    The Wiener Schnitzel Waltz
    Composer(s): Tom Lehrer
    Performer(s): Tom Lehrer

Do you remember the night I held you so tight
As we danced to the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz?
The music was gay, and the setting was Viennese
Your hair wore some roses, or perhaps they were peonies
I was blind to your obvious faults
As we danced 'cross the scene to the strains of the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz!

Oh I drank some champagne from your shoe, la-la-la
I was drunk by the time I got through, la-la-la
For I didn't know, as I raised that cup
It had taken two bottles to fill the thing up...

It was I who stepped on your dress, la-la-la
The skirts all came off I confess, la-la-la
Revealing for all of the others to see
Just what it was that endeared you to me...

I remember the night I held you so tight
As we danced to the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz
Your lips were like wine, if you'll pardon the Simile
The music was lovely and quite Rudolf Frim'ly
I drank wine, you drank chocolate malts
And we both turned quite green to the strains of the Wiener Schnitzel Waltz!

This is the hour of parting, soon I must sail away
Now while the teardrops are starting just one more time let me say

Take me in your arms and hold me tight
tell me that your love is mine tonight
Say that everything will turn out right
    It hurts to say goodbye

Let me know the thrill of your embrace
    memories that time cannot erase
While I kiss the teardrops from your face
    it hurts to say goodbye

Wherever you are you will always be near to me
Wherever I go you'll be in my heart

'Til the sun comes shining thru again
'til we see a sky of blue again
'Til I'm back with you, my love, 'til then
    it hurts to say goodbye

Wherever you are you will always be near to me
Wherever I go you'll be in my heart

'Til the sun comes shining thru again
'til we see a sky of blue again
'Til I'm back with you, my love, 'til then

    Roly Poly
    Composer(s): Elsa Doran; Sol Lake
    Performer(s): Doris Day;
    Rock Hudson; Harry James

There's a Guy in this old town
    I'm tellin' you a fact
He measures five feet up and down
And five feet front and back
    He's a Roly Poly Baby
    Pleasin' as they come
    He's a Roly Poly Baby
    A Ton of Fun

    They call him
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly
    Ya Ya Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly

When I first laid eyes on him
I laughed just like the rest
The more I saw the more of him
The more I liked him best
    Got a Roly Poly Baby
    Point to him with pride
    He's my Roly Poly Baby
    I'm satisfied

    I call him
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly
    Ya Ya Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly

Just to put my arms around him
    Takes about a week
But when I get my arms around
    We cuddle cheek to cheek
    Got a Roly Poly Baby
    Sweet as Apple Pie
He is just a Roly Poly
    But so am I

    I call him
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly
    Ya Ya Roly
    Ya Ya Poly
    Ya Ya Roly Poly

    The Widow Of Westmorland's Daughter
    (Traditional)
    Performer(s): Fairport Convention
    and multiple other artists

There was an old widow in Westmorland who had no daughter but one
And she has prayed both night and day she should keep her maidenhead long
"Ah, don't be daft, mother," she said, "and say no more to me
For a fine young man in the Grenadier Guards my maidenhead's taken from me"
"You saucy cat, you impudent cat, a-cursed may you be
If some idle rogue in the Grenadier Guards your maidenhead's taken from thee"
But the girlie's off to the Grenadier Guards as fast as go can she
Saying "Give me back my maidenhead, my mother she nags at me"
So he kissed her and undressed her and he laid her on the bed
And he put her head where her feet were before and gave back her maidenhead
Then he kissed her and he dressed her with a rose in either hand
Invited her round to St. Mary's church to see his fine wedding
Oh, the girlie's off to her mammy's house as fast as go can she
"I'm as full a maiden, mammy dear, as the day you first bore me
He kissed me and undressed me and he laid me on the bed
Put my head where my feet were before and he gave back my maidenhead
Then he kissed me and he dressed me, put a rose in either hand and
Invited me round to St. Mary's church to see his fine wedding
"Ah, never on foot," her mammy she said, "in a carriage and pair you'll ride
With four and twenty fine young girls to go with you beside"
"Ah, who is this?" the bride she said, "She comes so high to me"
"I see it is the widow's daughter who ran home and told her mammy"
"How could she do it, how would she do it, how could she do it for shame?
Eleven long nights I lay with a man and I never told anyone"
"If eleven long nights you lay with a man, you never shall lie with me
I'd rather marry the widow's daughter who ran home and told her mammy"

    Comment Te Dire?
Composer(s): Pace; Thomas; Rivat; Panzeri; Livraghi
    Performer(s): Joe Dassin

    Laisse-toi conduire
    Et cherche à comprendre
Et reviens me tendre la main
    {2x}

    Alors tu reviendras me chercher

    Laisse-toi conduire
    Et cherche à comprendre
Et reviens me tendre la main
    {3x}

Roly walked in, said with a grin
    "Somebody's stolen my heart"
Ma gave a shout, said "Who's to be your spouse
Is she rich, does she own a big car?"

Well Roly sat down, said "Oh what a clown I am
Bring me a drink from the bar"
Ma was almost in tears, ain't had a wedding for years
    Somebody run and fetch Pa

Oh, Roly's gonna get married, Pa
    Roly's gonna get wed
Yeah, Roly's gonna get married, Pa
I think he must be out of his head

    "We'll be wed in a week, I don't think I'll sleep"
He said "Can't stand the pain when we're apart"
Well Ma was so glad, Pa shook his head
And said "I always thought Roly was smart"

Oh, Roly's gonna get married, Pa
    Roly's gonna get wed
Yeah, Roly's gonna get married, Pa
I think he must be out of his head

Well Roly sat down, said "Oh what a clown I am
Bring me a drink from the bar"
Ma was almost in tears, ain't had a wedding for years

The whole world is singing my song
But I sing it only to you
The whole world is humming along
I love you, I love you, I do

You put my dreams to music
I learned how a song could start
I gave the world the music
But I gave you my heart

The whole world is singing my song
But I'll always sing it to you

    Comment T'appelles-Tu?
    Composer(s): Nicolas Peyrac
    Performer(s): Nicolas Peyrac

Me dit j'ai peur quand tu t'en vas

    Dis comment t'appelles-tu

    Rolling round the world
    Looking for the sunshine
That never seems to come my way
    Rolling round the world
    Where every little milestone
Seems to look at me and say
“Bye bye, rainy days, bye bye snow,
Got no time to waste, I must go
    Rolling round the world
    Looking for the sunshine
I know I’m gonna find someday”

    The White Trash Song
    Composer(s): Steve Young
Performer(s): Steve Young; Tom Russell Band

    I wake up every morning
    About the break of dawn
    Hear the rooster crowing
    Feel all alone
    There's honeysuckle outside my window
    Dew sparkling on the vine...
    Little squirrels barking
Like they thought they was a mountain lion...
I get to thinking about the road
And all the times I come back again
I was born a child to these muddy roads
Die here lonesome as the wind...
Cause all cars they're broke down
    Laying in my front yard
I ought to get one together
But the work just seems so hard
But a man come by this morning
He wanted to paint my barn
    He painted
"See Rock City - US Highway 41"

I used to have a church woman
    Pretty as she could be
But she run off with old Jimmy Swaggart (or: a TV preacher)
    Up in Nashville, Tn
So I drink a lot of liquor
I drink a lot of booze
    I'm a midnight country rambler
I ain't got nothing to lose

So when you carve my tombstone honey
    Don't worry about no name
Just say he come with a Georgia wind
And left with the (or: a) morning rain
But he could play a fiddle
    Make a dobro ring
    Make a guitar sparkle
    Like that early morning rain
Yeah, a man came by here today
He wanted to paint my barn
    He painted
"See rock City - Us Highway 41"

    Down on Seventy-Five or Ninety-Five or I-Twenty t'other way
Turn your squelch to the right and in the night
    you'll hear some cotton-picker say
    "Breaker breaker, got a picture-taker, ol' Smokey's at forty-three!"
It's that Japanese toy, the trucker's joy that everybody calls CB
    Yeah, Citizens Band
Keeps you up to date with the fender-benders and the Tijuana taxis
and all them bears out there a-flip-floppin'

Now ahead o' your children and ahead o' your wife
on the list of the ten best things in life
Your CB's gotta rate right around number four
'Course, beavers 'n hot biscuits 'n Merle Haggard come one-two-three, you know

Well I was loaded down comin' outta Lake City
checkin' out seat covers all young and pretty
My wife was right and I settled for the night
that ol' concrete boulevard a-feelin' right
My ol' buddy in the back was a-gettin' some sack
I was gonna bring it on to Macon 'fore I climbed in the back
Yeah, I had all my eight-tracks by my side from Dolly Parton to Charley Pride
My stereo a-rattlin' on the dash with Johnny Cash and all that good trash
Yeah, culture with a side order of ritz!

When all of a sudden there come a squall over my CB ringin' wall to wall
Said "Go to double nickels as you hit the ridge
    'Cause there's a smokey picture-taker t'other side o' the bridge!"
"Oh, mercy! 'Preciate that, good buddy
Uh, what's your handle there, come on? Come on?"
    Mm-hmm...
Well they was nary a sound, and I was bound to think he done switched over to four
When wall to wall there come a call in a voice you couldn't ignoure

    And he said
    "Ten-four, back door
Put the pedal to the metal and let it roar
Hammer down to Macon Town, gonna see my mama, sure
Well the Bears are gone, let's bring it on, the Georgia line's way outta sight
Pulled outta Richmond Town last Saturday night, and my handle is the Whight Knight
    How 'bout it?"

"Hey ol' buddy, I'm the Mean Machine. What's your twenty and what's your eighteen?
Grease it up and shoout me some more
'Cause I sure believe you're my front door! Come on?"

    "Ten-four, back door
Put the pedal to the metal and let it roar
Hammer down to Macon Town, gonna see my mama, sure
Well a GMC my eighteen be, and the last mile marker was a fifty-three
Pulled outta Richmond Town last Saturday night, and my handle is the Whight Knight
    How 'bout it?"

"All right, White Knight, hammer down!"
Well there I was a-streakin', my needle was a-peakin' right around seventy-nine
That ol' diesel juice was a-gettin' loose and everything was fine!
Oh yeah! Sing, Dolly! Sing, Loretta! Sing it, darlin's! Mm-hmm

When wall to wall, I got a call from a front door big bear trapper
He said, "Break one-nine, good buddy o' mine
you got a smokey in a plain white wrapper!"
Well I jammed my stick and lost twenty quick, you could hear them gears a-tearin'
I was passed by a beaver in a Camaro, and I was cruisin' along a-goin' so slow
I could count every button on that frilly blouse she was a-wearin'
    'Course, they weren't but one

    "Hey there, Super Trooper"
Yeah, that's that crafty smokey over there with a CB o' his very own
"Who, me? Noooooo, Smokey! Got grapefruit comin from F-L-A
    Can't shake them up, boy
Nooo, goin' double nickels all the way!
Hey, White Knight! Hey, front door
Let's slide one off o' Super Trooper here and show him what's happenin' up there
    Come on?"

    And he said,
    "Ten-four, back door
Put the pedal to the metal and let it roar
Hammer down to Macon Town, gonna see my mama, sure
Well the bears are gone, let's bring it on, the Georgia line's way outta sight
Gotta get to Macon 'fore the middle o' the night and my handle is the Whight Knight
    How 'bout it?"

Well I hammered down 'cause I figured that clown knew more about it than me
I was puttin' it to it, and before I knew it I was doin' 'round eighty-three
When I got a call just got my gall
White Knight was a-talkin' to me, and he said

    "Ten-four, back door
Put the pedal to the metal, what'cha waitin' for?
If that ol' white can't stay in sight, gonna leave you here 'n say no more
    How 'bout it?"

"Whoooa now, ol' buddy, that's fightin' talk!
Now say things about my wife or my religion
but don't go gettin' nasty 'bout my rig now!
I'll come up there 'n blow your doors off!"
Sing that mad tune there, Buck!

Well I hammered down like I had wings
little gravels in my wheels goin' ping-ping-ping
I was hittin' ninety with a might heavy load
blew a Greyhound Bus clean off o' the road
'Bout the time I hit ninety-two I saw somethin' flashin' in my rear view
Thoght to myself, "That can't be true," but there it was a-goin' blue-blue-blue!

Uh-oh... Bubble gum machine done hit the jackpot!
That's what it was, big ol' redneck whip right there on Smokey's car
    goin' twangy-twangy-twangy-twangy
Play me a sad song there, Johnny

Well I could see that bear a-laughin' big
Just a-hangin' in tight on the back o' my rig
When all of a sudden it come to me wall to wall
So in that cold dark Georgia night in the shadow o' Smokey Bear's blue light
I decided to make just one more CB call...

"Break one-nine for the Super Trooper
Hey there, Super Trooper, tell me if I'm right
    Are you my front door?
Are you the White Knight? Come on?"

    And he said
    "Ten-four, back door
You in a heap o' trouble, boy, fer sure
Gonna read you your rights and treat you fair
just pull over there with yer rockin' chair
Want you boys to know each other real well
'Cause you gonna be sharin' the same jail cell
You make twelve cotton-pickers I've caught tonight
Runnin' front door as that White Knight! [snicker]
    How 'bout it? [snicker]
Forty miles over the speed limit; you boys gon' be here a while!" [snicker]

    That's it, cotton-pickers, I've done been grounded
My tail in jail and my rig impounded
Called the boss for bond in Big A Town; he said
"You got in there, you get out, clown!
You lookin' for more than a bond, boy, you ain't got no job!"

I said, "Well boss, it's been nice doin' business with you
Just keep it between the ditches
Sevens, threes, 'n all them good numbers to you
'n boss, if you would do me one favor
I... I wonder if you'd call my wife and tell I her won't be there
Saturday to take the kids to no Little League nowhere now
Tell her maybe she'd better look into that job what she was offered, 'n
Tell her just go ahead and get my friend a leave of action to the VFW

"And boss, before my replacement takes this rig out
Tell him when he's travellin' through the dark Georgia night
Don't never get no fromt door called the White Knight!
No sir, 'n wind up in the pokey with Smokey?
Best thing you can do with that ol' thing is yank it out by the wires
I don't care if it is a Johnson
Sing me a sad tune there, Johnny

"Oh Lordy mercy! Where am I gonna get two hundred 'n fifty green
stamps to get outta this pokey?
    Oh Lordy..."

    Verstandig is het niet
Alleen een idioot denkt niet na
Maar ik kan er niets aan doen
    Ik word verliefd op jou

    Wat als ik blijf
    Zou dat verkeerd zijn
Want ik kan er niets aan doen
    Ik wordt verliefd op jou

    Een rivier die stroomt
    Altijd naar de zee
    Liefste ga je mee
    Dit had zo moeten zijn

    Neem mijn hand
Mijn hele leven is voor jou
Want ik kan er niets aan doen
    Ik word verliefd op jou

Want ik kan er niets aan doen
    Ik word verliefd op jou...

    The Whistling Song
    Composer(s): A. Angers - B. Wicks
Performer(s): Billy Cotton & His Band

When she walks down the street
All the cops on the beat turn and whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
When she rides in the row
All the boys shout out “Whoa” and they whistle
    (Wolf Whistle)
Apart from the fact that it’s coarse
    A whistle unsettles the horse
And an unsettled horse can result in a very sad end
    My friend
    When she travels by air
Pilots turn round and stare and they whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
When she rides in a train
Porters do it again, they all whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
Now she’s met a boy who can’t whistle at all
But he’s very handsome, he’s dark and he’s tall
He couldn’t care less about all of the rest
    They can whistle

When she goes for a hike
Or a rid on a bike how they whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
    All the butchers and bakers
    And candlestick makers all whistle
    (Wolf Whistle)
    She doesn’t consider it rude
You can’t call the lady a prude
    So our local attraction
    Gives some slight reaction
    She’ll bow, and how.
When she goes to the movies
Or goes to a show how they whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
When she puts on her coat
And is ready to go how they whistle
    (Wolf whistle)
They whistled like mad when she went to a ball
She turned to the dark man who’s handsome and tall
And said “Aren’t they darlings, good luck to them all
    They can whistle”
    (Wolf whistle)

    Comment Lui Dire
    Performer(s): France Gall

Au beau milieu de la foule
    D'un dimanche après-midi
Au beau milieu de la foule
    Je le reconnais c'est lui

Au beau milieu de la foule
De ces gens qui me sourient
    Parmi tous mes ennemis

    Comment, comment,
Comment lui faire comprendre d'un sourire
Comment lui dire, comment lui dire
Comment lui faire comprendre d'un sourire

    The Whistler's Mother-In-Law
Composer(s): Bert Stevens - Larry Wagner
Performer(s): Bing Crosby & Muriel Lane

    (BC)
If you’re whistlin’ ‘cause you’re happy
    Be very careful Pappy
No tellin’ what a whistler’s mother-in-law will do
Oh, the mammies around the kitchen
    Attendin’ to her stitchin’
There’s many behind the door keepin’ an eye on you
    She’s got a direct suspicion
You aim to do some fishin’
Your whistlin’, I declare, gave it away for sure
But I reckon you mighta’ known it
Might just as well postpone it
    You ain’t gonna go newhere
    ‘sept on a lecture tour

    (ML)
    John, John, that’s what I’m a’callin’
Hurry up and haul that coal
John, John, I’m not only stallin’
This old lady’s up to som’thin’
    Sure as you’re born

    (BC)
As you listen to granny cackle,
    She’s found your fishin’ tackle
A whistle for all your plans now for the good they’ll do
Look at granny, she’s got the flivver
    She’s headin’ for the river
    Well isn’t that like a man’s mother-in-law for you

    (ML)
    John, John, that’s what I’m a’callin’
Hurry up and haul that coal

    (BC)
    I hauled that yesterday

    (ML)
John, John, I’m not only stallin’
This old lady’s up to som’thin’
    Sure as you’re born

    (BC)
As you listen to granny cackle
    She’s found your fishin’ tackle

    Comment L'oublier
Titles In Other Languages: Helwa Ya Baladi; Yo Te Amo
    Composer(s): G. Sinoué; J. Barnel; B. Liamis
    Performer(s): Dalida

    Oh, oh, oh

    Comment l'oublier
    Comment l'oublier
    Oh, oh, oh
