    Trains
    Performer(s): Reginald Gardiner

I have a theory about railway engines being bad tempered
Well, when I say bad tempered, that's putting it mildly!
They're actually livid, furious beasts and they loathe humanity
So different from a ship, which is a sad, proud, graceful creature

You know, I can never understand why an engine driver isn't afraid of the monster he's in charge of, but he isn't!
And when the train's about to leave, he pulls down a lever and this livid beast is unleashed
Like this: Huhhh... huh... huh... huh... huhhh... huh... huh... huh... huh... huh... huh... and so forth, on it's journey

Well, now we've unleashed this livid beast, we find it's still equally furious
and it has this colossal argument with the rails it's running on
    Like this: Biddlah-da, giddlah-da, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, diddley-dee, giddley-dah, giddley-duh... and that goes on the entire journey
And, not only does it have a colossal argument with the rails it's running on, but also all the other rails when they dare to cross it's own
    Like this: Biddlah-duh, giddlah-duh, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, biddley-diddley-biddley-dee... and so on

Well, then we get out into the country and we come to a little rustic bridge spanning the railway
It's quite inoffensive, this dear little bridge, but the engine can't bear anything within it's reach at all
so it shouts at the little bridge as it goes underneath
    Like this: Biddlah-dah, giddlah-dah, diddley-dee, diddley-dah, diddley-dee
    Haahhh, buddlah-dah, biddlah-dee, guddlah-dah

Incidently, talking about this argument with the rails, this diddlah-duh business
I'm not a much travelled man, but I'm told this goes on all over the world, on all the different railways
For instance, in France exactly the same thing takes place, only the language is different, you know
    Suddley-da, suddley na, suddley-da, suck-it-yourself, suddley-da, suddlah-dah... it's all much the same thing!

    Speaking of France
The first time I ever went there, I arrived at Calais and very close to the quayside I came across my first glimpse of a French engine
I was vastly impressed, because it seemed to be four times as big and eight times as livid as any engine I'd ever seen before!
To begin with, it had eight of everything, cow catchers and bells and everything but the kitchen stove hanging all over it
Added to which, it had a very bad tempered word written across the front
It just said 'Nord', which I know is horrid to start with!
And it was a great pleasure to find I was allowed to do something in France that I'm not allowed to do in my own country
Namely that I could walk across the line to get to the platform on the other side, instead of going over by that maddening bridge!

So I picked up my little bag and walked in front of this monster, cowering away from it
And suddenly to my amazement, it let out an extraordinarily efffeminate voice
It seemed to me to be so enormously masculine and yet, as it started on it's journey for Paris, all it managed to summon up was: 'Fah'
Of course, I may be wrong about that, but it really does seem to me to be a little peculiar

Proceeding on our journey we find, from time to time, that we tear through certain wayside stations where no train has ever deigned to stop
People have been standing, waiting on these stations for centuries, but the engine ignores them, shouting as it rushes past
    Like this: Diddley-dah, diddley-dah, raahh, romm, waahh, diddley-da, diddley-da, diddley-da, diddley-da

Then, of course, in time we get to a manufacturing town
Now when you get to these big towns, if you look out of the window, you'll notice some things called sidings
on which a quite inexplicable thing called shunting takes place
This, of course, is just an excuse on the part of the railway company to provide homes for old engines!
You see, there comes a time with an engine when it ceases to be virile and hearty and it just becomes long funnelled and tiresome
So it's put on one of these sidings and given a lot of trucks to play with
And, if you happen to have a bedroom anywhere near a siding
you'll find that you're woken up very early in the morning by trucks taking umbridge
And it goes like this: Huh... huh... huh... p-dink-dink, p-dank-donk, p-donk-dank, p-tink-donk-donk-donk-donk... to the far end
And, of course, there's another old gentleman at the other end who decides to do the same thing and biffs them all back again
And in this way, the railway company is carried on

Now there's one thing I must know before I die, and that's something that takes place in the tunnel outside Snowhill Station, Birmingham
You dash into the tunnel very fast and the brakes go on and you look out of the window
and all down the tunnel at intervals are a lot of flare lights
And in between these flare lights are men, standing!
They're leaning on shovels and pick-axes and golf clubs, or anything they can get hold of
And these men, they live there... definitely!
And as you go slowly through the tunnel, an extraordinary noise starts at the far end and slowly crashes past the window
I've no idea what it is, but it goes something like this: Brom-brom-brom-brom, durrum-durrum-durrum, aling-aling-aling-aling-aling
I think it's a piece of tin which has been nailed to the side of the tunnel with some number on it
or something that doesn't seem to mean anything to anybody
And it's too big! And it strikes the side of the train as it goes through
And, presumably, the men are merely there to bend the tin back, ready for the next train to hit it as it goes through the tunnel

Now, lastly, I'm going to tell you the one thing that an engine loathes more than anything else
And that is another engine coming in the opposite direction
    That it cannot bear!
And by this time, you'll have settled down having got quite used to the diddley-dum, diddley-dum nonsense and all other maddening noises
when suddenly, to your horror, this new thing bursts upon you and nearly knocks you on the carriage floor
It's the most frightening thing in the world and it goes something like this
    Biddley-da, diddley-dum, diddley-dum, shaahhhhh, huddley-da, huddley-da, huddley-da!

Well folks, that's all... back to the asylum! Good night

Sally Let Your Bangs Hang Down
    (Traditional)
Performer(s): The Maddox Brothers & Rose
    and multiple other artists

I met a gal from Old Kentucky
    She was happy and go-lucky
Sally let your bangs hang down

    She called me honey-bunny
Just to make me spend my money
Sally let your bangs hang down

Well Sally she could land 'em
She'd love them and she'd leave them
Sally let your bangs hang down

I'll find out what Sally's got
Makes a man think she's so hot
Sally let your bangs hang down

    He saw Sally changin' clothes
She was in a perfect pose
Sally let your bangs hang down

    She caught me a-peepin' in
    I don't think it was a sin
Sally let your bangs hang down

    Sally she can land 'em
She loves 'em and she leaves 'em
Sally let your bangs hang down

I'll find out what Sally's got
Makes a man think she's so hot
Sally let your bangs hang down

    Now I'll haveta be confessin'
    Sally always kept me guessin'
Sally let your bangs hang down

She jumped up on a pony
And she rode away with Tony
Sally let your bangs hang down

Yeah Sally she can land 'em
She loves 'em and she leaves 'em
Sally let your bangs hang down

    Just The Way You Are
    Composer(s): Billy Joel
    Performer(s): Barry White

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
    Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

    I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are

    Train Round The Bend
    Composer(s): Lou Reed
First release: The Velvet Underground - 1970
    Covered by multiple other artists

    Train round the bend
Takin' me away from the country
    I'm sick of the trees
    Take me to the city
    Train goin' round the bend
    Train comin' round the bend

Been in the country much too long
    Trying to be a farmer
But nothing that I planted ever seemed to grow
    Train comin' round the bend
    Train comin' round the bend

Hey, I am just a city boy
I'm really not the country kind
I miss the city streets and the neon lights
See the train comin' round the bend
The train comin' round the bend

    Once, she's goin' twice
She's gonna do it all up and down
She's goin' once, she's goin' twice
She's goin', train's comin' round the bend
You know the train's comin' round the bend

Hey, up and down, out of nowhere
Taking me back where I belong
I've been here once and I don't dig it tonight
The train's coming round the bend
The train's coming round the bend

    Oooh Allright!

    I Might Have Been Queen
    Composer(s): Rupert Hine; Jamie West-Oram
    Performer(s): Tina Turner

I’m a new pair of eyes everytime I am born
An original mind because I just died
    And I’m scanning the horizon
For someone recognizing that I might have been queen
For every sun that sets there is a new one dawning
For every empire crushed there is a brand new nation
Let the waters rise, I have ridden each tide
From the gates of the city where the first born died

And I might have been queen
I remember the girl in the fields with no name
    She had a love
But the rivers won’t stop for me
No, the rivers won’t stop to me

I’m a new pair of eyes, an original mind
With my senses of old and the heart of a giant
And I’m searching through the wreckage
For some recollection that I might have been queen
For every sage that falls there’s an ancient child

And I might have been queen
I remember the girl in the fields with no name
    She had a love
But the rivers won’t stop for me
No, the rivers won’t stop to me

I look up to the stars with my perfect memory
I look through it all and my future is no shock to me
I look down but I see no tragedy
I look up to the stars till I find my destiny
I look up to my past, a spirit running free
I look down, I look down and I’m there in history
    I’m a soul survivor

    A soul survivor
    On the river
    But it won’t stop

    Just The Two Of Us
    Composer(s): Ralph MacDonald;
    William Salter; Bill Withers
    Performer(s): Grover Washington Jr.;
    and various other artists

I see the crystal raindrops fall
And the beauty of it all
when the sun comes shining through
To make those rainbows in my mind
When I think of you some time
And I want to spend some time with you

    Chorus:
    Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
    Just the two of us
    Just the two of us
    Building castles in the sky
    Just the two of us
    You and I
We look for love, no time for tears
    Wasted waters's all that is
And it don't make no flowers grow
Good things might come to those who wait
Not to those who wait to late
We got to go for all we know

    Chorus

I hear the crystal raindrops fall
On the window down the hall
And it becomes the morning dew
    Darling, when the morning comes
And I see the morning sun
I want to be the one with you

    Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
    Just the two of us
    Just the two of us
Building big castles way on high
    Just the two of us
    You and I

    Just the two of us
    Let's get together, baby
    Just the two of us
    We can make it
    Just the two of us
    We can make it
    Just the two of us
Just the two of us we can make it

    Train Of Love
    Composer(s): Paul Anka
    Performer(s): Annette Funicello

Oh the train of love keeps a movin' on down the track
Well I left so fast that I even forgot to pack
Well I called my baby on the telephone
Told him to meet me at the station, 'cause I'm coming home
    Ya Ya

Woo woo, shovel more coal in the fire (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
Well I'm coming home... home to my desire (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
Well I miss him so, how much you'll never know
And when I get back I'll never let him go
    No No

Oh my heart keeps beatin', beatin' away
    It seems to tell me...
    It seems to say
Get right home, just as quick as you can
Into the arms of your loving man

Oh the train of love keeps a movin' on down the line (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
Well on the locomotive there's a number ninety-nine (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
    That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give
And ninety-nine hugs and we're gonna live
    Ya Ya

Oh my heart keeps beatin', beatin' away
    It seems to tell me...
    It seems to say
Get right home just as quick as you can
Into the arms of your lovin' man

Oh the train of love keeps a movin' on down the line (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
Well on the locomotive there's a number ninety-nine (wooo wooo... wooo wooo)
    That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give

    I Might, (Ooooooooooooh)
I might just fall in love with you tonight
    If your kiss lingers still
And my lips think it will
    Then I just might

    I could
I could surrender in your arms tonight
Just hold me close once more
And kiss me like before and I just might

Lately I found my resistance is down
Every time that I look in your eyes
My head starts to spin, I try not to give in
But if you catch my heart by surprise

    I might, (Ooooooooooooh)
I might give up my heart without a fight
    I never thought I would
But now I think I could
    And I just might

    Wooh, wooh

What can I do with a girl sweet as you
Can't kiss all my defenses away
Tonight you may find that you've made up my mind
'Cause it's getting much harder to say

    I might, (Ooooooooooooh)
I might give up my heart without a fight
    I never thought I would
But now I think I could
    And I just might

    (Ooooooh), I Might, (Ooooooooooooh)
I might just fall in love with you tonight
    If your kiss lingers still
And my lips think it will
    Then I just might

    Grown in one land alone
    Where proud winds have blown
There’s not a flower born of the shower
    Braver than England’s own
    Though gales of winter blow
    Piercing hail and snow
Shining she stays bright as in days of yore
    Old England’s pride still blossoms
    Fresh on England’s shore

Rose of England thou shall fade not here
Proud and bright from growing year to year
Red shall thy petals be as rich wine untold
Shared by thy warriors who served thee of old
Rose of England breathing England’s air
    Flower of chivalry beyond compare
While hand and heart endure to cherish thy prime
Thou shall blossom to the end of time

Rose of England breathing England’s air
    Flower of liberty beyond compare
While hand and heart endure to cherish thy prime

    Just The Same
    Composer(s): Kerry Minnear; Derek Shulman
    Performer(s): Gentle Giant; Jordan Rudess

See me, what I am, what I was, what I'll be
Hear me, understand that I'm not what you see
Take this, take the man, middle term, common me
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

Make me someone else, put me up on a stand
Something that I don't really want on my hands
Use me, idolise all you can understand
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

Change it, what you think, what you thought, what you say
Look for something more than you sought yesterday
I don't want to be part of your life today
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

    Train In Vain
Composer(s): Mick Jones - Joe Strummer
    First release: The Clash- 1979
    Covered by multiple other artists

Say you stand by your man
Tell me something I don't understand
You said you love me and that's a fact
Then you left me, said you felt trapped

Well some things you can explain away
But my heartache's in me till this day

    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all
    Did you stand by me
    No way

    All the times
    When we were close
I'll remember these things the most
I see all my dreams come tumbling down
I won't be happy without you around

So all alone I keep the wolves at bay
There is only one thing that I can say

    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all
    Did you stand by me
    No way

You must explain why this must be
Did you lie when you spoke to me

    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all

    Now I got a job
    But it don't pay
    I need new clothes
    I need somewhere to stay
But without all these things I can do
But without your love I won't make it through

But you don't understand my point of view
    I suppose there's nothing I can do

    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all
    Did you stand by me
    No way

You must explain why this must be
Did you lie when you spoke to me?

    Did you stand by me
    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all
    Did you stand by me
    No way
    Did you stand by me
    No, not at all
    Did you stand by me
    No way

I Met My Baby In Macy’s
    Composer(s): Tommy Dorsey

I met my baby in Macy’s in Gentlemen’s Underwear
I met my baby in Macy’s and that’s where I learned to care
We looked at a cottage on the Mezzanine
With a toaster and an iron and a washing machine
I met my baby in Macy’s in Gentlemen’s Underwear

I asked my baby to wed me in higher-priced Langerie
I asked my baby and said we should honeymoon rightaway
Should head right for heaven on the 2nd floor
And we’ll buy all the romance that they’ve got in the store
I asked my baby to wed me in higher-priced Langerie

And then my baby refused me and told me she didn’t care
I found my baby in Macy’s so I just returned her there
They’re giving me credit but I’m all alone
So I think I’ll take the door, see what Gimballs are showin’
Who wants my baby in Macy’s in Gentlemen’s Underwear
I left my heart on one of those clothing trees
Between the men’s cologne and the b.b.b.
When I lost my baby in Macy’s in Gentlemen’s Underwear

Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello
    Composer(s): Jerry Leiber; Mike Stoller
    Performer(s): Elvis Presley

    She's sitting right over there
    I'd know that face anywhere
I'd run up and embrace her
But I’m ashamed to face her
Just tell her Jim said hello

I'd like to pour out my heart
But I don't know where to start
    I'd like to tell her
    What I’m really feeling but
Just tell her Jim said hello

Just tell her Jim said hello
Just tell her Jim and she'll know

Don't tell her I’m feeling blue
That's just between me and you
Don't say I’m thinking of her
Don't tell her I still love her
Just tell her Jim said hello

Just tell her Jim said hello
Just tell her Jim said hello
Just tell her Jim said hello

    Trailing Around In A Trailer
    Composer(s): Harry Gifford - Fred E. Cliffe
    Performer(s): George Formby

I love the fresh air, it's great, I declare
    Wide open spaces for me
With trailer and car I set out afar
A rover I meant to be
    Over the hills and dales
    Over the slugs and snails
    Trailing around in a trailer
    Eee, it's champion campin' out

It's just like a real gypsy life
To make it look more real, a gypsy lent me his wife
I'd only one pair of pyjamas
It was awkward there's no doubt
We shared the suit between us, but we found it too tight
She had got the left leg on, so I put on the right
The tape it broke and I never got a wink of sleep all night
    Eee, it's champion campin' out

On a farm t'other night, I was doin' all right
A dairy maid sat on me knee
One kiss it begun at a quarter-to-one
    And it lasted till half-past-three
For breakfast we'd eggs and ham
Then I thought it was time to scram and go
    Ttrailin around in me trailer
    Eee, it's champion campin' out

To shut the window one day I tried
I banged it in a hurry with me head still inside
When I was doin' some fishin'
    A girl strayed round about
She smiled and whispered, "Any luck?", she seemed a gay spark
As far as fishin' went, it's true me luck was off the mark
But I had a bit of luck with her as soon as it was dark
    Eee, it's champion campin' out

Just Someone I Used To Know
    Composer(s): Jack Clement
    Performer(s): Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton;
    and various other artists

    There's a picture that I carry
One we made some time ago
When they ask who's in the picture with me
I say just "Someone I used to know"

Just someone, I used to spend some time with
Just a flame, that's lost its glow
But I don't them of the nights I cried without you
I say just "Someone I used to know"

Just someone, I use to run around with
Just a friend from long ago
I don't tell them, how lost I am without you
I say just "Someone I used to know"

I say just "Someone I used to know"

    Trail Of Tears
Composer(s): Roger Cook - Allen Reynolds
    Performer(s): Nick Lowe
    and multiple other artists

I've seen shadow, I've seen shine
I know what and what is not mine
I've seen glitter and I've seen gold
And I've heard everything I've been told
And I don't want to spend my life time walking
    A trail of tears
I don't want to spend my whole life walking
    Along a trail of tears
    Trail of tears
Well you know battle, you know war
You know what and what you are for
Scared of you and I'm scared of me
Scared of letting my future be
And I don't want to spend my life time walking
    A trail of tears
I don't want to spend my life time walking
    A trail of tears
    Trail of tears
    Nobody in their right mind
Could fail to see unless they were blind
It's gone, true love has gone
Nobody wants to throw it away
But oh my darling how can I stay
When it's gone, good has gone
I've seen shadow, I've seen shine
I know what and what is not mine
I've seen glitter, I've seen gold
And I've heard everything I've been told
And I don't want to spend my life time walking
    A trail of tears
I don't want to spend my whole life walking
    Along trail of tears
    Trail of tears

    I Met Her In Church
    Composer(s): Spooner Oldham; Dan Penn
Performer(s): The Box Tops; Tony Borders

I met her in church, I met her in church
    On a Sunday morning
She looked at me with eyes aglow
    As the choir sang hallelujah
    hallelujah
I met her in church, I met her in church
We fell in love on a Sunday morning
Then all at once I heard angels singing
    Singing Hallejulah
    Singing hallelujah, hallelujah
Saturday night turned into Sunday light
I found love on a back row seat
In a little church just down the street
Met her in church, had a wedding in church
Church, had the wedding in church
The lord willing and the creek don't rise
We're gonna be happy the rest of our lives
I met her in church, I met her in church
    Hallejulah
I met her in church, I met her in church
    Hallejulah
I met her in church, I met her in church
    Hallejulah ...
