    The Day I Met Marie
    Composer(s): Hank Marvin
    Performer(s): Cliff Richard

    Imaging a still summer's day
    When nothing is moving
    Least Of All Me
I lay on my back in the hay
    The warm sun was soothing.
    It made me feel good
    The day I met Marie

The Sound of her whisper hello
Came tiptoing softly into my head
I opened my eyes kinda slow
    And there she was smiling
    It made me feel good
    The day I met Marie

    With the laughing eyes
She'd toss her hair and tantalize
She came to touch me then she's gone
    Just like a summer breeze

    I remember her kiss
    So soft on my brow
And the way that she said
    Baby go to sleep now
    Baby go to sleep now

I woke with the chill in the air
The warm sun no longer hung in the sky
I reached out but she was not there
She'd gone where she came from
    But I still feel good
    To think i've known Marie
    With the laughing eyes
She'd toss her hair and tantalize
She came to touch me then she's gone
    Just like a summer breeze

Carnations On The Roof Composer(s): Pete Atkin - Clive James Performer(s): Pete Atkin

He worked setting tools for a multi-purpose punch
In a shop that made holes in steel plates
He could hear himself think through a fifty minute lunch
Of the kids, gas and stoppages, the upkeep and the rates
While he talked about Everton and Chelsea with his mates

With gauge and micrometer, with level and with rule
While chuck and punch were pulsing like a drum
He checked the finished product like a master after school
The slugs looked like money and the cutting-oil like scum
And to talk with a machinist he made signals like the dumb

Though he had no great gifts of personality or mind
He was generally respected, and the proof
Was a line of hired Humbers tagging quietly behind
A fat Austin Princess with carnations on the roof

Forty years of metal tend to get into your skin
The surest coin you take home from your wage
The green cleaning-jelly only goes to rub it in
And that glitter in the wrinkle of your knuckle shows your age
Began when the dignity of work was still the rage

He was used and discarded in a game he didn't own
But when the moment of destruction came
He showed that a working man is more than flesh and bone
The hands on his chest flared more brightly than his name
For a technicolor second as he rolled into the flame

Though he had no great gifts of personality or mind
He was generally respected, and the proof
Was a line of hired Humbers tagging quietly behind
A fat Austin Princess with carnations on the roof

    Five More Miles To Folsom
    Performer(s): Lee Hazlewood

    Five more miles to Folsom
This train can't move too slow
    Ninety-nine years at Folsom
    Then they'll let me go

    Shot a man in Dallas
He made a fool of me
    Thought they never catched me
How wrong can one guy be

    Five more miles to Folsom
This train can' t move too slow
    Ninety-nine years at Folsom
    Then they'll let me go

Let my love at the station
    Cryin' in the rain
Broke her heart at the station
    'Cause I couldn't explain

    Five more miles to Folsom
This train can' t move too slow
    Ninety-nine years at Folsom
    Then they'll let me go

Sit and stare out my window
    At someone else's moon
And ask why was I born
    Ninety-nine years too soon

Carnation Composer(s): Paul Weller First release by: The Jam - 1982

If you gave me a fresh carnation
I would only crush it's tender petals
With me you'll have no escape
And at the same time there'll be nowhere to settle

I trample down all life in my wake
I eat it up and take the cake
I just avert my eyes to the pain
Of someone's loss helping my gain

If you gave me a dream for my pocket
You'd be plugging in the wrong socket
With me there's no room for the future
With me there's no room with a view at all

I am out of season all year round
Hear machinery roar to my empty sound
Touch my heart and feel winter
Hold my hand and be doomed forever

If you gave me a fresh carnation
I would only crush it's tender petals
With me you'll have no escape
And at the same time there'll be nowhere to settle

And if you're wondering by now who I am
Look no further than the mirror
Because I am the greed and fear
And every ounce of hate in you

All week long I dreamed about our Saturday date
Don't you know that Sunday morning you can sleep late

Give me five minutes more, only five minutes more
Let me stay, let me stay in your arms

Here am I, begging for only five minutes more
Only five minutes more of your charms

All week long I dreamed about our Saturday date
Don't you know that Sunday morning you can sleep late

Give me five minutes more, only five minutes more
Let me stay, let me stay in your arms

    The Day I Get Home
    Performer(s): Squeeze

When this young man comes rolling home
The lamp posts move and in the road
I sing and dance in falling rain
It's good to be back home again
The roads of air that map the globe
Take me away to places new
I'm lucky I can get around
I'm taking off and touching down
When I get home it’s much the same
    The tax returns return again
The news is on it isn't good
I see the trees but not the wood

The road stretches out as far as I can see
And I eat the lines ahead of me
    It's experience
    As the days unfold
    But there's nothing quite like
    The day I get home

When this young man comes rolling home
The cheese on toast is in the grill
    Memories are filed away
I come and go, it's fun that way
The roads of air that map the globe
Go East and West and North and South
I like to look and see the sights
I stay up late and hit the heights

When I return things haven't changed
Neither have I, I like to think
The world's an oyster on a plate
I get around and get up late

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen

Carmen's Story Composer(s): Michel Rivgauche - Charles Dumont Performer(s): Edith Piaf; Attila Bardoczy

    Dans le grand studio
    De cinéma
    Sur le plateau
    Tout le monde est là
Les deux vedettes et les acteurs
    Metteur en scène et producteur
    Décorateurs, et assistants
Et puis la foule des figurants
On va tourner la première scène
    Du nouveau film d'après Carmen
Et quelqu'un crie: "Silence! On tourne!"
    Carmen's story! Carmen's story!

Comme si le destin, tout simplement
    N'attendait plus que ce moment
Il vient frapper en cet instant
    Parmi la foule des figurants
    Alors soudain, elle l'aperçoit
Il lève la tête, et il la voit
Et dans leurs yeux il y a l'amour
Mais un amour de fin des jours...
Et quelqu'un crie: "Très bon! Coupez!"
    Carmen's story! Carmen's story!

On tourne!"
    Carmen's story! Carmen's story!

Mais dans le studio de cinéma
    Voilà qu'un jour il l'aperçoit
En train de rire, rire aux éclats
Avec cet homme qui est là-bas...
Ça lui fait mal, il veut partir...
    Mais le destin doit s'accomplir
Et dans la foule des figurants
Elle est tombée, sans même crier...
Quelqu'un a dit: "Très bon! Coupez!"
    Carmen's story! Carmen's story!

    Five Long Years
    Composer(s): Eddie Boyd

Well, have you ever been mistreated?
D'you know what I'm talking about?
Well, have you ever been mistreated?
D'you know what I'm talking about?
I worked five long years for one girl
She had the nerve to put me out

Got a job in a steel mill
    Shucking steel like a slave
Five days and every Friday, I work and bring home my pay
    If you've ever been mistreated
D'you know what I'm talking about?
Well, I worked five long years for one girl
She had the nerve to put me out

I finally learned my lesson, should a long time ago
The next little girl that I marry
She work and bring me some gold
    If you've ever been mistreated
D'you know what I'm talking about?
Well, I worked five long years for one girl
She had the nerve to put me out

I finally learned my lesson, should a long time ago
The next little girl that I marry
She work and bring me some gold
    If you've ever been mistreated
D'you know what I'm talking about?
Well, I worked five long years for one girl
    She had the nerve
    She had the nerve
    She had the nerve
She had the nerve to put me out

    The Day Begins
    Performer(s): The Moody Blues

Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is gray and yellow white
But we decide which is right
    And which is an illusion?
Pinprick holes in a colourless sky
Let insipid figures of light pass by
The mighty light of ten thousand suns
Challenges infinity and is soon gone
Night time, to some a brief interlude
To others the fear of solitude
Brave Helios wake up your steads
Bring the warmth the countryside needs

    celle que j'attends?
    Je l'attends pourtant
    depuis si longtemps

    Pourquoi tu n'arrives pas
    comme dans un film américain?

    et voilà les violons

Où et quand et quand et quoi

    Five Little Ducks

Five little ducks that I once knew
Fat were three and skinny were two
But, the one little duck with the feather on his back
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!

Down to the water they would go
    Wiggle woggle, wiggle woggle
    To and fro
But, the one little duck with the feather on his back
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!

    (sing the following verse slowly)
Down from the water they would come
    Wiggle woggle, wiggle woggle
    Ho, ho, hum
But, the one little duck with the feather on his back
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
    Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with a quack, quack, quack!

    The Day Before You Came
((Dutch Version: Met Kerst Ben Ik Alleen (André Hazes) - 1992))
Composer(s): Benny Andersson - Björn Ulvaeus
First release by: ABBA - 1982
    Covered by multiple other artists

Must have left my house at eight, because I always do
My train, I'm certain, left the station just when it was due
I must have read the morning paper going into town
And having gotten through the editorial, no doubt I must have frowned
I must have made my desk around a quarter after nine
With letters to be read, and heaps of papers waiting to be signed
I must have gone to lunch at half past twelve or so
The usual place, the usual bunch
And still on top of this I'm pretty sure it must have rained
    The day before you came

I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day
Without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away
At five I must have left, there's no exception to the rule
A matter of routine, I've done it ever since I finished school
    The train back home again
Undoubtedly I must have read the evening paper then
Oh yes, I'm sure my life was well within it's usual frame
    The day before you came

Must have opened my front door at eight o'clock or so
And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go
I'm sure I had my dinner watching something on TV
There's not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I didn't see
I must have gone to bed around a quarter after ten
I need a lot of sleep, and so I like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while
The latest one by Marilyn French or something in that style
It's funny, but I had no sense of living without aim
    The day before you came

    And turning out the light
I must have yawned and cuddled up for yet another night
And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain
    The day before you came

    Carmen Murdered Bizet
    Performer(s): Spike Jones

Hello, music lovers, this is Spike Jones
inviting you to come with us to the opera house
for a City Slicker performance of the opera Carmen
The conductor ascends the podium, stamps his foot for
attention - and from the basement he conducts the overture

As the curtain rises on act one
we see the outside of the Seville bubble gum factory
The happy bubble gum girls are singing

We're the girls, yes we're the girls
that make the best bubble gum
Chew our gum, you'll never stop
All day long you'll pop and pop
    You'll blow and blow
Until at last you blow your top

    Carmen enters
She is a beautiful girl who weighs 300 pounds
She is supposed to fill out the role of the soprano
She not only fills it out, she overflows it
Carmen sings of her new sweetheart, Escapillow the Toreador

I'm in love, I'm in love with a wonderful man
She's in love with a wonderful man
    And his name is Escapillow
He has eyes, they're the cutest that I've ever seen
One is blue and the other is green
And the middle one is yellow

When you go out and dance, does he hold you near?
    No, no, no!
Well, does he whisper words of love in your ear?
    No, no, no!
    Does he enjoy peachypooh?
    Ah ah!
    What does this toreador do?
All he likes to do is throw the bull

Does this toreador like to spark
When he's holding you close in the dark?
No, no, no! No, no, no! No, no, no! No, no, nooooooooo! (Heeew!)
All I know is all he likes to do is throw the bull
    Throw the bull?
    Throw the bull!

Carmen hits a note so high that she cracks the record (click)
the record (click) the record (click) the record (click)
    the record (click) the record

And they're off for act two

Carmen sings the well known bravachi pizzicato poco allegro moderato
from the third movement of the andante allegretto

    Aahhhhhh!
Exhausted she returns to her dressing room
While she is resting, the soldiers march into town
We hear the band in the distance
    Don Schmosé is in command

    I'm the famous Don Schmosé
Army life is good, I say
But, oh, how I hate to march
'Cause somebody soaked his shorts in starch
Now I'm gonna drill my men
Make them march from eight to ten
I'll make them march till they sweat
If we do, we're sure to get...

Don Schmosé sees Carmen for the first time
    She is crying
The tears are running down her ears
You see, her eyes are very far apart
He feels sorry for her, and ask her to marry him, as he sings

    As he sings

Ahem, I said: As He Sings

    Now, You Bonehead!

    Carmen, darling, please marry me
Oh, be my little bumble bee
You're the honey that'll sweeten our lives
Instead of children we'll both have hives
    They'll both have hives
I can not marry you, my Don
'Cause I'm in love with another one
He fights the bull in the arena
I could do that if I ate Farina

    Oh, no, you couldn't
    Oh, yes, I could
    Oh, no, you couldn't
    Oh, yes, I could
    Oh, no, you couldn't
    Oh, yes, I could
    Oh, no, you couldn't
    Oh, yes, I could

    The toreador's for me
    Oh, no, that cannot be
    The toreador's for meeeee
    Oh, no, that cannot beeeee
The toreador's for me ........... I love him so
    Oh, no, eeeev eeeev (cough)

She's right, Schmosé, the toreador's for her

The curtain goes up for act three

    Aaaahhh

Oops, pulled it up too soon

Anyway, Carmen goes to the gypsy camp, to have her fortune told
The gypsy band finishes playing, and all the gypsies take off their earmuffs
Carmen finds an old gypsy, and asks him to tell her fortune
She wants to know, who she's going to marry, Don Schmosé or Escapillow

Oh, Gypsy, will you look and see
What future is in store for me
Give me your hand and keep it calm
and I will try and read your palm
This might sound odd and quite ridiculous
be careful with my palm, I'm ticklish
That does sound odd and quite ridiculous
Oh, yes, it's true, I'm very ticklish
I'm very very very very ticklish

    I see by... Hahahahahaa
    You soon will... Hahahahahaa
    And you'll have... Hahahhahahaa
Or maybe even four or five

    Then you will... Hahahahahaa
    And he'll be... Hahahahahaa
    Then what will... Hahahahahaa
It's really great to be alive

    What did I... Heeheeheeheeheee
    When will I... Heheheheheee
    Or will he... Hahahahahaaa
You know something, you're ticklish, too

    Hahaha Haa
    Hahahahahaa
    Heeheehee Heeheee
    Hahahahahaa
    Hehehe He he he
    Hahahahahaa
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaa

    Ha ha ha heeheeheeheeee
    Ho ho ho teeheeheeheeee
    Ha ha ha teeheeheeheeee
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaa

    Ha ha ha heeheeheeheeee
    Ho hohohoho teeheeheeheeee
    Hahahaha teeheeheeheeee
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaa
Ha ha ha hahaha ha ha ha hahaha ha ha ha hahaha ha ha ha hahaha ha

    Act three ends
Carmen exits to cure her hiccups, and the curtain comes down

    Unfortunately it misses her

Carmen doesn't know which one to marry, Escapillow or Don Schmosé
so she writes a letter on her typewriter to Escapillow the Toreador
    telling him of her plan

Here's what I've decided to do
There'll be a bullfight between you two
The bullfight will start at four
    You will be the toreador
Don Schmosé will dress up so
He'll be the bull you'll try to throw
With the winner I'll spend my life
The loser gets some other wife

The finale takes place in a bullfighting arena
In one corner we have Escapillow the Toreador, weighing 240 pounds
In the other corner Don Schmosé, dressed up as the bull, weighing 32 pounds

And there's the bell for the first round

There's Don Schmosé he's dressed up as the bull
Now Escapillow gives his tail a pull
    Escapillow's scared of being gored
So he takes out his sword
    He prances, swing and sway
    At Don Schmosé
    Who's getting pretty bored
Don Schmosé goes back to his dressing room
He decides to double-cross Escapillow by sending in a real bull
but Don Schmosé is nearsighted, and instead he sends in a cow

And there's the bell for round two

    Escapillow drowns in the milk
He dies a grade A death

Don Schmosé wins Carmen, and as the final curtain comes down
they each put a piece of bubble gum in their mouths
and we see them chewing their way off into the distance

    Met Kerst Ben Ik Alleen
((Adapted from: The Day Before You Came (ABBA) - 1982))

    The Day America Cried
Composer(s): Jim Peterik - Johnny Van Zant
Performer(s): Jim Peterik; Johnny Van Zant

And now we stand as one
As flags are raised to hail our heroes
    And now the healing starts
We join our hearts to remember all who have died
    The Day America Cried

In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty
In the torch light of the land of the free
Lies the burning wreckage of our Fathers' dream
And the souls who've paid with their lives
A nation saw evil in September skies
By some faceless coward who'll soon pay the price
For challenging the towers of American pride
    The Day America Cried
    Why, why, why, oh why

And now we stand as one
As flags are raised to hail our heroes
    And now the healing starts
We join our hearts to remember all who have died
    The Day America Cried

Now as a calm falls on the skyline
Now as the smoke reveals the sun
Still the fires burn in our memory
This date is etched forever, nine-one-one
At the alter of the chapel of liberty
We light a candle for eternity
And pray that history will never repeat
    The Day America Cried

    À
    Huit heures
    Je quitte ma demeure
    Sans
    Penser
    Moi je pars travailler
    Le
    Bureau
    S'emplit de dactylos
    Je
    Suis là
Mais mon cœur n'y est pas
    Et je commence à rêver
    Perdu dans mes pensées
    Je suis parti retrouver
    Carla ma bien-aimée
    Car mon obsession
    Liée à son nom
    M'oblige à penser
    À elle, à l'aimer
    Carla est son nom
    Et il correspond
    À l'amour entier
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver

    Ouh, Carla
Il faut que je te vois
    Hum, Carla
    Toi, tu me comprendras
    Oh
    Carla
Oh, pardon, oui, oui je suis là
    Vous
    Disiez chef?
    Oui, les dossiers sont classés
    Votre cigare sent mauvais
    Votre allure me déplaît
    Et laissez moi retrouver
    Carla ma bien-aimée
    Oh
    Car mon obsession
    Liée à son nom
    M'oblige à penser
    À elle, à l'aimer
    Carla est son nom
    Et il correspond
    À l'amour entier
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
    Que je veux trouver
