While working on his collection, Jan Taminiau found himself inspired by the orchid. The shapes, the fragile nerve pattern, and the colours were all sources of inspiration. The collection, including dresses and other pieces inspired by orchids, was presented on 20 January 2014 during the Paris Haute Couture fashion show. The dresses symbolise the orchid's status in the plant kingdom. Not only is the orchid the Queen of Plants; it is also the perfect living fashion and home accessory.

The evening dress is from the designer's autumn/winter 2011 'Nature Extends'€™ collection. Director Benno Tempel is overjoyed. "We were the first museum ever to purchase a JANTAMINIAU creation. This fairytale creation is one of the top items in our current fashion exhibition and we're proud to have the opportunity to add it to our collection. By doing so, we're underlining the museum quality of his work"

Jan Taminiau is constantly looking for new ways to expand his romantic world. Often, his new ways lead him back into history to explore rich traditions, half forgotten crafts and original fabrics.

Designer Jan Taminiau is known for his love for traditional production techniques, antique materials, the search for the right shape and the penchant for aesthetics.
