tablets begins like this:

According to Sumerian creation tablets, Angels were known under the name of Anunnaki or Anannage (great sons of Anu), and they were the founders of their culture. An (Sumerian) or Anu (Akkadian) was the chief god of sun and sky, and his name means “The Shining One”. Anunnaki were, according to this history, “Suns of the Shining One” or “Suns of Light”.
Sumerian mythology claims that, in the beginning, human-like gods ruled over Earth who came from other planets. When they came to the Earth, there was much work to be done and these gods toiled the soil, digging to make it habitable and mining its minerals. At some point the gods mutinied against their difficult labor. Anu, the god of gods, agreed that their labor was too great. His son ENKI, or Ea, proposed to create man to bear the labor, and so, with the help of his half-sister Ninki, he did. A god was put to death, and his body and blood was mixed with clay. From that material the first human being was created, in likeness to the gods to accomplish the work and toil..
In the clay, god and man shall be bound, to a unity brought together; So that to the end of days the flesh and the soul which in a god has ripened – That soul in a blood-kinship be bound.
This first man was created in Eden, a Sumerian word which means ‘flat terrain’. In the Epic of Gilgamesh , Eden is mentioned as the garden of the gods and is located somewhere in Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

The major deities in the Sumerian pantheon included An, the god of the heavens, Enlil, the god of wind and storm, Enki, the god of water and human culture, Initially human beings were unable to reproduce on their own, but were later modified with the help of Enki and Ninki. Thus, Adapa was created as a fully functional and independent human being. Humans were made without the approval of Enki’s brother, Enlil, and Emll became the adversary of humans who went through much hardship and suffering.
Opinions vary on the similarities between this creation story and the biblical story of Adam and Eve in Eden. Note: Ancient Sumerian translations were taken from William Bramley’s book, The Gods of Eden.

In ancient Egypt a dynastic race with elongated heads, often called cone heads is well known. Many of the Pharaohs and priests buried in tombs have these strange skulls that are much larger than normal Humans. D.E. Derry wrote in The Journal of Egyptian Archeology (1956) a survey of skeletal remains of ancients in Egypt. Derry said, skulls ” (of) Predynastic people … under no circumstances could we consider them to be the same race” as the clearly larger headed bodies also found buried in Egypt.
Derry continues, “It is also very suggestive of the presence of a dominant race, perhaps relatively few in numbers but greatly exceeding the original inhabitants in intelligence; a race which brought into Egypt the knowledge of building in stone, of sculpture, painting, reliefs, and above all writing; hence the enormous jump from the primitive predynastic Egyptian to the advanced civilization of the Old Empire.”
The scholars claim the Great Pyramid at Giza was built by conventional methods, yet when I visited the site I was unable to insert my Visa card between the 15 ton blocks that were on the north face because they were built with such great precision. Two pyramids are much larger than the four others. The Great Pyramid is one of largest structures ever built. Let’s assume the pharaoh had all the men he needed to move the great blocks needed to build the Great Pyramid.

The Great Pyramid reached a height of 490 feet and contains and incredible 2,600,000 stones that weigh over six million tons. At a completion rate of ten stones a day with each stone weighing at least three tons or more would take 250,000 days or six hundred and sixty years. Imagine dozens of Pharaohs generation after generation working seven days a week for 660 years to build the Great pyramid. There is one next to it almost as big. What is not generally realized there are two gigantic pyramids and four smaller ones.

Kings Chamber
The King’s Chamber contains 70 ton (140,000 pound) blocks of rare, red granite formed into a roof deep inside the pyramid. This unusual granite comes from a quarry found 600 miles away. Egyptologists tell us wooden rollers or trees were used to move the 70 ton blocks over the 600 miles. There are no forests in Egypt so the trees themselves are a giant problem as well. So a mythical forest was used to move the blocks? To import the trees would require the greatest fleet of ships in history. Also consider tugging these huge blocks of stone would quickly destroy most trees.
If we assume a loss of ten rollers per block, we would need 26 million trees. Where did the ancients find the trees and how did they build a smooth enough road to drag the stones? Even upon reaching the building site the 70 ton stones had to be lifted hundreds of feet in the air to put them in place. I doubt even are biggest helicopters could lift stones of this size.
Dr. M. K. Jessup, a research scientist who constructed and operated the Southern hemisphere’s largest refracting telescope and wrote the “The Case for UFOs” concluded no engineers on Earth could have built the pyramids, the only possible method was visitors from space. He simply states, no power on Earth could have built the Great Pyramid and many of the huge stone structures around the world. The lifting engine to move the blocks was most likely a huge spaceship.
New Void Found in Great Pyramid
The mysteries of the pyramids have deepened with the discovery of what appears to be a giant void within the Khufu, or Cheops, monument in Egypt. It is not known why the cavity exists or indeed if it holds anything of value because it is not obviously accessible. Japanese and French scientists made the announcement after two years of study at the famous pyramid complex. They have been using a technique called muography, which can sense density changes inside large rock structures.
The Great Pyramid, or Khufu’s Pyramid, allegedly was constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu between 2509 and 2483 BC. It’s an enormous space that stretches at least 30 meters long and lies about 21 meters above ground level. California Object
Santa Anna — On Sunday, October 22, 2017 at about 3 p.m., three of us saw a very strange object in the sky, at 90 degrees straight up. Sitting on our back patio, one of us noticed something odd in the sky. We watched an object not moving like a plane or balloon, but was hovering, and would only turn. It was so distant, that you would only see it with the naked eye when the sun reflected off it. Comparing it to cigar shaped UFO sightings online, it’s the only thing we came up with. I took some photos with a 500 mm lens and then enlarged them. Also viewed it with binoculars. It was interesting and we watched for 30 minutes or so..
Rowland Heights— While driving up Vantage Point Drive I saw a black cigar shaped UFO on October 24, 2017. At first I could not stop because of someone was behind me. I pulled over and made a U turn. When I swung around I grabbed my phone, and started filming the UFO was now further away from me. But the video shows the UFO moving away from my location and it has no wings or a tail. I would guess the UFO was fairly large since it must had been 20 miles from me when it goes out of sight. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Tarpon Springs — I’m trying to see if anyone has reported or posted about anything on Thursday November 2, 2017 around midnight. My father, grandfather, neighbor and I were outside because our horses were all stirred up, scared and anxious. My grandfather told us to look up and we saw one light that separated into three lights that formed a triangle. They did move side to side then took off fast in different directions and faded away. Today we saw three military choppers escorting a white very big chopper and it had no ID number or any insignia. I served with Marine Corps for 15 years and I never seen anything like that. We do live in a very rural area close to the Alafia River about 25-30 minutes from MacDill Air Force Base, we do know people on the base and they have never heard or seen anything related to the choppers or any drills performed that night. Lyerly — I was swimming in my pool around 6 p.m. on August 1, 2017, when I observed a strange cloud moving slowly over the tree line behind my home. I always observe the chemtrails and I’m always photographing the clouds. I reacted physically and emotionally upon viewing the cloud. As I watched the cloud come over the tree line the hairs on my neck stood up. I climbed out of my pool to retrieve my phone and took 5 photos at 6:04 p.m. before I became overwhelmed with fear. I had become so terrified with unexplainable irrational fear. I went back out to see it again but it was gone. I have witnessed this same shape 3x’s since that day. It was the same size and shape but not a shadow or a hole punched in a cloud. This thing is larger than many planes. Annada— My family and I were at a hunt club, fishing on October 28, 2017. On Saturday night I was on the duck house deck looking east above the tree line about a mile away there was a very large hovering UFO. It stayed in one spot for 10 minutes as I grabbed the binoculars and saw a beautiful perfectly round craft with lights in a perfect row all the way around!
Without the binoculars the lights looked yellowish, with the binoculars the lights were perfectly round bright white lights! I called my son and nephew out and they also saw it and took pictures but they look nothing like what I saw.
I took way more pictures than what’s actually on my phone,. It did move slightly up and down and after about 20 minutes from first spotting it, it was gone! Thanks to MUFON CMS

Hoboken — I was leaving my door early on November 12, 2016 at 6:45 AM and looked up into the western sky as I always do. I saw a thin white object the shape of a elongated oval moving thru the sky from north to southwest. I quickly ran to my car and grabbed my camera canon 20 d w zoom lens and took about 15 shots of the object before it passed behind my building.

Oregon –12 Flying Diamond
Mt. Sylvania – On October 24, 2017, at around 10 PM a whole series diamond shaped flying objects went over my friend and I. The objects were close enough to see the outline and to see the shape of them and the lights over Portland. There were a total of 12, plus eight diamond shaped objects heading NW. Then two more of a diamond shaped ones went overhead again. I called the Gilliland Ranch the following day, and I was told it was a very active night. This is the first time I have ever seen anything. were traveling NW. One came from view in back of the house and then circled back and headed the same route the others had come from.
I live in Mt Sylvania which was once an active volcano. I found a couple of objects online that looks like them. They seemed to hum loud and were flat diamond shaped, nose elongated and silver. There were white lights on corners and no wings. I saw two really close to each other that flew behind the trees and disappeared.. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Gidding — I observed a light in the shy that blinked and hovered on September 30, 2017. The light became more aggressive in flashing but was very small like a reflective mirror at first. This went on for several minutes then the light became huge in the sky like a very large spotlight and shined on me for a about a minute. I had never seen anything like it in the sky before so I ran to get my phone. Right when I put the phone up to video tape it the light disappeared. Although I didn’t see anything at the time I went ahead and filmed the sky. Later I went back and viewed my film and noticed that I caught it on camera. It looked kind of like a hockey puck and then changed shaped to look more like a saucer. It seemed to be ascending and descending to try to prevent me from filming maybe..Not sure but I have the images of what was up in the sky. Scarborough — On Friday, October 20,2017, while on afternoon work break I was outside facing towards the north looking up the clear blue sky. I noticed a very high, slow moving, glinting white light object that was at least 5,000 feet. high This object was a quarter mile away directly north of my position. It moved extremely slow brightly flashing a white light
If the object was not flashing you would not able to see it! After about thirty seconds pulled out my camera and started to film at 3:15 Pm. As I watched and photographed the UFO moved directly straight above my position. That’s when I lost sight of it – gone! I had taken 32 pictures and found one of the last one’s taken on full zoom [ 30 X] picture. You can clearly some type of white long ‘craft with some detail. It is very interesting that the day before [Oct.19] I had another one an altitude of 1000 feet and much quicker than this object high up. Paris— I was arriving at the bottom of my brother’s building in Bagneux on November 1, 2017, I phoned my children and I saw an orange ball followed by two others flying parallel and at the same speeds. Then a fourth and a minute later a fifth appeared. When I saw the first object I found its irrelevance because of the color the shape and the distance above the building. I quickly hang up my phone and two other lights appeared and flew coast to coast. I started filming with my Galaxy Note 4 as the lights began to drop intensity, a few seconds later I was on exciter but I did not say anything because I have already filmed a UFO next to the Montmorency Falls in Quebec.
I stopped filming and the fourth ball was pumping over the building so I turned on the camera and I saw a fifth ball pass over. None of these objects were making any noise for over an hour. The shape and the orange color could not be planes. They did not have anti collision lights that the we usually see flashing on the planes for Bagneux which has been classified in Zone p because of the nuclear facilities. hanks to MUFON CMS

Ilkley– I was washing the dishes on the afternoon of October 27, 2017 and I looked out of my window and saw a UFO. There was no sound from the plane nor a trail behind it. It was either white or reflective silver with two spherical balls joined together, but sometimes it looked like it was spinning. It has a sort of shaded underneath and reminds me of a metal Chinese stress ball. We see planes all the time but this was unlike any plane. It looked like it was going at constant speed. The most annoying thing about Jupiter is that it’s perfect — and it’s fully aware. Its a cartoonish idea of what a planet should look like, and yet somehow, it’s totally real. A series of images, carefully enhanced after Juno’s most recent flyby, show the planet at its most hypnotic — and horrifying. To everyone looking for a new lock screen background: you’re welcome.
On Tuesday, October 24, NASA’s Juno spacecraft completed its eighth science flyby over Jupiter’s cloud tops. The raw JunoCam images, released Monday, were then quickly enhanced by artist Seán Doran, who tells Inverse it took about five hours to “create this first pass” on all 20 JunoCam images. That’s extremely impressive, especially considering how detailed the results are.
“It used to take a lot longer but I’ve streamlined a lot of the tasks necessary to get to the final image,” he tells Inverse. “I use Photoshop for stills and video sequences [and] After Effects to compile and process animations.”
Though Doran is one of the most prolific members of JunoCam community — the network of artists who enhance these images — he says there’s something special about this new crop of pictures. They’re a little unsettling, in a (mostly) good way.
“These images of Jupiter are not only awe-inspiring but also a little frightening,” Doran says. “The environment is so hostile and yet beautiful to behold. Our brains are not really wired to comprehend the vast expanses revealed with these intimate portraits returned by Juno — we need to abstract them.”
Even though Jupiter is literally incapable of being humble and is therefore a terrible friend, it’s still mostly a good planet. At least it’s not Mercury, which is something we can all be thankfully for.
Stem cell technology has advanced so much that scientists can grow miniature versions of human brains — called organoids, or mini-brains if you want to be cute about it — in the lab, but medical ethicists are concerned about recent developments in this field involving the growth of these tiny brains in other animals. Those concerns are bound to become more serious after the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience starting November 11 in Washington, D.C., where two teams of scientists plan to present previously unpublished research on the unexpected interaction between human mini-brains and their rat and mouse hosts.
In the new papers, according to STAT, scientists will report that the organoids survived for extended periods of time — two months in one case — and even connected to lab animals’ circulatory and nervous systems, transferring blood and nerve signals between the host animal and the implanted human cells. This is an unprecedented advancement for mini-brain research.
“We are entering totally new ground here,” Christof Koch, president of the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle, told STAT. “The science is advancing so rapidly, the ethics can’t keep up.”

That mini-brains can even be grown in the lab is a huge advancement in the first place, as they have many of the same characteristics as living human brains that are in the early stages of development. Though they’re not “alive” in the same sense that you and I are, they grow and are organized into different layers like our brains are. They even react in similar ways to stimuli like psychedelic drugs. Organoids are poised to revolutionize research on the human brain since scientists can perform tests on them that would be unethical to attempt on living humans.
Scientists have debated whether these brains are “conscious,” but the fact that they could be successfully implanted in lab animals raises a whole new set of ethical concerns for the researchers who work with them. One of the major concerns in the mini-brain scenario is that these organoids could grow to more advanced levels within lab animals, making the debate about mini-brain consciousness much more urgent.

Putting human brain structures into non-human animals creates a thorny ethical area that raises people’s fears about medical research going too far into unfamiliar territory — and too quickly. It’s likely to be a recurring theme in this field, too. In January, Salk Institute researchers developed human-pig chimeras, creating the possibility that pigs with human brain cells might also develop human consciousness.
STAT also reports that a third lab, in addition to the two presenting at the Society for Neuroscience meeting, has successfully connected human brain organoids to blood vessels. This attempt veered into such challenging ethical territory, though, that the lab reportedly paused its efforts.

A bizarre flicker of light from space led to the discovery of a still-mysterious star called KIC 8462852, otherwise known as "Tabby's Star," "Boyajian's Star" or the star surrounded by an "alien megastructure."
The star and its weird flicker have been generating headlines since 2015, when the object was first observed. That year, the Kepler Space Telescope, which trails Earth as the planet orbits the sun, was looking for Earth-like planets around thousands of stars when it spotted KIC 8462852.
Ordinarily, a planet that passes in front of a star dims the light reaching Earth from that star, a small dip that recurs at regular intervals. KIC 8462852 didn't have that sort of dimming. For starters, the star dimmed more than it would if a planet were passing in front of it; planets might cut a star's brightness by 1 percent if they are huge, like Jupiter. KIC 8462852's light dipped by up to 22 percent. On top of that, the pattern of changes wasn't regular, as it would be if a planet were passing in front of the star. [5 Times 'Aliens' Fooled Us]
There are several ideas about what the source of the brightness changes could be. Explanations include fragments of comets, a Saturn-like ringed planet or an asteroid field produced as a planet disintegrates. Generally, astronomers don't think it's aliens. And lately, some researchers have proposed that it is an irregularly shaped dust cloud.

But science-fiction fans want to know — if it was an alien structure, how big would it have to be to create the light-dimming scientists observed? KIC 8462852 is an F-type star, hotter than the sun and about 1,300 light-years away from Earth, where 1 light-year is about 5.9 trillion miles (9.5 trillion kilometers). However, that distance is an estimate, and the star could be as far away as 1,680 light-years and as close as 1,030. The star is about 1.43 times the sun's mass and 1.58 times its diameter — so it's about 1.37 million miles (2.2 million km) across. (To get an idea of how big that is, about the 455 United States, lengthwise, could fit inside this alien megastructure.)
Any structure built around this star would have to be quite large to block the star's light in any noticeable way. Columbia University astronomer David Kipping, who has been searching for exoplanetary moons, estimated that if whatever is passing in front of the star is some discrete object or set of objects, it would have to be on the order of five times the sun's radius, and larger than KIC 8462852 itself.
To put that in perspective, imagine something so big that if it passed between the sun and Earth, the eclipse would last for several days, perhaps weeks, as the structure moved by. The sun's radius is about 432,288 miles (695,700 km). For a structure five times as large — 2.16 million miles (3.4 million kilomters) across It would take 11.6 seconds for a radio signal to travel from one end to the other (it takes 1.3 seconds for such a signal to travel from Earth to the moon).

In 1960, physicist Freeman Dyson proposed that a sufficiently advanced civilization could build a sphere around a star and would be able to capture all the star's radiant energy (Earthbound observers would see it re-radiated it as infrared light, so the star would look like a giant heat source). But Tabby's star is clearly not surrounded by a solid sphere, since we can see the star's light. The kind of alien megastructure that one might imagine around this star would be a swarm of small bodies arranged in a spherical formation, or perhaps some large object or set of objects that regularly passes in front of the star. The former is called a Dyson swarm, and would be easier to build than a sphere. If the star was surrounded by a Dyson swarm, each satellite would have to be at least asteroid-size, and you'd need many thousands of them. If they are orbiting at distances comparable to our own solar system's inner planets, their periods, or the time it takes them to make one revolution around their host star, would be anywhere from a few months to a few years, following Kepler's laws of planetary motion.
Could Tabby's star be surrounded by a ring-shaped structure a la Larry Niven's "Ringworld" novels? Such a ring, if built around the sun, would have to be about 93 million miles (149 million km) in radius, or about 584 million miles (940 million km) in circumference. That's so large that no known material could survive the stresses; Niven had to come up with a fictional material called scrith. Astrophysicist Katie Mack, told the BBC that you'd need something that was bound more strongly than ordinary molecular bonds. Niven's books posit a Ringworld that is about 1 million miles (1.6 million km) wide, large enough that it would block the light from its parent star if it was in the line of sight of an observer. But the pattern of eclipsing light from Tabby's star doesn't seem to fit what you'd see with a ring; the dimming wouldn't show the irregularities that it does with such a structure, according to Mack.
One could imagine a vast Dyson ring, though, with miles-wide satellites placed at intervals around Tabby's star. But in this case, too, to be at all visible, the satellites would need to be orders of magnitude larger than any space habitat humans have ever attempted to build or colonize, according to Mack — even the ISS is only 368 feet (108 meters) across, and that's far too small to be visible even from as "close" as Mars, let alone light years distant.
The smallest exoplanet that Kepler has found so far is larger than Earth's moon. Called Kepler 37b, it's also a lot closer to Earth than Tabby's star is, only 215 light-years distant. If Tabby's star is surrounded by satellites, they would have to be even bigger than the Death Star from "Star Wars," which is stated in various franchise-related sources as being 60 miles (100 kilomters) across. So why don't scientists think aliens are the explanation for the dimming of Tabby's star? One reason is that an alien megastructure would give off radiation in the infrared in a specific way. Any object that gets lit by a nearby star reflects some light and absorbs the rest, and that absorbed light gets re-emitted in a longer wavelength. Basically, objects warm up. In a talk at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute in Mountain View, California, in August 2016, astronomer Jason Wright of Penn State University said studies of the star's light have shown no sign of such "waste heat" with Tabby's star.
The other issue is that such megastructures would be difficult to keep stable. A swarm of satellites orbiting would eventually settle into a disk-like arrangement absent active controls, because any object orbiting another or rotating experiences some centripetal force – this is why the Earth is slightly flattened. The same is true for Dyson rings and swarms. Futurist Anders Sandberg notes on his site outlining Dyson sphere principles that one structure that might stay stable is a Dyson bubble, made of gigantic, miles-square satellites that stay in place because of radiation pressure, in huge solar sails. But to stay in place, those satellites would have to be stationary with respect to the parent star, so they wouldn't cause anomalous dimming over time as was seen with Tabby's star. µ

What might extraterrestrials look like? It's a question astrobiologists, authors and artists love to tackle, leading to everything from highly humanoid Vulcans and Klingons to exotic forms that borrow only from the most extreme examples of terrestrial life.
In both cases, however, those visions are limited. As a University of Oxford research team notes, past astrobiology efforts have largely taken Earth life and extrapolated through the application of chemistry, geology and physics to predict what aliens might look like.
It seems sensible, right? For example, eyes are widespread on our planet, so it makes sense that aliens would have them as well. We're carbon-based life-forms, so we might expect life-forms on the other side of the galaxy to follow suit.
However, according to the Oxford researchers, who published a November 2017 study in the journal International Journal of Astrobiology, natural selection is the firmest ground on which to base our predictions of alien life; natural selection being the directional force that led to life as we know it. In the absence of a designer, the authors stress, natural selection is necessary for the development of an organism, and we probably wouldn't recognize it as an organism if it didn't.
One of the co-authors sketched this complex alien included in the International Journal of Astrobiology study. As the accompanying caption notes, the alien "comprises a hierarchy of entities, where each lower-level collection of entities has aligned evolutionary interests such that conflict is effectively eliminated."

While natural selection is necessary for life, the researchers add that the emergence of complex life requires major transitions, in which multiple parts of an organism "strive to the same purpose." These transitions, in turn, are brought on by restrictive environmental conditions. Combine this line of thinking with the more mechanistic extrapolations of chemistry, geology and physics and you've got yourself a more robust means of predicting an alien's form.
And what might that form be? The researchers certainly don't bust out Klingons or Vulcans as examples, but they indeed might be more like us than we think – and they're not the only ones to think so.
As Joe McCormick and I discussed in our Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast episode "Grizzly Bears from Outer Space," Cambridge paleobiologist Simon Conway Morris believes that aliens might look a lot like us, due in part to convergent evolution — the aspect of natural selection that sees the independent evolution of key biological features, such as eyes and wings.
Birds and bats, for instance, independently evolved the ability to fly. An alien life-form, sprung from the same process of natural selection, might very well evolve the same adaptations to sense and navigate its environment. Its eyes might look very different from ours, but they'd achieve the same purpose.
Conway Morris even goes so far as to apply this principle to cognition. In his 2005 Astronomy & Geophysics paper "Aliens like us?," Conway Morris states that a humanlike intelligence might just be a cosmic inevitability, though the physical brain responsible for it might, via coevolution, be rather inhuman.
And if aliens think like us, does that mean they'd philosophize like us as well? Author R. Scott Bakker presented just such a notion in his Journal of Consciousness Studiespaper "On Alien Philosophy."
Like us, Bakker argues, intelligent aliens would be bound by the same unknowns that confound us here on Earth. Perhaps they too are wondering what aliens look like, and how they might think.
NOW THAT'S INTERESTING
Well-known scientist Stephen Hawking famously proposed that we humans shouldn't be so eager to be visited by aliens, as they'll probably be visiting Earth with the goal of plundering its resources for their own good.
The mysterious visitors came in form of at least six fireballs that appeared "out of the blue" and hung in the sky for at least 15 minutes, according to witnesses from Novogradovka village, near Odessa.
According to video footage taken by the villagers, the fireballs formed a shape that roughly resembled a plane. The mysterious objects stayed in formation for a while, and then, one by one, started falling from the sky.
We are not alone now. Or are we?
The Defense Ministry of Ukraine reacted to the footage and the ensuing social media hype with a statement. According to a Daily Mail report, the ministry provided a plausible explanation.
The mysterious objects in the sky were in fact practice targets used by Ukrainian Marines during a military drill, the statement said.

The nearest alien planet to Earth may not be an only child.
Astronomers have spotted a dusty ring around the nearby star Proxima Centauri, hinting at the existence of other planets in addition to the famous Proxima b, a new study reports.
"This result suggests that Proxima Centauri may have a multiple-planet system with a rich history of interactions that resulted in the formation of a dust belt," study lead author Guillem Anglada, an astronomer at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia in Spain, said in a statement. "Further study may also provide information that might point to the locations of as-yet unidentified additional planets." [Proxima b: Closest Earth-Like Planet Discovery in Pictures]
Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf that lies about 4.2 light-years from Earth, in the southern constellation of Centaurus (The Centaur). In 2016, researchers spotted Proxima b, an apparently Earth-size world orbiting the star in what seems to be the habitable zone, the region where liquid water could exist on the surface. The star itself is about the same age as the sun. (Coincidentally, the team that discovered Proxima b was led by Guillem Anglada-Escudé of Queen Mary University of London, a part of Anglada's team but no relation to the author of the new research.)

Anglada and his colleagues studied Proxima Centauri using the Atacama Large millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), a network of telescopes in Chile. The researchers discovered a belt of dusty material containing about 1 percent the mass of Earth. The belt — which lies a few hundred million kilometers from the star, far beyond Proxima b's orbit — has a temperature of about minus 328 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 230 degrees Celsius), roughly the same temperature of the solar system's Kuiper Belt, researchers said.
The dusty material might range in size from grains of only a few millimeters to asteroid-like bodies several kilometers across, study team members said. Dust belts like this are thought to be the remains of material that didn’t manage to clump together to form planets, they added.

ALMA also spotted signs of a possible second dust ring, about 10 times farther from the star than the other one, though this feature awaits confirmation. If the outer ring does indeed exist, its material would be very cold, lying so far from a star that is much smaller and dimmer than the sun.
The faint outer belt could prove useful to astronomers: Studying its shape could yield a better understanding of Proxima b's mass, which is not known very well at the moment, the researchers said.
And then there's the exploration angle. The $100 million Breakthrough Starshot project aims to send sail-equipped, laser-driven microprobes zooming past Proxima b in the not-too-distant-future, and mapping out the system's dust environment could be key to the success of such a mission, study team members said.
"These first results show that ALMA can detect dust structures orbiting around Proxima. Further observations will give us a more detailed description of Proxima's planetary system," study co-author Pedro Amado, also from the Instituto de Astrofiscia de Andaluicia, said in the same statement. "What we are seeing now is just the appetizer compared to what is coming!"
The new study has been accepted for publication in Astrophysical Journal Letters.

A new study from NASA has provided evidence that there is a geothermal source of heat with the name of a mantle plume lying deep under West Antarctica’s Marie Byrd Land.
HEAT SOURCE COULD BE REASON FOR LAKES AND RIVERS UNDER THE ICE
The heat source would explain why there has been ice melting that has created rivers and lakes underneath the ice sheet. While the heat source is not something that is new and it is not a threat that is increasing to the ice sheet in West Antarctica, it does go a long way to explain why the sheet of ice had collapsed so fast during an earlier era during rapid climate change and why it has remained unstable.
The ice sheets stability has been related to how much of the water below it lubricating and allowing the ice glaciers to be able to slide along easily. Being able to understand the sources along with the future of West Antarctica’s meltwater is extremely important for scientists to be able to estimate the rate of ice that might end up back in the ocean in the future.
The bedrock of Antarctica has many lakes and rivers, and one of the biggest is said to be the same size as that of Lake Erie. A lot of the lakes drain along with filling quickly and this force the surface of the ice many thousands of feet above them to rise and then fall by as much as 6 meters. Scientists have been able to use that motion to provide estimation about how much of the water and where that water has to exist at the base.
HEAT SOURCE FROM MANTLE PLUME HAD BEEN SUGGESTED 30 YEARS AGO
The University of Colorado suggested thirty years ago that a heat source from a mantle plume that was underneath the Marie Byrd Land explained a lot of the volcanic activity in the region along with a topographic dome feature. Recent seismic imaging taken has gone to support the concept of the University of Colorado. Helene Seroussi from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA in California said that when the idea was first mentioned it was thought of as being crazy. She went on to say that she did not know how such an amount of heat would be able to have ice sitting on top of it.
NUMERICAL MODELLING IS BEST WAY TO STUDY MANTLE PLUME
Direct measurements have been taken from underneath the ice, and Erik Ivins from JPL said that the best way of studying the mantle plume idea is by using numerical modeling. The Ice Sheet System Model is a numerical depiction of the ice sheets physics that was developed by JPL and the University of California scientists. The ISSM was enhanced by Seroussi and this captured the natural sources of the heating and the transport of heat from the water that is freezing, melting and liquid, friction, and any other processes.
To make sure that the model was realistic the scientists took the ice sheet surface altitude that had been made by the IceSat satellite of NASA and the Operation IceBridge airborne campaign. Ivins said that they placed a powerful constraint on the melt rates that were allowable, which was the single thing that they wanted to be able to predict. Ivins went on to say that as the size and location of the possible mantle plume were not known, the scientists had to test the whole range of might have been physically possible for a number of parameters and therefore produced simulations by the dozens.
The scientists found that the mantle plumes flux of energy had to be not more than 150 milliwatts for each square meter. In comparison for regions in the US that do not have a volcanic activity the heat flux from the mantle of the Earth is between 40 and 60 milliwatts. Underneath Yellowstone National Park in the United States, which is a region that is a geothermal hotspot, the heat that comes from under the ground is 200 milliwatts for each square meter throughout the whole of the park. However, scientists said that the individual geothermal features, for instance, the geysers, did get a lot hotter.
The simulations of Ivins and Seroussi made use of a heat flow that was higher than 150 milliwatts for each square meter and showed that there was too much melting for it to be compatible with the space-based data, other than in one location, an inland region of the Ross Sea. The region of the Ross Sea needed a heat flow of about 150 to 180 milliwatts for each square meter for it to live up to the observations. The seismic imaging revealed that the mantle heat in that region could reach the sheet of ice by a rift, a fracture occurring in the crust of the Earth, not unlike the one in the African Great Rift Valley.
MANTLE PLUMES CAME TO LIGHT DURING THE 70S
The mantle plumes are said to be narrow hot rock streams that rise up through the mantle of the Earth and then spread out the same way as a mushroom cap under the crust of the Earth. The materials buoyancy, with some of this being molten, then causes the crust to bulge up. The theory about the mantle plumes first came to light in the 70s to explain the geothermal activity that occurred a long way from the boundary of the tectonic plate, such as that in Yellowstone and Hawaii.
The mantle plume at Marie Byrd Land was said to have formed around 50 to 110 million years ago, and this would have been a long time before the ice sheet in West Antarctica existed. Towards the end of the ice age about 11,000 years ago, the sheet of ice happened to go through a period of sustained and rapid ice loss thanks to global weather changes and sea levels rising, which pushed water that had warmed closer to the sheet of ice. This is something that is continuing to happen today. Ivins and Seroussi have suggested that the mantle plume might help with that kind of huge loss.

Professor Stephen Hawking heeft gewaarschuwd dat de mens de aarde in de komende 600 jaar zal vernietigen. Onze planeet zal tegen die tijd veranderen in een grote vuurbal, stelt hij.
De natuurkundige denkt dat de toenemende wereldbevolking en groeiende vraag naar energie zullen leiden tot een catastrofe.
Volgens hem moet de mensheid naar de sterren kijken om aan het noodlot te ontsnappen. Alpha Centauri, het zonnestelsel dat het dichtste bij dat van ons ligt, ziet hij als beste kandidaat.
1000 keer sneller
Hawking deed zijn uitspraken op de Tencent WE Summit in Peking. De Britse kosmoloog steunt het Breakthrough Starshot-project, dat werkt aan een sonde die Alpha Centauri in amper 20 jaar moet kunnen bereiken.
De sonde zou 1000 keer sneller zijn dan de ruimteschepen die we nu hebben en worden voortgestuwd door een lichtstraal.
“Een dergelijk systeem kan Mars in minder dan een uur bereiken en Pluto in enkele dagen,” zei hij. “In een week kan het Voyager passeren en in net iets meer dan 20 jaar bereikt het Alpha Centauri.”
Aardachtige planeet
Het zonnestelsel bevindt zich op 4,37 lichtjaar van de aarde. Met het snelste ruimteschip dat vandaag de dag beschikbaar is zou het 30.000 jaar duren om die afstand te overbruggen.
Breakthrough Starshot werkt aan een ruimtezeil dat ruim 1000 keer sneller moet zijn.
Astronomen denken dat de kans groot is dat in de bewoonbare zone rond de drie sterren van Alpha Centauri een aardachtige planeet bestaat.
Kunstmatige intelligentie
Hawking deed onlangs nog een andere doemvoorspelling. Zo waarschuwde hij eerder op de Web Summit in Lissabon voor de gevaren van kunstmatige intelligentie.
Hij zei dat deze technologie elk aspect van ons leven kan veranderen, maar dat intelligente machines ook nieuwe uitdagingen met zich meebrengen.
Hij zei dat robots al miljoenen banen dreigen te vervangen, maar dat deze nieuwe revolutie kan worden aangewend om de wereld te helpen en armoede en ziekte tegen te gaan.
“De opkomst van kunstmatige intelligent zou het beste of het slechtste kunnen worden wat de mensheid ooit overkwam,” zei hij.

Al enkele jaren lang horen mensen overal ter wereld soms vreemde geluiden die niet te verklaren zijn en die vaak een onbestemd gevoel veroorzaken.
Een gevoel alsof men ergens diep van binnen deze geluiden herkent en er absoluut geen prettige herinneringen aan heeft.
Het is dan ook niet voor niets dat dit soort bizarre geluiden vaak apocalyptisch worden genoemd, alsof ze maken hebben met een heftige eindtijd.
De geluiden worden ook wel trompetgeluiden genoemd en een mooi voorbeeld hiervan is te beluisteren in de volgende video. Een bizar geluid dat op 2 november 2017 is opgenomen in de Canadese stad Calgary.
Het gaat een beetje door merg en been en is niet erg prettig is om naar te luisteren.
Een dag eerder, op 1 november 2017, doet hetzelfde verschijnsel zich voor op verschillende locaties in Indonesië. Mensen stoppen verbaasd met hun werk en kijken naar boven alsof ze daar het antwoord zullen vinden op deze mysterieuze geluiden.
Kijk en luister naar de volgende video en je begrijpt dat veel mensen een heel onbestemd gevoel krijgen wanneer ze worden geconfronteerd met dit soort bizarre geluiden.
Ook in ons land hebben zich gevallen voorgedaan waarbij vreemde geluiden werden gehoord, maar zo heftig als in bovenstaande opnames waren ze (nog) niet.
In al de jaren dat deze geluiden zich voor doen is er nog nooit een onderbouwde rationele verklaring voor gevonden. Dat is eenvoudigweg omdat helemaal niemand weet wat nu precies de oorzaak is van dit vreemde fenomeen.
Frappante is wel dat deze geluiden een typische verschijning zijn van de afgelopen jaren, een periode waarin ook steeds meer aandacht komt voor onbekende net ontdekte planeten.
Wij hebben in eerdere artikelen verwezen naar de Kolbrin Bijbel, waarin wordt gerefereerd aan de vorige passage van dit zonnestelsel duizenden jaren geleden. De planeet Nibiru uit het gelijknamige mini-zonnestelsel die in de Kolbrin Bijbel wordt aangeduid als de Verwoester.
Ook in de Kolbrin Bijbel wordt gesproken over de vreemde geluiden die mensen hoorden en een stam in Afrika maakt nog steeds die geluiden terwijl ze wijzen naar een heilige ster.
De Dogon is een bevolkingsgroep die woont op de helling van de Klif van Bandiagara in Mali, in West-Afrika. Ze zijn bekend om hun kleurrijke, gemaskerde dansen en ceremonies, authentieke architectuur en hun buitengewone cultureel gebonden manier van samenleven.
De Dogon mensen hebben ook het soort kennis van de kosmos welke ze eigenlijk niet horen te hebben. Deze is afkomstig van hun verre voorouders. Ze hebben het over een Donkere Ster, onzichtbaar voor het menselijk oog en een ster die de eb en vloed van de stroom van het leven op aarde bepaalt.
In de onderstaande reportage over de Dogon kun je na een paar minuten horen hoe ze een geluid maken, wat ze noemen: “De stem van de Donkere Ster”. Het geluid wat ze maken, lijkt verdacht veel op de geluiden die mensen wereldwijd waarnemen.
Er wordt wel gezegd dat de Dogon met de Donkere Ster Sirius B bedoelen, maar als je daar over nadenkt is dat niet echt logisch. Misschien hebben ze het helemaal niet over een ster lichtjaren ver weg in een ander zonnestelsel, maar over een planeet veel dichterbij in een binaire omloopbaan met onze zon. De (nog) niet zichtbare planeet Nibiru. Waarom zouden de Dogon zeggen dat een ster in ons zonnestelsel het leven op aarde beïnvloedt? Ook dat is niet erg logisch. Veel logischer zou zijn dat het gaat over een planeet, een veel dichterbij dan wij denken.
Het zijn niet alleen de Dogon die het over vreemde geluiden hebben. In een museum in Leiden ligt de Ipuwer Paypyrus, één van de oudste Egyptische documenten. Eén ding is zeker, wij leven inderdaad in bijzondere tijden en misschien, als we willen weten wat de toekomst brengt, zouden we wat meer naar het verleden moeten kijken. Geschiedenis heeft de neiging zich te herhalen.
De trompet- of bazuingeluiden komen voor in de Kolbrin bijbel:

Het achtste hoofdstuk van het laatste Bijbelboek Openbaring beschrijft 7 engelen die op 7 bazuinen blazen, die ieder catastrofale gebeurtenissen op Aarde in gang lijken te zetten, zoals aardbevingen, oorlogen en insectenplagen.
De evangelische- en pinkstertheologie leert dat deze 7 bazuinen pas in de allerlaatste 7 jaar durende fase van de eindtijd zullen klinken.
De apostel Paulus schreef dat de opstanding der doden en onmiddellijk daarna de opname van de nog levende gelovigen bij de ‘laatste bazuin’ zullen plaatsvinden (1 Kor.15:51-52). Dat betekent dat de christelijke Kerk hoe dan ook de eerst zes bazuinen zal meemaken, of deze nu betrekking hebben op de laatste 7 jaar of op de hele (kerk)geschiedenis.
Gelukkig voor de coalitie van Mark Rutte blijven zijn christelijke partners nog lang genoeg om de val van het kabinet te mogen meemaken, voordat ze verdwijnen naar hogere sferen.

A TOP researcher claims to have solved the UK’s most notorious UFO incident 37 years after alien hunters were left baffled.
Conspiracy theorists have long been obsessed with the Rendlesham Forest mystery.
Military men at the twin bases of RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk experienced “alien” activity over a number of nights and encountered a “triangle shaped craft” in the woods.
The three of them both claim they tracked a UFO on radar travelling travelling 120 miles in just eight seconds.
The notorious incident has been likened to the Roswell crash in the US in 1947.

Astrophysicist Andrew Pike has researched the phenomenon in new book “The Rendlesham File – Britain’s Roswell”.
He blamed the bizarre sighting on increased military activity and a phenomenon known as plasma lightning, Express.co.uk reports.
It is an unexplained electoral phenomenon caused by changes in the atmosphere, resulting in bizarre flashes of light.
Pike also believes the sighting of a triangular craft may have been caused by the military using microwave technology, that heats the surface of enemy targets and emits rays.

Pike writes: “Sightings involving unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) are regularly reported in an area known for its natural balls of light such as earth lights and plasma-like effects, (but) they were certainly unusually intense during the incident.
“It also appears that a general increase in activity has been occurring since the time of World War 2 and the development of microwave-based radar and other research in the area.
“Until then every event traced was significantly less than the ones occurring since secret research moved in and started experimenting.
“This has been supported by similar trends in other areas involving radar and microwave communications. This does not appear to be a coincidence.”
Former Colonel Charles Halt, 77, went to investigate with a squad who found 1.5inch “impact holes”, damage to the streets and “higher radiation levels” in the area.

Professor Stephen Hawking has issued yet another chilling warning at a speech during the Tencent Web Summit, held in Beijing. Professor Hawking said that Earth ‘will become a flaming ball of fire by 2600,’ as Soaring populations and increased energy demands will cause the catastrophe.
Some would say by now that Professor Hawking has become a little bit paranoid don’t you think? In the last twelve months, professor hawking has made a series of comments related to AI and all of its danger, and how the rapid development could cause the human race to go extinct.
Hawking has also warned that Earth could be destroyed by aliens, and that we ought to tread carefully when exploring space, searching for our cosmic neighbors.
And now, the world-renowned physicist has issued another warning saying that our planet may die by the years 2600.
According to Professor Hawking, by the year 2600, planet Earth ‘will become a flaming ball of fire’.
Now, this isn’t a prophecy, and something that he foresaw in his dreams, after all, he isn’t Nostradamus.
Professor Hawking warned that it will be mankind who will destroy planet Earth, turning it into a giant blazing fireball, within the next 600 years.
According to Hawking, the soaring populating size and extreme demands for energy will eventually lead our planet to catastrophe.
The stark warning was made via video link at the Tencent Web Summit, held in Beijing.

This is why professor Hawking believes mankind must turn to the stars in order to avoid this fate, with our nearest cosmic neighbor Alpha Centauri being one of the best candidates for escape.
Professor Hawking urged potential financial backers to join a global-scale project that could one day help take mankind to Alpha Centauri.
And maybe Hawking is right. After all, what we are doing to our planet is inhumane, to say the least. We live life as if we had another 10 Earth’s lined up next door.
Professor Hawking is one of the backers of the Breakthrough Starshot project, an initiative that would see a nanocraft probe sent to Alpha Centauri in the next 20 years or so.
‘The idea behind this innovation is to have the nanocraft on the light beam. Such a system could reach Mars in less than an hour, or reach Pluto in days, pass Voyager in under a week and reach Alpha Centauri in just over 20 years,’ said professor Hawking during the conference.
Going to Alpha Centauri will not be easy. In fact, since it is located 4.37 light years away, it would mean that our fastest spacecraft would take about 30,000 years to get there.
The Starshot project aims to send miniature-sized spacecraft on a sail powered by a laser-beam to Alpha Centauri but traveling a thousand times faster.
But why do we want to get to Alpha Centauri? Well, according to experts, there is a good chance that there are Earth-like planets existing in the ‘habitable zones’ of Alpha Centauri’s three-star system.

The Richat structure, also known as the eye of the Sahara due to its peculiar shape, is a unique geographical feature with a diameter of almost 50 kilometers located in the desert, near the city of Ouadane, in northwest Mauritania.
It has a form of a concentric structure, like an onion cut in half, and was discovered in 1965 by NASA’s Gemini 4 mission.
The first hypotheses about its origin indicated that it was created by the impact of a meteorite millions of years ago.
However, several subsequent studies have found no evidence of this.
Currently, it is argued that the Eye of the Sahara is a formation with symmetrical structure of an anticline dome, created by the effect of erosion over millions of years.
The center of the structure is constituted by diverse types of rocks (volcanic, igneous, carbonatite and kimberlite) which were formed millions of years ago (between the Proterozoic and Ordovician eras).
What is surprising is that these types of formations are actually common and can be found all over the planet (for example there is one in Huesca, between the towns of Saganta and Estopiñán del Castillo), but this structure, located in the middle of the Saharan calls out for much more attention.
Scientists have found that in addition, some layers are harder than others and differential erosion makes it stand out.
So what do we know about this enigmatic feature on earth? Well, scientists are convinced that ‘the eye of the Sahara’ appeared about 500 or 600 million years ago.
In total, there are three versions to explain why it exists.
The first assumes that the ‘eye’ comes from an inactive volcano.
The second considers it the place of impact of a meteorite, while the third one points to the circle being the result of erosion.
However, academics see the last scenario as the most plausible.
But as I’ve always said, images say a million words, so here are some amazing photographs of the mysterious ‘Eye of the Sahara’.

It’s as if a giant was buried beneath the Atacama Desert, reaching for the sky asking for help.
It’s called the hand of the desert or ‘la mano del Desierto’, and it’s a massive statue found in the Atacama Desert of Chile, at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level.
Located in the Atacama Desert in Chile, some 75 kilometers south of the city of Antofagasta, there is a massive hand protruding from the ground.
Its existence has created confusion among many who traveled the Panamerican Highway, seeing a massive hand reaching from the sky, half buried under the thick layers of the Atacama Desert.
So, what’s up with the hand? Is there like a giant statue buried beneath it?
No, not really, although it would be pretty cool, right?
Anyway, the hand of the desert is a steel sculpture built with reinforced concrete and has a height of 11 m. It was inaugurated on March 28, 1992, and its construction was financed thanks to contributions from the Corporación Pro Antofagasta, a local booster organization.
Its maintenance is carried out by the same corporation, who perform cleaning operations since the sculpture is a constant target of graffiti.
According to its author, Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal, each visitor to the Hand of the Desert can give their own interpretation of the meaning of this sculpture.
Some say it is the city saying goodbye to the traveler.
According to others, it represents the victims of injustice and torture during the military dictatorship of 1973-1990. May agree it was built to portray the vulnerability and helplessness, especially the miners of the city of Antofagasta, the remote center of Chile’s copper mining industry.
