Tricot dans la mode: un fil à dénouer
Van 16 maart tot en met 14 augustus 2011 presenteert het MoMu de tentoonstelling
ONTRAFEL. Tricot in de mode.
Deze tentoonstelling laat de bezoeker kennismaken met een uitgebreide waaier aan topstukken in tricot, met de klemtoon op ontwerperkleding en haar alledaagse interpretatie. Een uitgelezen selectie van internationale en nationale ontwerpers en modehuizen (Ann Salens, Vivienne Westwood, Sonia Rykiel, Missoni), historische couture stukken (Schiaparelli, Patou, Chanel) en meer gedurfde, avant-garde silhouetten van zowel bekende ontwerpers als nieuwkomers op de internationale modescène (Sandra Backlund, Maison Martin Margiela, Mark Fast) zullen worden gecombineerd om de rijkdom en diversiteit van gebreide kledingstukken in de mode te illustreren.
De tentoonstelling zal de belangrijkste decennia voor tricot in de mode onder de aandacht brengen, en daarmee de populariteit van tricot aantonen zowel op als naast de catwalk. Hiermee ontrafelt de tentoonstelling de veranderende status van de relatie tussen mode en breiwerk.
Het MoMu en Woolmark, presenteren met Ontrafel. Tricot in de Mode, een mix van hedendaagse en klassieke modehuizen, installaties van jonge ontwerpers en historische stukken. De tentoonstelling stelt gevestigde ideeën over breigoed in vraag en toont zo dat tricot, verre van ouderwets, veelzijdig en luxueus is, en een blijvende inspiratiebron voor de modewereld.
De begeleidende tentoonstellingscatalogus wordt uitgegeven in samenwerking met Lannoo (vanaf 16 maart 2011).

UNRAVEL. Knitwear in fashion
From 16 March till 14 August 2011 MoMu presents the exhibition UNRAVEL. Knitwear in fashion.
The upcoming MoMu exhibition will introduce the visitor to a wide variety of exquisite knitted garments and accessories from across the last centuries, with a focus on high fashion pieces and their vernacular interpretations. Top pieces by national and international designers and labels (Ann Salens, Vivienne Westwood, Sonia Rykiel, Missoni) historic couture pieces (Schiaparelli, Patou, Chanel) as well as more avant-garde and cutting edge pieces by established designers and newcomers on the international fashion scene (Sandra Backlund, Maison Martin Margiela, Mark Fast), will sit side by side to reveal the richness and diversity of knitwear in high fashion.
The exhibition will address the important decades of knitwear in fashion, demonstrating knitwears popularity both on and off the catwalk, and unravelling the changing status of the relationship between knitwear and fashion.
Thematically, it will showcase the various roles knitwear has played in social and fashion (r)evolutions and will address knitwears different and fluid association with comfort, wellbeing and chic.
With Unravel: Knitwear in Fashion, MoMu and Woolmark proudly present a mix of contemporary and classic knitwear design houses, as well as young designers and historical garments. The exhibition will challenge certain established ideas and show that far from being old-fashioned and dowdy- knitting is highly versatile, luxurious and a continuing source of inspiration for high end fashion.
The exhibition catalogue will be published by the Fashion Museum and Lannoo Publishers (as of March 16th 2011).

Le Tricot dans la Mode: Un Fil à Dénouer
De 16 mars jusqu'à 14 août 2011 le MoMu présente l'exposition Le Tricot dans la Mode: Un Fil à Dénouer.
La prochaine exposition du MoMu invite le visiteur à découvrir la grande et riche variété de vêtements et d'accessoires en tricot à travers les siècles précédents, avec une attention plus particulière pour les pièces haute couture et leurs interprétations dans la mode au quotidien. Les créations phares des stylistes et des marques, tant au niveau national qu' international (Ann Salens, Vivienne Westwood, Sonia Rykiel, Missoni), les pièces couture mythiques (Schiaparelli, Patou, Chanel), comme les oeuvres avant-gardistes de créateurs renommés et de nouveaux venus sur la scène internationale de la mode (Sandra Backlund, Maison Martin Margiela, Mark Fast), seront présentées côte à côte pour révéler la richesse et la diversité du tricot dans la haute couture.
En outre, cette exposition retracera les décennies importantes pour le tricot en montrant sa popularité, non seulement dans les défilés, mais aussi en dehors des podiums, et dévoquer lévolution de ses rapports et de son statut avec la mode. Les thèmes porteront sur ses divers rôles dans les (r)évolutions de la société et de la mode ainsi que sur son association riche et fluide avec les notions de confort, de bien-être et d'élégance.
Le MoMu et Woolmark sont fier de présenter avec Le Tricot dans la Mode: un Fil à Dénouer un mix de maisons de création contemporaines et classiques, ainsi que de jeunes stylistes et de vêtements historiques. L'exposition s'éloignera de certains préjugés pour montrer que, loin d'être démodé et inélégant, le tricot peut aisément se porter en toute occasion, incarner le luxe et constituer une source d'inspiration permanente pour la mode haut de gamme.
Le catalogue dexposition sera publié en coopération avec Lannoo (à partir du 16 mars 2011).
