Sunday Morning Christian Composer(s): Harlan Howard Performer(s): Harlan Howard
Mr. Jones, this car you sold me, isn't all that I desired You swore it was young and healthy, now I find it's old and tired But a deal's a deal you tell me and there's nothing to be done Mr Jones, I'd like you better if you robbed me with a gun
You're a Sunday morning Christian, sir, singin' louder than the rest Beg forgiveness at the altar, with your chin down on your chest But tomorrow will be Monday, you'll revert back to your ways Gougin' kickin' cheatin' shovin', with no thoughts of God or lovin' Don't let me stand in your way Surely God will forgive you next Sunday
Mrs. Smith, your fine attendance shows the Christian life you live But I know your little secret, you expect God to forgive You'll kiss your husband Monday mornin', see him safely on his way Then get ready for your lover, it's a long time till Sunday
You're a Sunday morning Christian, ma'm, singin' louder than the rest Beg forgiveness at the altar, with your chin down on your chest But tomorrow will be Monday, you'll revert back to your ways Gougin' kickin' cheatin' shovin', with no thoughts of God or lovin' Don't let me stand in your way Surely God will forgive you next Sunday
You Only Live Twice Composer(s): Leslie Bricusse; John Barry Performer(s): Nancy Sinatra; and various other artists
You Only Live Twice or so it seems One life for yourself and one for your dreams You drift through the years and life seems tame Till one dream appears and love is its name
And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone
This dream is for you, so pay the price Make one dream come true, you only live twice
And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone
This dream is for you, so pay the price Make one dream come true, you only live twice
Sunday Morning Composer(s): Lou Reed - John Cale First release by: The Velvet Underground & Nico - 1967 Covered by multiple other artists
Sunday morning Brings the dawn in It's just a restless feeling by my side Early dawning Sunday morning It's just the wasted years so close behind Watch out the world's behind you There's always someone around you who will call It's nothing at all
Sunday morning And I'm falling I've got a feeling I don't want to know Early dawning Sunday morning It's all the streets you crossed, not so long ago Watch out the world's behind you There's always someone around you who will call It's nothing at all
You Never Really Wanted Me Composer(s): Charlie Rich Performer(s): Charlie Rich; Candi Station
You never really wanted me Now I can see Yes I can see You took your love and ran away from me You've gone and now you're back What do you want from me? Standing there Please don't cry over me After all you never cried for me before Why start now? Isn't it a little late for that now girl Don't go feeling sorry for yourself Remember I loved you I loved you I never knew the games we played Had such a lasting grip upon the plans we made I was busy laughing waiting for the day Now our time is gone And there's nothing left to say Standing there Please don't cry over me After you never cried for me before...

Can't seem to find somebody, someone to care And I'm on a lonely road that leads to nowhere I need a Sunday kind of love I do all my Sunday dreaming, and all my scheming Every minute, every hour, every day And I'm hoping to discover a certain kind of lover Who will show me the way And my arms need someone to imput To keep me warm when Monday's and Tuesday's grow cold. And I need a love for all my life to have and to hold I want a Sunday kind of love Oh yeahhhhh I don't want a Monday or a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday Friday or Saturday I don't want nothing baby I want a Sunday Kind of Love
You Never Miss The Water Till The Well Runs Dry Composer(s): Roland Howard
When a child I lived at Lincoln With my parents on the farm The lessons that my Mother taught To me were quite a charm She'd often take me on her knee When tired of childish play And as she pressed me to her breast I've heard my Mother say
Waste not, want not Is the maxim I would teach Let your watchword be despatch And practice what you preach Do not let your chances Like sunbeams, pass you by For you never miss the water Till the well runs dry
As years rolled on I grew to be a mischief loving boy Destruction seemed my only sport It was my only joy And well I do remember When oft times well chastised How Father sat close by my side And thus has me advised
Waste not, want not Is the maxim I would teach Let your watchword be despatch And practice what you preach Do not let your chances Like sunbeams, pass you by For you never miss the water Till the well runs dry
When I arrived at manhood I engaged in public life But found the hill was rugged then And full of care and strife I speculated foolishly My losses were severe But still a tiny little voice Kept whispering in my ear
Waste not, want not Is the maxim I would teach Let your watchword be despatch And practice what you preach Do not let your chances Like sunbeams, pass you by For you never miss the water Till the well runs dry
Then I studied strict economy And found to my surprise My funds, instead of sinking Very quickly then did rise I grasped each chance and always Struck the iron while 'twas still hot I seized the opportunities And never once forgot
Waste not, want not Is the maxim I would teach Let your watchword be despatch And practice what you preach Do not let your chances Like sunbeams, pass you by For you never miss the water Till the well runs dry
I am married now and happy I've a charming little Wife We live in peace and harmony Devoid of care and strife Fortune smiles upon us We have little children, three The lessons that I teach them As they cluster round my knee
Waste not, want not Is the maxim I would teach Let your watchword be despatch And practice what you preach Do not let your chances Like sunbeams, pass you by For you never miss the water Till the well runs dry
Sunday In New York Composer(s): Carroll Coates - Peter Nero Performer(s): Bobby Darin and multiple other artists
New York on Sunday Big City taking a nap! Slow down, it's Sunday! Life's a ball, let it fall in your lap! If you've got troubles Just take them out for a walk They'll burst like bubbles In the fun of a Sunday In New York! You can spend time without spending a dime Watching people watch people pass! Later you pause, and in one of those stores There's that face next to yours in the glass! Two hearts stop beating You're both too breathless to speak! Love smiles her greeting Then the dream that has seen you thru the week Comes true on Sunday In New York! New York on Sunday Big City taking a nap! Slow down, it's Sunday! Life's a ball, let it fall in your lap! And if you've got troubles Go take them out for a walk They'll burst like bubbles In the fun of a Sunday In New York! Comes true on Sunday In New York!
You Never Know Who Your Friends Are Composer(s): Al Kooper Performer(s): Al Kooper
I wonder if you are really a friend of mine If I was dyin' of thirst wouldja be my glass of wine? Time goes by so slow ya know YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE
I wonder if you are really a friend of mine If I were buyin' a house wouldja come and countersign? Time goes by so fast ya know YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE
If you were down Ya know I'd be there at your door I'd shower you with food and money After all, what are friends for? They're really such a bore; knockin' at your door Askin' for some more
I wonder if you are really a friend of mine If I were lying in jail wouldja get outta bed and pay my fine? Time stands still for everyone YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE
Time stands still for everyone YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE
Sunday Girl Composer(s): Chris Stein First release by: Blondie - 1978 Covered by multiple other artists
I know a girl from a lonely street Cold as ice cream but still as sweet Dry your eyes Sunday girl Hey, I saw your guy with a different girl Looks like he's in another world Run and hide Sunday girl
Hurry up, hurry up and wait I say awake all week and still I wait I got the blues, please come see What your loving means to me
She can't catch up with the working crowd The weekend mood and she's feeling proud Live in dreams Sunday girl
Baby, I would like to go out tonight If I go with you my folks'll get uptight Stay at home Sunday girl
Hey, I saw your guy with a different girl Looks like he's in another world Run and hide Sunday girl
When I saw you again in the summertime If your love was as sweet as mine I could be Sunday's girl
Hurry up, hurry up and wait I say awake all week and still I wait I got the blues, please come see What your loving means to me I got the blues
You Never Gave It A Try Composer(s): Alec Wilder; Eddie Heywood Performer(s: Eddie Heywood; Peggy King & The Mellomen
If I go, who's to care? Who's to tell me goodbye? So sweetly, completely did I fall in love But you never gave it a try
When I call no one's there, when I write, no reply So gladly, so madly did I fall in love But you never gave it a try
No foolish bride, no broken vow Yet magic died Oh, Darling, how? So I'll go Lord knows where, somewhere under the sky Rememb'ring, rememb'ring how I was in love And you never gave it a try
Yes, I'll go Lord knows where, somewhere under the sky Rememb'ring, rememb'ring how I was in love And you never gave it a try
You Never Even Called Me By My Name Composer(s): Steve Goodman Performer(s): David Allan Coe & Johnny Paycheck; The Countdown Singers
It was all that I could do to keep from cryin' Sometimes it seems so useless to remain You don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even call me by my name
You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride You don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore Even though your on my fightin' side
Chorus And I'll hang around as long as you will let me And I never minded standin' in the rain You don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even call me by my name
I've heard my name a few times in your phone book I've seen it on signs where I've laid But the only time I know, I'll hear David Allan Coe Is when Jesus has his final judgement day
Chorus...
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song and he told me it was the perfect country and western song I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect country and western song because he hadn't said anything about Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent it to me and after reading it, I realized that my friend had written the perfect country and western song And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here:
Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison. And I went to pick her up in the rain. But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got runned over by a damned old train
Chorus So I'll hang around as long as you will let me And I never minded standin' in the rain No You don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even call me, I wonder why you don't call me Why don't you ever call me by my name
Sunday Driving Composer(s): Pober Performer(s): Jerry Lewis
Ahhh, look out where you're goin' Stop that
Sunday driving, Sunday driving Through a million cars I'm diving No escaping, fenders scraping Less you hit a tree
Sunday driving, Sunday driving There's an ambulance arriving A collision in my vision Maybe it was me
A lady driver signals left And then she makes a right I hit her in the rumble seat That isn't too polite!
She screams, "You beast; you awful thing! Where do you think you're going?" And I answer, "Don't look now dear But your rumble seat is showing"
Sunday driving, Sunday driving For a peaceful day I'm striving But each Sunday is the one day Cars are everywhere
Oh boy, here it is Sunday morning and I'm out drivin' in my car And it's so peaceful and quiet The Sun is shinin', the boids is choipin' Oh-oh, there goes a pedestrian Shucks, I missed 'im Ha-ha, I think I'll go 'round the block and try again Gee whiz, I must be out in the country now I'm not hittin' so many people I am out in the country I just hit a cow (baa!) This is a cow?
A car goes by me like a flash He can't do that to me I'll chase him and I'll show 'im I can go as fast as he
And sure enough I pass 'im Like a rabbit in a thicket And I learn it's a patrol car When he writes me out a ticket
...I musta made a boo-boo
Sunday driving, Sunday driving Up the steepest hill I'm striving I'm not quitting till I'm sitting On the very top
I made it Now I'm goin' down Boy, what a view And look at the cliff at the bottom of the road If I ever went over that Ha-ha, impossible! Not in my car What was that? The motor's broke Gee, I better stop The brakes don't work The Brakes Don't Work? I'm goin' fifty miles an hour downhill Now I'm goin' sixty Now it's seventy My motor don't work, my brakes don't work, but I'm not worried AAhhh, my speedometer works I'm goin' faster and faster And now I'm goin' over the cliff......
Gee, I'm flyin' And in my car But cars don't fly! I'll crash and be killed and boy, will Dad give it to me for takin' the car He'll get me in the back room of the house and he'll give me what for! He'll say the conjunctive mood of the people stealing certainly don't designate the fact that other young men know better than others and I certainly don't know the feeling if I don't know why everything...

Sunday Blues Composer(s): Joe Lutcher Performer(s): Julie London
I ain't gonna get those Sunday blues no more I ain't gonna walk that lonesome, tear-stained floor I never knew much about love 'til you walked into my heart I wasn't happy without love - but at least I wasn't torn apart
On Saturday night you swear you're mine alone Then Sunday arrives, and you don't even phone I know you're gonna come knockin' But I ain't gonna answer the door I ain't gonna get those Sunday blues no more
I know you're gonna come knockin' But I ain't gonna answer the door I ain't gonna get those Sunday blues no more No more
You Never Cry Like A Lover Composer(s): Don Henley; John David Souther Performer(s): The Eagles; The 5th Dimension
You never cry like a lover should sigh when it feels real good or see the sky through the stone and wood You never cry like a lover
I thought I saw somebody I loved sleeping deep inside you If I could catch you in an unguarded moment I'd stay right there beside you
You never smile at me late at night Laugh out loud when we get it right You can't get loose if there's too much light You never smile like a lover
TRY A LITTLE HARDER I can't live with you, baby TRY A LITTLE HARDER Can't live without you TRY A LITTLE HARDER And sometimes I believe in love sometimes I doubt it
But your life goes on like a broken down carousel where somebody left the music on I was hopin' you were the one I was hopin' you were the one I was hopin' you were the one I was hopin' you were the one
You never move like you used to do pour it out when you're feelin' blue Somebody must have put some pain in you you never cry like a lover you never cry like a lover YOU NEVER CRY LIKE A LOVER cry YOU NEVER CRY LIKE A LOVER you never cry CRY LIKE A LOVER come on and cry YOU NEVER CRY LIKE A LOVER cry CRY LIKE A LOVER cry YOU NEVER CRY LIKE A LOVER cry cry CRY LIKE A LOVER you never cry (fade)
Sunday Bloody Sunday Composer(s): Bono - The Edge - Adam Clayton - Larry Mullen First release by: U2 - 1983 Covered by multiple other artists
I can't believe the news today I can't close my eyes and make it go away How long, how long must we sing this song How long, how long
'Cause tonight We can be as one tonight
Broken bottles under children's feet Bodies strewn across the dead-end street But I won't heed the battle call It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall
And the battle's just begun There's many lost, but tell me who has won The trench is dug within our hearts And mother's children, brothers, sisters torn apart
You Needed Me Composer(s): Randy Goodrum Performer(s): Anne Murray
I cried a tear You wiped it dry I was confused You cleared my mind I sold my soul You bought it back for me And held me up and gave me dignity Somehow you needed me
You gave me strength To stand alone again To face the world Out on my own again You put me high upon a pedestal So high that I could almost see eternity You needed me You needed me
And I can't believe it's you I can't believe it's true I needed you and you were there And I'll never leave, why should I leave I'd be a fool 'Cause I've finally found someone Who really cares
You held my hand When it was cold When I was lost You took me home You gave me hope When I was at the end And turned my lies Back into truth again You even called me friend
You gave me strength To stand alone again To face the world Out on my own again You put me high upon a pedestal So high that I could almost see eternity You needed me You needed me
Sunday And Me Composer(s): Neil Diamond Performer(s): Jay & the Americans
Girls, have you got the kind of man everyone looks up to? Well, if you don't, listen; I'll tell you what to do Get your man, take him by the hand, and come on here to me I'm here to tell you about equal opportunity
There was a time when the world was fickle And it may have been hard to succeed Well, times have changed now And school and training is what you really need It doesn't matter who you may be Everyone's equal with the same opportunity
Things are changing for the better Things are changing for the better Now's the time for you to better yourself
Life's got problems, but you can make it And I'm gonna tell you why Just like the early bird that catches the worm You gotta get up, go out and try Your race or color won't stand in your way Don't wait for tomorrow; today is your day
Things are changing for the better Things are changing for the better Now's the time for you to better yourself
Good jobs are out there, just waiting to be found But they won't come to you, uh uh! You gotta get up and look around!
It doesn't matter who you may be Everyone's equal with the same opportunity
Things are changing for the better Things are changing for the better Now's the time for you to better yourself
You Need Love Like I Do (Don't You?) Composer(s): Barrett Strong; Norman Whitfield Performer(s): Gladys Knight & the Pips; Butanes Soul Revue; The Jackson 5; Tom Jones; Clydie King; Heather Small; The Temptations
Well, well, well, well Seems like it was only yesterday When my mama told me don't fall in love With the first guy that comes your way He was handsome and nice But I took her advice and passed him by Years have passed and don't look Like love's gonna give me a second try Boy the look on your face tells me you understand could it be your love life's like mine Needs a helping hand well, well You need love like I do (don't you)
Boy I can tell by the way You look when I'm looking at you I know it ain't fit and proper for a girl to talk this way But I can't cope with this loneliness Not one more doggone day Everyday has been an uphill climb Keeping my hopes a-float Judging from your silence boy You must be in the same boat ain't it true now You need love like I do (don't you) Boy I can tell by the way you look When I'm looking at you Well, well, well you need love Like I do (don't you)
