Alcohol abuse 'costs £27bn' and 'King's fighting spirit'

The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Express feature pictures of the King attending a gala performance at the Royal Opera House.

The Express combines the image with the news that the monarch will lead tributes in France to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The commemorations next month will be his first overseas trip since his cancer diagnosis. In its leader column, the paper says the announcement will "bring great cheer to everyone who has wished Charles well".

Events surrounding the 80th anniversary of D-Day have caused a stir for visitors to one town in Normandy. The Sun reports bunting stretching through the streets of Carentan does not include the Union flag. A member of the local tourism board has suggested the snub is because of Brexit. A town hall spokeswoman said it was not known where the bunting came from. Channeling Sir Winston Churchill, the Sun suggests its a case of "slight them on the beaches".
