Southend crash: Serious injuries in car and lawnmowers collision

Two people have been seriously injured in a crash involving three ride-on lawnmowers and a car.
Essex Police were called to Royal Artillery Way, Southend, at 07:40 GMT to reports of the crash.
Southend-on-Sea City Council said the incident involved two members of its parks team.
A man, 24, from Benfleet has been held on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The road remained closed in both directions as detectives investigated the circumstances of the incident.
"[The collision involved] four vehicles, including one car and three ride-on lawnmowers," a police spokesperson said.
One person was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital and another was taken by land ambulance to Southend Hospital.
The council thanked the emergency services for their swift response.
"Our thoughts at this time are with our colleagues and others involved," a spokesperson said.
"Their families and colleagues have been notified and we are in close contact with them."
