Ciudad De Pobres Corazones Composer(s): Fito Páez Performer(s): Fito Páez

    En esta puta ciudad
Todo se incendia y se va
    Matan a pobres corazones
    En esta sucia ciudad
No hay que seguir ni parar
    Ciudad de locos corazones

    No quiero salir a fumar
    No quiero empezar a pensar

    Maldito sea tu amor
Tu inmenso reino y tu ansiado dolor
¿Qué es lo que quieres de mí?
¿Qué es lo que quieres saber?
    No me verás arrodillado

Dicen que ya no soy yo
Que estoy más loco que ayer
    Y matan a pobres corazones

    Renunciación
    Composer(s): Antonio Valdez Herrera
    Performer(s): Javier Solis;
    and various other artists

    No quiero verte llorar
no quiero ver que las penas
se metan en tu alma buena
    por culpa de mi querer

    No quiero verte sufrir
    no soy capaz de ofenderte
si sabes que hasta la muerte
    juré ser sólo de ti

Si no encontraste ternura en mi alma
si sólo penas te causo yo
me voy mi vida de tu presencia
aunque me duela en el corazón

Yo siempre fui lo que soy
    jamás te dije mentiras
y puse a tus pies mi vida
    sin ninguna condición

Si tú lo quieres mi amor
me voy de ti para siempre
dejando un beso en tu frente
    como postrer bendición

No habrá reproches de parte mía
sólo me importa que seas feliz
ya ves que todo te di en la vida
mi pobre vida que es para ti

    Rare Ould Times
    Composer(s): Pete St. John
    Performer(s): The Dubliners
    and multiple other artists

    Raised on songs and stories
    Heroes of renown
    The passing tales and glories
    That once was Dublin Town
    The hallowed halls and houses
    The haunting childrens rhymes
    That once was Dublin City
    In the rare ould times

    Ring a ring a rosey
    As the light declines
    I remember Dublin City
    In the rare ould times

My name it is Sean Dempsey
    As Dublin as can be
Born hard and late in Pimlico
In a house that ceased to be
By trade I was a cooper
    Lost out to redundancy
Like my house that fell to progress
    My trade’s a memory
    And I courted Peggy Dignan
    As pretty as you please
A rogue and child of Mary
    From the rebel Liberties
I lost her to a student chap
With skin as black as coal
When he took her off to Birmingham
    She took away my soul

    Ring a ring a rosey
    As the light declines
    I remember Dublin City
    In the rare ould times

The years have made me bitter
    The gargle's dimmed me brain
    'Cause Dublin keeps on changing
    And nothing seems the same
The Pillar and the Met. have gone
The Royal long since pulled down
    As the grey unyielding concrete
Makes a city of my town

    Ring a ring a rosey
    As the light declines
    I remember Dublin City
    In the rare ould times

Fare thee well sweet Anna Liffey
    I can no longer stay
And watch the new glass cages
That spring up along the Quay
My mind's too full of memories
Too old to hear new chimes
I'm part of what was Dublin
    In the rare ould times

    Ring a ring a rosey
    As the light declines
    I remember Dublin City
    In the rare ould times

    City Streets
    Performer(s): Carole King

    River wind is icy
    Chills run through my bones
Tides of life are ebbing out
    Between the cobblestones
    The streets are on fire
    With the burning sunrise
And over the water I look in vain
    For love on someone's eyes

    Oh
    city streets
    The stories that they tell
    Oh
    city streets
    They can be heaven
    they can be hell

    Winter colored morning
    Gray and dirty brown
    Reflecting the mood I'm in
    Despair is all around.
    I long for sweet oblivion
To make me from my pain
Maybe bring me dreams of hope and faith
So I can break this chain

    Oh
    city streets
    The stories that they tell
    Oh
    city streets
    They can be heaven
    they can be hell

    Lovers with their arms entwined
    Silhouettes against the light
A warm bed is waiting as they head home
    After staying up all night
For them the city is magic
That's all they 've ever know
I wish I could find the magic
But I'm scared and I'm feeling so alone

    Oh
    city streets
    The stories that they tell
    Oh
    city streets
    They can be heaven
    they can be hell

    Oh
    city streets
    The stories they have known
    Oh
    city streets
    city streets
    city streets

    Rentre Chez Toi Et Pleure
    Italian Titles: Meglio Per Te Se Piangi;
    Rifugiati Nel Pianto
    Composer(s): Charles Aznavour; Gilbert Bécaud
    Performer(s): Charles Aznavour

    Rentre chez toi et pleure
Moi j'ai tant pleuré pour toi
    J'en ai passé des heures
    A me tourmenter
    Sans pouvoir t'oublier

    Laisse couler tes larmes
Ton grand chagrin sur tes joues
La vie a tant de charme
    Qu'elle effacera tout

    Peines d'amour sont brèves
    Ce n'est qu'un mauvais rêve
    Dont tu t'éveilleras
    Crois-moi

    Laisse crier ta peine
Demain c'est un cri de joie
    Qui brisera tes chaînes
    Te ramenant vers moi

    Rentre chez toi et pleure
    Pleure, pleure

The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald
    Composer(s): Gordon Lightfoot
First release by: Gordon Lightfoot - 1976
    Covered by multiple other artists

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called 'Gitche Gumee'
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too
T'was the witch of November come stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the Gales of November came slashin'
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya
At Seven P.M. a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it's been good t'know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searches all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her
They might have split up or they might have capsized
May have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters

    Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams
The islands and bays are for sportsmen
    And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the Gales of November remembered

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
    In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call 'Gitche Gumee'
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early!

    The Rapper
    Composer(s): Dominic Ierace
First release by: The Jaggerz - 1970

    Hey girl, I bet you
There's someone out to get you
    You'll find him anywhere
On a bus, in a bar, in a grocery store
He'll say "Excuse me, haven't I seen you somewhere before?"
Rap, rap, rap, they call him the Rapper
Rap, rap, rap, you know what he's after
    So, he starts his rappin'
    Hoping something will happen
    He'll say he needs you
A companion, a girl he can talk to
    He's made up his mind
He needs someone to sock it to
Rap, rap, rap, they call him the Rapper
Rap, rap, rap, you know what he's after
    He's made an impression
    So he makes a suggestion
    "Come up to my place
For some coffee or tea or me"
He's got you where he wants you
    Girl, you've gotta face reality
Rap, rap, rap, they call him the Rapper
Rap, rap, rap, you know what he's after

    City of the angels
    City of the angels

    Walkin’ and talkin’ and laughin’
About dreamin’ the things that you want will work out
People in places where you want to be,
I’m lost in the city, who’s got the key?

    City of the angels
Oo, I hear you callin’ me
    City of the angels

I’ve got this feelin’ that things will work out
I’ve got this feelin’, and there ain’t no doubt
I’m holdin’ on, hopin’ to find
Life in this city can bring peace of mind

    City of the angels
Oo, I hear you callin’ me
    City of the angels

    City of the angels
Oo, I hear you callin’ me
    City of the angels

Just like, just like it used to be, yeah
    City of the angels

    I’m goin’ home, home, bye-bye bye-bye bye-bye
    Oh, bye-bye, bye-bye, bye-bye
    Yeah, yeah, I’m leavin’, leavin’
    Oo, oo, I’m goin’ home
    I’m leavin’, leavin’

    and multiple other artists

My father had a Randall knife
My mother gave it to him
When he went off to World War Two
To save us all from ruin

Now if you've ever held a Randall knife
    You know my father well
If a better blade was ever made
It was probably forged in hell

My father was a good man
He was a lawyer by his trade
And only once did I ever see
    Him misuse the blade

Well, it almost cut his thumb off
When he took it for a tool
Ah, the knife was made for darker things
And you could not bend the rules

Well, he let me take it camping once
    On a Boy Scout jamboree
I broke a half an inch off
Tryin' to stick it in a tree

Well I hid it from him for a while
But the knife and he were one
He put it in his bottom drawer
    Without a hard word one

There it slept and there it stayed
    For twenty some odd years
    Sort of like Excalibur
    Except waiting for a tear

My father died when I was forty
And I couldn't find a way to cry
Not because I didn't love him
    Not because he didn't try

Oh, I'd cried for every lesser thing
    Whiskey, pain and beauty
But he deserved a better tear
And I was not quite ready

So we took his ashes out to sea
And poured 'em off the stern
Then threw the roses in the wake
    Of everything we'd learned

And when we got back to the house
They asked me what I wanted
Not the law books, not the watch
    I need the things haunted

My hand burned for the Randall knife
    There in the bottom drawer
I found a tear for my father's life
And all that it stood for

Riding on the City of New Orleans Illinois Central Monday morning rail Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail All along the southbound odyssey The train pulls out at Kankakee Rolls along past houses, farms and fields Passin' trains that have no names Freight yards full of old black men And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles Good morning America how are you? Don't you know me I'm your native son I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor And the sons of pullman porters And the sons of engineers Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel Mothers with their babes asleep Are rockin' to the gentle beat And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel Good morning America how are you? Don't you know me I'm your native son I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done Nighttime on The City of New Orleans Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee Half way home, we'll be there by morning Through the Mississippi darkness Rolling down to the sea And all the towns and people seem To fade into a bad dream And the steel rails still ain't heard the news The conductor sings his song again The passengers will please refrain This train's got the disappearing railroad blues Good night, America, how are you? Don't you know me I'm your native son I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done

    Renegade
    Composer(s): Phil Lynott; Snowy White
    Performer(s): Thin Lizzy

He’s just a boy that has lost his way
He’s a rebel that has fallen down
He’s a fool been blown away
To you and me he’s a renegade

He’s a clown that we put down
    He’s a man that doesn’t fit
He’s a king but not in this town
To you and me he’s a renegade

But he is a king when he’s on his own
He’s got a bike and that’s his throne
And when he rides he’s like the wind
To you and me he’s a renegade

He’s just a boy who has lost his sights
He’s a stranger, prowls the night
    He’s a devil, that’s right
To you and me he’s a renegade

Check it out, check his face
Look at his eyes, they’re so sly
I wonder why he cries from the inside
    I wonder why he’s a renegade

Oh please, I’m on my begged bended knees
Oh please, please heed my call
He’s just a boy that has lost his way
    He’s just a boy, that’s all

    The Rainbow Connection
Composer(s): Paul Williams - Kenny Ascher
First release by: Jim Henson - 1979
    Covered by multiple other artists

    Why are there so many
    Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
    Rainbow's are visions
    They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
    Believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see

    Someday we'll find it
    The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

    Who said that every wish
    Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
    Somebody thought of that
    And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
    What's so amazing
    That keeps us star gazing
What so we think we might see

    Someday we'll find it
    That Rainbow Connection
The lovers the dreamers and me

All of us under its spell
we know that it's probably magic

    Have you been half asleep
    And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
    The young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that I'm supposed to be

    Someday we'll find it
    The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

    Wer durfte machte FKK

Mein Milchmann sagt: Dies Klima hier wen wunderts

    Renegade
    Composer(s): Tommy Shaw
    Performer(s): Styx

Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Law man has put an end to my running and I'm so far from my home
The jig is up, the news is out
    They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
    Retrieved for a bounty
    Never more to go astray
    This'll be the end today
    Of the wanted man

Oh Mama, I've been years on the lam and had a high price on my head
Lawman said 'Get him dead or alive' and it's for sure he'll see me dead
Dear Mama I can hear you cryin', you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows and I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
    They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
    Retrieved for a bounty
    Never more to go astray
    The judge'll have revenge today
    On the wanted man

Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Law man has put an end to my running and I'm so far from my home

The jig is up, the news is out
    They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
    Retrieved for a bounty
    Never more to go astray
    This'll be the end today
    Of the wanted man

The Rain, The Park And Other Things
    Performer(s): The Cowsills

I saw her sitting in the rain
    raindrops falling on her
    She didn't seem to care
She sat there and smiled at me

    And I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
she could make me happy (happy, happy)
Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere

I love the flower girl, oh, I don't know just why
    She simply caught my eye
I love the flower girl, she seemed so sweet and kind
    She crept into my mind

Suddenly the sun broke through (see the sun)
I turned around she was gone (where did she go)
And all I had left was one little flower from her hair

    But I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
she had made me happy (happy, happy)
Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere

City Lights Composer(s): Bill Anderson First recording/First release by: Bill Anderson - 1957/1958 Covered by multiple other artists

A bright array of city lights as far as I can see
The Great White Way shines through the night for lonely guys like me
The cabarets and honky tonks, their flashing signs invite
A broken heart to lose itself in the glow of city lights

Lights that say "Forget her name in a glass of sherry wine"
Lights that offer other girls for empty hearts like mine
They paint a pretty picture of a world that's gay and bright
But it's just a mask for loneliness behind those city lights

The world was dark and God made stars to brighten up the night
But God who put the stars above I don't believe He made those lights
For it's just a place for men to cry when things don't turn out right
Just a place to run away and hide behind those city lights

Lights that say "Forget her love in a different atmosphere"
Lights that lure are nothing but a masquerade for tears
They paint a pretty picture but my arms can't hold them tight
And I just can't say "I love you" to a street of city lights

    The Rain Song
Composer(s): Robert Plant - Jimmy Page
First release by: Led Zeppelin - 1973
    Covered by multiple other artists

This is the springtime of my loving - the second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing - so little warmth I felt before
It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low
It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom
Speak to me only with your eyes
it is to you I give this tune
It isn't hard to recognise - these things are clear to all from time to time

Talk Talk - I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us
but I know that I love you so
but I know that I love you so

These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion - I see the torch we all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient
Upon us all a little rain must fall

City By Night Composer(s): Bernie Baum - Bill Giant - Florence Kaye Performer(s): Elvis Presley

When shadows beckon on dim-lit avenues
    Night people hear the call
From hidden alleys to secret rendezvous
They come out one and all

The city by night, I'm wide awake
It never sleeps, make no mistake

    Whatever sets off the spark
A magic glow lights the dark
And I'm intrigued by the sight
    Of the city by night

Those crowded nightclubs, those picturesque cafes
    Are scenes no-one forgets
And I'm enchanted as music softly plays
    By dancing silhouettes

A city by night, I'm wide awake
It never sleeps, make no mistake

    The evening's full of surprise
    It's magic opens my eyes
And I'm intrigued by the sight
    Of a city by night

    Yeah!
