Police believe the man was shot on the Westbury Estate

A man in his 20s has been killed in a shooting in south London.

Medical staff at a hospital called police at about 02:30 BST after the victim came in with a gunshot injury and later died, the Metropolitan Police said.

The force said he had been dropped off at the hospital in a car.

Investigators believe the man was shot in St Rule Street on the Westbury Estate, Lambeth.

No arrests have been made and a crime scene remains in place as detectives carry out inquiries.

The victim's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Det Insp Martin Thorpe from the Met's specialist crime team said: "A young man has lost his life and his family desperately want answers.

"Your information could be a critical part of our investigation. If you were in the area around the time of this incident, or have doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage that may have captured events, please get in touch with police at the earliest opportunity."
