Jinki the Tasmanian Devil

Tasmanian_devilokay.jpg
The Tasmanian Devil's jaw has an extremely wide gape with the capacity to crush bone. Tasmanian Devils have jaw pressure comparable to that of a hyena. Tasmanian Devils are the largest living carnivorous marsupial in Australia. Male Devils have a head to body length of 652mm, a female Devil may only grow to around 570mm. Males can weigh up to 12kg and females 10kg. Each Devil has distinctive white markings on their chest which can be used like a fingerprint to identify individuals. They have sharp powerful claws and a backward facing pouch. Tasmanian Devils are shy, nocturnal creatures they are rarely seen in the wild.

Truck 4620

Eighten wheels turnin, Two hearts burnin.
We go runnin wild, gonna make a million
memories, for every hundred thousand miles.
Easy reach to my cooler, keeps us iced cold
For a man like me,  yeah I might take it slow,
30 through town, and 40 on a dirty outback road.
But girl I still put the hammer up and down.

Dingo extinction

The dingo is believed to have arrived in Australia 5,000 years ago.
There’s nothing quite as thrilling as hearing the mournful howl of a dingo when you’re in your swag at night, camping out under the stars. But within 50 years, the bush could be silenced, and the dingo extinct. After 200 years of being shot and poisoned, the dingo’s biggest threat is in-breeding with domestic dogs. Dr Alan Wilton is a geneticist with the University of New South Wales – his analysis of DNA from dingo skulls shows the dog could be extinct within 50 years.  That leaves places like the Pilbara, Kimberley and Territory as strongholds for the wild dog. And this raises questions about whether 1080 baiting of the animal inthe West should stop, and if the native dog should be put on the endangered species list. It's also important for pet owners in country areas to be responsible - male dogs are the most likely to mate with female dingoes.
