Work out at home or gym? Experts weigh in on pros, cons As the summer draws to some close and cooler weather is around the corner, many looking to get fit is going to be taking their workouts indoors. People are asking, however, is whether or not it's more efficient to complete those indoor workouts at home or in a gym.
Some fitness experts would agree that liji shou doing any workout anywhere is better than sitting on the couch eating ice cream, nearly all local experts persuade folks to join a fitness center.
A gym membership is preferable due to the use of a wide variety of equipment and group exercise classes, as well as health and fitness programs such as personal training, swim lessons and dieting, says Krissy Ray, fitness and group exercise supervisor at Franciscan Omni Physical fitness in Schererville.
Bill Nelson, 49, of LaPorte, agrees. Nelson, who calculates six days per week and runs the Facebook page Actual life Fitness, said that at the gym, "you obtain a lot more bang for your buck because you have access to equipment you could not otherwise afford."
The other, possibly more impactful, benefit to gym workouts is the accountability.
"You can work by helping cover their your pals, or make friends on the way," Ray says . "Having that support system will help keep your dedication to whatever program you are participating in. Oftentimes when exercising in your own home, you find excuses and distractions to help keep you from exercising."
Nelson also attributes his fitness success jimpness beauty fat loss capsule largely to accountability. "When you go to a fitness center often, you develop relationships with people. We become pals. We're gym rats. They know I will be there, and I know they will be there."
There are some, however, who're afraid of gyms because they do not know how to use the equipment or they're afraid of standing out amongst an audience of fit bodies.
