Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 26 2004, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Blue Grass; visitation is 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 25 2004, at St. Andrew's, with a rosary recited at 5 p.m. Additional visitation is one hour prior to the service.
BLUE GRASS, Iowa - Anne E. Wegener, 79, Blue Grass, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island, Ill.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 26, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Blue Grass. Services are under the direction of the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.
The Rev. Joe Rogers will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by
organist Dorothy Spiess.
Casket bearers are Jonah Ewers, Jason Wegener, Joshua Wegener,
Ian Ewers, Brett Harlan and Luke Wegener. Honorary casket
bearers are Gabe Ewers, Jess Ewers, Jacob Ewers, Seth Ewers and Kalvin Flenker.
Burial will be in the Walcott Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 25, at St. Andrew's, with a rosary recited at 5 p.m. Additional visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may go to the church.
Anne E. Depoorter was born Nov. 14, 1924, to Joseph and Julia
VandenBussche Depoorter in Moline, Ill. She married Nyle F. Wegener April 3, 1948, in East Moline, Ill.
She was employed as a rural mail carrier at the Walcott Post Office for 18
years, retiring in 1988. Earlier, she worked at International Harvester,
Rock Island, Ill. and drove school bus for the Walcott School.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Blue Grass, Mary's Angels and the Rural Mail Carriers Association. Her greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo and was her family's historian.
Survivors include her Husband, Nyle Wegener of Blue Grass; four daughters, Cindy and Mike Ewers of DeWitt, Candy and Ron Harlan of Davenport, Connie and Larry Ewers of Blue Grass, Corrine and Kevin Flenker of Long Grove; two sons, Chris and Pam Wegener of Walcott and Cary Wegener of Blue Grass; seven sisters, Marie Ratto of Stockton, Ca., Margaret Kochuyt of
Victor, Ia., Dorothy Saelens of Moline, Ill., Rose and Lee Glaudel of Rock
Island, Ill., Betty and Larry Shumaker of Coal Valley, Ill., Julia and Bob
DeBlaey of Rapids City, Ill., Theresa and Doug Wilson of Durant; two
brothers, Joe Depoorter of East Moline, Ill., Bob and Nancy Depoorter of
Moline, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents' two sisters, Toni Smith and Clara
Jackson and two brothers, George Depoorter and Lawrence Depoorter
