All You who Sleep Tonight

MAVAAL (Maria-Valentine-Aldegonde)

ik ben maar een stofje in de lucht...
niet beroemd of berucht...
een hoopje gevoelens...
een bergje gedachten...
een stukje leven...
een beetje verstand....

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out
in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom
of me in magnificent glow,
than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.

As waves are to the sea so time is to
the mind: moments come and go, then
come again, and if we try to hold them,
and cherish what they offer they just
go again, but always something then
is left behind, not for the eye to see
but for the Heart to feel, and finally,
when we stop wondering where all
this is coming from, we are ready to
receive, our eyes then open, as time
is to the mind and waves are to the sea,
so Love is to our Soul, eventually.

Nancy, you are exquisite, even in the shadows.
Especially in the shadows,
and I'm verry blessed to be your friend...
Thank you to EVERYONE for the kind words, love and prayers. You have no idea how grateful I am to all of you and apologize for not personally answering or commenting on your posts and letters. I feel extremely blessed to have had two years with the most thoughtful, loving, intelligent, super achieving, bike racing, house building, hardworking, chef, and number one father of his three beautiful children. My thoughts and love to all who's lives are impacted by this. He will always be with us.
Merci Dirk,

“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count.
It is the life in your years.”
