Derry have now received fines of over €3,500 this season for the use of pyrotechnics at away games

Derry City have been fined €2,500 for fans' use of pyrotechnics in their recent away game against Bohemians.

A young supporter received burn injuries as a result of the flares being lit in the stand during the League of Ireland game which Derry lost 2-1.

The club have now received fines totalling over €3,500 this season for the use of pyrotechnics.

They were also fined €1,000 for the use of flares against Sligo in February.

In a statement published on the club website, Derry said that the use of pyrotechnics was "a major safety issue" that is of "ongoing concern to the club."

"There is also a strong possibility of a ban on our supporters travelling to away games if there are anymore reported pyrotechnic offences this season," the statement continued.

"These fines are unsustainable for our club and eats into our finances, which cannot be tolerated going forward and the safety of our supporters is of paramount concern."
