The Blind Man In The Bleachers ((aka The Last Game Of The Season (David Geddes))
Performer(s): Kenny Starr; Loyal Garner
He's just the blind man in the bleachers to the local hometown fans And he sits beneath the speakers way back in the stands And he listens to the play by play, he's just waiting for one name He wants to hear his son get in the game
But the boy's just not a hero, he's strictly second team Though he runs each night for touchdowns in his fathers sweetest dreams He's gonna be a star someday though you might never tell But the blind man in the bleachers knows he will
And the last game of the season is a Friday night at home And no one knows the reason but the blind man didn't come And his boy looks kinda nervous, sometimes turns around and stares Just as though he sees the old man sitting there
Well, the local boys are tryin' but they slowly lose their will Another players down and now he's carried from the field At halftime in the locker room the kid goes off alone And no one sees him talkin' on the phone
And the games already started when he gets back to the team And half the crowd can hear his coach yell, "Where the hell you been?" "Just getting' ready for the second half", is all he'll say "Cause no you're gonna let me in to play"
And without another word he turns and runs into the game And though the silence on the field, loudspeakers call his name It'll make the local papers how the team came from behind When they saw him playing out his heart to win
And when the game was over the coach asked him to tell What was it he was thinkin' of that made him play so well "Well, you knew my Dad was blind", he said, "Tonight he passed away" "It's the first time that my father's seen me play"
Candy Apple Red
Composer(s): Houston Turner
Performer(s): Bill Anderson
and multiple other artists
He came speeding through the town each day at sundown And his car was painted candy apple red He was coming there to see the Sheriff's daughter And the Sheriff didn't know it, so they said
Time and time again the Sheriff tried to catch him But he always speeded up and got away That old county jail stood patiently a-waitin' And the Sheriff vowed he'd put him there some day
Well there goes candy apple red, that's what the people said If he doesn't slow it down a bit, he's gonna end up dead And the Sheriff's daughter said she'd rather end up dead Than to live without her candy apple red
So the Sheriff built a barricade to catch him And he sat there at the limits of the town But the Sheriff's daughter had already met him And she married him before the sun went down
When the Sheriff saw them comin' down the highway He saw they couldn't stop and quickly caught his breath As they crashed the barricade the car exploded And the boy and girl went to a flaming death
Well there goes candy apple red, that's what the people said If he doesn't slow it down a bit, he's gonna end up dead And the Sheriff's daughter said she'd rather end up dead Than to live without her candy apple red
Felicitá Composer(s): G. De Stefani; Dario Farina; C. Minellono Performer(s): Al Bano & Romina Power; and various other artists
The Blacksmith Blues Composer(s): Jack Holmes Performer(s): Ella Mae Morse and multiple other artists
Down in old Kentucky Where horseshoes are lucky There's a village smithy standin' under a chestnut tree Hear the hammer knockin' See the anvil rockin' He sings the boogie blues while he's hammerin' on the shoes See the hot sparks a-flyin' Like Fourth of July-in' He's even got the horses cloppin', pop! down the avenue Folks love the rhythm The clang-bangin' rhythm You'll get a lot o' kicks out of the Blacksmith Blues

Félicie Aussi Composer(s): Albert Willemetz; C.L. Pothier; Casimir Oberfeld Performer(s): Fernandel; Maurice Chevalier
Candles Getting Shorter Composer(s): Ken Hensley Performer(s): The Gods
And the candle's getting shorter And the flame has nearly gone You didn't love me like you Ought to have done Why do I, why do I keep on crying Why do I, why do I keep on crying
How long will the sadness last Will it be too long before it's past How I've been so Hopelessly out class Since our love died I've cried and cried and I cried Since our love died I've cried and cried and I cried
It doesn't really matter If I wake one day and find You didn't want to stay My heart will just go on pretending That I didn't love or Want you anyway, no
The Blackfly Song Composer(s): Wade Hemsworth Performer(s): Wade Hemsworth
'Twas early in the spring when I decide to go For to work up in the woods in North Ontario And the unemployment office said they'd see me through To the Little Abitibi with the survey crew
And the black flies, the little black flies Always the black fly no matter where you go I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' on my bones In North Ontario, io, in North Ontario
Now the man Black Toby was the captain of the crew And he said "I'm gonna tell you boys what we're gonna do The want to build a power dam and we must find a way For to make the little Ab flow around the other way"
So we survey to the east and we survey to the west And we couldn't make our minds up how to do it best Little Ab, Little Ab, what shall I do? For I'm all but goin' crazy on the survey crew
And the black flies, the little black flies Always the black fly no matter where you go I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' on my bones In North Ontario, io, in North Ontario
It was blackfly, blackfly, blackfly, everywhere A-crawlin in your whiskers, a- crawlin in your hair A-swimmin' in the soup and a-swimmin' in the tea Oh the Devil take the blackfly and leave me be
And the black flies, the little black flies Always the black fly no matter where you go I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' on my bones In North Ontario, io, in North Ontario
Black Toby fell to swearin' cuz the work went slow And the state of our morale was a-gettin' mighty low And the flies swarmed heavy; it was hard to catch a breath As you staggered up and down the trail, talkin' to yourself
Now the bull cook's name was Blind River Joe If it hadn't been for him, we'd've never pulled through For he bound up our bruises and he kidded us for fun And he lathered us with bacon grease and balsam gum
And the black flies, the little black flies Always the black fly no matter where you go I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' on my bones In North Ontario, io, in North Ontario
At last the job was over; Black Toby said "We're through with the Little Abitibi and the survey crew" T'was a wonderful experience and this I know I'll never go again to North Ontario
And the black flies, the little black flies Always the black fly no matter where you go I'll die with the black fly a-pickin' on my bones In North Ontario, io, in North Ontario
For no special reason I am leaving you for awhile tonight I'm flying far above you Still I love you, you make things right
I've been with you before I'll be with you again I'll come back for more, yea The story has a strange ending
Well, you know me I'm a nomad I can't feel bad about the way I am I've been rolling around my whole life You're my candlebright in the window
You guide me back again And I come when you shine You are not my friend, no But I am something of a dreamer I am something of a dreamer I am something of a dreamer
Well, you know me I'm a nomad I can't feel bad about the way I am I've been rolling around my whole life You're my candlebright in the window
You guide me back again And I come when you shine You are not my friend, no But I am something of a dreamer I am something of a dreamer I am something of a dreamer
Still I love you My candlebright You are not my friend (In the window) But still I love you
You're my candlebright Still I love you (In the window) But you are not my friend (My candlebright) But still I love you (In the window)
Still I love you Still I love you (I can't feel bad) Still I love you

Oh, the black-eyed boys They motor-cycled into town The people cried, it's the black-eyed gang All in white, a super bang Oh, the black-eyed boys They laid a rockin' rhythm down You feel the time starts to come alive Ev'rytime the black-eyed boys arrive
Well now the leader of the band, he was the drummer He did a rhythm like a big tattoo And you can see he put all his heart and soul in The lead guitar, he sat astride a rubber hummer And in behind there was a bass boy, too They pretty soon had the hole town rock and rollin' Ev'rybody
Oh, the black-eyed boys They had 'em dancin' in the street They rocked along from the mornin' light On and on into the night And oh, the black-eyed boys They kept the people on their feet Cryin' oh, let it never end Wanna hear the black eyed-boys again
Oh, the black-eyed boys Layin' down a rockin' noise Oh, the heart right black-eyed boys
Oh, the black-eyed boys They had 'em dancin' in the street They rocked along from the mornin' light On and on into the night And oh, the black-eyed boys They kept the people on their feet Cryin' oh, let it never end Wanna hear the black-eyed boys again
Oh, the black-eyed boys Oh, the black-eyed boys Rock and rollin' - rock and rollin' - rock and rollin' Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Candle Of Life Composer(s): John Lodge Performer(s): The Moody Blues
Something you can't hide Says you're lonely Hidden deep inside Of you only It's there for you to see Take a look and be Burn slowly the candle of life
Something there outside Says we're only In the hands of time Falling slowly It's there for us to know With love that we can go Burn slowly the candle of life
So love everybody And make them your friends So love everybody And make them your friends
Something you can't hide Says you're lonely Hidden deep inside Of you only It's there for you to see Take a look and be Burn slowly the candle of life
Something there outside Says we're only In the hands of time Falling slowly It's there for us to know With love that we can go Burn slowly the candle of life

Don't the sunrise look so pretty Never such a sight Like a rollin' into New York City With the skyline in the morning light Roll right through the night Roll Roll right through the night I said Roll
Semi-smokin mama, you got to give me some Heard you got the biggest -- hmm -- the biggest truck in town Right on through to Baltimore you got to love me now Got to do me gently, well it's feets don't fail me now Don't fail me, feets don't fail me now
Don't the sunrise look so pretty Never such a sight Like a rollin' into New York City With the skyline in the morning light Roll right through the night I said roll Roll right through the night Roll right through the night
Blackboard Of My Heart Composer(s): Lyle Gaston - Hank Thompson Performer(s): Hank Thompson; Daniel O'Donnell
When I was young and went to school They taught me how to write To take the chalk and make a mark And hope it turns out right Well that's the way it is with love And what you did to me I wrote it so you'd know That I was yours eternally
But my tears have washed I love you From the blackboard of my heart It's too late to clean the slate And make another start I'm satisfied the way things are Although we're far apart My tears have washed I love you from The blackboard of my heart
If you'd been true the way you should And not have gone astray These tears would not have fallen down And washed the words away No need to talk, 'cause if the chalk Should write those words again It will be for someone else Not things that might have been
But my tears have washed I love you From the blackboard of my heart It's too late to clean the slate And make another start I'm satisfied the way things are Although we're far apart My tears have washed I love you from The blackboard of my heart
Candle In The Wind
((Dutch Version: Treurlied Voor Agalev (by Tom Van Stiphout en Paul Poelmans) - 2003))
Composer(s): Elton John - Bernie Taupin
First release by: Elton John - 1973
Covered by multiple other artists
Goodbye Norma Jean Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While those around you crawled They crawled out of the woodwork And they whispered into your brain They set you on the treadmill And they made you change your name
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in And I would have liked to have known you But I was just a kid Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did
Loneliness was tough The toughest role you ever played Hollywood created a superstar And pain was the price you paid Even when you died Oh the press still hounded you All the papers had to say Was that Marilyn was found in the nude
Goodbye Norma Jean From the young man in the 22nd row Who sees you as something as more than sexual More than just our Marilyn Monroe
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing who to cling to When the rain set in And I would have liked to have known you But I was just a kid Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did
