    Luck Be A Lady
    Composer(s): Frank Loesser
    First performance/First recording/First release by: Robert Alda - 1950/1950/1951
    Covered by multiple other artists

    They call you Lady Luck
But there is room for doubt
At times you have a very unladylike way of running out
You're on this date with me
    The pickin's have been lush
And yet before this evening is over
You might give me the brush
    You might forget your manners
    You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray

    Luck be a lady tonight
    Luck be a lady tonight
Luck if you've ever been a lady to begin with
    Luck be a lady tonight

    Luck let a gentleman see
How nice a dame you can be
I know the way you've treated other guys you've been with
Luck be a lady with me

A lady doesn't leave her escort
It isn't fair, it isn't nice
A lady doesn't wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy's dice

So let's keep this party polite
Never get out of my site
Stick with me, baby, I'm the fellow you came in with
    Luck be a lady tonight

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen

Money Is The Root Of All Evil Composer(s): Joan Whitney - Alex Kramer Performer(s): The Andrews Sisters

    La-la-la
Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
    Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away

If a woman calls a man honey
And it's on account of his money
Honey & money will soon be gone
Take it away, take it away, take it away

I got the one I love
I got the moon & stars above
I got my youth & health
What do I want with wealth?

Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
    Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away

    La-la-la

    Haven't got a cent but don't worry
Haven't got a job but no hurry
I would answer if they gave me gold
Take it away, take it away, take it away

If you want no income tax mister
Take it easy & relax mister
When they offer work be strong & say
Take it away, take it away, take it away

I got the one I love
I got the moon & stars above
I got my youth & my health
What do I want with wealth?

Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
    Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away, take it away
Take it away, take it away, take it away, take it away

    Lucille
    Has messed my mind up

    Lucille
    Has messed my mind up
    But I still need her
    You know I need her

    Whatcha tryna doota me

You got me goin' outa my mind

    Lucille
    Has tore my heart up
    But I still love her
    I really love her

    Lucille
    Has tore my heart up
    But I still want her
    I really want her

She treats me like my hard
    Is made of stone
    She runs around
    And leaves me home alone

    She doesn't answer
When I call her on the phone
    She messed up my mind
    I'm cryin' alla the time

    Lucille
    Has messed my mind up
    But I still love her
    I still love her

    Lucille
    Has tore my heart up
    But I still want her
    Hey, I still love her

    Lucille
    Has tore my heart up
    But I still need her
    I really need her, baby

    Oh, Lucille
    Has tore my heart up
But you know I still love her ...

Het Spel Kaarten ((English Versions: Deck Of Cards (Phil Harris) - 1948; The Red Deck Of Cards (Red River Dave McEnery) - 1954 A Hillbilly's Deck Of Cards (Ferlin Husky) - 1966; Cards Spiritualised; The Soldier's Almanac Bible And Prayer Book)) Performer(s): Cowboy Gerard & De Rodeo Riders - 1965

    Suivaient Lucille
Sur le chemin de son école
    En pleine ville
Pressant le pas, souple et gracile
    Lucille frôlait le sol
Battant des cils d'un air tranquille
    Vers son école

You know, the landlord rang my front door bell I let it ring for a long, long spell I went to the window I peeped through the blind And asked him to tell me what's on his mind He said Money, honey Money, honey Money, honey If you want to get along with me Well, I screamed and I hollered I was so hard-pressed I called the woman that I loved the best I finally got my baby about half past three She said I'd like to know what you want with me I said Money, honey Money, honey Money, honey If you want to get along with me Well, I said tell me baby, what's wrong with you? From this day on our romance is through I said, tell me baby, face to face How could another man take my place? She said Money, honey Money, honey Money, honey If you want to get a long with me Well, I've learned my lesson and now I know The sun may shine and the winds may blow The women may come and the women may go But before I say I love you so I want Money, honey Money, honey Money, honey If you want to get along with me

Money-can't make you turn your head now
Money-can't get you into bed now
    Money
Honey-can't give more than you get now
Money Honey you aint' got no respect
But I like to watch you lust to see what you can get
And Money Honey gets you breakfast in bed
And Money Honey, oh you drive me out my head

Living like a princess with a frown
Giving-I can't afford to cry on
Money, Honey, hey, girl come on, don't bring me down

Money Honey you ain't got no respect ...

Money-must it buy all I can get now
Money-without it how far will I get now
    Money
Honey, hold it you'd be losing my respect now

Money Honey you ain't got no respect...

Life is so strange when its changin', yes indeed
Well I've seen the hard times and the pressures been on me
But I keep on workin' like the workin' man do
And I've got my act together, gonna walk all over you
    Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around, 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
    Gimme back my bullets

Sweet talkin' people done ran me out of town
I drank enough whiskey to float a battleship around
But I'm leavin' this game one step ahead of you
And you will not hear me cry 'cause I do not sing the blues

    Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around, 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong

Been up and down since I turned seventeen
Well I've been on top, and then it seems I lost my dream
But I got it back, I'm feelin' better everyday
Tell all them pencil pushers, better get out of my way
    Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around, 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Oh put 'em back where they belong

    Money Down
    Composer(s): Wally Bryson
    Performer(s): The Raspberries

Never let no woman abuse me
Never let no woman misuse me
Never let no woman confuse me
    Never laid my money down
Little woman think I got a heart of stone
'Cause I just wanna love 'em and leave 'em alone
    Money down!

Lotta funky women been tryin' to scare me
Tell me that they'll leave me if I ain't true
Ain't been a one who didn't have to share me
Ya know that when they leave it ain't me that's blue
Little woman can't ya see I'm bound to roam
And I got no fears about livin' alone
    Money down!

Little woman tryin' to put the chains on me
Til my dyin' day I'm gonna wanna be free
Sorry 'bout it, baby, but that's just me!

    Yeah, all right! All right!
    Ooh, yeah!
    Ooh, yeah, yeah!
    Money down!

Said I never let no woman abuse me
And I never let no woman misuse me
I never let no woman confuse me
    Never laid my money down
Little woman think I got a heart of stone
'Cause I just wanna love 'em and leave 'em alone
    Yeah! Yes I do
    Money down! Uh-huh
    Money down! Money down!
    Said, Money down, yeah!
    Oh, you can leave me
    Oh yeah, oh no
Money down, down, down, down, down

Gimme A Pigfoot (And A Bottle Of Beer)
    Composer(s): Coot Grant; Wesley Wilson
    Performer(s): Bessie Smith;
    and various other artists

    Spoken:
    Twenty-five cents, hah, no, no
I wouldn't pay twenty-five cents to go in nowhere
    'Cause listen here.....

Up in Harlem ev'ry Saturday night
When the highbrows get together its just too tight
They all congregates at an all night strut
And what they do is tut-tut-tut

Old Hannah Brown from 'cross town
Gets full of corn and starts breakin' 'em down
Just at the break of day
You can hear old Hannah say

Gimme a pigfoot and a bottle of beer
Send me 'gain, I don't care
I feel just like I wanna clown
Give the piano player a drink
    Because he's bringin' me down!
    He's gotta rhythm, Y-e-e-a-a-h!
    When he stomps his feet
He sends me right off to sleep
Check all your razors and your guns
We gonna be 'rested when the wagon comes
I wanna pigfoot and a bottle of beer
Send me 'cause I don't care
Play me 'cause I don't care

Gimme a pigfoot and a bottle of beer
Send me 'gain, I don't care
I feel just like I wanna clown
Give the piano player a drink
    Because he's bringin' me down
    He's got rhythm, Y-e-e-a-a-h!
    When he stomps his feet
He sends me right off to sleep
Check all your razors and your guns
Do the shim-sham-shimmy 'til the risin' sun
Give me a reefer and a gang o' gin
Play me 'cause I'm in my sin
Play me 'cause I'm full of gin

Lucille ((aka Lucille (Michel Pagliaro) - 1975))
((Adapted from: Lucille (Little Richard) - 1957))
((Dutch Version: Lucille (Normaal) - 1990))
Composer(s): Little Richard - Al Collins - Alain Gaunay - Claude Pitkowski
    Performer(s): Johnny Hallyday - 1964

    Lucille
    Pourquoi reviens-tu ce soir?
    Lucille
    Maintenant il est trop tard
    Entre nous c'est fini
Je ne veux plus te revoir

    Lucille
    Pourquoi viens-tu t'excuser?
    Lucille

    Oh! Lucille

    Oh! Lucille
Je ne sais pas ce qui m'a pris
    Lucille
Comme un fou je suis parti
    Tu avais tout brisé
    Tout, en une seule nuit

    Oh! Lucille

Money Burns A Hole In My Pocket
    Composer(s): Bob Hilliard; Jule Styne
    Performer(s): Dean Martin;
    Troy Connolly; Jeff Harnar

Money burns a hole in my pocket
How I wish I had millions of dollars and nothing to do
But just buy pretty presents for you

Money burns a hole in my pocket
How I wish I had oil wells in Texas to keep me supplied
With money while I sit by your side

    Every day of the week
    We would visit the store
All the beautiful things you see
    Would soon be yours
Cuz money burns a hole in my pocket
So I'm bringing your perfume and candy and roses of red
And wishing they were diamonds instead

    Every day of the week
    We kinda visit the store
All the beautiful things you see
    Would soon be yours
Money burns a hole in my pocket
So I'm bringing your perfume and candy and roses of red
And wishing they were diamonds instead

In a bar in Toledo across the depot
On a barstool she took off her ring
    I thought I'd get closer
    So I walked on over
I sat down and ask her name
When the drink finally hit her
    She said I'm no quitter
But I finally quit living on drinks
    I'm hungry for laughter
    And here ever after

In the mirror I saw him
    I closely watch him
I thought how he looked out of place
    He came to the woman
    Sat down beside me
He had a strange look on his face
    The big hands are callous
    He looked like a mountain
From a minute I thought I was dead
    But he started shaking
But his big heart was breaking

You picked the fine time to leave me, Lucille
Four hungry children and a crop in the field
    I've had some bad time
    Live thru' some sad times
But this time the hurting won't heal
You pick the fine time to leave me, Lucille

    After he left her
    I ordered some whisky
I thought how she made hime look small
From thee lights of the barroom
    To rented hotel room
We walked without talking at all
    She was a beauty
But when she came to me
She must have thought I lose my mind
    I couldn't hold her
The words that he told her
The words that he told her
Kept coming back time after time

    Money And Fame
    Composer(s): Matthias Jabs; Herman Rarebell
    Performer(s): Scorpions

    You know nothing about loving
You lost somewhere down the line
    You know nothing about giving
    You should draw the line

You keep looking out for something
    Something you're never gonna find
When will, will you show your feelings
    You will lose your mind

    Who's to blame my love
    You play a dangerous game
    Who's to blame my love
All you want is money and fame

    You play, play with emotions
You need, need a stepping stone
    You're out, out for sensations
Don't you, don't you feel alone

    Who's to blame my love
    You play a dangerous game
    Who's to blame my love
All you want is money and fame
