We were extrmely happy to arrive at the hotel today for two reasons. We miscalculated the distance by 15 km (we were using two road books) and we were hit by a storm of hurricane proportions including thunder and lighting. We were litteraly blown off the road. We had to take cover in the local cemetary. luckily we were only 1 km from the finish.
Early on we came to a memoral to Alice de Craemer, a Belgian cyclist who was hit by a car on 3-7-86. We are actually a little surprised considering the average age of those we see and the current heat wave that there are not more mishaps.
We also have to say that after 3 weeks the women are able to exercise extra during the lunch brake while the men make friends for life with the locals.
We are in a town famous for its cathedral. A cock and a chicken live there. If you want to learn about this legend I am afraid you will need to look the town up in Wikipedia. It is a good story but a little too long for this blog.
