Het is de regel dat verantwoordelijkheden in het bisdom Ballari om de vijf jaar wisselen. Dit jaar hebben een aantal bekende priesters een nieuwe taak gekregen. We zetten ze even op een rijtje:

Father O. Vincent, de coördinator voor alle peetouder projecten in het bisdom, is nu de verantwoordelijke voor de financiën van het bisdom. Hij blijft ook in het coördinatieteam.

Sister Rosy heeft de taak van coördinator overgenomen van Father O. Vincent.

Father Jay is de nieuwe secretaris van het coördinatieteam en vervangt Sister Shamala.

Father Francis, de eerste coördinator, was directeur van de Vianney Vidyalaya school in Ballari en wordt nu parochiepriester in Kamalapur waar verschillende petekinderen wonen.

Father Nathan, die ons reeds meermaals bezocht was parochie priester en schooldirecteur in Sirwar en wordt nu directeur van de Vianney Vidyalaya school.

Wij wensen hen allemaal veel voldoening in hun nieuwe verantwoordelijkheid.

It is a rule in the diocese Ballari that priests change responsibilities after 5 years of office. This year several priests associated with our project assume a new responsibility. We list them here:

Father O. Vincent, the coordinator of the foster parent projects in the diocese, is now the Director of Financial Operations. He remains in the Coordination Team.

Sister Rosy takes over from Fr. Vincent and becomes the new coordinator for the foster parents projects.

Father Jay replaces Sister Shamala as secretary of the foster parents projects coordination team.

Father Francis, our very first coordinator and manager of the Vianney Vidyalaya school in Ballari becomes parish priest in Kamalapur where we have several sponsored children.

Father Nathan, who visited us several times, was parish priest and school manager in Sirwar and will now assume management at the Vianney Vidyalaya school.

We wish them all a lot of success and fulfilment in their new responsibility.

Bij zijn aanstelling in Harapur heeft Father Anil Kumar vastgesteld dat er in zijn uitgestrekte parochie een duidelijke behoefte was voor een school. Hij heeft dan eerst een kleuterklas opgericht en sinds juni van dit jaar is er ook, na inspectie en goedkeuring door de regering, een 1ste leerjaar. Jonge kinderen hebben nood aan speelruimte en daarom vroeg Father Anil Kumar financiële steun voor wat speeltuigen. Dank zij extra giften en gunstige resultaten van onze jaarlijkse activiteiten konden wij hem helpen. Zoals blijkt uit bijgevoegde foto’s zullen de kinderen weldra kunnen spelen in hun speeltuin. Father Anil Kumar is iedereen die dit mee mogelijk maakte zeer dankbaar.

When Father Anil Kumar took charge of the Harapur mission he realised that there was a clear need for a school in his large parish. First he opened a kindergarten and since this year June, after an inspection by and an authorisation from the government, a standard 1 class opened. Young children need space to play which is why Father Anil Kumar asked financial support for some playthings. Thanks to extra gifts and good results from our yearly activities we were able to help him. As seen on the pictures below, the children will soon be able to play in their play garden. Father Anil Kumar is very grateful to everybody who contributed to make this possible.

Beste peetouders
Vriendelijke groeten vanuit de Harapur missie.
Ik ben blij te mogen vaststellen dat God ons met goede regen gezegend heeft en dat de boeren gelukkig zijn en begonnen zijn met de aanplanting.
Onze parochianen hebben na hun bezoek aan bedevaartoorden zoals Harihar Mathe en Ballari Arogyamathe de verjaardag van Moeder Maria in hun dorpen gevierd. Basapur, een van de dorpen waar kinderen door jullie project gesteund worden, heeft dit feest op 15 september groots gevierd. 13 priesters, een aantal zusters en 200 gelovigen waren aanwezig. In voorbereiding op dit feest werd een retraite georganiseerd door 3 priesters. Alle aanwezigen genoten van de speciale aandacht voor dit feest. Bijgevoegd een paar foto’s.
Op 20 september werd feest gevierd in Hedigibal en op 24 september in Deenasamudra.

Dear foster parents
Loving greetings from Harapur Mission.
I am happy to note that this year God has blessed us with good rains and the farmers are happy and have started the cultivation.
Our parishioners celebrate the birthday of Mother Mary in their villages after visiting Mother Mary’s shrines such as Harihar Mathe and Ballari Arogyamathe. One of the sub stations called Basapur (some of the children had been helped by your project) celebrated the feast very grandly on 15th September, 2017. There were 13 priests and a few sisters and around 200 people who participated in the celebration. In order to prepare for the feast a retreat was conducted by three priests. All the priests, nuns and the faithful appreciated the substation people for their special interest in celebrating Mother Mary’s Jathra.
Kindly see the attachment for a few pictures of the celebrations. There was another celebration at Hedigibal on 20th September and one in Deenasamudra on 24th September. Kindly pray for our people and especially for success of the feast.

Nieuws uit Maski
We ontvingen van Father Chinnappa onderstaande informatie over activiteiten in en rond Maski

School verkiezingen: bij het begin van ieder academisch jaar worden er verkiezingen gehouden om de klas en schoolafgevaardigden te bepalen. Op 10 juni werden dit jaar deze verkiezingen gehouden. Op deze wijze geraken de kinderen vertrouwd met verkiezingen en het democratisch systeem.

Investituur: Gaddfeyamma, de SPL (School Pupil Leader) en Nagaraj, de ASPL (Assistant School Pupil Leader) hebben de eed afgelegd in het bijzijn van Mr. Sharanappa, lid van het stadsbestuur van Maski. Op zijn beurt onderstreepte deze voor de kinderen het belang van de grondwettelijke rechten en plichten. Een cultureel programma vervolledigde deze belangrijke dag.

Dorpsfeestdag in Mudbal en Anthragangi: de christenen van de Maski parochies zijn Moeder Maria zeer genegen. Ieder jaar ondernemen zij op 8 september een bedevaart naar plaatselijke heilige plaatsen zoals Harihar en Ballar. Daarna vieren zij met veel overgave het feest van Moeder Marie in hun dorp. De jeugd wordt ingeschakeld om de kerk te versieren en aan de diensten deel te nemen. Op 11 en 12 september werd in Mudbal en Anthragangi het feest zeer zinvol gehouden.

Dag van de leerkracht: op 5 september wordt in India de dag van de leerkracht gevierd. Ook onze St. John School wist de goede diensten van de leerkrachten te waarderen. De kinderen presenteerden een cultureel programma en gaven geschenken aan de leerkrachten. De afgevaardigden van de leerlingen organiseerden zelf het volledige programma bedoeld om de leerkrachten blij te maken.

News from Maski
We received from Father Chinnappa the following information about activities in and around Maski.

School level Election: at the beginning of every academic year, elections are held in the school in order to elect class and school representatives. This year the election was held on June 10th. Thus, the children were educated about the voting system and the system of democracy.

Investiture ceremony: Gaddeyamma the SPL (School Pupil Leader) and Nagaraj the ASPL (Assistant School Pupil Leader) took solemnly oath in the presence of Mr. Sharanappa, the Maski town council member. He too addressed the children emphasizing on knowing their constitutional rights and duties. The day was made memorable by cultural programs too.

Village feast day at Mudbal and Anthragangi: the Christians of Maski parish are ardent devotees of Mother Mary. Every year they make pilgrimage to the local shrines like Harihar and Ballari on September 8th. Thereafter they solemnly celebrate mother Mary's feast in their respective villages with all pomp and glory. Youth took special interest to decorate the church and to participate in the liturgy. This year, on September 11th and 12th Mudbal and Anthargangi villages celebrated the feast prayerfully and meaningfully.

Teachers day: in India September 5th is celebrated as the teachers day. St. John's school too appreciated the service rendered by the teachers. The children on their own prepared the cultural programs and presented them well. The gifts were given to the teachers. The student representatives arranged the whole program systematically in order to make the teachers happy.

Father Vincent informeerde ons dat enkele van de diocesane scholen 100% behaalden voor het S(econdary) S(chool) L(eaving) C(ertificate) openbaar examen 2016/2017. Dit dank zij het harde werk van de kinderen, lerarenkorps en directie.
Daarbij aansluitend willen wij ook even vermelden dat verschillende petekinderen in de voorbije jaren met een mooi diploma afstudeerden: GNM (verpleging), B.Com en M.Com (Bachelor en Master Commerce), ITI (Industrial Training), MSW (Master Social Work), MA (Master of Arts), B.Ed (Bachelor Education), HM (Hotel Management), computercursus. Een voortreffelijk resultaat behaald door deze kinderen en dit dank zij de financiële ondersteuning van hun peetouders. Daarom is dit project zo belangrijk!

Father Vincent informed us that some Diocesan schools got 100 percent results in S(econdary) S(chool) L(eaving) C(ertificate) public examination in 2016-17, thanks to the hard work put in by the children, staff and the management.
In addition we want to inform that over the years several foster children have completed their studies with a nice degree: GNM (Nursing), B.Com and M.Com (Bachelor and Master Commerce), ITI (Industrial Training), MSW (Master Social Work), MA (Master of Arts), B.Ed (Bachelor Education) and computer course. A splendid result achieved by those students thanks to the financial support of their foster parents. This is why our project is so important.

Father Chinnappa – Maski Mission meldt:
Ieder jaar wordt onder leiding van de Verenigde Naties de Wereld Milieu Dag gehouden. Ook in Maski Mission werd hieraan meegedaan.
Een dag waarop extra aandacht wordt besteed aan de belangrijkheid van het milieu voor de mensheid. Tegenwoordig is er nood om het beter omgaan met onze planeet te promoten, zodat we onze aarde gezond kunnen houden en de klimaatverandering tegengaan. Wereld Milieu Dag is een herinnering voor ons om Moeder Natuur, die in allerlei vormen van leven voorziet, dankbaar te zijn.

Father Chinnappa – Maski Mission reports:
World Environment Day is commemorated worldwide each year under the direction of the United Nations to heighten public awareness of the environment. In recent times, the need to promote more earth friendly practices in order to maintain the health of our planet has come to the forefront, as world nations struggle to reverse the present trend of climate change. The World Environment Day is a reminder to show our gratefulness to Mother Nature, which sustains all forms of life.

Father O. Vincent meldt:
De viering van 200 jaar Christus Koning Kerk van het kanton Ballari, vond plaats in Ballari op 18 juni. Dit is een historisch moment voor zowel het bisdom als in het bijzonder voor de parochie van het kanton. Van de regering van Karnataka kreeg men een mooie som om de kerk te renoveren. Op deze historische dag werd de genoemde kerk gezegend (heringewijd) door Bisschop Henry D’Souza, in aanwezigheid van vele parochianen, priesters en religieuzen, regeringsafge-vaardigden en weldoeners.

Father O. Vincent reports:
The Bicentenary celebration of Christ the King Church, Cantonment, Ballari took place on June 18. This is a historic moment both for the Diocese and for the Cantonment Parish in particular. The government of Karnataka, through the minority commission, has given a good sum to renovate the church. On that historic day, the said church was rededicated by our Bishop, Henry D’Souza in the presence of a lot of parishioners, priests and religious, officials of the government, dignitaries and well-wishers.

De berichten bleven komen met de melding dat iedereen in Ballari zat te wachten op regen. Elders in India was er al regen geweest maar dit deel van Karnataka zag de hoop op een goede oogst steeds kleiner worden.

Toen de regen eindelijk ook hier begon kregen de boeren terug hoop op oogst en inkomen. Op sommige plaatsen viel de regen zelfs overvloedig en zo werd de missiepost Harapur in een meer omgeschapen. Het veroorzaakte uiteraard heel wat ongemak maar kinderen, begeleiders en priester bleven ongedeerd.

The incoming messages kept repeating the message that the people of Ballari were still waiting for rain. Other places in India had already had rain but this part of Karnataka gradually lost the hope to have a good crop.
Then finally the rain came also to Karnataka and the people regained hope for a crop in income. Some places even had more rain than expected which is why Harapur mission suddenly transformed into a lake. It did of course cause quite some inconvenience but the children, staff and priests remained safe.

Zoals gewoon is in India krijgen priesters na een aantal jaar een nieuwe functie. Dit jaar is het Father Gnanaprakasam die de leiding van de Missiepost Harapur moest doorgeven. Hij wordt opgevolgd door Father Anil Kumar. Wij wensen beide priesters het allerbeste in hun nieuwe functie/uitdaging!

As is usual in India priests get a new assignment every few years. This year it was Father Gnanaprakasam who passed on the lead of Harapur Mission. Father Anil Kumar takes over the mission/parish. We wish both fathers all the best in their new assignment/challenge.

Het nieuwe schooljaar 2016-17 is begonnen. Onze school heropende op 6 juni. We hebben nu 140 kinderen in het internaat en er komen er nog 30 bij. In de school hebben we 260 kinderen en hopen op nog wat meer.

Fr. Balaraj werd als mijn assistent aangesteld en Bro. Rayappa als “regent”.

We hebben maar weinig regen en de boeren hopen op overvloedige regen.

De Werelddag voor het Milieu wordt op 5 juni in de ganse wereld gevierd. In de aanloop tot deze werelddag hebben we op onze campus 35 planten geplant. Fr. Balaraj hield een lezing voor de kinderen met als thema “De strijd tegen de illegale handel in wilde dieren”.

Greetings from Maski!

We have begun the new academic year 2016-17. Our school re-opened on 6^th of June. We have now 140 children in our boarding, another 30 children yet to come. At school level we have 260 children and are hoping for some more.

Fr. Balaraj is appointed as my assistant this year and Bro. Rayappa as Regent.

We have not much rain and the farmers are waiting for big rain.

5^th of June World Environment Day is celebrated by the people all across the world. In view of the World Environment Day we planted 35 plants in our campus. Fr. Balaraj addressed the children: this year’s theme was “Fight against the illegal trade in wild life”.
