Lavendel... Het blauwe goud uit de Provence. De lavendeloogst is, in de Provence, een ware traditie, overgedragen van vader op zoon en van moeder op dochter. Het hele jaar wachten de dorpjes op de eerste zomerdagen. Wanneer de diepe kleur van bloeiende lavendel opkomt, zijn ze in verrukking. De lavendel kleurt en vult dan de landschappen voor zover je ogen kunnen reiken.



LAVENDELSTREEK IN FRANKRIJK

Lof van Brabant

Dit is de hof der zaligheden,

dit is het paradijselijke dal

bij zon en regenval.

De aarde, zegt men, is beneden,

er klinkt geen hemels hoorngeschal;

maar fluit en hobo blazen zal

die Brabant heeft beleden!

Van bloesem wit zijn ons lusthoven,

wijd open staat de voorjaarschuur,

de vrucht wast in dit uur.

De hemel, zegt men, is hierboven,

maar dit hier is geen vagevuur;

zijn wij der hemelen gebuur,

laat ons dees buurschap loven!

                        Moeheid of verdriet                 

  Onuitsprekelijk moe

zit ik in een stoel

Ik zou iets moeten doen

Maar ik kan niet meer

mijn hoofd valt opzij

Tranen stromen en stromen

langs mijn wangen

waarom weet ik zelf niet

maar ophouden gaat niet meer

The Pearl

Kino lives in a brush house with his wife Juana and his

little son

Coyotito, in La Paz. They were poor Indians, and Kino has

work

like his father and grandfather before him , they worked

as pearl divers on oysters.

One day a scorpion stings Coyotito. They go to the doctor

in town

but the doctor refuses to examine the baby because Kino

can't pay the

bill. Maybe he can pay the doctor with pearls !

Kino sails out with his canoe and dives in the sea for

oysters that hold

pearls. He has  to rip open the oysters with force that

might contain a

pearl.

After hours he finds the big one.

When the doctor finds out that Kino has the pearl he

rushes to Kino's

house to offer his service to Coyotito. Kino says he 'll pay

after he sold the pearl.

So , he goes to the pearl buyers' offices. They say that the

pearl isn't worth much.

 Kino is very upset and he thinks they are cheating

him. Later  a few people tried to steal the pearl.

Kino says to Juana, "we have nothing to lose but our

lives," because their

house was burned out and Kino has killed a man, they go

into the mountains.

But 3 trackers are following the family, and overtake

the family and one

of the trackers kills Coyotito.

In the end , Kino looks at the pearl and sees it as

something evil.

Kino's hand shook a little, and he turned slowly to Juana

and held the

pearl out to her. She stood beside him, still holding her

dead bundle

over her shoulder, she looked into Kino's eyes and said

softly, No, you.

Kino flings the pearl back into the sea, And the pearl lay

on the floor of

the sea, the pearl was gone under of sand.

Soms, dan zou ik je willen tekenen

een glimlach op een stuk karton

met hier en daar een traan verborgen

waar daarnet nog een lente begon

Voorzichtig zou ik de lijnen in je ogen volgen

zoals het licht dat deed

toen de woorden weer niet kwamen

na een nacht vol kleine-mensenleed.

En dan zou ik je gauw wat liefde geven

- een druppeltje voor in de verf -

zodat iedere vlek en veeg

je juist nog mooier zouden maken.
