A nine-year-old boy whose death in a road collision prompted a murder inquiry was a "little angel", his family has said.

Zac Roe, from Andover, Hampshire, died on the A354 at East Woodyates, Dorset, on Monday.

The woman driving him, aged in her 30s and from Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

She has been de-arrested for that offence and has been bailed over an alleged driving offence, police said.

Police said they were called to the fatal collision at 17:21 GMT and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash involved the pair's Citreon DS9, a Ford Transit van and a DAF cattle transporter truck and trailer, officers previously said.

Paying tribute, Zac's father Josh Roe said: "Words cannot describe the pain I'm feeling.

"My heart is broken. You are my little angel. I love you more than anything in this world, you are my best buddy."

Zac's grandfather Chris Roe said: "Zac, there are just no words to find. I just want to thank you for the wonderful and fun-filled memories we shared on your short journey of your life.

"Your smile and laughter still echoes around my and everyone's heart. Sweet dreams our little angel."

Det Ch Insp Neil Third said: "Our thoughts continue to remain with all those affected by the sad death of Zac Roe.

"An investigation is ongoing with detailed inquiries being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened."
