Australiërs maken 's werelds beste ijs
Voor 's werelds beste ijs moet je naar Australië, meer bepaald naar Enmore, een buitenwijk van Sydney. Dat is het verdict van de internationale wedstrijd voor ijsmakers, de Gelato World Tour, in het Italiaanse Rimini.
Vader John Crowl en zoon Sam van ijssalon Cow and the Moon overtuigden de jury met de smaak mandorla affogato, een variant op het klassieke affogato, en werden zondag uitgeroepen tot winnaar.
"De Italianen verslaan op hun eigen terrein is iets dat we al heel lang proberen", reageerde de echtgenote van John Crowl en mede-eigenares Wendy verheugd.
De tweede en derde plaats gingen naar Italiaanse ijsmakers. Er namen 24 ijsmakers uit acht verschillende landen deel aan de finale. (br.hln)
