There wasseris a boy, who was so little that everyone gave him the byname of Little Dumpy.  He had six little brothertjes and six sistertjes.  His father was a woodhacker and his mother was working in the housholding.  On a given day, the father said : « I hold it no longer out, I work myself in the blubber » « What do you gonna do now ? » mother said « Well », the father said, « To-morrow, I bring all the little bloeikes into the wood, and when they are far genoegh, I let them in the steak.

But Little Dumpy, verry good by the time and heartstikke pienter, had heard everything.  At night, he at two sneeds of bread and slipped out of the bed.  He went to the thuinpath and propped his brooksacks full of kaiselstones.  The next morning, the father bracht the children into the wood.  But every stap Little Dumpy let fallen a kaiselstone.

When they are far genoegh in the wood, the father let them in the steak. But Little Dumpy said to his brothertjes and sistertjes : »Kelm on, kelm on, doenot kraai, I bring you heelhouds back ! »  And via the kaiselstones they came home.  The father was just sitting on tweecee and he heard the doorbel clingel. There was the hole nest again thous.

The next morning the father did theselfde, but Little Dumpy had not time to pick up kaiselstones, so he did it with a packy volcorn bread of a wellknown mark ( the only that you smite away is the verpacking.

When daddy let them in the steak again, Little Dumpy said upnew : « Kelm on, kelm on, I bring you heelhouds back just like gister. »  But he could not find the way, because the verreckte muskes had eaten up the bread.  The chilren kraai en kraai.  Little Dumpy  said : »Keep you big waffels shut » and he clautered in a tree, looked om his heen and saw a little lightje.

It was the light of the hous of the Big Rous.  That was rotten, want rousen like to eat little children up with houd and hair.  But as I said, Little Dumpy was very pienter and was not bang at all. ‘s Nights, when the rous was maffing he packed the seven miles lears of the rous and all his money and his checkbookie. He wecked his brothertjes and sistertjes, loyed them op his shouldertjes and putste the plate. The father stood bij the gardenheck with a vernlooker and saw how they came ongestepped.  He was very blaai and the mother ofcourse too.

And when they are not sterven, the live long and happy.

    The story of Little Dumpy
Dit is een heel mooi verhaal. Het is al minstens tientallen jaren oud en misschien nog wel veel ouder. Tussen de diverse versies zijn er kleine verschillen. Ik vraag me af wie de echte schrijver is.
