"Autorijden wordt in ons land onbetaalbaar"
Mobiliteitsorganisatie Touring pleit opnieuw voor het negatieve
cliquetsysteem ofwel de verlaging van de accijnzen op brandstof zodra
die te duur wordt. Enkel in Noorwegen, Denemarken, Nederland, Italië,
het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Griekenland is brandstof nog duurder dan in
België, zegt Touring.
Het omgekeerd cliquetsysteem trad vroeger in werking als de maximumprijs
van diesel boven de 1,5 euro ging en die van benzine boven de 1,7 euro.
De accijnzen daalden dan, waardoor de consument de prijsstijging minder
voelde. Het systeem is sinds januari afgeschaft en dat is volgens
Touring nefast voor de economie.

wordt in ons land onbetaalbaar", zegt Touring. De hoge brandstofprijzen
zorgen er volgens de organisatie voor dat de consument gaat besparen op
andere producten en diensten, waardoor de koopkracht en dus ook de
belastingsinkomsten voor de overheid dalen. Kortom, aldus de
mobiliteitsorganisatie: "de hoge brandstofprijzen zijn nefast voor de
economie".
Touring pleit er daarom voor het negatieve
cliquetsysteem opnieuw in te voeren. "Een groot deel van de
brandstofprijs gaat naar de accijnzen die de overheid int op de
brandstof. De laatste jaren is deze alleen maar toegenomen. Daarom
pleiten wij eens te meer om deze opnieuw te laten dalen vanaf 1,6 euro
voor benzine en vanaf 1,5 voor diesel."
De FOD Financiën zegt dat er geen plannen zijn om het systeem opnieuw in te voeren.
