    Kerry Katona is happy with

    Brian McFadden's new wife

    Kerry Katona's children are ''happy''

    with Brian McFadden's new wife.

The Westlife singer - with whom Kerry was married and has daughters Lilly-Sue, nine, and 11-year-old Molly with -

wed his second wife Vogue Williams last

    September and although

Kerry and Brian shared vicious comments over

    Twitter shortly after the wedding,

she insists she has no problem with Vogue

as long as she is a good stepmother to her children.

Kerry said: ''As far as I'm aware,

[the kids are] very OK with it, and they are very happy.

Vogue is their stepmum and as

long as she's a good stepmum,

I have nothing to complain about. ''

Former Westlife star Brian Mcfadden is convinced

Niall Horan will be the first to leave

One Direction to forge a solo career.

The Irish singer quit his own boyband

in 2004 to spend more time

with his family and to launch himself as a solo artist,

leaving the group to continue without him as a four-piece.

He believes Horan will eventually follow in his footsteps,

and those of former That That star

    Robbie Williams, by exiting

One Direction and branching out on his own.

MCFadden tells Britain's Real Radio Yorkshire,

    "I reckon from One Direction,

probably Niall (will be first to leave).

He comes across as the guy who'll probably

follow in my steps and Robbie's

steps and be the first to leave.

All the ones that leave first always have

that same kind of twinkle in their eye; they're a bit bold, a bit naughty!

"I reckon Niall's the naughty one...

He has a twinkle in his eye though

and I've seen that twinkle before in the mirror!

    He's gonna cause trouble...

    (He will say) 'I'm out of here';

he'll be full of whiskey and

    Guinness and he'll do something.

    (I) just have that feeling, just a gut feeling."

     Brian McFadden misses

    sausages

Brian McFadden misses sausages and football.

The former Westlife singer - who moved to Australia in 2006 to be with ex-fiancée Delta Goodrem - misses UK culture and is looking forward to moving back to Ireland to be closer to his daughters.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''I miss Sausages. The sausages in Australia are f***ing disgusting. I've never had a good sausage in Australia, ever, and the first thing I do as soon as I get back is a proper British and Irish sausage. Miss them.

''I do miss is football. Even though we watch it in Australia I miss the banter over in the UK. In Australia we don't have that culture of sitting in a pub on a Saturday watching the football and having a pint.''

Brian only gets to see his two daughter Molly, 11, and Lily-Sue, 10- with ex-wife Kerry Katona - twice a year in their school holidays. However, he hopes to rekindle his career in the UK in order to be closer to them.

He said: ''I'd like by the end of this year to be able to maintain my career here again.

''I would like to have a little success here to be able to be close to my girls and be close to my family and friends again and be able to work closer to home would be nice.''

Brian's fourth album, 'The Irish Connection' - which sees him perform a number of Irish folk songs - as well as duets with Ronan Keating and Sinead O'Connor - will be available from March 4.

Former Westlife star Brian Mcfadden has urged pop sensation Justin Bieber to take a break from his busy career or risk burning out early.

The Irish singer cited exhaustion as one of the key factors for his departure from the boyband in 2004 and warns the Baby hitmaker to learn from his story and slow down before it is too late.

He tells Entertainmentwise.com, "I think with One Direction and Justin Bieber, the difference is, there's five of them boys (in One Direction) so, one of them might have a bad day but the rest of the four can keep it going.

"But Justin just seems to be constantly going, working so hard, so someone's going to have to tell him to take a break soon. That's what happened to me. If I'd been able to take a break before Westlife, I probably would have still been in Westlife.

"You have to be in control of it and take the time off and enjoy it because you don't want to get to the stage where you're not enjoying it anymore. This is the best job in the world, but as long as you appreciate what you're doing."

Former Westlife star Brian Mcfadden was bombarded with death threats from One Direction fans after suggesting Niall Horan would be the first to quit the group.

The Irish singer was asked about the boyband in a recent interview with Britain's Real Radio Yorkshire and MCFadden singled out Horan when the host urged him to pick which singer he thought would be the first to launch a solo career.

MCFadden now reveals the comment sparked a backlash from the group's fans and he received a slew of threatening messages via Twitter.com.

He says, "I wouldn't wanna (sic) f**k with their fans. I was asked who I thought would be the first to leave One Direction on the radio - I didn't know (who to choose), but they (the hosts) said to pick one, so I said Niall because I'm Irish, he's Irish, and he has that glint in his eye. Then I get these Twitter comments from nut jobs (sic) like, 'Go f**king kill yourself'. I'm like, 'Calm down.' They're f**king nuts... It's different now because of Twitter - you can see how crazy people are."

Brian McFadden: Marriage has made me grow up

Brian McFadden has ''grown up'' since meeting Vogue Williams.

The 33-year-old singer - who married the model in September 2012 after 18 months of dating - insists he has settled down and he now prefers quiet nights at home with his 27-year-old spouse to nights out.

He said: ''She's a great girl. We've changed each other. The two of us grew up and settled down when we met each other. Going out is a rare event now.

''I play golf while Vogue walks the dog and goes to the gym, then in the evening we watch a box set of 'Lost'.''

Despite feeling content in their home life together, Brian - who has daughters Molly, 11, and Lilly-Sue, 10, with ex-wife Kerry Katona - and Vogue insist they are in no rush to start a family, but when the time comes, the former Westlife singer is willing to put his career on hold.

Vogue said: ''I don't feel I'm in any rush but it's one of the reasons I wanted to make a base here [in London].

''I think 30 would be a good age - I still have lots of things I want to achieve.''

Brian added in an interview with Britain's HELLO! magazine: ''I'd like to see Vogue concentrate on her career. I'd be happy to be a stay-at-home dad.''

Brian McFadden wants to reunite with Westlife.

The 33-year-old singer was part of the boy band's original line-up alongside Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan,

but quit the group in 2004 leaving them to continue as a four-piece for eight years until they split last year.

Brian hopes to work with the guys in the future and thinks there could be an opportunity when they aren't all so busy with their new careers.

Former bandmate Shane is releasing his first solo album 'You and Me' this November, Nicky has moved into TV and is presenting 'The Hit' alongside Aidan Power, while Mark is currently a coach on talent contest 'The Voice', Ireland.

Talking on UK TV show 'Daybreak', Brian said: ''I would definitely love to do something with the guys one day.

He explained: ''I don't think it's going to happen for a long time, the boys are all going off on their solo ventures now.''

Despite his enthusiasm he insists he would never appear on reality documentary series 'The Big Reunion', which has seen several successful pop bands reform for tours.

The musician - who is married to Irish DJ and reality star Vogue Williams - said: ''I wouldn't [reunite], not for 'The Big Reunion' or something like that but I would love to do something with them again of course we used to have so much fun touring and singing together so I would never rule it out.''

Brian has released four well-received solo LPs, the most recent being 'The Irish Connection', and he insists he isn't worried about Shane's new music eclipsing his, as he is a fan of his single 'Everything to Me'.

He explained: ''I really like what he's doing. I wouldn't say there's competition because obviously we're in different times in our career, this is his first single out and it's all an exciting time for him, it feels like I've been doing it for a long time. We've got different styles as well at the moment and I think he's really creating his own sound.''

WESTLIFE hunk Kian Egan had a splashing
time as he rode the waves at the weekend.

Seven days after the band’s sellout farewell gigs
    at Croker, the surfer jumped
into his camper van and headed to Bundoran,
Co Donegal for the annual Sea Sessions Festival.

Kian drove to the resort — only
40km from his own Sligo home

.The Irish star will host the segment - previously
fronted by Coleen Nolan - over
    the summer alongside main presenters
    Stephen Mulhern and Matt Johnson,
with other guest hosts set to include
TOWIE's Gemma Collins and X Factor finalist
    Johnny Robinson.

And Egan, who recently bid farewell to Westlife
after the band split - admitted he was thrilled
to be a part of the show.

    'I've always enjoyed This Morning,
    so I was delighted when
I got a call to be part of the team,' he told The Sun.

'The Hub is such a great way
to interact with viewers discussing different topics -
    some serious and some light-hearted.

.'I've also heard that it is a lovely team there,
so I'm really looking forward to sharing
the screen with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Lansbury.'

Executive producer Karl Newton said that viewers
'were in for a treat' with Egan's arrival. '
He is sure to brighten up our overcast summer,'
    he added.

    The singer -
who is married to Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert -
    has already had some experience
    in front of the camera,
    having also stood in for
    Olly Murs as co-host of
The Xtra Factor during last week's boot camp stage.

He has also been a coach on the Irish version of The Voice.

KIAN Egan has been loving his new role
as guest host of The Xtra Factor.

    The Westlife star has joined
    leggy presenter Caroline Flack
for The X Factor bootcamp, filling in for cheeky chappie
Olly Murs while he continues his tour.

    Kian Egan, who has revealed
he won't even be getting paid for the stand in stint,
    seems to be having
    so much fun that we're
a little bit worried he won't be giving
Olly his job back without a fight.

On his first day, Kian took to
Twitter to voice his excitement about
    his new role saying:
"Hello twitter world! It's ben a while.
So I'm up in Liverpool today!
    For what you ask!!!
Well all I say is watch out Olly Murs!! Ha ha."

Despite the singer's enthusiasm for the show,
Kian is already a coach on Irish talent show
The Voice of Ireland, which he will be returning
to in September for a second series.

    In the mean time,
we're more than happy to have
    you gracing our teleboxes, Kian.

FORMER boyband star Kian Egan WILL
    return to The Voice ?
despite landing his first major gig on British telly.
    The Westlife star
is set to fill in for Xtra Factor?
s Olly Murs during the bootcamp stages of the ITV show this summer.

But his breakthrough filming stint will finish before The Voice of Ireland returns to our screens here.

An insider revealed: ?The job with ITV doesn?t rule out Kian for The Voice.

?The bootcamp stages will take place later in the summer
    but the Voice won?
t begin filming again until September/October.

?His new role still gives him plenty of
time to get back working on another series.?

Egan?s new presenting role is a massive coup
    for the singer ?
just weeks after Westlife went their separate ways.

    The Irish Sun has learnt
    the dad-of-one will begin filming
with co-host Caroline Flack next month.

    Our source added: ?
This is a massive deal for Kian and if it goes well,
could lead to more work with ITV.

    ?He is close to all
the X Factor crew and has maintained contact with
Simon Cowell ? Kian is very much on Simon?s
radar and he knows he wants a huge TV career if possible.?

We revealed in April how The Voice?s four coaches are set to return for a second series.

Kian, 32, who made a name for himself as an outspoken judge, said: ?I?d do it again, yes. Why not??

Kian Egan is not being paid anything for his role filling in for Olly Murs on The Xtra Factor.

The Voice of Ireland judge told The Mirror: ?
The role on the Xtra Factor ?
I?m doing that for free because it?s only
a stepping stone rather than a full time thing. From that perspective, it?s not about the money,
    it?s about having some fun?.

    He also recently tweeted a
warning to current host Olly Murs warning him he?s
after his seat ? ?Well all
I say is watch out Olly Murs!! Ha ha,?
    he tweeted.

The Sligo native also revealed that
the stint on the ITV2 show has also given his
the opportunity to do some bonding with
Westlife manager and X Factor judge Louis Walsh.
?It?s real fun to be around him because even when he was managing
    Westlife we wouldn?t
have spent this much time together?.

While Kian says judging is ?
something I really enjoy doing on The Voice?,
he said if a chair was offered to him
on the X Factor panel he would jump ship.
?The X Factor is a huge show that if I was asked to join,
it would be something very hard to turn down?, he said.

However he is currently enjoying his role as stand
in presenter on Xtra Factor while Olly Murs is on tour.
    ?It?s a fantastic thing to
be part of and to be able
to hang out backstage with all the contestants and judges,
    just getting to know
    everybody, is great?.

Caroline Flack and Kian Egan were full

Kian Egan offered solo slots after Westlife spilt
    Jul 25th, 2012

Westlife star Kian Egan says he’s been offered
a number of solo slots at gigs and festivals
    around the country,
    but he’s turned them down.

The Voice of Ireland coach reckons
it’s too soon since the break-up of the boyband.

Egan is instead planning to put together
a rock group for some shows next year.

I've no time to take a break says Kian

    Saturday July 28 2012

THE days of Westlife may be over,
but Kian Egan is still as busy as ever --
and he's even put off any
    summer holidays or romantic getaways.

The Sligo native has revealed that although
he no longer has concert dates and tour commitments,
himself and wife Jodi have opted to
spend time at home this year instead
of heading off on a vacation
    with their son Koa.

"He's seven months and we're really getting
a feel for it all now. He's energetic, wants to be doing stuff.

"We're going to do a winter holiday next year,
    when Koa's a bit older,"
said the 32-year-old, who added that
the family may even decide to
enjoy their time off in Ireland,
as the cold weather doesn't bother them.

"At the moment, we're over and back
between Ireland and the UK and we're happy with that."

    offers

Kian told the Herald that things are going
extremely well for him so far on his own and that
there is more work than he expected
so soon after hanging up his mic.

"I'm back working quicker than I thought,
    the offers are coming in.
If there's another career for me that comes out of Westlife,
    that's great," he said.

    Although he has some experience
    as a boss from working
with Jodi's former girl group Wonderland,
Kian admitted that he is putting
his management plans on hold for the foreseeable future.

"I've always leaned towards TV or music management.
    But unless you have
the right people or if you are without a record label,
you're really up against it ... it's not worth it at the moment.
I want to stay from it for now.

"Maybe in a few years, Irish boy bands do really well
worldwide, like Westlife or Boyzone as Louis has done it.
I'd like to team up with him or do it on my own,
but not for another 10 years," he added.

    Saturday September 22 2012

WESTLIFE singer Kian Egan launches his new UK TV career in earnest tonight when he joins leggy
presenter Caroline Flack for X Factor's Bootcamp.

Kian, who has revealed he won't even be getting paid for the stint, is standing in for cheeky chappie Olly Murs.

After turning his back on 14 years with chart-topping
Westlife, the former singer's new career is off to a flying start.

This weekend sees the return of X Factor
Bootcamp where the judges' favourites from the auditions
will be put through their paces in tough sessions.

Those who make the cut can look forward to a visit to the glamorous homes of Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh,
Tulisa Contostavlos or Nicole Scherzinger in
a bid to make it onto the live shows.

Kian kicked off his TV career as a coach
on RTE's talent show The Voice and returns this month for a second series.

In July he joined ITV's This Morning show
and presented The Hub section of the popular morning programme.

X Factor's Bootcamp is notoriously tough
and can make or break even the strongest singers.

Just finished my first solo shoot for Fabulous magazine.
    Really great day..

Kian Egan: ‘It’s a relief to be out of Westlife’

He’s gone from being in one of the world’s
biggest boy bands to flying solo.
And in his first interview since Westlife split,
Kian Egan reveals he’s reinventing himself as a TV star

By Eimear O’Hagan, photography by Mark Hayman

Just a few months have passed since
    Westlife sung their final key
change and ditched the infamous bar stools for good.

    And so we were expecting
    Kian Egan
to be in a reflective mood, maybe even
in mourning for his 14-year music career.
    After 50 million album sales,
surely it must be tricky adjusting to
    life after one of the
most successful boy bands of all time?

    Apparently not.
Arriving at the Fabulous shoot, straight from
his new presenting slot on This Morning,
Kian, 32, is buzzing with excitement about the future.
    Despite being dismissed
as little more than a backing singer to lead vocalists
Shane Filan, 33, and Mark Feehily, 32, it’s Kian who’s hit the ground running when it comes to solo success.

With a new TV career, he’s also relishing having more time to spend with his wife, ex-Hollyoaks star Jodi Albert,
29, and their 10-month-old son Koa. It’s no wonder there’s a twinkle in his eye.

So, Westlife are no more! Why did the band decide to split this year?
We’d been going for so long that it had all become normal for us, and when that happens,
the buzz and passion leave and it stops being as good as it used to be.

Did things get tricky for you guys towards the end?
    The last few years in
    Westlife were really stressful.
The music industry is fickle and had changed
so much since we started. Keeping the music to the same standard, putting a tour together
that would be as successful as the last one,
being scrutinised by the media… it’s hard.

You joined the band as a teenager –
that’s a huge part of your life devoted to the band.
None of us had ever done anything else with our lives.
We left school, joined Westlife and fell on our feet.
The band became so big, so fast, and we did so much,
    but for our sanity
we needed to get away from it and do something different.

Is it true that tensions in the band led to the split?
That wasn’t the case at all.
The only arguments we ever had –
and they were more debates than arguments –
    were about music.
What was the best song on an album?
What should be the next single?
    That sort of thing.
We never fought about petty things.

Have you any regrets about calling it a day when you did?
No, we made the right decision.
If we’d tried to keep it going for another couple of years, it could have gone bad.
With four people wanting different things,
    we might have fallen out.
    We were grown-up about it
and it was better to end on a high than let things deteriorate the way some bands do.
Who else closed the curtain the way we did, performing to 80,000 people two nights in a row?!

How did you feel the morning after your last gig at Dublin’s Croke Park?
After partying until the wee hours, I can hardly remember that morning! That night the four of us, our partners and oldest friends went to a pub and spent the night drinking and reminiscing.

The news broke about Shane’s bankruptcy during that final tour. What was your reaction when you found out about his problems?
We were all devastated for him. He was one of those people who got hit really badly by the recession. I hope he’s going to have an amazing solo career.

    What’s life like now post-Westlife?
I feel a sense of relief if I’m being really honest.
For the first time in 14 years, I can make a decision without having to consult with three other people. I don’t have to worry about leaving Jodi and Koa at home for months on end while I’m touring. I can have a normal life.

    How is fatherhood?
It’s amazing. It’s changed my world. It’s not as tough as I thought it would be because Koa’s a really easy baby.
I go into his room in the morning and he’s standing up in his cot singing. We have great help from both sides of the family, so Jodi and I still get time for each other.

As well as This Morning, you’ve signed as a judge on Ireland’s The Voice. Is TV where you want to be?
TV definitely feels very natural to me.
Music was always my first passion in life, and I still love listening to it and playing my guitar, but TV is a new challenge and it’s exciting. I know I have to start at the bottom and work my way up, which I’m prepared to do, and I can’t believe the roles I’ve been given already. It’s amazing.

You’re joining Holly Willoughby on the new series of Surprise Surprise, too. What’s it like being part of such an iconic show?
Nerve-racking! I watched it growing up, – it was a Saturday-night tradition in my house – so to be part of it now is surreal. Even Holly confessed she was nervous about filling Cilla Black’s shoes.

What music are you listening to at the moment?
I’m a rock fan at heart. I grew up listening to rock and heavy metal like Guns N’ Roses and Metallica. Then my tastes broadened and I started listening to pop. I’m a fan of the Foo Fighters, and have seen them play twice this year. I’m also loving Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix.

Very diverse! Should Westlife’s manager Louis Walsh still be on the X Factor panel? Isn’t it time for a new judge?
No way! The man knows what he’s talking about, and Simon knows it. When it comes to talent, he’s the one to listen to. All Gary ever says is: “Oh I think you’re great” or: “Oh I don’t think you’re good”, and Tulisa sits back as if she’s half paying attention. I think Nicole is good – she’s really passionate. But without Louis the panel would fall to pieces.

Who are you backing this year?
    Ella is an amazing talent.
She could be the next Leona Lewis.

What do you predict the other
Westlife boys will end up doing?
I think Shane and Mark will always be singers.
Nicky [Byrne, 34] is on Strictly now,
and I think he’s interested in TV.

    Finally, will Westlife ever reunite?
It’s not on the cards. We didn’t split
with a view to getting back together in five years. If we were to reunite,
it would be as a one-off and that would be it.

    Kian Egan won't go solo
    Thursday 1 November 2012

Westlife's Kian Egan has insisted that
he will not be releasing any solo material,
    because he would feel under
    too much pressure.

Kian Egan and wife Jodie Albert

The Flying Without Wings singer split up with his band
this summer after 14 years together,
but Kian admitted that he couldn't achieve
the same success of Westlife on his own.

Speaking at at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Award, the 32-year-old singer said: "I think the idea of going solo is a huge amount of pressure to get it all right, and coming out of a band that's been so successful, I think it's going to be a huge pressure for any of us to try and release solo music and make it as big and successful."

Egan is now focusing on work as
a TV presenter along with acting as a coach on music talent show The Voice of Ireland.

Kian Egan is enjoying TV presenting work and spending time at home with wife Jodi Albert and their baby

Westlife's Kian Egan has insisted he won't be releasing any solo material - because he'd feel under too much pressure.

The Irish boyband split up this summer after 14 years together in which they notched up 14 number one singles and a string of hit albums and Kian doesn't think he could live up to that on his own.

He revealed at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Award: "I think the idea of going
solo is a huge amount of pressure to get it all right,
and coming out of a band that's been so successful,
I think it's going to be a huge pressure for any of us to try and release solo music and make it as big and successful."

The 32-year-old is now focusing on work as a TV presenter, working on The Xtra Factor, Surprise Surprise,
This Morning and as a coach
on music talent show The Voice of Ireland.

Kian said: "I kind of feel like the TV is a natural fit.
So for me this is a lot less stressful, it's a good challenge,
it's new, it's different and it's really enjoyable."

He has also been enjoying time with
wife Jodi Albert and their 10-month-old son Koa.

He said: "I'm kind of keeping busy, not too busy,
it's nice to have a bit of down time and
spend a bit of time at home with Jodie and the baby.
Just relaxing, chilling out and little bit of work."

    Kian Egan has revealed
his son is already a budding musician
    at just 11 months old.

    The singer-turned-Voice judge and his
former Hollyoaks star wife Jodi Albert
became parents to son Koa in December 2011,
and he is already showing he has inherited his dad's musical talent.

Kian revealed: "He's super interested in music.
I sit him on my knee when I play the piano and
I play the guitar to him,
but he's definitely interested in music
and he's definitely got an ear for it.

    "He's already sitting there
with one finger on the key on the piano
rather than just slapping all the keys with his hand.
And he's plucking the string, rather than just slapping the guitar. So he certainly has a little thing for it."

Kian is happy for Koa to follow in his footsteps and become a musician. "If it happens for him naturally that he wants to play piano and guitar then he will," he added.

Since Westlife split, Kian has become a TV presenter on This Morning and The Xtra Factor and a coach on The Voice of Ireland. And he revealed now he thinks of music as more of a hobby.

    He said: "I write songs,
but I kind of just do them for myself, just for the fun of it.
Sitting jamming with my guitar and mucking around.

"I might play it to a few people and go, what do you think of this, but I'm not that kind of person that needs to get out there and push my songs in people's faces. It's not really me."

Kian Egan is a Homer Simpson fan

    Breaking Bad

I started watching it after a recommendation from a friend. It’s about a teacher who becomes a crystal meth cook – it has an interesting storyline and is really gripping. The show is just made very well. I just really enjoyed the whole thing.

    True Blood

I’ve been watching season five: it’s just a great show,
isn’t it? My wife got me into it. I think it keeps getting better and better as the show’s gone on. The whole storyline, with different things coming in, such as black magic and witches and all of that, is very, very good. This has a much darker twist to it than things like the Twilight saga.

    Homeland

Like Breaking Bad, this is a show I started watching but my wife slowly drifted away from it.
I think Homeland and Breaking Bad are a little bit more boys’ shows. I think Homeland is very good. The fact that something is happening all the time and that Brody is not just pretending to be this guy who’s working for the wrong side, he’s actually active – I think that is what kind of got me.

    My favourite TV character

The first thing that popped into my head was Homer Simpson. I’ve been watching The Simpsons since I was a child and I still find myself putting it on. I just think the way it’s written for Homer Simpson, it’s so funny it just gets me, you know what I mean? It’s either him or Cartman from South Park – they are both cartoon characters and can get away with a lot more. The ridiculousness of it all is just fantastic.

WESTLIFE'S Kian Egan has revealed he would love the opportunity to host his own cookery TV show.

The singer - who lives with his former Hollyoaks star wife Jodi Albert and one-year-old son Koa - has been doing a lot of TV presenting since Westlife split and would love to combine his new career with his love of cooking.

Kian revealed: "I've always been the chef in our house, it's something I really enjoy doing. I love the satisfaction of cooking a nice meal for people.

"I've talked about a food show to quite a few people - any kind of food show that comes up I'd love to be a part of it.

"I'm experimental, I get out my cook books and learn bits and pieces here and there, and then
I won't look at a cook book for six months and I'll be putting the ingredients that I've learned about together. My weekly shop starts to expand and get a bit more exotic,
rather than just the bog standard things I used to cook a few years ago."

Kian, who returns shortly on the 'Voice of Ireland' judging panel, has already ruled out a solo singing career, following the break up of Westlife earlier this summer.

"I think the idea of going solo is a huge amount of pressure to get it all right, and coming out of a band that's been so successful, I think it's going to be a huge pressure for any of us to try and release solo music and make it as big and successful," the Sligo based star has said.

His friend and former band member
    Nicky Byrne,
has also expressed an interest in getting into TV work -
and recently competed in the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing,
as well as taking part in the Christmas Day RTE special
'The School Around the Corner' with Ray D'Arcy.

Kian Egan says he has no problems being
Mr Nasty when it comes to his judging role

    Brian McFadden set to

    quit Australia for Ireland return
By Paul Martin, Irish Daily Mirror 15/12/2011

BRIAN McFadden is set to make

a dramatic move home to Ireland - seven years

after he fled claiming he was

the "most hated man in the country".

    The star, 31, is planning

to quit Australia in the New Year and return to

Dublin where he grew up so

he can be closer to his family.

    Brian has been persuaded

it's the right time to move home

by his new love, model Vogue Williams.

    The star moved to Australia

    seven years ago to be

with his then fiancee, singer Delta Goodrem.

Since then he's landed a major

TV role as a judge on Australia's Got Talent

and enjoyed a rejuvenated music career.

    But pals say

the star desperately misses his daughters - Molly, 10,

and eight-year-old Lily Sue - who he has

    with ex-wife Kerry Katona.

    Now Dubliner Vogue has convinced

him it's time to come home.

A source revealed: "Brian is really excited

    and planning to buy somewhere

in Ireland and start over again.

"He will still spend four months of the year in Australia

because he has so many TV commitments.

"But now he has found love with Vogue

he sees it as an opportunity

to come back to his home country

and start seeing more of his family,

    especially his daughters."

Brian's girls live with reality star Kerry in Warrington,

    England, but currently

he only gets to see them twice a year.

    Brian and Vogue

have been dating since last May when

the Irish Daily Mirror revealed they were an item.

Three months ago she moved to Australia

to be closer to the former Westlife star and the couple's relationship

has been going from strength to strength.

    Brian McFadden Confirms

    Engagement to Vogue Williams
    2012

    Talking about his wedding to

    his girlfriend of eight months,

    the former Westlife singer tweets,

'Ill have to invite all my followers to the wedding.

Well have to get married in central park.'

Brian McFadden has asked his girlfriend of eight months,

    Vogue Williams,

    for her hand in marriage.

The "Just Say So" singer confirmed rumors

of his engagement to the Irish DJ in the latest issue

    of OK! Magazine,

    adding that he has told

his former fiancee Delta Goodrem about it.

"We've let [our exes] know out of respect,"

the former member of boyband Westlife shared.

    "They both went 'Great,

as long as you're happy' because they're

both happy as well and have moved on.

We don't have any nasty 'ex' animosity

with our recent partners." He added,

"Vogue and I are actually setting

a date and we're actually getting married."

    Speaking of his short courtship

    with 26-year-old Williams,

    the 31-year-old singer explained,

    "It's early [to be engaged]

when you think about how long we've been together,

    but not when you consider

    the amount of time

    we've spent together... we've literally

spent every second of every day together

    for eight months now."

    Having received congratulatory messages

    from his Twitter followers,

McFadden uploaded a picture of Williams

on the micro blogging site with a note,

"My beautiful wife to be x."

He later wrote to his new fiancee,

"Ill have to invite all my followers to the wedding.

Well have to get married in central park." Williams

    herself tweeted, "I'm engaged!!delighted!!"

    McFadden was previously

    married to Kerry Katona,

with whom he has two daughters.

He began dating Goodrem in 2004.

    They got engaged in 2007,

but called it off in April 2011.

Their joint statement at the time read, "

    This decision has been made

with a lot of soul searching from both

    parties with the realization

    that they have grown apart."

Our kiss was before Brian met Vogue,

    says McFadden girl

By NIAMH HORAN Entertainment News Reporter
    Sunday Feb 5 2012

'THE blonde socialite who was pictured

kissing Brian McFadden on a night

out has spoken exclusively to the Sunday Independent

to say the kiss happened months

before he fell for Irish model Vogue Williams.

The singer and his new fiancee

    had just returned from Ireland

    after celebrating with an engagement

    bash among family and friends

when the photographs of the star getting

    close with

the blonde blogger were leaked on to the internet.

    The woman is

named as Ruby Jacenko, a self-professed 'lifestyle guru'.

    Speaking yesterday,

    Ms Jacenko said

    she hooked up with

the singer when they were both single.

"It was just a bit of fun on a night out and

it was months before he got with Vogue.

    "I have met both

Brian and Vogue since -- a couple

    of months into

their relationship after they both moved in together --

and she seems like a lovely girl.

I think they seem like a great couple."

    Sources close to

the couple said last night that there was

"obvious upset" caused by the photographs.

    "They've just gotten engaged,

there was big celebrations at home,

everyone is so happy for them and then these emerge.

    Even though it happened

months before Vogue and Brian ever got together.

"They are very much looking forward to

spending the rest of their lives together,

the wedding is still very much

on and they are very much in love.

    They have laughed off

the pictures as nothing more than

a single lad on a night out.

He is completely head over heels for Vogue now."

    Ruby Jacenko,

    who runs the blog notgoinghome.com,

claims the pictures were taken last April,

after McFadden had split from his former fiancee,

    singer Delta Goodrem,

and before he hooked up with Williams.

    She said

    she wanted

    the images to remain private

and that the camera on which

they were taken was stolen from her office.

The 22-year-old said she has contacted

the police over the theft of the camera

    and other personal items.

"My iPad, computer and video camera were stolen.

It's sad because these were private photographs.

Brian and I were out partying,

having a laugh -- there was

nothing more to it than that."

    The 31-year-old Irish singer,

    who split from Delta Goodrem

in April of last year, asked

the 26-year-old DJ and model Vogue Williams

to marry him while he was touring

    with Stevie Nicks in November.

After posing for photos showing off the ring,

McFadden told the Australian edition of OK magazine:

    "It's early (to be engaged)

when you think about how long we've been together,

but not when you consider the amount

    of time we've spent together.

"We've literally spent every second of every day

    together for eight months now."

Brian Mcfadden Fights Back Over Cyber Bullies
    14 February 2012 16:03

    Irish singer Brian Mcfadden

has launched a foul-mouthed tirade on

his Twitter.com page attacking "cyber bullies"

    who stalk him online.

The former Westlife star was fuming

    when one fan posted

a string of derogatory messages aimed at him,

including poking fun at him for

not getting an invite to the Grammy Awards.

MCFadden decided he'd had enough of the torments

    and outed the Australian user,

named JohnRiot, on the microblogging site,

before challenging him to a fight.

In a string of messages he fumes,

    "Your a c**t face.

If you want a go let's do it.

I live in woolloomooloo. You know where I am.

    Bring it on juice junkie.

One on one... Hey steroids face johnriot

I am absolutely up for a one on one pikey fight.

You have insulted me and my family.

Let's end this!!! JohnRiot come on you old lesbian.

    Put your f**king money

where your juiced up mouth is!!!!!

    "F**k these cyber bullies!

    Let's take a stand!!!! F**k that.

Let's stoop to there (sic) level!!!!

    "Come on johnriot speak up.

Let's do it. Stop hiding behind the internet.

You know who I am and where I am! Stand up."

BRIAN McFadden had an epiphany last year.
The Irish singer/songwriter began singing mature,

emotional ballads as a young man in boy band Westlife,

then in a successful solo career.

But he had a musical second childhood

with the electro pop of Just Say So,

which debuted at No.1 in Australia and put him on

    radio stations that previously

had struggled to find room for his slower material.

McFadden abruptly changed musical direction -

    following

Just Say So with more radio-ready electro -

    but with diminishing returns.

    "People weren't making

the connection with a 31-year-old fat guy from

    Ireland singing songs

that should be sung by a good looking

    18-year-old with a six-pack," McFadden says.

    McFadden

was not the only pop artist guilty of changing

    tack for something sounding

    like commercial radio
"You want to be on the radio.

    And I was.

Just Say So was my biggest airplay hit and a No.1,

but you don't sell any albums

because people just like that one song.

That's not the kind of artist I am."

And so, his musical party days are over.

    There's a whole

    album of electro songs scrapped

    that would have been

the follow up to the Wall of Soundz project.

    Instead he's back to

writing songs on an acoustic guitar,

    rather than a synthesiser.

The first taste is single Wrap My Arms.

The B-side is a cover of

Adele's Someone Like You; the artist McFadden

notes has changed everything in the musical landscape.

    "Adele kick-started having classic-style songs

    played on radio," he says.

"Then came Ed Sheeran, (Christina Perri's) Jar of Hearts.

Radio was afraid to get back to slower songs.

It suits me, that's what I do best.

"I remember starting in the industry

and the whole idea of having a hit was making

a song that stands out from everything else.

Even I got into the trap of going into the studio

to make a song that would sit nicely on the radio

    with everything else."

    While McFadden

is working on what will be his fourth solo album,

these days his own career takes a back seat.

There's his job as a judge on Australia's Got Talent -

where he's seeing an influx of rock bands auditioning.

"Bands are hot again," he says.

"There's a lot of guys in their 30s auditioning

who have been gigging away for years."

He is also working behind the scenes.

Two local acts he's produced -

Penny Phillips and The Sunshine State -

    have albums due this year.

The video for Wrap My Arms features

    McFadden's fiancee,

Irish DJ and model Vogue Williams -

who will get her own moment in

the sun on this year's Dancing With the Stars

(McFadden is already preparing to have "the talk"

    with her dancing partner).

He credits Williams with making him

the happiest he's been. And the most sober.

"It's not the new me, it's the old me.

Once you hit 30 it's harder to bounce back.

I never got hangovers until last year.

I felt manhood properly kick in.

I wasn't in a boy band any more

where you can just keep on going," he says.

    Despite fan fantasies,

    McFadden will not be appearing

with the soon-to-split Westlife on their

farewell British tour for old times' sake.

    "They're touring while I'm doing

    Australia's Got Talent and

    I know who feeds me.

Actually, they both are (feeding me)," he says.

"Westlife have got a greatest-hits album out,

so I'm sitting here while they're out there

sweating their bollocks off making me

    money from royalties!"

    Brian McFadden tackles Bieber fan

    The former Westlife singer, 32,
was on the judging panel of Australia’s
Got Talent when the 18-year-old heart-throb
    was accosted as he performed.

Despite extra security lined-up to protect Bieber,
    super excited Amelia Radevaska, 14,
managed to make her way onto
the stage and pounce on him.

She was then seen kicking and screaming at McFadden
    — who once worked as a security man at McDonalds
    on Dublin’s O’Connell Street —
to let her go after he grabbed her.

    Amelia was heard screaming:
    “Stop it Brian, stop it”
as he restrained her but said after
the incident: “Justin told me he loved me and
it was all right just before I was dragged away.”

    Bieber defender Brian later tweeted
    how his two daughters,
    Molly, ten, and nine-year-old Lilly-Sue
    would be delighted with
    the two signed CDs
he got for them from the Canadian singer.

He said: “I’m going to have
    two very excited young girls
when I get back home in a few weeks time.”

    Meanwhile,
Brian is gearing up to wed
    his reality TV star
fiancee Vogue Williams, 25, in Florence,
    Italy, on September 2.
They plan to remain in Oz
    after their wedding and honeymoon.

    Former Westlife
    star Brian McFadden will tie
    the knot with Vogue Williams
in a luxurious Italian castle on September 2.

The singer, 32 will marry his bride, 27
    in Castello Di Vincigliata in
    Florence and
the pair are thought to be spending €220,000
    on the wedding,
    the ‘Irish Daily Mirror’ reports.

The couple will also host their joint
    stag and
hen party in the Italian city
as part of their four-day celebration.

    The castle,
which dates from the 13th century,
    offers views over
the Tuscan countryside and boasts ornate gardens.
Ceremonies are usually held on the lawn,
    followed by welcome cocktails
on the terrace in the garden.
    Guests will then enjoy
a romantic dinner in the courtyard with candles,
followed by coffee in the drawing-rooms,
with its original furniture and frescos.

A close friend of the couple said:
    “They’re going all
out for this wedding – this is going to
    be a massive party
that people will be talking about for years to come.

    “After looking through
all the options available to them in Florence,
    Brian and Vogue
both agreed to go with the Castello Di Vincigliata.

    “It’s just perfect for them,
as soon as they saw it they fell in love.
They’re both quite private people and
the castle will keep them hidden from media attention.

“They thought long and hard about
where to host their joint stag and hen but eventually
decided to do it before the wedding
    in Florence so both their
Irish and Aussie guests could make it.”

    Brian has picked Australian
    DJ Kyle Sandilands
as his best man and will
    have five other groomsmen,
    while Vogue,
    who announced last week
    that her wedding dress
    will be from Australian design
    house J’Aton,
will have six bridesmaids on the day.

It’s been reported that the couple
    will read out love
    letters during
the ceremony and doves will be released.

    Celebrity guests are expected to
    include Dannii Minogue
and Mel B who will travel to Italy for the big day.

    BRIAN McFadden
has been tipped to be fired as
a judge on Australia’s Got Talent as
TV bosses look to shake up the tired format.
    Last week’s f
final of the show was a ratings disaster
    prompting talk of
a new line-up for next season.

    Former Westlife star Brian, 32,
appears on the panel alongside fellow judges
    Dannii Minogue and Kyle Sandilands.

Talk that Bri is set to leave the Channel 7
    show escalated after his spat
with a station boss at the final of Dancing
    With The Stars in June.

    It was claimed McFadden
was riled over creative differences regarding a solo
TV project and had threatened to quit the network.

    He later denied this, saying:
“Do I look like someone who is about to resign?
    I am really happy here.
I only have to come to work one day a week.”

Getting hitched ... Vogue and Brian

    Yesterday Bri’s representative played
down talk that he’s been axed, stating:
    “None of them (the judges)
    have negotiated for next season.”

Dad-of-two Brian jets back to Ireland today
    with fiancée Vogue Williams
ahead of their September wedding in Italy.

The loved-up couple are due to arrive in Dublin Airport this morning.

McFadden’s rep was also forced to shoot down talk
that he was leaving Oz for good,
and explained that he is coming home
to Ireland to record tracks for a new album.
    Brian sparked alarm online
    after telling his Twitter followers
that he was leaving Oz, writing “so long Australia”.

But his rep said: “He is definitely returning.

“He has an album due to
    come out around Christmas and
    he is busy recording.”

    Dubliner Brian
is also set to work on new RTE talent show
The Hit while he is here.

He has been lined up as
one of the acts to judge on the show,
which will be fronted by MTV babe Laura Whitmore.

Most of the time Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden
go about their very separate lives
    with very little contact.

    Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden
are in a Twitter war. However,
    now and again
    Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden
    engage in an almighty
Twitter war where they both get very wound up.

    Kerry Katona goes on Twitter
rant after Brian McFadden dismisses their marriage]

That time came along again yesterday,
after Brian dismissed his first marriage to Kerry
    following his wedding
to Vogue Williams over the weekend.

    Brian McFadden
has now taken to Twitter again to vent his fury
after Kerry said she had no regrets
    about their relationship
as it produced their two daughters.

    Brian's angry fingers typed:
"Some people just can't let go of the past.
Even if it destroys the future.
I love my Kids but there
the best thing in my life that came from
    that shambolic relationship."

    He didn't stop there though.
He got a bit more cross and sweary.

    Brian continued:
"Now please f@+k off and let me and
    my wife enjoy our life.
With my Two girls. And to everyone else.
    Mind your own business."

He concluded: "I'm sick of everytime in my life
I'm happy some pr*** tries to destroy me."

    Wowzers.

    [Kerry Katona]
The whole thing started after Brian McFadden revealed at his wedding that
    he no longer acknowledges
    his marriage to Kerry Katona.

    He said:
"This is me getting married for the rest of my life -
    and a completely different life.
I was 18 or 19 when I got married the first time.
    I was in Westlife.
I had no idea what I was doing.
It wasn't till I was 30 that I turned into an adult."

Kerry wasn't very happy with Brian's comments,
though. She took to Twitter to fight back,
saying: "I will never let anyone take away
my first marriage not even my ex husband!
We may have been young but
I knew full well what I was doing!!!"

"And never in a million years would I ever dismiss it,
    especially bringing
two amazing children into it... Love mummy xxx."

    After Brian's latest outburst,
we reckon it's back over to Kerry...

    Brian McFadden’s best man
denies that partying reason for wedding no-show

    Monday Sep 10 2012

    Brian McFadden’s best man has
denied claims that he was too
drunk to attend his friend’s wedding.

    Australian DJ Kyle Sandilands
    did not turn up when
    the former Westlife singer married
Vogue Williams in Florence last Sunday,
despite flying to Italy for the event.

It was suggested that the DJ had gotten drunk
the night before and was too ill to attend the wedding.
    However Kyle dismissed those claims
and said that a severe migraine was to blame.

He told ‘The Irish Sun’@ “I travelled
and was up for 30 hours.
I didn’t go out the night before like everyone else did as I was f****d. I got a migraine
on the day and just couldn’t attend.
    Simple as that.”

Kyle, who is Brian’s fellow judge on ‘Australia’s
    Got Talent’,
    also said that
he was not the best man but only a member of the bridal party. He added:

    “That’s my devil, those headaches.
Can’t do a thing about it.”

    Meanwhile, the newlyweds
have returned to Australia after a short
    honeymoon in Italy
    . Vogue,
who has changed her name from Williams to McFadden
    on her Twitter account, tweeted:
    “Goodbye Dublin I’ll you!”

    Brian Mcfadden Pulls
    Tv Guest Slot Over Illness
    Irish singer Brian Mcfadden axed
a planned appearance on a reality
Tv show on Sunday (11Nov12) after falling sick.

    The former Westlife
star was due to film a slot as a
    panellist on Britain's I'm A Celebrity...
Get Me Out of Here Now!, a spin-off of the jungle-based survival show.

    He was taken ill
after travelling to the programme's location on Australia's Gold Coast and had to pull
his appearance at the last minute.

    MCFadden
    has since been stocking
    up on medication and hopes
to be well enough to film his segment on Tuesday (13Nov12) instead.

In a post on Twitter.com, he writes,
"Being sick sucks!!!!!... Hoping I'll be better in the morning
so I can go into the jungle for
I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
    Full of tablets and injection."

Among the huge crowd at a packed Croke Park were these Westlife fans in the front row who had travelled from Germany to see their idols

    Monday June 02 2008

WESTLIFE lived the dream as they wowed 82,000 fans at a sold-out Croke Park last night.

The Westlife lads arrived on stage to the sort of roar normally reserved for a goal by home team Dublin in the All-Ireland Final.

With an explosion of fireworks, and dwarfed by crazed dancers on stilts, they launched into 'Hit You With The Real Thing' then 'World of Our Own'.

The group tore through a selection of hits, including 'What Makes a Man' and 'Uptown Girl', which got the sea of fans, some wearing bunny ears and carrying banners, singing and dancing.

The set was huge, with massive screens beaming the boys' every move to the people below.

Kian Egan told the crowd it was a perfect 10th birthday present for the band.

"To be here in our national stadium in front of over 85,000 people is unbelievable," he said.

WESTLIFE celebrated their triumphant Croke Park concert over the weekend by partying into the early hours with friends and family at an exclusive after-show party.

The bash took place at Floridita on Dublin's Abbey Street. The band was joined by friends and family, including manager Louis Walsh and ex-Ireland soccer international David O'Leary.

Band members Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily made a quick dash to the Four Seasons Hotel after the gig to scrub up before arriving at the after show party.

The nightclub was decked out in Westlife regalia, including an ice sculpture commemorating the band's 10 years at the top of the charts.

No change, and it's for the better
    Westlife: Ashton Gate

    THERE are some things

    you can bet your mortgage
that Westlife will do at a concert.
    Brilliant key changes,
    numerous costumes and
    slick dance routines are
    the glue that has held
    Mark Feehily, Shane Filan,
    Kian Egan and
    Nicky Byrne
    together over
    these past 12 years.

    What has changed about
    Westlife is the appearance
of electric guitars in their set,
    one of which Nicky
    played during an
    inspired cover of
Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon.

    Featuring more
electric guitars were Bristol's very own
    The Fuel, who had won
    an Evening Post competition
    to be first support
    act here and they
    savoured every minute.
    With their long flowing hair
    and confident swaggers,
    this is the kind of
    stage these boys belong on.

    The second support
    act was Wonderland,
    an immaculately styled
    girlband managed
    by Kian and Louis Walsh.

    Westlife appeared on the stage
    in front of
the Atyeo Stand to rapturous applause,
launching straight into Where We Are,
the title track from their latest album.

Pyrotechnics were fired into the air,
    and returned two songs later
for When You're Looking Like That,
    when
    the band members
could first show off their dance moves.
    These dance moves
    returned for Uptown Girl,
a cover of the Billy Joel classic
    which Westlife released as
a charity single for Comic Relief in 2001.

What followed can only be described
    as a comedy interlude,
as Nicky told a joke about
    Ryanair boss
    Michael O'Leary and then
    read out some of the
    banners in the crowd.

If people still carried lighters to concerts,
    they would have been in
the air for Flying Without Wings.
This is 2010, so a vuvuzela blown by
    one fan joined the calls
    for an encore, which
    Westlife appeared for in
    Rat Pack-style suits
    to sing
    I'll See You Again and
    You Raise Me Up.

    This was a fantastic concert
by a band who adapt with
    the times but never change
    the aspects that made them
    one of the most successful
and popular acts of all time.

    Irish boyband Westlife

have announced the release of their 11th album,

which is due out November 15.

The band, who recorded the album in both London and the US, worked with the legendary John Shanks (of Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus,

Take That and Bon Jovi fame)

    on the new record.

WESTLIFE could quite easily sit back,
    admire how successful
    they've been and hang up
    their microphones.

    But despite
being one of the most successful boy bands ever to have lived, Westlife boys Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily
    and Shane Filan are hungrier
and more motivated than ever before.

As OK.co.uk catch up with them at a swanky London hotel they are busy promoting their 11th album Gravity -
and seem just as fired up for their latest video,
    their next tour and their
upcoming X Factor 2010 performance as
if they were brand new to the music scene.

Westlife think their new album is the most real

    and personal they
    have ever written.

    The Irish band comprising
Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan are set to release their 11th album, Gravity, later this month.
The group are struggling to comprehend
    how successful they have been,
    and can't believe
they have been in the industry for so long.

They are all proud of their latest release, with Nicky explaining it's the album they have had the most input on.

    We're a lot older now,
so if you look at someone like
    [British boyband] JLS,
their fan base is so young so everybody is rushing out and downloading their stuff.
I suppose it's the same with
Take That as well, where the older you get and the longer you're in the market it's a little bit more difficult,
Nicky explained, when asked if he gets nervous when debuting material. We are 12 years in,
we have a new single and a new album and it really feels special. We worked with a guy in America,
we wrote a lot of this album. For the first time
this album feels real, it feels personal and like we got involved.

Kian was equally as glowing about the new record,
and took time to tell fans how much the group appreciate their support.
He is still shocked that so
many people have stuck by the group for 12 years,
and says performing live is one of the things he enjoys most.

We feel like we're here 12 years later still doing it, still being a part of Westlife. So many people out there are still continuously going out, buying tickets for our concerts, buying our albums... it's amazing, he told a UK TV show.

    on 20th November 2010

Manager Louis Walsh was forever on their backs.

There were fights, rivalries and days of deep,
    dark despair.
    Not to mention guilt over
the sacking of early band members
    who were their best friends.
'I know the success story seemed to speak for itself,' says Nicky Byrne.

'We were riding the crest of the wave in terms of income and lifestyle. But probably only Take That and Boyzone can ever know what it was really like.

'We know now we can just be men': From left:
Westlife members Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan
'Louis was always on at you.
The first thing he'd say when I walked in the room was:
"Your teeth are fecking terrible." What did he want me to do?
They were my teeth. I remember saying once:
"Your teeth are fecking horrible, too."
He said: "I know but I'm not on TV." I went and got a brace.' Kian Egan chips in: 'We lived in fear of Louis.
    He was like: "You're done.
I'm going to kick you out of the band. I'm going to put you on the next plane home.
Only four people can fit in a taxi, not five."'

    Shane picks up the thread,
breaking into a rather brilliant impression of the X Factor judge:
'"Shane, you don't look great. Your hair's terrible.
    You look fat. Watch yourself,
there are only three Bee Gees."

'We were definitely scared of him. He was a very powerful man - only a tenth as powerful as he is now - but the best manager in the world for us.'

    In truth, he was.
In little more than a decade, Louis, along with Simon Cowell, who signed them to his Sony BMG record label,
made the boys rich beyond their
    wildest dreams, with 14 number
    one hit singles and
    44 million record sales worldwide.

Last Sunday, they appeared with Take That and JLS on The X Factor, as Cowell's last remaining act (boy band One Direction) fought to stay in the competition.

'One Direction have got it all to come,' says Nicky. 'When we look back over Westlife, I'm sure there's a movie in there somewhere.'

'We've always had this squeaky clean image,'
says Nicky. 'At the start, we were put in these almost feminine white outfits and given cheesy dance routines,
but that's not who we were.'
    Indeed, but not the happy,
clappy version that the music industry has long had us believe. I meet the members of Westlife
in a swanky London hotel, where they're sprawled comfortably in squishy armchairs, revealing, with astonishing honesty, the truth about their success - and their true feelings about former band member Brian McFadden - for the first time.

The boys, you see, aren't really boys anymore. They're into their 30s now with wives (Nicky,
Shane and Kian are married), partners (Mark Feehily, who came out as gay five years ago,
lives with his long-term partner Kevin McDaid) and children (Nicky and Shane are parents). Time enough to tell it the way it was.

'We've always had this squeaky clean image,' says Nicky. 'At the start, we were put in these almost feminine white outfits and given cheesy dance routines, but that's not who we were. Eventually you have to say:
"This isn't the way I want to do this. That's not the song I want to sing."

'We know now we can just be men.
    That's a lot more honest.
Things like Mark coming out make you realise you have to be. We lost dads.' He gestures to Kian who, like Nicky,
    lost his father last year.

'You realise that life is too short. When my dad died, it was time to grow up and be a man. Having kids changes you too.'

Kian continues: 'We used to slag each other off. It became abusive to the point where people were hurt.
Him over there,' he nods at Mark.
'We used to call him fat lips.
'One Direction have got it all to come': The group pose with the X Factor boyband after performng on last week's results show
    'Because he was quiet,
we used to pick on him even more. We called him weirdo and used to say: "Go on off to your closet, hang upside down and read your book."

'We went through a huge roll of emotions with each other.
    We all got upset.
We were all in arguments over silly things like who sat in that seat first, and then it would snowball into:
    "You're fat. You're this or you're that."'

Mark nods: 'Once or twice a week, the public would see us for a few minutes in our perfectly preened and tailored outfits with our perfect hair and make-up, singing this lovely, pure love song that was not urban and not rock. So we'd show this happy, public face, but there's another you when you're in the hotel room.

'Back then, all I wanted to do was go home for a long, long time. It wasn't all bad, but there were a lot of feelings that started to creep into my mind. I didn't want to be there getting picked apart by everyone.

'My weight's always fluctuated from chubby to above normal and I didn't like my bad points being pointed out. I didn't think anyone had the right. There was a time I was very unbalanced.

'I'm involved in charities in Ireland now. One is called Aware and it is based around suicide, particularly in young kids. It's something that's very close to my heart. I'm not saying I ever planned anything, but you go to quite a deep, dark place and there's no one to turn to.
'I'm lucky. I'm living proof it's better to not choose [suicide], and fight your way through it. But it wasn't easy. I buried my feelings of unhappiness deep inside myself.

'We were Westlife, the most famous band in the world, probably, bar America. I couldn't go home. We were the poster children for the big dream coming true.'

Mark was one of the six young lads from Sligo, western Ireland, who dreamed of pop success. For him, he says, it was all about music. He never wanted to be famous. Shane did. 'I wanted the applause, the admiration,' he says.

'I didn't want to just be a pop star. I wanted to be the biggest pop star on the planet.' As did Kian. He was one of seven children and says music was his life. He, Shane and Mark, together with three other local Sligo lads (Derrick Lacey, Graham Keighron and Michael Garrett) put a CD together and sent it to Louis.
'We were definitely scared of him': The boys with former manager Louis Walsh
Shane explains: 'My mother was from the same town as Louis. They actually knew each other so she rang him and said: "My son's in a boy band. I think you should see them."

And so the boys met him, only to be immediately confronted by the brutal, cut-throat nature of the music industry. Kian says: 'We handed him the CD with pictures of the six of us. He covered one of the guy's heads with his thumb and said: "Looks much better, doesn't it?"'

That guy was Derrick, the first of the Sligo six to be booted out of the band. 'We were supporting the Backstreet Boys and Derrick was jumping around all over the place on stage. Louis called me and said: "I'll manage you, but you'll have to do one thing." I asked: "What's that? We'll do whatever it takes."

'He goes: "Get rid of the big guy." No disrespect to Mark, but I thought he was talking about him. I said: " Louis, you can't get rid of him. His voice is insane." He was like: "No, no, no. Not the singer. The big guy who's jumping around like a lunatic up there. Get rid of him."'

Derrick was Shane's best friend and it fell to him to break the news. 'It was fecking horrendous,' says Shane. 'It was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to tell somebody. It was like I was saying: "We can't be friends any more because I'm going off to do this band with Louis Walsh and you're not invited."'

Are they friends now? 'No,' says Shane. 'I saw him the other day and he waved to me. We've had a couple of conversations, but I'm sure that he despises Westlife. He's still a nice guy but I don't know if he'll ever get over it.'

Kian interrupts: 'Of course he's upset. They're all upset. You're driving around in Bentleys and Ferraris, living in a castle at the top of the hill and he's working in a pub.' Shane considers this: 'It's like winning the lottery and then getting the ticket taken off you.'

Within a matter of weeks, Graham, Kian's best friend, was also dropped from the band. Michael soon followed when Louis auditioned Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden, as he sought to create the perfect, clean-cut boy band.

Shane says: 'We began to think there'll be nobody fecking left. We all thought we'd be next for the chop. It was cut-throat.' Nicky agrees: 'When Michael was let go, Louis was in the room.

'The tour manager called out the names of who was going to be in the band. Michael had his head down and Louis was winking at me going, "You're safe." When Michael lifted his head up, Louis would go deadpan.

'Then the tour manager said the five members are, bang, bang, bang, and not Michael. Michael's phone rang and he threw it across the room. We all stood up, slapped him on the shoulder and walked out of the room.

'Louis walked out, head down. The moment the door closed, Louis was bouncing around: "Did you ring your mother? Here, ring your mother," and gave me his mobile phone.'

Within days, the boys were being spun into a wholesome boy band for the teen market. Louis dressed them in white, sat them on stools and edited Shane's childhood sweetheart, Gillian (now his wife and mother to their three children), out of the mix.

'I had to hide my relationship,' says Shane. 'It was drilled home that girlfriends were not part of the boy-band image. Except for Nicky's.

He was dating Prime Minister Bertie Ahern's daughter, Georgina.' Again, Shane apes Louis: 'Use it. It's a good story.'

The lads all laugh. There is an easy humour and obvious close friendship between them these days, something that was wholly absent in the early years. Kian says: 'We were five 19-year-old guys in a hotel in London.

'What were we going to do with ourselves? We had no money. We were given £15 a day, if that, for food by our record label. We were just doing silly things to pass the time. We used to wrestle each other to the point it would get serious.'

Shane chips in: 'I remember picking up Brian and throwing him across the bed and on to the floor. You start getting aggressive. And with a five-piece band, someone always has to stand in the middle.

'We're glad he left': Former Westlife member Brian McFadden with his fiancee Delta Goodrem
'That was a huge issue for us and it's one that One Direction have ahead of them. Louis had already managed Boyzone, and Ronan Keating was the front man with the other four just standing around him, before he went solo.

'We didn't want that to happen to our band. So they certainly didn't want me and Mark standing in the middle. We did most of the singing. If we were allowed to get too big, that would be dangerous. All of a sudden, one member leaves and the band's f***ed.'

Which is of course what happened when, six years after Westlife was formed, Brian, who had forged a high-profile relationship with Kerry Katona, wanted out. This is the first time the boys have spoken openly about his departure.
'We were at a press conference following a music award,' says Nicky. 'Kerry was in the jungle and every single question was directed to Brian about her. When we left the room, we had an argument.

'We said: "We know you had to answer the question, by why didn't you move things on to why we're actually here?" He didn't like that. We'd had a few drinks and Brian slunk off back to his dressing room saying he was leaving.

'I thought: "OK, yeah," and ignored him. The next day he had a photoshoot. The hairdresser rang me up and said: "He's serious." That frightened me because he'd sobered up.
'The next day we had rehearsals because we were touring in three weeks. He turned up and started to rehearse, not mentioning a thing.

'At the end of rehearsals, we decided to meet to talk that evening. He came in, sat down and said: "I want to hang up my boots. I've given six years to Westlife. Now I've got two kids. I want to be at home and can't devote time to both."

'We begged him to stay, offered to go to counselling. We said we're doing something wrong, let's get to the bottom of it. Don't let this great thing go if it's just about a daft argument. These are silly things we can fix." But he didn't want to know. He left and we called Louis.'

Shane continues: 'Louis said: "There were only four in the Beatles." But that night was the first time the bubble slightly burst. No band had survived one of their members leaving - not the Spice Girls, not Take That.

'We said to Louis: "Do you think it will work?" He said: "Trust me. It'll work."' Which, of course, it did. While Brian met with moderate success as a solo artist, Westlife went from strength to strength, with three more number one albums in the UK and numerous awards.

Shane says: 'All of a sudden, the rows over standing in the middle, the slagging each other off, all went out the window. Suddenly these three people became the most important people to me and my career.'

His fellow band members agree. 'We're glad he left,' says Kian. 'We're a better band without him. I don't think we'd be the band we are today if he was still in it. He understands that.

'Now we don't take anything for granted. We just live every day, every album, every song, because you don't know what's round the corner. Now we don't care what you call us - men or boys. As long as we're successful, that's the only compliment we need.'

And what does Louis think? 'Oh we're all fond of Louis,' says Shane. 'Simon's now doing to him what he did to us, so he's gone and got everything done.

'His hair's browner, his teeth are whiter and he seems to be using moisturiser a bit more too.'

Again, he launches into an impression of Louis and, again, his band mates are in stitches. Me too.

SINGER Brian McFadden is begging Westlife to let him rejoin them - so they can challenge Take That in the charts.
Brian, 30, who quit the Irish boyband in 2004, tweeted:
    "I had a dream
I was back on stage with Westlife playing some crazy-sized football stadium.

Westlife star says they nearly split up

Westlife star Mark Feehily has said that the group considered splitting up last year.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: "We talked about it long and hard last April. We came close to throwing in the towel."

"Financially we could have retired - we could retire tomorrow. But it wasn't about that."

"The music started to become about how many units we sold rather than about us making something we felt passionate about."

"It was partly why we took a break for a year back in 2008."

Nicky Byrne said: "We talked about why we were doing Westlife and we agreed it was because we loved it."

"We're passionate about the band and so we decided that if we were to come back, we'd come back on our own terms."

X Factor: Westlife star Kian Egan says show stifle other pop acts
    By Dean Piper 28/11/2010

Westlife star Kian Egan says The X Factor is stifling other pop acts - stopping them enjoying the chart success the deserve.

The outspoken singer says he wishes it was easier for new groups to make their mark without appearing on the talent show.

Kian, 30, says: "There are some great pop acts out there. There's The Saturdays, Professor Green, N-Dubz and The Wanted.

"But they have to work so hard to get into the charts and they're up against the huge machine of The X Factor.

"We should be celebrating this sort of talent, giving new pop acts the credit they deserve. The music industry is hard enough as it is."

Kian says he is a fan of former X Factor contestants Olly Murs, JLS and Diana Vickers - but feels they have had an easier ride from the industry. He said: "If you've been on the show then it's easier to get a hit nowadays. It's not that the acts are rubbish - they're far from it. But the amount of them makes it tough for new acts to break through. It's almost like if you haven't been on the show then you can't have a success these days."

Kian, who has sold 40 million albums with Westlife, also revealed the boyband will never again let ex-bandmate Brian McFadden perform with them.

Earlier this week Brian, who left in March 2004, tweeted his Twitter followers saying he dreamt of rejoining.

But Kian says: "Brian will never come back into Westlife. It's nearly seven years since he left now and we've all moved on.

"Its not in a 'forget you' kind of way. It's in a 'he left us so long ago now' way.

"He called me after his Twitter comments the other day. Did Brian regret walking out on Westlife? Probably, yes.

"Also, to be totally honest he almost cost us what we had worked so hard for when he walked out on us.

"At the end of the day he walked out on my band. We could have easily ended and been over for good because of him.

"We talk nowadays and don't get me wrong there's no bad air between him and us. But we're happy the way we are."

Kian says he is now concentrating on the band's new album and tour DVD, as well as his work as manager of girl group Wonderland.

His wife, Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert, is a member of the band.

    Westlife star dismisses split reports
    Wednesday 1 December 2010

According to a report in Daily Star, Feehily previously said: "We talked about it long and hard last April. We came close to throwing in the towel."

In a posting on his Twitter page, the singer later said: "Westlife were not close to splitting up in April 2009."

"We reached a Y (fork) in the road&said we MIGHT AS WELL stop unless we did it right! X (sic)".

Westlife: 'We became a tribute act'
    02 December 2010

Irish boyband Westlife have revealed that they were unhappy performing covers on their previous albums.

In an interview with a British newspaper, the group discussed their discomfort at being forced to continually release covers of other people's songs. "We were sick of doing covers and didn't want to turn into a tribute act." said Shane Filan.

Westlife claimed that they had to stand up to Simon Cowell, who manages their record label, because they feared that they were becoming a tribute band.

"Simon Cowell might run our record label but we had to put our foot down with him. We didn't want to be that band going on The X Factor then releasing one single and then going on tour. We wanted to make a proper album and to be able to put out three or four singles from it."

He continued: "We're in our 30's now and wanted to go back to the kind of stuff we were making when we first came out: big, original pop songs."

In the interview, band member Mark Feehily also revealed that Cowell was keen on them releasing a movie themes tribute album: "Simon bandied about the idea of a 'Westlife at the movies' album but we said no. It wasn't close to our heart and it felt like we were moving away from what we were all about."

WATCH out for an entirely fresh live set for next year Westlife tour.

The manband UK and Ireland arena tour, planned for March, will be bigger and better than ever.

Shane Filan, 31, told me: We have a new musical director, who brought on a new band.

Tonight was our first time playing together, so it was good to do that before we start tour rehearsals in January.

We want to bring together some new ideas.
But after Mark Feehily's partner Kevin McDaid, 26, produced the gorgeous photos used in their latest artwork, he is set to stay on.

Mark, 30, said: Kevin and I are such a good partnership, and I'm heavily involved in our artwork selection so it makes sense he will do our tour programme again like last time.

The Irish foursome will push the button on the National Lottery show on Saturday but won't be rushing home to watch The X Factor final.
Nicky Byrne, 32, explained: My twin sons Rocco and Jay are performing in their first Christmas nativity on Sunday so I need to get back for that.

As if that wasn't cute enough to make me coo, Nicky admitted he and Shane go on man dates when away from their wives and nippers.

He added: Shane and I go to the cinema and Nandos.

Louis Walsh has hit out at the judging panel on this year’s The Voice Of Ireland series, or half of them at least.

The Corrs musician Sharon Corr, Westlife member Kian Egan, British singer Jamelia and The Blizzards’s lead vocalist/guitarist Bressie all judge on the RTE series and Louis thinks that two of the four stars are undeserving of their seats.

In a new interview the long serving X Factor star and Westlife boss revealed that he is  unsurprisingly  backing his boy Kian Egan but thinks that Bressie is nothing but a ‘pretty face’ while he wants Irish singer Samantha Mumba to take Jamelia’s place.

Walsh confessed that he has never even watched the show which airs in his home country, however he has strong opinions on it’s lineup and has taken Kian’s side in his recent war of words with Niall Breslin, claiming that he is no use as a coach as he has never had a bit record.

Bressie, I mean, he’s never sold a record. How can he judge anybody? If he’s just there for his looks, he should be on Ireland’s Next Top Model,” he told The Herald.

Walsh isn’t a fan of Jamelia either and continued:

I have never heard of her: they should have got Samantha Mumba.

I haven’t seen it at all, but I hear Kian is stealing the show. There are four judges on the show and two of them have been in successful bands – Kian and Sharon. I think they’re really good.”

VOICE coach Jamelia has admitted the greatest shock of the show so far was learning that Kian Egan has singing talent.
The chart-topping British babe, 32, who has signed up to become an Irish Sun columnist, will return to Dublin for the live shows at The Helix this weekend.

And Jamelia got a shock when she took to the stage with Kian, Bressie and Sharon Corr to prepare for their first group performance as coaches.

She told the Irish Sun: “I was a bit nervous to be honest, I was up there going, ‘God, I’m singing with Kian from Westlife.

“I thought Kian probably wasn’t going to be able to sing all that well, just because of all the stuff Bressie said during the auditions about sitting on stools and things with Westlife.

“But he has got a really good voice — Kian can sing.”

Former Westlife star Brian McFadden has reacted angrily to claims that he and fiancee Delta Goodrem's relationship is on the rocks.

The Dubliner jetted back to his adopted home of Australia last week to be with his singer girlfriend for the New Year celebrations, having spent Christmas at home in Dublin with his his two daughters, Molly (9) and Lilly Sue (7).

It had been claimed that the couple, who have been together for five years, were on the verge of splitting after Delta missed the Christmas celebrations in Brian's family home in Artane.

Delta was forced to cancel her trip to Ireland when she had to reschedule a performance at the Sydney Opera House for Christmas Eve.

Delta had originally been due to take to the stage for her Christmas Carols and Hits concert on, December 6, but had to cancel due to illness, postponing the performance to December 24.

A family insider today insisted that there is no truth to reports that Brian jetted home for crisis talks with the former Neighbours actress.

"Him and Delta are fine," said the family source. "They're still rock solid. I don't know where these rumours come from.

"Everyone was disappointed she couldn't make it to Dublin for Christmas but these things happen. They had plans for New Year's Eve and that's why he went back. No other reason.

"I think we would have heard about it if they were on the rocks," they added.

Meanwhile Brian was determined to assure fans that all was well, posting the following comment on his Twitter page.

"What would we do without the English press? Just when I thought Delta and I were happy they let me know we're not. Thanks I almost missed it," he wrote.

The couple had been due to marry this Christmas in Bali, however, last May Brian announced that the wedding had been postponed, explaining that they did not want to get married while they were on tour.

The former Westlife singer was quick to insist that their relationship was fine, blaming "increased work commitments" for the delay.

Despite the absence of his other half at Christmas, the dad of two made the most of his time at home, enjoying plenty of quality time with his family.

Brian took his daughters to see their idol Miley Cyrus in concert during his visit home for the holidays.

MCFADDEN TO FRONT BOYBAND SHOWBRIAN MCFADDEN is putting his time in Irish group WESTLIFE to good use - he's fronting a new show chronicling the drama of putting together a boyband.
MCFadden shot to fame with the Flying Without Wings hitmakers in 1999, but quit in 2004 to pursue a solo career.
Now the 29 year old has teamed up with Australian DJ Kyle Sandilands for a show documenting the creation of a five-piece boyband.
Sandilands says, "It follows what happens in a group and how you take a boy band and market them.
"It will go through how a song is written, what life is like on the road - because he (MCFadden) has experienced that - and hearing his stories. His journey and all the shenanigans, we thought it would be appealing. It's more a documentary, not a reality show so much and how they go from five guys to a Westlife or 'N Sync."
Auditions for the new group kick off in Melbourne, Australia later this month (Feb10).

Brian McFadden, formerly of Irish Boyband Westlife, will sing in the Hennessy Artistry 2009 concert in Hanoi on October 6.

CRISIS TALKS: McFadden 3rd January 2010 By Daily star reporter
BRIAN McFadden begged for crisis talks with fiancée Delta Goodrem in a bid to rescue their relationship.

The singer, 29, jetted out to Australia last Wednesday to talk to the stunning former Neighbours star.

The singer told pals he was furious
when Delta snubbed an offer to spend Christmas at his Dublin home with his children Molly, nine, and Lilly-Sue. seven.

Delta, 24, cancelled at the last minute, insisting she was still suffering from an allergic reaction to cold medication.

Pals say Brian, her lover of five years, fears their relationship is heading down the billabong.

He flew back to Sydney and arranged to meet Delta on New Year"s Eve to plead for a final chance.

Over the past five years Brian has blown an estimated £3million.

And he confessed his spending on poker and flashy cars has driven a wedge between the once happy couple.

In May the ex-Westlife hunk said they were postponing their wedding which had been due to take place in Bali last month.

He insisted that their relationship was fine and said they didn"t want to marry while he was on his solo tour.

     Westlife invited to Brian's wedding

Brian said he is planning to invite the other member of Westlife to his wedding with Australian singer Delta Goodrem. No date has yet been set for the big day but it is expected Brian will marry his pop star fiancee in 2009. The father-of-two, who was previously married to Kerry Katona, said: "It's more realistically going to be 2009, due to our massive workload. We don't want our wedding to be squeezed in between Delta doing a gig and me shooting a video. We want to have space and time to enjoy it."

The four remaining Westlife members - Mark Feehily, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan - all attended his first wedding to former Atomic Kitten Kerry. But Brian said he was not sure the boys could go this time. "I'll be inviting them. Whether they come or not is a different matter," he said. "It'll be hard enough to plan a wedding around our schedules, let alone theirs."

15th March 2009 - Brian About Westlife On The Late Late Show

Pat Kenny: What about Westlife? I mean, there were so many saying that when you left it would stop. In fact it hasn't, it's got even bigger maybe.
Brian: Well I think what was the great thing about Westlife was that not one member was ever bigger than the rest. It was, the five of us together was great but then you'd take one out, it never made a difference. There was many times that one member would be sick and the band was still strong. Then the boys are so hungry as well, you know, they really love what they do and there'll be a long time till they stop.

Pat Kenny: yeah, do you've any regrets though when you look back and you think 'It was a great time ok bit for straiting aways but...'?
Brian: No regrets at all. The one regret I've had was when I'd seen the boys playing Croke Park. That was a kick in the ass, I swear to God. I was still in Australia and I was watching it on the news and I was just like 'Woooah!'. Cause the one thing we said from day one was 'One day we wanna play Croke Park. We've seen Gareth Brooks playing there and U2 and we'd said the day we'd made it the day we'd play Croke Park and I never got to. Anyways I played Lansdown Road which was amazing and Markevich Park in Sligo but...

Pat Kenny: But you nearly got to play Croke Park. I mean, there were plans on foot when you were still in the band to play Croke Park and it never happened. Why didn't happen?
Brian: I don't know. I think Croke Park kinda put on something like four concerts a year or certain amount and they'd always reached that number by the time we decided to do it, so we had to setle for Lansdown Road which was still a nice place to play.

Pat Kenny: So it never happened though. That's the big regret you have.
Brian: But they've done it now and I was watching all the clips on Youtube and it looked amazing. That's the one thing since I've left the band that I'm watching all 'Woah...'. I wish I'd been there for that.

Pat Kenny: What about your solo carrer as a musician / songwritter?
Brian: Solo career has been great. Well it was really interesting going over there because it was the first place in the world I've gone to where Westlife we hadn't really had much success there so there nobody really knew. You know, they're not like here where Westlife is a household name. It was pretty unknown when I went over there so people had no idea who I was so I was really starting from scratch again.

Pat Kenny: You go back to the glory days of Westlife and you had tens of thousand people at your fingertips... (talking about how Brian now performs in front of small audiences in contrast to his days in Westlife)
Brian: Yeah... But I did that. You know, I did that and now it's nice to start from scratch again cause hopefully one day I'll be back playig the same level again on my own. But it takes a long time and you know, we were, Westlife were a one off thing and that doesn't happen everyday. And the chances to doing that twice are not likely but I really enjoy the hunt of chasing it again. Like you know, every time something happens like when my album went Gold in Australia for me that was massive. In the Westlife days if the album didn't go Platinum we were all upset. But now getting Gold or, you know, just achieving something it just feels so great.

I was an arrogant idiot, admits Brian McFadden

Mar 29 2008 Beverley Lyons And Laura Sutherland

BRIAN McFadden admits he was an arrogant idiot who believed his own hype when he embarked on his first solo deal after quitting Westlife.

He claims his already large ego grew in 2004 following the success of first single Real To Me, which led to an album deal with the record giant Sony BMG.

He said: "You do start to believe your own hype. I was very arrogant. And because of the money they spent and the deal I got there was not enough for them to make a profit.

"I could have not taken the p*** with my deal and sold 800,000 albums and everyone would have money. But I had to be an idiot."

The Irish star's confession comes as he launches a second solo album, Set In Stone, on his own label and amid news that he asked - and was turned down - to rejoin Westlife last year.

Brian, 27, says he insisted on being treated like a proper star and wanted no expense spared.

He said: "I had to have first-class flights for me and my team that I didn't need, but I wanted to take advantage for the things they'd done in the past."

His management negotiated huge royalty points for every album sold and he insisted on his team being given two cars at all time - one for smokers, one for non-smokers. He said: "I even had a hairdresser on a retainer of £100,000 a year. It was ridiculous.

"They'd taken the p*** out of us in Westlife for so long, so many things annoyed me, so I took the p*** out of them in my deal. And it came back to bite me in the a**e."

Brian reckons his first album was doomed due to his split with Kerry Katona and fresh relationship with Delta Goodrem, which left his fans with a bad taste in their mouths.

He said: "I could have taken the 10 biggest-selling songs from around the world that year for my album and I still wouldn't have sold anything. It's frustrating."

Brian believes Sony BMG got their revenge when he was due to make his second solo album, telling Australia's Herald Sun that their A&R man tried to pigeonhole him.

Brian said: "He'd play me the No.1 that week - James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, Scissor Sisters - and say 'You need to sound more like that'. But I don't want to be James Blunt, I want to be Brian McFadden.

"The pigeonhole of the song he wanted me to write kept shrinking - no love lyrics, no hate lyrics, no dark melodies. I lost my rag."

Brian split with Sony BMG and believes funding his own material on his label BMF records was the best move he could make. He said: "From there things took off. Every song I wrote I could decide if it was good enough."

Set In Stone is due for release in the UK in the summer.

    McFadden: Westlife fans were 'nuts'
    Sunday, November 2 2008, 00:22 GMT

    By Michael Thornton

Brian McFadden has admitted that he struggled to deal with the enthusiasm of Westlife fans.

The singer left the boyband in 2004 after six years and has since attempted to forge out a solo career. Now he claims to have a more sedate following than in his time with the group.

"Back in the Westlife days I might have thought: 'Not you again'. The fans did get a bit much, but they were very young, of course," he said.

"It's not like that now because a lot of my fans are in their 20s or my age, but yes, back in the Westlife days it was like: 'Oh my God, here they come again - they're nuts!'"

Brian McFadden has caused controversy by reportedly having a fiery exchange with a British contestant on 'Australia's Got Talent'.

The former Westlife singer is a judge on the programme, and it is alleged an argument broke out on the set of the talent show after a 50-year-old mother of two, Anne Ferguson-Howe, completed a comedy routine and was being questioned by the panel of judges.

Ferguson-Howe reportedly commented on another judge's controversial background at which point it is claimed McFadden "pulled his mike off, climbed on stage and very cleverly, without anyone hearing, said: 'Why don't you just **** off back to England,"

AdvertisementSydney's Daily Telegraph reports Ferguson-Howe as saying: "I'm a thick-skinned woman of 50 who loves a laugh but if it had been a 20-year-old girl the size I am with low self-esteem I think I would have gone home and shot myself."

A spokesperson for Channel 7, which broadcasts the show, said: All contestants who take part in the auditions know what to expect . the exchange was unacceptable and didn't fit with the vibe of the show, so it was deleted."

McFadden was so amazed by the youngster that he ran on stage and kissed him on the cheek.

He said: "You are a superstar I can just go home now. Job done."

The Irish star's annual Christmas ritual is to take in film after film - an activity that can only be rivaled by the unwrapping of gifts. He says, "The best thing about Christmas is all the presents and the films that are on the telly. All the movies that are on like Star Wars and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and
