The Death Of Little Kathy Fiscus Composer(s): Jimmie Osborne Performer(s): Jimmie Osborne; Howard Vokes
On April the eighth, the year forty-nine Death claimed a little child, so pure and so fine Kathy they called her, met her doom that day I know it was God that called her away
Playmates of Kathy were all havin' fun The story was told, they all started to run And as they looked back, she wasn't there It's so sad to think of this tragic affair
Just like a beast in a forest that day The abandoned well took Kathy away For over two days the well was her tomb Everyone kept prayin' they'd get her out soon
Thousands were there, from far and from near Workmen they struggled, against sadness and tears But after two days, their hopes grew so weak They called down to Kathy, but she never did speak
After working so hard, both day and night Digging for hours, she came into sight The little darlin' was dead, her life it was gone Now in San Merino there's a heartbroken home
I'm sure she's an angel in God's peaceful fold Playing with children in a mansion of gold As I stand alone, humbly I bow I know Kathy's happy, up there with God now
Carolina Sunshine
Composer(s): Walter Hirsch - Erwin R. Schmidt
Down in Carolina where the sunbeams play Down where all the world seems bright Pickaninies romping all the day In the cotton fields of white How my heart is yearning to be there once more Just to hear the darkies song Carolina sunshine calls me back to the place where I belong
Carolina Sun I'm lonesome Carolina Sun I'm blue When the day is done I'm pining For a sight of you Makes no difference where I wander Any place I chance to roam When the golden sun sinks in the West Then I think of home
Flames Of Paradise Composer(s): Bruce Roberts; Andy Goldmark Performer(s): Elton John; Jennifer Rush
You're walking, talking like a flame, baby You're walking, talking like a flame, baby
Never knew what my heart would be facing Guess I must have been blind saying goodbye yo you, baby Close my eyes at night I can taste it I'm running back in the fire where I once had you, baby
You said don't ever leave me But I say that's something I won't ever do
I want you back in my arms In the flames of paradise In the flames of paradise I want you back in my arms In the flames of paradise The flames of paradise
I give all of my love just to you It's been so long baby I give you all my love waits for you Don't take too long baby
I've been making some brave conversation Telling friends I'm way better off without you Then I was living in my imagination Thinking I could make it without you too baby
My heart tried to deceive me But that's one thing it just can't do
You said don't ever leave me Oh that's one thing I won't ever do
Hey kids, let me tell you how I met your mom We were dancin' and romancin' at the Senior Prom It was no infatuation But a gradual graduation From a boy to a man Let me tell you while I can The soda pop came free
Hey sis one kiss and I was heaven bound Now who would have guessed Milton's Paradise Lost Could be found?
But in the eyes of the Dean his daughter Was doin' what she shouldn'a oughta But a man's got to do What a man's got to do The consequence should be Church bells, three swells The Dean, his daughter, and me
They were dating in the park They were smooching in the dark Of a doorway for two She whispered "I love you Ooh, you know I never felt this way before Ooh, you know the elevator in my heart Has gone awol awol awol"
And then I kissed her And when I kissed her It's a wonderful world When you're rolling in kisses
Now, the paint is peeling Now, and when the chips are dowin Now, you kinda lose all feeling Now, your head goes round and round Round and round and round and round And round and round and round I'm throwing myself off this train
Hum drum days And a hum drum ways Hum drum days And a hum drum ways Hum drum days, he's got Hum drum ways, oh boy
Hey, you know I'm really earning now My ship came in with a cargo of dollars My name's lit up on the prow It's a wonderful world When you're rolling in dollars Rolling in dollars Rolling in dollars Now

The Deadwood Stage Composer(s): Sammy Fain - Paul Francis Webster Performer(s): Doris Day and multiple other artists
Oh, the Deadwood stage is a-rolling on over the plains With the curtains flappin and the driver a-snappin the reins A beautiful sky, a wonderful day Whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away
Oh, the Deadwood stage is a-headin on over the hills Where the Injun arrows are thicker than porcupine quills Dangerous land, no time to delay So, whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away
Were headed straight for town Loaded down with a fancy cargo Care of Wells & Fargo, Illinois, boy
Oh, the Deadwood stage is a-comin on over the crest Like a homing-pigeon thats a-hankerin after its nest Twenty-three miles weve covered today So, whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away, whip-crack-away
Introducing Henry Miller Just as busy as a fizzy sasparilla Aint a showman any smarter operates the Golden Garter When the cream of Deadwood City comes to dine And Im glad to say hes a friend of mine Hi Joe, say, where dya get them fancy clothes I know, off some fellas laundry line Hi Beau, arent you a prairie rose Smellin like a watermelon vine Heres a man the sheriff watches On his gun theres more than twenty-seven notches On the draw theres no one faster and youre flirting with disaster When Bill Hickoks reputation you malign And Im glad to say hes a very good friend of a friend of mine
Carolina In The Morning
Composer(s): Walter Donaldson - Gus Kahn
First performance/First recording by: Willie & Eugene Howard - 1922/Marion Harris - 1922
Covered by multiple other artists
"Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina"
Wishing is good time wasted Still it's a habit they say Wishing for sweet's I've tasted That's all I do all day Maybe there's nothing in wishing But, speaking of wishing I'll say
Nothing could be finer Than to be in Carolina In the morning
No one could be sweeter Than my sweetie when I meet her In the morning
When the morning glories Twine around the door Whispering pretty stories I long to hear once more Strolling with my girlie Where the dew is pearly early In the morning
Butterflies all flutter up And kiss each little buttercup At dawning If I had Alladin's lamp For only a day I'd make a wish And here's what I'd say
Nothing could be finer Than to be in Carolina In the morning
Dreaming was meant for night time I live in dreams all the day I know it's not the right time But still I dream away What could be sweeter than dreaming Just dreazming and drift away
Flamenco Des Flandres Performer(s): Georges Moustaki
D-Day Dodgers Performer(s): Ian Campbell Folk Group - 1966 and multiple other artists
There is a song the Eighth Army used to sing Marching through the desert, marching with a swing But now they're on a different game Although the tune is still the same The words have all been altered The words we're singing still...
We're the D-Day Dodgers, here in Italy Drinking all the vino, always on a spree We didn't land with Eisenhower And so they think we're just a shower For we're the D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
We're the D-Day dodgers, out here in Italy Always drinking vino, always on a spree Eighth Army scroungers and their tanks We go to war in ties, like swanks We are the D-Day Dodgers Way out in Italy
Here's to Lady Astor, our pin up girl out here She's the dear old lady, who sends us such good beer And when we get our Astor band We'll be the proudest in the land For we're the D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
We landed in Salerno, a holiday with pay Jerry brought the band out to cheer us on our way Showed us the sights and gave us tea We all sang songs, the beer was free To welcome D-Day Dodgers To sunny Italy
Salerno and Cassino, were taken in our stride We didn't go to fight there, we went there for the ride Anzio and Sanzio were just names We only went to look for dames The artful D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
Around Lake Trasimano, we had a lovely time Bags of wine and women, they didn't cost a dime Base wallahs, amgot and the Yanks All stayed in Rome to dodge the tanks For we're the D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
We stayed a week in Florence, polished off the wine Then thumbed our way to Rimini, through the Gothic Line Soon to Bologna we will go When Jerry's gone across the Po For we're the D-Day Dodgers The lads that D-Day dodged
We hear the boys in France are going home on leave After six months service, it's a shame they're not relieved But we can carry on out here For what may be a few more years For we're the D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
Once we heard a rumour we were going home Back to dear old Blighty, never more to roam Then someone said in France you'll fight We answered: "No, we'll just sit tight!" For we're the D-Day Dodgers The lads that D-Day dodged
When the war is over and we've done our bit Climbing over mountains, through mud and sleet and Then we will all be sent out east Till B.L.A. have been released For we're the D-Day Dodgers, Out here in Italy.
Forgotten by the many, remembered by the few We'd our armistice when an armestice was new One million Germans gave up to us We finished our war without much fuss For we're the D-Day Dodgers Out here in Italy
Dearest Lady Astor, you think you're mighty hot Standing on the platform, talking tommyrot Dear England's sweetheart and her pride We think your mouth's too bleedin' wide >From all the D-Day Dodgers In sunny Italy
If you look around the mountains in the mud and rain You'll find scattered crosses, some which bear no name Heart break and toil and suffering gone The boys beneath them slumber on For they're the D-Day Dodgers Who stayed in Italy

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Maybe just like a friend of mine It hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
Karin she's a silver sun You best walk her way and watch it shinin' Watch her watch the mornin' come A silver tear appearing now I'm cryin' Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind
There ain't no doubt it no ones mind That loves the finest thing around Whisper something soft and kind And hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm dyin' Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Maybe just like a friend of mine It hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
Dark and silent last last night I think I might have heard the highway calling Geese in flight and dogs that bite Signs that might be omens say I going, going I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
With a holy host of others standing 'round me Still I'm on the dark side of the moon And it seems like it goes on like this forever You must forgive me If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Maybe just like a friend of mine It hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
We didn't know what love was all about till little Dagny came to town Now we're sitting in her coffee shop dunkin' doughnuts all day long All of us singing desperately
Dagny, come back and spill wow-wow-wow- -Dagny, one more refill Listen to my heart sing Trala-diddle dill
Such a beauty we had never seen so we began to plot and scheme The best of friends in Dagny's coffee shop becoming rivals for this dream to see who was the first to win the love of
Carolina Hard Core Ecstasy
Composer(s): Frank Zappa
Performer(s): Frank Zappa; The Muffin Men
I coulda swore her hair was made of rayon
She wore a Milton Bradley Crayon
But she was something I could lay on
Can't remember what became of me ...
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy
She put a Doobie Brothers tape on
(La la la la la-ahh la)
I had a Roger Daltrey cape on
(A Roger Daltrey cape on)
There was a bed I dumped her shape on
Can't remember what became of me ...
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy
Somewhat later on
I woke up and she was gone
There was dew out on the lawn
In the sunrise
Later she came back
With a rumpled paper sack
Which she told me would contain
A surprise
She stuck her hand right in it to the bottom
Said she knew I'd be surprised she got 'em
Take a Charleston pimp to spot 'em
Then she gave a pair of shoes to me ...
Plastic leather, 14 triple D
I said: "I wonder what's the shoes for?"
She told me: "Don't you worry no more!"
And got right down there on the tile floor
Now Darling Stomp All Over Me! ...
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy
Is this something new
Having people stomp on you?
Is it what I need to do
For your pleasure?
(Yo' pleasure ... it's ... uh ... uh ... all I need)
"What is this, a quiz?
Don't you worry what it is
It is merely just a moment
I can treasure ..."
(What is ...?) (You know ...)
By ten o'clock her arms and legs were rendered
She couldn't talk 'cause her mouth had been extendered
Looked to me as though she had been blendered
But was this abject misery?
No! No!
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy!
Well ...
But was this abject misery?
No! No!
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy!
But was this abject misery?
No! No!
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy!
It might seem strange to Herb and Dee
Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy!
The Days Of Sand And Shovels
Composer(s): Bud Reneau - Doyle Marsh
Performer(s): Bobby Vinton
and multiple other artists
When I noticed her the first time
I was outside running barefoot in the rain
She lived in the house next door
Her nose was pressed against the window pane
When I looked at her she smiled
And showed a place where two teeth used to be
And I heard her ask her mom
If she could come outside and play with me
Soon the days of sand and shovels
Gave way to the mysteries of life
Then I noticed she was changing
And I looked at her through different eyes
We became as one and knew a love
Without beginning or an end
And everyday I lived with her
Was like a new day dawning once again
And I've loved her since
Every doll was Shirley Temple
Soda pop was still a nickel
Jam was on her fingertips
Milk was circled on her lips
After many years our love grew silent
And at night I heard her cry
And when she left me in the fall
I knew that this would be our last goodbye
I was man enough to give her
Everything she needed for a while
But in searching for a pefect love
I found that I could not give her a child
Now she lives a quiet life
And is a mother of a little girl
And everytime I pass her house
My thoughts go back into another world
Cause I see her little girl
Her nose is pressed against the window pane
And she thinks I'm a lonely man
Who wants to come inside out of the rain
And I've loved her since
Every doll was Shirley Temple
Soda pop was still a nickel
Jam was on her fingertips
Milk was circled on her lips

Il Volto Della Vita ((Adapted from: Days Of Pearly Spencer (David McWilliams) - 1967)) Composer(s): David McWilliams - Daiano - Mogol Performer(s): Caterina Caselli - 1968
