A 81-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving his classic car in Argyll and Bute.

Emergency services were called to the A815 in Dunoon at about 13:40 on Saturday.

The man was driving a Morris 14, near the entrance to Hunters Quay Holiday Village, when the vehicle lost control and left the road.

The driver was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where staff described his condition as serious but stable.

Sgt Kenny Malaney said: “Inquiries into the cause of this crash are continuing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this crash to contact us.

“I would also ask any drivers on this road around the time who have dashcam to please check their footage and get in touch if it holds anything relevant.”

The Morris 14 is a series of two cars that were produced by the UK manufacturer from 1936 until 1939.
