‘Mystery Animal’ Sought in Horrific Sheep Mutilations
‘Mystery Animal’ Sought in Horrific Sheep Mutilations
Farmers in the Niali district of India are reporting a series of horrific sheep mutilations that has seen five sheep killed in three separate villages this week. All of the sheep were found eviscerated with their livers almost surgically removed through their abdomens. Unidentified footprints have been found near the scenes of the crimes, reports local news outlet Kalinga TV, but the identity of the animal (or whatever) responsible is still unknown. These new mutilations bring this month’s death toll to close to thirty sheep.
Some of the most recent victims.
It seems something has developed a taste for sheep in the rural Niali region of India. Over the last few months, hundreds of sheep have been brutally slain and mutilated despite the best efforts of forest officials and local wildlife experts. The culprit has never been caught, much less identified. Local shepherd Nilamani Das toldTimes of India that sheep farmers in the area are terrified by the unexplained killings which follow the pattern of a series of mutilations earlier this year:
We sustained huge losses after our sheep were killed by unknown animal in June. We were not compensated also. With much difficulty we started our lives again and see the predator has come again to haunt us.
Forest officials, meanwhile, are clueless, replying only with “We are trying our best to catch the killer animal.” Sheep farmers have taken to guarding their flocks at night and even sleeping among the animals to protect them from whatever could lurk in the shadows.
It’s been a bad year to be a sheep.
While these killings sound awfully reminiscent of many mythological creatures like the Chupacabra, the animal’s identity and motivation is likely a much sadder tale. Changing climate patterns and continued human population growth have pushed many once-elusive animals into direct contact with humans. Unfortunately, this growth has meant bringing our livestock directly to these predators whose once plentiful prey and habitat are now long gone. Sure, maybe it’s a horrible nightmarish beast. But maybe, though, the creature is us. Maybe we are the nightmarish beast, bumbling our way towards causing a mass extinction with our insatiable growth. Until the killer in Niali is caught, there’s no telling for sure what might be prowling in the darkness.
Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) may have discovered the first case of alien life after allegedly finding bacteria on the hull of the space station.
This bacteria was not there at the launch of the ISS and therefore could have come from outer space.
"Bacteria that had not been there during the launch of the ISS module were found on the swabs," confirmed Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, who was part of a team of scientists aboard the orbiting station.
"That is, they came from somewhere in outer space and settled on the outside of the station," he told a Russian news outlet
Flight engineer Shkaplerov will take his third trip to the ISS in December as part of the Expedition 54 crew. He revealed that scientists found the bacteria while taking samples from the exterior surface of the station during a previous mission.
They are currently being analysed to find out if they really are extra-terrestrial in nature. Some bacteria originating from Earth (specifically, Madagascar) has been found to survive the vacuum of space after being lifted off our planet by a phenomenon known as "ionosphere lift".
It has been known to attach itself to the surface of the space station which is orbiting 20km above the Earth.
Cosmanaut Shkaplerov insisted that the bacteria found on the station is not dangerous to humans.

IN BRIEF
A German theoretical physicist has proposed a modification to the first-ever interstellar spacecraft that would allow it to decelerate enough to orbit an exoplanet and potentially seed a second Earth. However, the 12,000-year-long transit time could make garnering support for the mission difficult.
Egocentric Enterprise
For the past 30 years, popular opinion about where in space humans should go next has swayed between a new mission to the Red Planet and a return to the Moon. Considering the smorgasbord of problems we’ve made for ourselves on planet Earth, from ecological to economic, such goals of exploration and colonization can have an egoistic, even selfish, root — we may need to find a new home due to the aforementioned problems and a litany of unmentioned ones.
However, even the most optimistic colonization estimates are measured in decades, and there’s no guarantee that we’ll survive the rest of this century, let alone long enough to effectively expand humanity throughout the galaxy. But what if, right now, we could start the process of seeding life on other worlds? Humanity may not survive, but some form of life could.
Claudius Gros, theoretical physicist at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, thinks we should consider it. He believes seeding life throughout the cosmos takes precedence over human colonization, and he also believes this process of intentionally seeding other planets in the universe with life, more succinctly known as deliberate panspermia, is within our technological capability.
Breakthrough Starshot is an ambitious plan to send the first probe ever to Alpha Centauri, our nearest neighboring star after the Sun, using a laser propulsion system.
That trip is expected to take about 20 years and will require that a probe weighing just one gram be accelerated to a speed of 160 million kmh (100 million mph), or one-fifth the speed of light. The probe won’t have a braking system and is expected to whiz by the star hours after reaching it, just enough time to take pictures to transmit back to Earth.
In a recent study published in Journal of Physics Communications, Gros proposes that we use the same laser propulsion system to send a 1.5-ton spacecraft at slower speeds so we can do more than just take pictures. He wants to achieve a stable exoplanet orbit and seed other worlds with life via onboard “mini labs” that would grow genes and cells. The stated objective is TRAPPIST-1, but other exoplanets, such as the recently discovered Ross 128b, are also under consideration.
The Long Haul
Gros’ hypothetical 1.5-ton spacecraft for seeding life would launch from Earth, and huge, Earth-based lasers directed at the probe’s 50-kilometer-wide (31-mile-wide) light sail would propel it to roughly 30 percent of the speed of light for part of its journey.
Unlike the tiny probe used for the Alpha Centauri mission, Gros’ spacecraft would need to be able to stop once it reached its destination, though, so he devised a way to do so using a magnetic sail that would generate friction with protons. This will allow the craft to decelerate en route, much like letting a car coast to full stop on the highway.
“The reason for the magnetic sail is to create a magnetic field without loss of energy,” Gros told Futurism. “You don’t want to expend energy, so you generate the field once, and then with a superconducting loop, the current stays forever, and the magnetic field stays forever.”
According to Gros, the magnetic sail would have a radius of roughly 50 kilometers (31 miles), and each of its loops would generate a magnetic field. These fields would shift the momentum of the probe to whatever particles it encountered. Essentially, the protons between the Earth and the probe’s destination would create the friction it needed to decelerate.
It may seem strange to imagine a giant probe being slowed down by something as small and insignificant as protons. Further complicating the situation is the fact that scientists suspect that remnants of ancient supernovae may have swept gasses out of the space surrounding our solar system and those near it, thereby lowering the density of matter.
However, Gros explained that even with that lower concentration of matter, his design could provide the necessary friction to slow the hypothetical spacecraft enough to orbit, and not flyby, an exoplanet. “You can brake via friction from the interstellar medium,” he said.
The catch is that the added mass needed to provide deceleration puts a 12,000-year timeframe on his proposed journey to TRAPPIST-1. On a cosmic scale, that isn’t even a blink of an eye, but since humans rarely live past 100, no one alive now would survive to see our probe for seeding life reach its destination.
A New Kind of Earth
Recently, scientists have begun to theorize that the growing number of exoplanets discovered orbiting red dwarfs could have water and oxygen. These planets hadmuch longer periods of atmospheric cooling than the Earth had, which could have prevented life from forming on them back when it first emerged on Earth.
“It took the Sun 10 million years to cool to about today’s temperature, but small stars, like TRAPPIST-1, remained hot for hundreds of millions of years,” Gros said.
Consequently, he explained, the water vapor within the stratosphere of the TRAPPIST-1 planets was dissociated by the ultraviolet radiation of the host star into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen escapes into space, as it is too light to be retained by an Earth-like planet, and the oxygen left behind accumulates.
“If some of the seven TRAPPIST-1 planets still have an ocean, they would also have a massive oxygen atmosphere. Earth’s oxygen pressure is 0.2 bars, but on TRAPPIST-1-like planets, it could be 100 bar or more,” said Gros.
This excess oxygen “eats up” biotic life, preventing protocell formation. Complex eukaryotes, which form the basis for present-day multi-cellular life, would never have had a chance to develop on an “oxygen planet.”
“We could have millions or billions of habitable exoplanets, but sterilized by oxygen from the beginning,” said Gros. Consequently, the common objection that we should avoid interfering with the natural evolution of alien life would fall away — we wouldn’t be interfering with anything.
The cosmic garden may await us, but the long transit time proposed by Gros may dissuade some from taking his seeding life project seriously. Even after the probe reached its destination, any life would take many billions of years to mature, Gros said.
Gros’ initiative for seeding life throughout the cosmos, dubbed the Genesis Project, forces us to step back and take a look at what we’re doing on Earth.
“If you are rational, you cannot argue a longterm project will have use on Earth, because no one will be around,” Gros said.
To Gros, his hypothetical mission ultimately forces humanity to consider a metaethical question. The most natural ethical system for our species is one that places us in the center, and that’s largely how we live. But do we need to follow this imperative 100 percent of the time? Gros doesn’t think so.
“An ethical system which is 99 percent humanity-centered is enough to build a thriving civilization, with the remaining 1 percent allowing us to pursue ‘non-rational’ projects like the Genesis project,” he told Futurism.
Triangular TR-3B is said to have been created by the US military but subsequently hidden from the public.
So-called truthers believe it was designed at military base Area 51 in the 1970s, while others claim they are flown by aliens visiting Earth.
Now they believe they have found the mysterious object at a national park in Australia, Express.co.uk reports.
A triangular formation is pictured on Google Earth between Badgingarra National Park and Wongonderrah Nature Reserve in western Australia.

COVER-UP? So-called truthers believe the TR-3B was designed at military base Area 51

UFO hunter Mike Zeroh said on YouTube: “We have no idea what it’s doing in Australia but I fully believe it’s real footage and not a hoax and could be military aircraft or something from another planet perhaps.”
Others claim the triangle formation is no longer showing up and claim there is a cover-up.
One Google Map user posted: “The mysterious triangle was hidden from Google Maps? I am discovering many things…no use trying to hide the evidence.”
However, others believe it merely forms part of a nearby remote-controlled wind farm.
The "TR-3B" can be found at coordinates 30°30'38.44"S 115°22'56.03"E one Google Earth.
It appears as a large triangle with bright lights evenly placed around it, in the same way the TR-3B is said to have.

Some conspiracy theorists have even said the triangle no longer shows up amid claims of a cover up.
One Google map user accused the platform of trying to “hide” the spot where the suspected UFO used to appear.

However, there is likely to be a less spooky explanation for the shape.
An Australian man has come across a rather strange image while searching for an address on Google Maps.
Dean Stocks, from Darwin, was searching for a location in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory when he saw what appeared to be a UFO on the digital map.
Speaking to the NT News, Mr Stocks said he couldn't believe it.
A Darwin man has come across a rather strange image while searching for an address on Google Maps, spotting what appears to be a UFO (pictured)
'I don't believe I've seen a sky boob before but I've read about them in picture magazines,' he said.
'I know all the conspirators will have their say – it will be a reflection of the Tennant Creek watertank or something like that.'
At closer inspection, the image does bear striking similarity to an alien spacecraft.

However, it could also be a flash of light from the Google Maps camera or, as Mr Stocks suggested, a reflection of a nearby watertank.
Darwin astronomer Geoff Carr told the publication the image was likely photoshopped.
Meanwhile, Mr Stocks said he would be traveling to Tennant Creek in a few weeks and would make a point of driving down Ambrose Street, the sight of the UFO image, to inspect the area for himself.

Have you ever seen a strange light appear in the sky and wondered if it was an alien craft?
Now you can work out if someone else saw the same thing – or if the bizarre sighting was the product of your fevered imagination.
A website called UFO Stalker has collected together all the weird observations reported to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), an American organisation that investigates strange sightings in the sky.
Its figures reveal that a total of 83,715 sightings have been reported this year alone across the world, a 12 per cent increase on the number of sightings in 2016.
Last month in the UK, there were a total of seven UFO observations.

On 15 November, one person claimed to have seen a UFO over Aberdeen.
They said: ‘Standing at my kitchen window I noticed a very bright red and white light flashing every two seconds.
‘I instantly knew this was not a passenger plane or helicopter.
‘The object itself was travelling directly north. It just looked like a medium brightness star but had an intensely bright white and red light. The white light was stacked on top of the red light and they would pulse on and off every two seconds.’
In Thornaby, Yorkshire, another person spotted a mysterious object on November 8 and wrote: ‘I went out into my front garden for a cigarette with my husband and looked up at the clouds.
This photo of a flying saucer was taken by Paul Trent over his farm, in McMinnville, Oregon.
‘Above the houses across the street, I noticed a very bright, white, intermittent trail and when following the trail to the right noticed a small white glowing spot (orb?) moving in front of the clouds.
‘I told my husband to look at it but the trail had disappeared and he wasn’t able to see the orb before it disappeared; I’m not certain whether it went into the clouds or just disappeared.’
The person who saw the UFO did not confirm whether anything a little stronger than tobacco was placed in the cigarette ahead of this sighting.
The majority of UFO sightings were reported in the US, with 26 sightings taking place during November.
On November 20, one person was zooming through Nob Hill, Albuquerque, in their car when something suddenly appeared in the sky.
Sadly, UFO sightings are never quite as dramatic as this artist’s impression
Their report said: ‘ I turned down a side street and saw a triangle shaped craft with lights that went up the side of it.
‘It was illuminated so it formed a V-shape.
I stopped to pull over and look at it because I thought it was strange. Witnessed it for about 10 seconds before it was hidden behind a tree.
‘The airforce base is close by so I assumed it was a military aircraft but haven’t seen one like it before.
UFO experts claimed that the number of sightings has increased in recent years.
However, this could be blamed on the internet, which allows people to record their sightings but is also used to spread strange ideas and fake news.
Did aliens ever visit Stonehenge – or have the druids been eating too many funny mushrooms again?
Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline: ‘UFO Stalker is a brilliant visual guide to the location of UFO sightings, and shows the sheer scale of this phenomena over the last few years.
‘The downside of such a map is the quality of the sightings in its database, these should be carefully filtered if anyone really wants to establish geomagnetic or other links with UFO activity.
‘Clusters of sightings might, for example, be caused by increased media activity in an area, or a bright meteor or other mundane phenomena could also trigger a wave of UFO sightings.
‘Nonetheless, this is a handy way of presenting UFO data and is very helpful in helping pin down the weird things seen in our skies.’
A series of real-life reported UFO sightings in Britain near an air base used by the U.S. Air Force will be the basis of a new drama series, “Rendlesham.”
London-based producer Eleventh Hour Film will make the series and Sony’s international TV production arm has come on board. The studio is backing the development of the project and will handle international distribution. There is not yet a broadcaster or platform attached.
Joe Ahearne (“Doctor Who”) will helm the show, which will recount the claimed UFO landings near the air base and Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, England, in the 1980s.
A complex family drama will form the backdrop to the series, which will also fast-forward from the height of the Cold War to 2020, the 40th anniversary of the incidents, which are fabled among UFO enthusiasts and have been dubbed “Britain’s Roswell.”
Ahearne said: “When Eleventh Hour Films drew my attention to this extraordinary piece of British and American history it pressed all my buttons, and I think it will do the same for a wide audience.”

Eridu, the first city on Earth before the great flood, according to the Sumerian King List
Eridu, the first city on Earth before the great flood, according to the Sumerian King List
According to the Sumerian King List Eridu was the first city in the World. The opening line reads:
“[nam]-lugal an-ta èd-dè-a-ba
[eri]duki nam-lugal-la”
“When kingship from heaven was lowered,
the kingship was in Eridu.”
Eridu (Coordinates: 30 ° 48’57.02 “N 45 ° 59’45.85” E) was an ancient city in southern Mesopotamia, 24 kilometers south of Ur in the current archaeological site of Tell Abu Shahrein. Eridu, also transliterated as Eridug, could mean “mighty place” or “guidance place” according to scholars who say this archaeological site is of great importance.
At its foundation, it was most likely within walking distance of the Persian Gulf; however, currently, due to the accumulation of silt at the shoreline over the millennia remains of Eridu are now some distance from the gulf at Abu Shahrain in Iraq.
Some scholars argue that in ancient Sumerian times Eridu was linked to the estuary by means of channels and according to the Babylonian epics, it was the first city created in the world.
As noted by Sumerian mythology, the ancient city of Eridu was ONE of the FIVE ancient cities built on Earth before the great deluge.
Eridu was the most southern city of the conglomerate of Mesopotamia and important center of the cult to the God of the water, Enki.
In July 2016, UNESCO chose the archaeological site of tell Eridu as a Mixed Heritage of Humanity, as “part of the archaeological remains of Sumerian settlements in Lower Mesopotamia, which flourished between the third and fourth millennia BC in the delta formed by the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.”
As noted by ancient Sumerian tradition, as well as the Sumerian King list, Eridu was the oldest of the cities of Mesopotamia, in whose location the god Marduk had created the world.
Archaeologists have proven, through research in the twentieth century, that the lower levels of the city (level XIX) date back to at least 4900 B.C., at the beginning of the El Obeid period. Mainstream scholars suggest the city was founded in the 54th century BC.
Egyptologist David Rohl has conjectured that Eridu, may have been the original Babel and site of the mythical Tower of Babel, rather than the later city of Babylon.
In this first stage, the ceramic remains show a significant role of Eridu in the region.
Towards 3800 BC (level VI) the city had an important temple and a cemetery from which a thousand graves have been discovered.
Towards the year 2500 BC., during the archaic dynastic, a ruler, perhaps of the first dynasty of Ur, built a great palace in Eridu, and at the end of the III millennium BC, during the reign of Amar-Sin, a large ziggurat was built in the city, which remained an important religious center in the empire of the third dynasty of Ur.
According to the Sumerian King list, the first ‘mythological’ kings, successors of the reign of heaven, are those of Eridu.
The king list continues:
In Eridu, Alulim became king; he ruled for 28800 years. Alalngar ruled for 36000 years. 2 kings; they ruled for 64800 years. Then Eridu fell and the kingship was taken to Bad-tibira.
The Sumerian King list describes in unprecedented detail a time when the world was governed by beings referred to as ‘Gods’ for thousands of years. This is one of the main reasons why mainstream scholars suggest that the Sumerian King list is a mixture of prehistorical and mythological accounts and that those rulers who lived through implausibly lengthy reigns were not real, and were part of ancient folklore.
Mainstream scholars see the age a ruler allegedly governed over the people as a reflection of his or her importance. The more years a king ruled, the more important he was. However, this is highly debated among many authors.
This ancient city was one of the most important settlements in ancient times, and the urban nucleus of Eridu was Enki’s temple, called House of the Aquifer.
After the kingship descended from heaven, the kingship was in Eridu.

Sumerian Tablets Reveal The Secrets Of Noahs Ark - Documentary
Recently, the hosts of the popular podcast show Stuff They Don't Want You To Know, Noel Brown, Ben Bowlin and Matt Frederick had invited well-known investigative movie-maker Jeremy Corbell in one of the episodes of the show.
Corbell, who is best known for making documentary movies about "extraordinary people with extraordinary beliefs", has so far worked on a range of topics, starting from aerospace exploration and nanotechnology to bizarre and inexplicable theories. For example, one of the various topics that Corbell had covered in the past is the deathbed confessions of ex-officials of the U.S. government, who have claimed to know the confidential information about UFOs and their cover-up stories.
In the enthralling episode with Jeremy Corbell, the hosts discussed alien abductions and the authenticity of such reports. To be precise, they asked Corbell whether, according to his experience and beliefs, extraterrestrials abduct human beings to implant alien objects into their bodies and if not, then where do those kinds of strange objects appear from into some people's body?
Corbell also talked about his new film "Patient 17" in the podcast. The director was asked to film a surgery by late Dr. Roger Leir, who was about to surgically remove a strange object from a patient's leg. Dr. Leir was a pediatric surgeon and an "alien implant specialist." Corbell was intrigued by the case and so he decided to record the surgery, which can be seen in this new film.
According to Corbell, what he saw that day in the surgery made him believe that no matter how bizarre it sounds but the reports of extraterrestrial abductions and implants most certainly need profound investigation.
According to the documentary, the mysterious object, which was removed from the Patient 17, was quite unfamiliar in terms of Earthly properties. Dr. Leir had sent it off to a laboratory in New Hampshire lab, where allegedly it was discovered that the object had iridium in it. Iridium is an element, which can only be found in meteorites. More shockingly, the object also appeared to release electromagnetic frequencies, which indicated towards the fact that it was some kind of a tracking apparatus.
The New Hampshire lab had conducted tests on the object by making use of isotopic analysis, informed Corbell, and that brought on another bombshell. It seemed that one of the most generously available element on Earth, isotope zinc-64, was not present in the object. As the element is supposed to be in every terrestrial object, didn't it mean that the object was, indeed, extraterrestrial? Actually, that might not be the case. Investigative journalist George Knapp, whom Corbell called to be his mentor, had asked the filmmaker to get the reports tested from numerous labs and verify it thoroughly.
However, Corbell also made it clear that his efforts to get a sample of that object have failed so far, so it's kind of impossible at this time to get the verification done. He also could not get his hands on any other object that Leir has surgically removed from other patients and claimed to be extraterrestrial.
The Ocumetics Bionic Lens essentially replaces a person's natural eye lens, given them the ability to see three times better than 20/20 vision. Though not yet available to the public, human trials are expected to begin on the lenses in July 2017.
A CLEAR PROBLEM
Most of us take our vision for granted. As a result, we take the ability to read, write, drive, and complete a multitude of other tasks for granted. However, unfortunately, sight is not so easy for everyone.
Cataracts account for about a third of these. The National Eye Institute reports that more than half of all Americans will have cataracts or will have had cataract surgery by the time they are 80, and in low- and middle-income countries, they’re the leading cause of blindness.
But now, people with vision problems may have new hope.
A WELCOME SIGHT
Soon, cataracts may be the thing of the past, and even better, it may be possible to see a staggering three times better than 20/20 vision. Oh, and you could do it all without wearing glasses or contacts.
So what exactly does having three times better vision mean? If you can currently read a text that is 10 feet away, you would be able to read the same text from 30 feet away. What’s more, people who currently can’t see properly might be able to see a lot better than the average person.
This development comes thanks to the Ocumetics Bionic Lens. This dynamic lens essentially replaces a person’s natural eye lens. It’s placed into the eye via a saline-filled syringe, after which it unravels itself in under 10 seconds.
It may sound painful, but Dr. Garth Webb, the optometrist who invented the Ocumetics Bionic Lens, says that the procedure is identical to cataract surgery and would take just about eight minutes. He adds that people who have the specialized lenses surgically inserted would never get cataracts and that the lenses feel natural and won’t cause headaches or eyestrain.
The Bionic Lens may sound like a fairy tale (or sci-fi dream), but it’s not. It is actually the end result of years and years of research and more than a little funding — so far, the lens has taken nearly a decade to develop and has cost US$3 million.
There is still some ways to go before you will be able to buy them, but if the timeline Webb offered in an interview with Eye Design Optometry holds up, human studies will begin in July 2017, and the bionic lenses will be available to the public in March 2018.

12 Possible Reasons We Haven't Found Aliens
12 Possible Reasons We Haven't Found Aliens
By Ross Pomeroy, RealClearScience
In 1950, a learned lunchtime conversation set the stage for decades of astronomical exploration. Physicist Enrico Fermi submitted to his colleagues around the table a couple contentions, summarized as 1) The galaxy is very old and very large, with hundreds of billions of stars and likely even more habitable planets. 2) That means there should be more than enough time for advanced civilizations to develop and flourish across the galaxy.
So where the heck are they?
This simple, yet powerful argument became known as the Fermi Paradox, and it still boggles many sage minds today. Aliens should be common, yet there is no convincing evidence that they exist.
(This assumes, of course, that humans count as intelligent.) Life may exist, but it could simply take the form of miniscule microbes or other cosmically "quiet" animals.
3. Intelligent species lack advanced technology.
Currently, astronomers utilize radio telescopes to listen intently to the night sky. So if alien species aren't broadcasting any signals, we'd never know they existed.
4. Intelligent life self-destructs.
Whether via weapons of mass destruction, planetary pollution, or manufactured virulent disease, it may be the nature of intelligent species to commit suicide, existing for only a short time before winking out of existence.
5. The universe is a deadly place.
On cosmic timescales – think billions of years – life may be fleeting. All it takes is a single asteroid, supernova, gamma ray burst, or solar flare to render a life-harboring planet lifeless.
6. Space is big.
The Milky Way alone is 100,000 light years across, so it's conceivable that the focused signals of intelligent aliens, which are limited to the speed of light, simply haven't reached us yet.
7. We haven't been looking long enough.
Eighty years. That's the amount of time that radio telescopes, which allow us to detect alien signals, have been around. And we've been actively searching for aliens for maybe sixty years. That's not very long at all.
8. We're not looking in the correct place.
As previously mentioned, space is big, so there are tons of regions to listen for alien signals. If we're not listening precisely in the direction from which a signal is originating, we'd never hear it. As Andrew Fain explained at Universe Today, it's like trying to speak with your friend on a 250,000,000,000-channel CB radio, without any knowledge of the frequency on which they are transmitting. You'll probably be channel flipping for a long time.
9. Alien technology may be too advanced.
Radio technology may be commonplace here on Earth, but on far-flung worlds, alien societies may have graduated to more advanced communication technologies, like neutrino signals. We can't decipher those just yet.
10. Nobody is transmitting.
Instead, everybody may be listening. That's basically how it is here on Earth. Apart from a few paltry efforts to broadcast strong signals over a narrow frequency band towards the stars above, we've barely made our presence known in the universe. In fact, if aliens have radio telescopes similar to what we have on Earth, our television and radio broadcasts would only be detectable up to 0.3 light-years away. That distance doesn't even transcend the farthest reaches of our solar system.
11. Earth is deliberately not being contacted.
On Earth, we have policies about contacting indigenous peoples; it's possible that the same thing could be happening with us. Just like in Star Trek, advanced alien societies may enforce rules that limit contact only to species that attain a lofty degree of technological or cultural evolution.
12. Aliens are already here and we just don't realize it.
Conspiracy theorists love this unlikely explanation. While the chances are remote, it's not impossible that government agencies are concealing the presence of aliens. Although it's more likely that aliens are already amongst us, observing humanity in the clever and ironic guise of lab mice.

WHY UFO INVESTIGATORS IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS AND CRITICS FROM ESTABLISHED SCIENCE
WHY UFO INVESTIGATORS IGNORE THE NAYSAYER WHY UFO INVESTIGATORS IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS AND CRITICS FROM ESTABLISHED SCIENCES AND CRITICS FROM ESTABLISHED SCIENCE
The phenomena of UFO abductions is familiar to everyone—even if the experience of one has only ever been secondhand at best. But the ubiquitous perception may be largely inaccurate, stemming from the likes of hackneyed depictions in sci-fi films and clickbait fabrications on the internet. That’s unacceptable to the small but dedicated group of individuals who have pledged their lives to solving this mystery. “I continue my research no matter what, and nothing’s going to stop me, nor will it stop others in the field,” says Denise Stoner, one of the world’s leading authorities on UFO abduction reports and a member of the Mutual UFO Network’s (MUFON) Experiencer Research Team. Experts in the field know that the truth about abductions, whatever it may be, lies within the reports from thousands of people in dozens of countries.
For more than half a century, Americans have reported experiencing UFOs in an up close and personal way that alters their lives forever. In 1961, a media frenzy occurred when Barney and Betty Hill described the night a UFO containing several humanoids hovered directly above their Chevy Bel Air on a rural New Hampshire road. The couple claimed the rest of their drive was a hazy state of altered consciousness, but Betty’s inexplicably stained dress and Barney’s mysteriously scuffed shoes served as mementos of the experience. Another landmark case occurred in 1975, boasting the benefit of witnesses. During a logging job in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona, Travis Walton was struck by a beam from a mysterious craft as his crew looked on. He would disappear for five days until resurfacing some 30 miles away at a gas station—all while his crewmates proved their innocence in the matter by passing polygraph tests. Both cases, which only represent the tip of the iceberg concerning UFO abduction reports, remain a mystery to UFO researchers.

Some details may differ slightly from account to account, but the fundamental elements are intact in every encounter, fueling validation for both abductees and researchers. “All accounts are essentially the same,” says Dr. David M. Jacobs, author of books such as Secret Life: Firsthand Documented Accounts of UFO Abductions and Walking Among Us. Speaking from decades of experience in the field, Jacobs feels the common ground spanning the litany of cases gives considerable weight to each new report.
While Denise Stoner investigates many local reports for MUFON within Florida, where she resides, Jacobs’s experience informs his insistence that UFO abductions occur worldwide. “It is a global phenomenon,” he states. “It has nothing to do with the United States. We do not know if we are the center of UFO abduction activity.” One of the earliest UFO abductions on record supports Jacobs’ claim. The case of Brazilian farmer Antonio Villas Boas in 1957 has withstood even the most liberal application of UFOlogist scrutiny thanks to the intricate details provided by the abductee and the ceaseless physical ailments (including painful lesions) he suffered following the incident. Jacobs is certain the phenomenon has spread across the globe since then, noting that he has worked with abductees from nearly every continent—and they have all reported many of the exact same details. “That’s extraordinary,” he says. “That has never happened before in human history, where people will be saying, ‘This happened to me,’ and they’ll describe the exact same instruments used and the same procedures involved, and everything else is the same as everyone around the world is describing. Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, all saying the same thing, all knowing full well that it sounds crazy.”
Of course, researchers still do their due diligence to devote investigations to only the most credible of accounts. Any time an individual reports being abducted by a UFO, researchers first attempt to rule out mental illness as a cause. “When we first speak to an individual, we want to spend as much time as possible with them to discover whether or not they have ever had a diagnosis that includes mental issues, what kind of medication they’re on,” says Stoner. “There are several reasons for people to have these types of experiences, and we need to eliminate those when we’re doing an investigation.”
For the majority of his career researching UFO abductions, Jacobs has sought to root out any inconsistencies by conducting hypnotic regressions with abductees. Recognizing the skepticism surrounding a process that seeks to acquire information from hypnosis, he says, “It’s so ridiculous, and yet it works.” Jacobs explains that because the process spans over several sessions, trust is organically built between researcher and experiencer. “They don’t want to tell me things that didn’t happen,” he adds.
As Jacobs learned the first time he conducted a series of hypnotic regressions with an alleged abductee, though, the truth can be elusive, even if the subject isn’t trying to withhold it. He recalls working with a 7-year-old girl who claimed she was with a friend in the park when she felt arms wrap around her waist as she was suddenly pulled from the ground up into something. Now in an unknown setting, the girl noted seeing a humanoid with a pageboy haircut named Cosmo, who proceeded to place her on a table for a physical examination. Claiming she was then instructed to place her hand on the head of an extraterrestrial, the girl described feeling immense positivity and warmth. Before being returned to the park by Cosmo, the girl stated she met a group of extraterrestrials sitting at a table who told her she would live a “brave, courageous strong, wonderful life.” Ecstatic by what he had extracted from the hypnosis, Jacobs went to transcribe the story from his tape recorder that night, only to find that the girl’s mostly whispered words had not been picked up. Determined to capture the incredible descriptions, Jacobs had the girl retell the experience in a later session. She obliged, and the initial beats were consistent—the hands around the waist, the pageboy-haired Cosmo figure, the physical exam—only this time, there was no mention of placing her hand on the being’s head or receiving the affirming words from the table of extraterrestrials. Jacobs prodded for the missing pieces, but the young abductee claimed she didn’t remember those aspects and said she thought those things happened to the friend she was with at the time. “I knew at that time that I had no idea what I was doing, and I vowed I was never going to let that happen again,” Jacobs says.
As with any skilled trade, such as performing brain surgery or writing computer code, experience is the way to limit the frequency of errors in researching UFO abductions. The greatest mistake someone in the field can make, it seems, is allowing themselves to be abducted by the blinding beam of naysaying critics. But Jacobs and Stoner are both far from ignoring their decades of research in favor of believing only what accepted science is able to explain.
Stoner points to some skeptics dismissively chalking abductions up to mere dreams as an example she feels is easily countered by her research. “We’ve had many, many abductions that took place in broad daylight. And if you’re in broad daylight, and you’re driving or walking and this happens, you don’t have those excuses to give,” she says. “You don’t have people saying ‘Okay, you were dreaming, you were asleep, you were this or that.’ It happened, and there’s no way that anyone can tell you it didn’t.”
For Jacobs, the uncanny commonalities across reports stand as the reason for continuing research. “We know the abduction phenomenon is considered to be completely psychological by 99.9 percent of all psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.,” he says. “Except, of course, by those psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors and university professors who are themselves abductees and say the same things as the kid in Pakistan.”
An image taken by NASA's Opportunity rover on Mars in 2005, but widely circulated and discussed in 2017.
(NASA)
Since NASA started publishing video and images of the Martian surface from its two Mars rovers in 2003, vigilant observers have been pointing out strange objects. Those objects are, depending on whom you ask, either (1) remnants of an alien civilization on Mars, (2) natural formations, or (3) human-made debris from the rovers themselves.
An internet debate flared up around a photo taken by the Opportunity rover showing an object that is clearly unnatural.
This summer, a Redditor sparked an internet debate about a photo taken by the Opportunity rover showing an object that is clearly unnatural, precluding the “natural formation” explanation. The Reddit post stated “Uh NASA? UFO caught on Marsrover mission? Is this real?”
Guy Webster, a media relations officer for NASA, said via email: “That is part of the Opportunity’s heat shield, photographed by NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity in mid-January 2005.” Opportunity was passing through its own landing site at the time. According to NASA, the object in the photo is the heat shield that protected the rover upon entry.
Other objects have been spotted and similarly dismissed.
An impression called a “Celtic cross” by some observers has also been spotted on Mars. It is explained by “debunker” Mick West as the impression left in the soil by a screw on one of Opportunity’s instruments.
West compared the rover image to the shape of a screw head on the rover’s x-ray spectrometer, saying it was likely this tool that left the imprint. The device works by touching down on the surface and staying there for a few hours to measure chemical elements in rock and soil.
A rock that looks like a handle or knob has been spotted on Mars.
In 2013, an image taken by the Curiosity rover sparked debate. It showed what some described as a shiny, metallic “handle” protruding from the surface of Mars.
Ronald Sletten from the Mars Science Laboratory team told Universe Today it is likely a rock that is more resistant to erosion that the rock around it. As the surrounding rock has weathered away, this rock has been left as a protrusion. Sletten told Universe Today: “The shiny surface suggests that this rock has a fine grain and is relatively hard. Hard, fine grained rocks can be polished by the wind to form very smooth surfaces.”

Scandinavian mythology claims the Kraken swallowed up whales and devoured ships. It has been described as a huge version of an octopus or squid. Legends have even claimed the terrifying sea creature measured one-mile long. Although the Kraken was first noted in the 13th century Icelandic saga, Örvar-Oddr, a researcher believes he has fossil evidence that is linked to this creature.
Initially found in 2011, fossils of a marine lizard showed a strange pattern which a researcher believes was caused by a Kraken-like octopus. The claim has been criticized, but Professor Mark McMenamin, a paleontologist at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, backed up this conclusion with other findings.
An odd arrangement of sea reptile vertebrae was found in Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park in Nevada. The animal was called an ichthyosaur and it lived around 200 to 250 million years ago. The manner in which the bones were found suggests that it was attacked by a much larger predator—perhaps supporting the hypothesis that a giant octopus or squid once dominated the seas. It has been estimated the creature which vanquished the ichthyosaur had to have been about 99 feet (30 meters) long; this far surpasses the largest giant octopus known today—a creature rarely larger than a human being.
The discovery of a fossil identified as part of the beak of a giant octopus or squid-like creature, along with more bones arranged in unusual patterns which have sucker markings, adds to McMenamin’s evidence. A “debris pile” of scattered bones were also found alongside the remains of the ichthyosaur.
McMenamin asserts that the bones’ arrangement and the location of the sucker markings indicate the ichthyosaur was drowned or had its neck snapped. From there, it seems the beast was moved, possibly to the Kraken’s lair, where it was dumped.
Could this discovery really point to the existence of the legendary Kraken? While the idea is interesting, further evidence is necessary.

A giant gel ball found by diver Erling Svensen in Norway.
(Erling Svensen)
Over the past 15 years or so, several giant gel balls have been found by divers off the coast of Norway. The balls, about 3 feet (1 meter) wide, remain a mystery to scientists. But the number of ball sightings has been increasing.
Professor Gro van der Meeren at the Institute of Marine Research in Nordnes, Norway, is one of the lead researchers trying to gather more information about the balls. Due to recent attention in local media, van der Meeren has received more photos of the balls from divers.
“Thanks to the media sharing our puzzlement over what these gel balls may be, we have now received observations within Norway of close to 20 of these balls, half of the observations within 2017 and all between May and October,” she said via email. “Unfortunately, no one has sent us actual tissue samples.”
The best guess is that it’s a giant squid egg, but there are problems with that theory.
DNA tests could be the key to understanding what they are. Van der Meeren hypothesizes that they are squid eggs, since they look similar to squid eggs, but she is not certain and scientists haven’t agreed on this hypothesis. The balls are big for squid eggs. Giant squids live deep in the ocean, whereas these balls have been found along the coast.
It is hard to identify what kind of squid could have left such balls. Van der Meeren said she would need tissue samples to compare to known DNA-profiles of European squids.
A hypothesis that’s floated around Internet forums is that they’re alien eggs.
Two similar balls have been observed off the coast of Sweden and Alaska respectively. Anyone who sees such a ball should obtain a tissue sample if possible and contact van der Meeren: grom@imr.no.

Tijdreizen is zeker mogelijk. Professor laat zien hoe je naar de toekomst kunt gaan
Tijdreizen is zeker mogelijk.
Let’s face it, there have been conspiracy theories around for as long as we have had anything to conspire about. Such ideas have run the gamut from the plausible to the actually true, to the farthest reaches of eyebrow raising insanity. It is an interesting enough phenomenon in its own right that some of the most mind-bogglingly odd theories should catch on and coalesce into the minds of the masses, but some of these really take the cake with regards to sheer, flat out bizarreness. Some of the stranger of these concern evil plots by the the government or even more mysterious forces to infiltrate society and bring the world under control. From nefarious aliens, to secret mind control projects, to vat-grown clones and even supernatural creatures, there seems to be no end to the types of conspiracies that crop up. Here we will look at some of the more surreal, so leave your tinfoil hats at the door, forget about things such as evidence or even common sense, and come with me on a journey down the rabbit hole.
The most well-known, pervasive, and flat out bonkers conspiracy theory involving sinister forces invading the United States government is that of all of the alien lizard people who seem to be running around. The theory in essence says that there is a race of shapeshifting, reptilian humanoid creatures that are variously said to be aliens or inter-dimensional beings and which are said to be bent on controlling and subjugating humanity through various insidious means, mostly through infiltrating high level positions ranging from the government, to important corporations, to the entertainment industry. The lizard people have been blamed by conspiracists for everything from major wars, to the Holocaust, to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, to, well, just about every tragic calamity we have faced for centuries.
Although the idea of secret societies lurking in the background secretly controlling civilization is by no means a new one, the idea that these forces should be reptilian lizard people was first popularized by former game show host and sports reporter for the BBC and now conspiracy theorist and New Age philosopher David Icke. In 1991, Icke came out with his complex theory in a BBC interview after percolating and brewing these ideas in his head for years, proclaiming that people in high positions of power or wealth were not who they seemed to be, but rather the lizard people taking human form.
According to Icke, it started with a group of aliens he called the Annunaki, from the planet Niburu, and arrived on Earth looking for gold, of all things. In order to mine the gold they found here they genetically engineered human-Annunaki hybrid slaves, which became humans, but some of them further interbred with their masters to become the lizard people. The creatures who were able to preserve a purer reptilian bloodline then rose to power and proceeded to subjugate the rest, instigate wars, feed us poison to keep us compliant, hypnotize us, enact methods to depopulate the planet, and generally manipulate humanity in any way possible, wary of the fact that since humans outnumbered them they could never last in an all out war with us and thus forcing them to work behind the scenes.
The list of people who have been accused of being lizard people is quite vast and fascinating. Among their numbers have been said to be such notable figures as Queen Elizabeth II, George W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Bob Hope, Mark Zuckerberg, and Justin Beiber, among many, many others. Some of these powerful figures and celebrities have had a bit of a sense of humor about the accusations. For instance, in 2014 New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, who was so suspected of being a lizard person to the point that there was an Official Information Act request filed for the truth, gamely responded to the question of whether he was a reptilian alien thus:
To the best of my knowledge, no. Having been asked that question directly, I’ve taken the unusual step of not only seeing a doctor but a vet, and both have confirmed I’m not a reptile. So I’m certainly not a reptile. I’ve never been in a spaceship, never been in outer space, and my tongue’s not overly long, either.
Then again, that is what he would say, isn’t it? It is perhaps no surprise that many have scoffed at this idea and labelled Icke as a nutcase, but what is surprising is just how quickly these ideas have entrenched themselves and festered within portions of the conspiracy theorist community. Icke has become a sort of hero and savior among this new movement of reptilian conspiracy theorists, and he has gone on to churn out numerous books on the matter, including The Biggest Secret, in which it is revealed that the British Royal family is absolutely crawling with lizard people, as well as the David Icke Guide to the Global Conspiracy, and there are numerous websites devoted to these ideas, which truly take the whole mythology down the rabbit whole and are at times rather perversely believable in their own way to an extent. Perhaps because of this, unbelievably, nearly 13 million American people, or about 4% of the population, truly believe that there are shapeshifting lizard people among us trying to shape us and control us.
If secretive, shadowy plots involving lizard people from outer space are not bizarre enough for you, then how about government created brainwashed servants and clones? Bear with me here, because this one goes deep. The whole theory starts with the dark experiments of the government project MKULTRA, which sought to explore mind controlling techniques and which I have covered here at Mysterious Universe before. Although the program was eventually disbanded, there are those who think that that didn’t really happen at all, and that the experiments continued and the technology was further perfected.
The theory goes that the project changed its name to “Monarch,” and went abut conditioning young children through various mental and physical trauma to become virtual blank slates onto which could be programmed pretty much anything the government wanted. These subjects then have identities that are carefully nurtured to make them seem to be powerful figures in society, but in reality they are actually ticking time bombs, sleeper agents waiting to be activated. The theory can most often supposedly be seen in stars or officials who have meltdowns that are explained away as not personal issues, but rather glitches in their programming, and their “rehab” is merely them being taken in to be reprogrammed.
The theory is particularly aimed at those in the entertainment industry, where the list of supposed MKULTRA mind-controlled puppets is long. Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and many, many others have been accused of being mind-controlled operatives, mostly based on their noticeable personality and fashion changes from their younger days. On occasion, it is not a famous person, but rather a normal person brainwashed into committing atrocities, such as is the case with John Lennon’s assassin. What, what?
On December 8, 1980, assassin and overall whacko Mark Chapman ruthlessly shot the beloved singer to death outside of Lennon’s apartment. Chapman would go on to allegedly claim that he had been urged to commit the crime by an incessant voice droning on in his head over and over again “do it.” This was only three years after the official closure of MKULTRA, so conspiracy theorists immediately jumped on the case. Evidence presented for this far-out theory was that Chapman had held a copy of the J.D. Salinger novel Catcher in the Rye, onto which was scrawled “This is my statement.” What does this book have to do with any of this? Glad you asked.
The book has oddly been linked to a variety of assassinations and shootings, including John Hinckley Jr., who killed former U.S. president Ronald Reagan, as well as Robert John Bardo, who assassinated the upcoming actress Rebecca Schaeffer, both of whom had copies of Catcher in the Rye. It’s a well-known, popular book, so it should make sense that many people would have it, but no, the conspiracy theory is that it held certain codes and keys for mind control to those who were conditioned to it. In this theory, Chapman was more or less a “Manchurian Candidate” style mind-controlled assassin, just waiting for his orders to kill, and with the book having some inscrutable part to play in it all.
John Lennon
Well, maybe not everyone here is mind-controlled, maybe they are just cloned from scratch instead. One theory that has made the rounds is that the U.S. government has perfected cloning technology, and has used this to resurrect dead people of power or, more ominously, to replace them. Many of these wild theories can be traced back to the testimony of an individual named Donald Marshall, who in 2011 came forward with an amazing story of having been born and brought up under a secret cloning facility run by an organization he called “The Vril Society.” Marshall claimed that he himself was a clone, and that such secretive cloning centers were buried all over the country. According to him, this all started just after World War II, and the clones bred there were meant to be used for a wide variety of purposes, such as entertainment, infiltration, and back-ups for rich organ donors, and Marshall would claim:
The political people started bringing movie stars and musicians there to hang around with them, they can control who remembers the cloning facility and who will remain oblivious even though not remembering still damages you.
Marshall continued this astounding story with the claim that the Queen of England and indeed much of the royal family and other were in fact clones, and said of this in one of his rants:
The royal family of England,… yes Queen Elizabeth, Phillip Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles are the worst of them, unbelievable depraved perverts all showing off for the celebrities that go there, Elizabeth has the children there call her “lillibet” and does ungodly things to them, some she fakes being nice to, some she is terrible to, cutting them with swords while they scream, the decent people that are there against their will are afraid to say anything against them, most have their children there as a kind of hostage, to be torn apart if they even think of informing anyone, but as they have been torturing me terribly anyway I will tell all, Vladamir Putin loves to put the fear of torture and death into people but is essentially a cowardly pervert himself. Most of the famous people are ashamed to speak or be seen by me there very much,as they’re ashamed of the perverse and disgusting gatherings, I am a decent person and will not participate in these acts, so they use me as an example and torture me for my being a good person.
Queen Elizabeth II
Wow. No word on what the reptilian lizard men theorists think about all of this. This all launches into the list of people who those who subscribe to this theory think of as cloned goons. Britney Spears pops up here again, as she was in a horrific car accident in 1998 with then boyfriend Justin Timberlake, which supposedly burned Timberlake and killed Spears, after which she was cloned. Marshall himself would go so far as to claim that the cloned Spears was giving hints in her music, with the pods featured in the animated video of her song “Break the Ice” claimed to look exactly like the cloning pods at the facility. Other famous supposed clones include the rappers Eminem, Gucci Mane, and Kayne West, as well the singers Miley Cyrus and of course Britney Spears (wait, I thought she was a mind-controlled puppet!), as well as even Hillary Clinton. You can’t make this stuff up.
Perhaps even more bizarre and insidious than reptilians and clones infiltrating society is the idea that the U.S. government is crawling with fairy folk. As completely off-the-wall as this might sound, there are those out there who think so. One group of New Agers calling themselves “The Fairy Congress,” who believe in fairies and claim to regularly commune with them, truly seems to believe that the American government is infested with these magical entities. One statement on the group’s website claims:
The humans are vastly outnumbered at the Congress by the fairies, devas and other Light beings who are in attendance. How many fairies and devas attend? We are assured it is in the thousands. Fairies and devas of many ranks and sizes attend. Some are similar in size to the small ‘hand-size’ fairies we see represented in the common press. Others are immense beings of great power. Remember though, that size is not necessarily an indicator of knowledge, wisdom or power. The fairy beings who attend the Fairy Congress are fully as intelligent (and often much more so) than the human participants. We approach the fairies and devas with respect and love as co-creators of this event. We are meeting as equal participants. The fairies and devas have a concurrent Congress as well as interacting with the human participants during circles and joint meditations. … It is a rare event for humans to experience so much fairy energy and such an outpouring of fairy/devic blessings.
Well, it seems that size really doesn’t matter after all. This is all just scratching the surface, and these bizarre theories all go much deeper than this, but here has been an overview of some of the odder ideas out there. There is a lot to take in with all of this and it is often hard to know what to think. I certainly have no desire to disrespect those who fully believe such ideas, but these are certainly confusing, often contradictory opinions which go far towards profoundly pushing the boundaries of what we know with little in the way of convincing evidence. The title of “insane theories” might shift with more to show otherwise, but for now these can undeniably be classified as fringe to say the least. Or maybe we are all wrong. Maybe we are overrun with clones, fairies, and reptilian humanoids bent on our downfall. Perhaps even I am one. You never can tell.
